good evening to you, flosey! How was your day? And is your head behaving or did the migraine come back?
still a bit heavy but not piercing!!
progress, I guess. Still, I hope it will clear up alltogether soon.
it will, always does - eventually!! ty for your concern
:)
phantoms: initial and hymn
and contrast
and quotient. Phantom galore.
also cormorant and iconoclast, but that may be stretching it
must be off, back later for the last few. *hugs flosey* Sleep well tonight, and I hope you'lll wake up with a light and clear head :)
and to all, a blessed day and a peaceful night
thanks Sprite and hugs back, am about to give up for the night, perhaps head will be lighter in the morning for last 63 words
aha, just found ta8 and 9, can't stop yet!
ah, but must, 53 for tomorrow, good night all
May I please
have a clue for te8-40 the 2nd? Thanks
TE + 4th vowel + three letter word for going to the confession box + consonant + first two letters after nine.
Good morning
Hello, Ruby :-)
Our weather has been incredibly beautiul for several days -- sunny, breezy, only hot in the sun
Is your weather good ((zzoozz))?
It has been rather pleasant here too, Ruby. Loving it!
And I have been watching all of the Tour albeit recording it then watching it later in the day.
Gapeach I will redo the clue.
Thanks so much, zooz. I don't know the 3 words for the confession box......
Hi peach. There was an extra cons in the clue
TE + 4th vowel + three letter word for going to the confession box + first two letters after nine.
When you done something naughty you go to the church into a box and confess your ***s
Thanks so much, zooz and ruby.
(peach doesn't do naughty stuff! lol)
There was a lot of booing for Froome on yesterday's stage. Not a fan of the booing.
LOL
I missed that, zzoozz. Why were they booing him?
Well, not anymore, ruby. LOL.
I'mnot enjoying the Tour this year because my two "horses" (Valverde and Porte) both crashed out
Yes it is a shame. Both great riders!
And I thught the disqualification of Sagan was excessive punishment
Dear ones, I wanted to stay up longer tonight, but if I don't go to sleep I'm about to fall out of my chair. Blessings
Good night, peach
I feel the reason they are booing is the sky rider, Mikel Landa, is riding really well and is leaving sky at the end of the season and people are saying he is being held back to help, Froome win the tour when he could win it himself.
Take care, Peach. Sweet sleep.
That explains it
Yes I think it does. But I still do not believe in the booing.
Did you see the motocycle guy Knock over a fan who was waving a flag?
No I missed that. they did not show that on Eurosport channel. I take it you are watching it on FranceTV?
Yes, whenever I can stay awake long enough LOL
Sandy saw someone sitting in a tree waving a flag. I missed that
I liked to record it. That way when I watch it I can fast forward all the adverts. Over a five hour stage I can cut out at least an hour & half of time!
I'm not that sophisticate with machines
Oh yes I swa that It was a skinny tree with just a little top cover and he was right at the very top with a french flag. How he got up there without snapping the littl tree was a miracle!
Saw*
There was one part a couple of stages when the commentator was discussing the race when one of the riders just flopped his bits out and proceeded to urinate right in front of the camerea to the side of the road whilst still riding. I was amazed the cameraman did not pan away from it. Was not happy seeing that..Yuck!
That's funny!
Usually they're more discreet!
What I really hate is the fans touching and interfering with the riders at the tops of the ascents
One year Contador punched one of them
Oh I agree. I also do not understand why they wait there for hours on end. And when the riders go past they are looking at their phones to record it and not watching the riders themselves!
Exactly
I've had friends who take their camping cars up to the top and wait a whole day. Ridiculous
I also saw on yesterday's stage people actually turning away from the riders to wave to the helicopter flying above their heads. I was amazed!
I saw one guy "moon" at the camera
Have there been any "nakes" this year?
They want their one moment of fame!!!
Oh I would not mind making a day of it with food drink and the company of other cycling fans. But I would make sure I watched the riders go past and shout out some encouragment to them. And bravo of course!
Oh I saw a couple of monners on the stage yesterday too.
Mooners.
The one time I watched Lance ride by, I was dumbstruck and couldn't even shout "Allez"
LOL Bless you.
He was my idol, now Fallen, of course
Yes it is a shame he decided to go down that path.
Eurosport have been showing some amazing chateaus with the helicopter.!
Have you had enough of eating the figs yet, Ruby? lol
I eat 4 every day and share the rest
This is the most I've ever had
They get really ripe, unlike any you can ever find in a market
I bet they taste wonderful!
Not too keen on figs myself.
Yes, reallly sweet.
I much prefer victoria plums!
On the other hand, my tomatoes, 4 different types, now ripe, are mushy and tasteless
Oh that is a shame.
I just read up about that and that can be a result of over watering.
Maybe I was too attentive but they collapse in the heat every afternoon
Probably just too much heat in the sunshine then. I suppose they also need shading in the intense heat.
I'm notmuch of a farmer!
No I am not either.
I have been putting the couple of houseplants I have outside into the back garden whilst we are having this lovely weather. I hope they appreciate it!
I was ambitious in the beginning but no longer feel like it, especially since I hardly cook
I can understand that. I am kind of the same way in thinking. I just feel it is a lot of effort just for one person. Easier to just buy it in the shop.
I was invited out yesterday and brought a huge sangria with me -- did my trick of macerating the fruit in brandy with sugar first.
They were knocked out!
I bet! You will be invited again soon then lol
That way you can add ice cubes without it becoming insipid
Good thinking!
ethane
Damn..Sorry everyone.
May I have stats, pls, for the 9's and the 10? I don't know where to look
I have a TA 9/54
But no 10 or any other 9s yet.
ca9,60...se9,54...ta9,54...se10,70
ca8/45 me8/50 qu8/55
Thank you, Molly & Sandy. Hello to you both :-)
Hello, you two.
hi all , ruby, zoos molly - have been reading your chat about the tour and yes last night I saw a rudy nudy
There you go, you got the 8's too without even asking for them : D
rudy nudy lol
Last nite was a good stage to watch very exciting
now I have grandchildren I speak a different language
I got nothing; my head is elsewhere!
Yes froome got a puncture and all hell let loose!
se 10/70 (write these down Ruby)
TA 9/54 open pie + interest ****** can go up or down.
I was hoping he would get another puncture (I dont dislike him I just think he has had his turn)
se9/54
Thanks Sandy, I posted the nines and tens
ok
The only one I found was zooz's 9
I need a nap
me too I haven't felt well today from eating rubbish all weekend (children's party food
Oh no I disagree a rider who can win the tour would not think i am being greedy here I will let someone else win it .They have trained for so long and given up a lot of family time to get where they are today. So if they can win it then they deserve it.
ta8...the way men score saucy women : D
Oh dear, Sandy, too much sugary food lol
good clue molly
LOL I have more respect for women, Molly. But a good clue nonetheless!
I agree with Zoom. No one who trains for that kind of competition decides to let someone else win because they have already had their turn.
and zoos no I dont have a sweet tooth but I ate a lot of those little red sausages
Saveloy sausages.
I think they are made of the scraps off the floor
LOL
lunch arrives.....
And yet you ate them, Sandy!
Oh good luck, Ruby! Hope it is something you can eat!
LOL
I'm sure it wont be little red sausages
Time for me to get going. Happy babbling everyone! And thanks for the chat!
bye zooz
good morning all. help with the se10 pls
hi all, back for the last bit
se10: having to do with a series of words, from capital letter till full stop.
Hi and thanks - no real time to chat - early start tomorrow so rushing to finish this. Will email tomorrow or next day to answer yours. Hugs.
*hugs right back at ya* have a lovely day tomorrow. No hurry about the email, it will keep :) Gonna try again later today
hi, all. Just popped in with a WARNING: The last time I was in the PB, I was really hungry and ready for a treat; finally saw this dusty little bottle way off in the corner with a faded label on it that said; "drink me" so I did and th. . . .
Perhaps add a bit less water! Add it gradually. We sometimes don't use the full amount.
oh dear, jwr... and that was two weeks ago and only now did you wake up again?
. . . mmmm
might be it, Liz. Or maybe the floor is not of good enough quality.
Possibly - we use bread flour.
or, also quite possible, I stink at kneading and need lots of practise
But also like I said, we reshape the loaf after 2nd proving just before it goes it the oven.
*giggles at jwr* You look radiant though... the rest becomes you
I doubt that!
ah, that is different then. The recipe says to shape before second proving. I will try that!
We do shape it then but tighten up the shape before it goes into the oven.
ah, I see. Am gonna give that a try. I used a baking tin. Do you use a plate?
We use a flat baking sheet.
I thought so. Kind of baking bread for experienced users, grin. I'll work on it until I get it right in the tin, then go on to try freeform bread.
We went straight to free form.
The video showed it pretty clearly.
you are talented, though, and experienced in the kitchen. I am a sad beginner with no real talent.
Not really - don't underestimate yourself.
yes, the vid is perfect. It is me that is not succeeding, lol. When I reach the point where Paul's loaf is cut in and stays beautifully full, mine goes pooffffff and inflates.
deflates*
Ours also did that for quite a while. perhaps try proving it a bit longer or as we said, just tuck the sides in again and try to puff it up a bit like that. It should still cook OK.
at least yesterday's was edible. That is progress ;) Thanks for helping me, I really appreciate it
A pleasure. I'm sure you'll get there. Like I said, we still get it wrong sometimes and we certainly had to work on it quite a bit at the beginning.
oh I won't give up. It is a wonderful feeling, baking your own bread. Am enjoying it and I know I will get there eventually.
It's also really good to know exactly what's in the bread.
oh yes! I have been looking at quality floor online, but most have chemicals added and I don't want that. If you bake your own, it would be silly to add chemicals you don't need, right?
15 to go - all t's.
ouch
Definitely agree with that.

hm, ouch myself then too. I have 34 left, 7 Ss and the rest is... T

the word is good, grant, just the location is wrong :D
sorry guys

Hm! That plural wouldn't take before :(
:(
27 Ts left, lol
Enjoy! Just finished with a lot of help from more words in the end. Final word to 8/55. Have a lovely day and good luck if you have another go at the bread. Hugs.
wtg Liz! *hugs* and have a good day and night
Simply can't see the se10 - big hint please
hi Alleyn, se10: having to do with a series of words, from capital letter till full stop.
Tried sentence - no joy
close though. Drop last two, replace with deferen****
Phew - Thank you Sprite
yvw :)
fireflies. Have a lovely day, Alleyn, and a peaceful night. Bye all!
Using bread flour, not regular flour is essential when making bread. You need the higher gluten content of bread flour to get your bread to rise.
Intear
I tried that as well, quilter

70 to go and taking a break -- BBL :-)
Very Excellent! You win a night at La Scala!
:-)
good morning all. Interesting reading re the bread making. I made all our bread and rolls for years -- 5 loaves every 2nd day when I had 3 teens in the house!
no way I could do that nan.. I tend to loaf around in the mornings
you knead to get into a routine, then it's easy
LOL.. there's a crusty comment
homemade bread is better than store bought no matter how one slices it
I think so - if only because you know what went into it --- hopefully something other than flour and water!
I was never very successful at bread making, but my roommate used to make homemade bread that was really good
I used mine to replace bricks in the fireplace
good stand-up material, ru...
:D
how did the showing go nan?
good apparently -- have another one coming back for a 2nd look this morning
great.. that's good there's a lot of interest
I hate being in limbo.. wanting the new place and still trying to sell the old one
well some, at any rate. It would be really nice to get it sold so that we know if we can afford some of the extras we would like on the renos
that's it in a nutshell, ru
we never thought our house would sell in the bay area allowing us to move to the country
now that tiny little house in Palo Alto is worth 1.8 million
we should have kept it and rented it
problem with renting is that renters won't look after it and the depreciation is greater
that' true.. plus the hassle
I hate to think what this place would look like if any of my children had it for a year ---- they never seemed to learn to look after their things and their kids are even worse
they all seem to have a 'throw it out and buy new rather than clean and care for mentality
our one foray into renting our cabin turned out badly
sorry to hear that - do you still have the cabin?
no.. we sold the property in the divorce.. some rich guy from Tennessee owns it now
oh well -- as long as you got some of his riches :D
well.. sorta.. it's in the bank and I have a new audi :D
he got it for a better price because he paid cash for it
won't do any good in the bank --- you need to invest it and put it to work for you
it was a beautiful place...but with the divorce a burden for both of us.. we were happy to sell it
need to take a break and transfer some photos and data to my portable hard drive --- getting a little nervous with all the forest fires around here! Later.
man.. those N's are nothing to sneeze at
lol
I have 40 to go and still haven't found a 9 or the 10
YAY found a freakin' 9
it also takes a lot of balls to get that ca 8
lol ru, great clue
starting late today
I was going to say testicular fortitude but passed on that pun
would be lost anyway after ..
someone said go-nads and then someone took it seriously
sounds like bollocks to me
eh, they were just junk anyway.
wow.. I found the se9...and I haven't seen it before
wtg ru
lol.. I was trying to spell something else
h'mm, guess "sinneth" is too biblical
I have sinnethed much in my life
you are absolved in BabbleLand
tenement is my phantom for today
great.. the last time I kneeled for a priest it didn't work out that well :D
updated-cutie alert! now showing: photo of Baby K from July 4th!
awww .. adorable!
very cute eva
hope he's feeling better too now
i think hes cutting more teeth, so the last few days, he has been a cranky-pants, nap-resister, but yes, other than that, he is feeling MUCH better! caught a teeny cold when we traveled to Michigan last weekend, but pulmonologist said that once that's cleared, we are free to pull him off his inhaler! (and fingers crossed, he will stay wonderfully healthy after that!)
good news
for all he has dealt with, the kid sure isn't lacking in the weight department. at 9.5 months, he is only 5 pound slighter than my friends granddaughter, who just turned 3!
Gooooood afternoon, Babblers!
hi Judi
Oops. Time out for kitty tummy rubs and kisses.
I did not get the earlier clue for the se10
Eva, he is a cutie pie

Cat is bathing my leg. Yeech.
phew 2/3 done.
peri, it''s one of those words that adds an extra vowel that is typically not used in american english
QU 8/55 frodo was sent out on a QU5 for the ring, but stick an extra vowel in the middle there. then it ends in either this ** that.
Olde English. May it rot in hell.
QU 8/55 frodo was sent out on a QU5 for the ring, but stick an extra vowel in the middle there. then it ends in either this ** that.
Stats please for the second R word from the right column? I have RO 4/4

I heard he was on the beach (that he closed for the day) and people were trying to push him back in the ocean
I think I saw that meriam webster updated their definition of tone deaf to include a picture of him on the beach
I think he's a jerk
20 to go
I try not think about him
funniest (or scariest) cartoon I've seen in a long time was not of Christie ... the caption was He's calmer if you walk him once a day ... a picture of Putin walking a diminutive Trump on a leash

I also need the one between most canvasy and the electric car
that's the mexican grass one
let's see - teethe on everything in sight, try to roar, - I have no idea what a baby lion does
it was a joke word
the one you're looking for is very hard to clue
oh, found the one after the exam
maybe you could imagine it's a word that sounds like turning someone into a french head
how many te8s are there anyway?
4

well that's the 4
oh -- I have that one -- there are 2 that follow the exam -- looking for the first one of the two

Intentionally skipped over that definition? Oh well, I thought it was funny. Silly me.

Heya Trifs ..
Hi Trif
hello!
wow, this grid is not giving up its secrets easily
It is a bit persnickety ..
I'm giving up. the hell with this Monday.
Yeah, this Monday is not in the top 50 this year ..
not even close. meh.
SA6/18 PLS?
sa6/18 ends in our San Diego babbler with the gumball machine
and hi owl
TY IT IS NOT WORKING FOR ME
NM GOT IT BYE ALL
hello
what are the i stats please?
found a goose....
well, I guess I'll get the list....
sa 6 please? -- don't know who the san diego babbler is
or the en 7?
or me 8?
hi nan, i don't have any of those. sorry
how about the 2nd ta 6?
checking
those are my last 4 -- is there anything you would like clued?
i don't have that ta either. it's what i was working on.
Just saw the news about the fires in Kamloops area. yikes!
there are fires all over BC --- we lost 8 homes about 15 miles north of here yesterday. over 40,000 people have been evacuated from their homes now.
It looked horrible. Take care. We lost 16 homes in 20 minutes last year. Unattended campfire.....
Evacuating 40,000 would clean out three counties down here!
yes it was an improperly extinguished campfire that started the one near here --- despite there being a campfire ban in place
ta6: one who specializes in using solar beds?
ah, just got it, one who gets too much sun!
ah, just got it, one who gets too much sun!
ah, just got it, one who gets too much sun!
yes -- well the biggest evacuation is the town of Williams Lake -- about 11,000 there
stay safe
we are in no danger currently -- it's just that everything is so terribly dry despite all the flooding and rain we had this spring
We had a long long winter but it's gotten hot and dry very quickly
there are still so many dead trees in the forests from the pine beetle infestation a few years back
could i get help with the te8's? I have the one that sounds like lock jaw
and the one with the most canvas
first one is most like a canvas shelter
I guess i have the first and last ones, so i need the middle one?
2nd one: te + vowel + a seven deadly + drink with jam and bead
* bread
3rd one: transpose last 3 letters of last one
thanks!
yw
giving up on my last 3
don't blame you. I can help you look if you want
This grid sucks. I'm at just over halfway. Good enough, I'm out!
thanks. but I've been looking for them on and off all evening
I'm going to plug away until the news is over..... 143 to go so I have no hope of winning, (if you call it that....)
some one said the sa 6 ended with our SanDiego babbler who has a gumball machine -- but no idea who that is
lemme see....
back at the flip
got the sa6... didn't know he had a gumball machine!
