thanks pen
new one to me .. thank you pen
new to me, too...
for me it's a word i've seen in old books, but never really bothered to fully make sure i knew what it meant exactly. which is really all that's required in babble, lol
oh that's a relatively common word in French.
bedtime for me....will find the rest tomorrow....gooodnight all....
yeah cause it came to english from french, that would make sense!
finished.
two words I put in before that weren't accepted are now accepted.
*waves good night to bugs*
good morning all
{{sprite}} hugs dearest. is all well?
pa drfe
*hugssss* my darling, and thanks for the lovely email. All is well.
ooops, sorry
hi there Sprite and Rose
excellent news sprite. and lolll flosey.... good eve to you too.
it went pretty okay. At one point he looked at me, and I looked back without any expression, and he blinked, looked down and turned away from us.
*hugs flosey* Good evening to you! I hope you are well. How is the head?
whoa !! WTG SPRITE !!!
and my sister was soooo happy we came. That alone made it all worth it. It meant the world to her.
thanks for your thoughts and prayers, hun. I felt them and they helped a zillion. The Big Guy helped too, all the time.
head is back to normal thanks Sprite
wow !! how lovely to have that reaction from your sister.
that is good to hear, flosey. Doctor soon, right?
yeah, my sister always feels like she is in the middle, which she is... and this time she was not. She invited us all and we all came. That made her day.
don has another cold. it is so weird. no infection there. has seen doc. just a non-productive cough and a runny nose.
yes Sprite, Thursday
will think of you, flosey
how odd, rose. Almost sounds like an allergy.
that's what i think. i have been giving him antihistamines and my magic concoction of, lemon, honey and soluble aspirin.
defence on all fronts, should work
and doc suggested salbutamol nebs via the nebuliser, just to open up the airway enough so nothing pools in the bottom of his lungs.
smart thinking
i was so scared. there have been a lot of deaths from the flu over here lately. one was a 30 year old man. took ill on the monday, died on the friday.
wow how horrible, rose! Not a common thing, nowadays, to die of a flu.
new strain of the flu, honey. any babbler heading towards the cooler weather really must have the flu vaccine before leaving home. come to think of it, a lot of you are moving into the cooler months soon. please take care of yourselves.
no worries, rose. Will get the flu vaccine as a matter of routine here, because I am diabetic. Probably next month. I expect an announcement any moment now.
seeing Doc this week Rose, will ask about that - It's been so many years since I've had flu, can't remember! But do remember it can be quite unpleasant
please flosey, put it second on your list. xoxox
usually that is all it is, a couple of very unpleasant weeks. But with complications, it can be very worrisome.
this new strain cause body systems to shut down.
ouch!! very nasty indeed
lol, caught myself an ambling horse
fireflies. A few oddball words today. Good for my new-word-learned routine though
*hugs to you both, and to Don too* I wish you a lovely evening, a peaceful night and a blessed day.
WTG SPRITE !! xoxox honey. hugs for you both
night flosey.hope you have sweet dreams tonight. i am away also. xoxox
goodnight Rose and Sprite, sweet sleep, I'll be off very soon
fw and off to bed, good night all
Name the stuffing you can buy that is in the grid today!
Hi Zooz - Paxo :)
Hello, Liz :-) Correct!! You win a day full of sunshine and happiness!
Good morning
Hello, Ruby :-)
Hi Ruby. Thanks, Zooz. Just had one of those. Hopefully another tomorrow. We have friends from the UK staying with us and the weather has been just perfect.
I've thought of a very cynical epithet for CNN's coverage of the hurricane: disaster porn!
Sounds like you will be having lots of fun then, Liz. Glad they are having a wondeful time!
I think that it's everything that they hoped for. We went up to the Barrier Reef last week - it's just amazing snorkelling there.
Nice one Ruby - I haven't watched much but of course have been reading about it.
Naturally, l watched obsessively all weekend, their hysteria fed perfectly into my concerns for all the people l know throughout Florida
Wow I bet it was! Liz, sounds lovely.
Some of my friends evacuated, others hunkered down
The sister of my friend who's here lives in the path of the hurricane. As far as I know, she's fine but of course it's a frightening situation for those there and for those who know people there.
Wow, l would love to see the Barrier Reef but l think it's too late for me!!!
Perhaps one day ... hopefully.
I did watch a few hours of it last night, Ruby. I did see the reporter in Naples when the hurricane was gusting around 141 mph it was so powerful and I felt so sorry for the people that had to endure all of that without power so not knowing how long it was going to continue battering them with all the noises going on outside. Must of been Terrible.
l can live vicariously through the expériences of my friends and with the help of National Geographic
I could only watch CNN as sky has removed Fox news from the channels.
I know people in Miami, Hialeah, Naples, Ft Meyers, Ft Lauderdale, Tallahassee, Tampa and points north along the coast
They said they removed it as it was not viable and the viewing numbers was too low.... I thought...It had nothing to do with 21st century fox trying to buy sky then..lol
Just think how the caribbean islands faired then as they had the full force of Irma.
Sorry did not mean to kill the chat.
I'm just working as fast as I can to finish the grid because we're off whale watching tomorrow morning, so I won't have time then.
Anyone have the stats for the lone E please?
Not me! But I'll look
You live in a beautiful part of the world, Liz. Glad you are making the most of it!
eg 4/6 - simple when "I" looked.
And it is nice to see you appreciate the beauty too!
It is beautiful, zooz and I know how lucky I am.
I swear I had entered that word already. Many thanks, Liz!
How can go 6 be acceptable! That's not the plural I know for those birds!
yw
Ah found out why, Liz. It is not the plural of the bird. it is a handle of an iron.
So you can have plural of those.
Thanks for checking that. It makes more sense now I know.
Or of course, thinking about it, it could be a verb!!!
Back, Rufie insisted on a massage!
For when you have time the link is here.

Hey kids.
hey you
Hey you. How are you today?
fine but lazy. trying to get the will to go to the gym
Do it. You will feel so much better afterward.
should have suspended it for august, i think i went twice.
Did you exercise outside?
no, i just did things. except for lawn mowing, which does not count. feel like a chubby slug
You can change that.
i can change the slug, but not the chub. age iinally winning. nothing to be done about most of that.
i am concerned about leg pain. must check for PAD again
Leg pain with exertion?
no, resting.
Does it worsen with exertion?
what is PAD
no. but i am having bilaterl knee pain after hours of walking/standing. just falling apoart here.
I know the feeling. I have done something to my left leg extensors, again
no swelling. just pain.
Peripheral arterial disease
Patellofemoral syndrome. Pain around knee caps.
That sounds bad
PAD often requires bypass surgery in the groin or leg.
good morning babblers!

judi -- love your icon -- reminds me of a sign I drove past every day for years, on my way to work: DONUTS AND BEER :-)
and a good friend used to drive by a billboard every day: Shoes and Cheese

TO - definitely a good time for those cookies! crystallized ginger is also called candied ginger. i just get it at my regular grocery store, so im sure wegmans would have it...mine is semi-hidden in the produce area, but id bet they may also have it in the baking aisle. if nothing else, a store employee should be able to tell you where to find it.

good morning everyone -- kids have just left for home
Good morning, nan. Did you have a good visit?
bichon - my husbands 40th happens to be this saturday, so we are throwing a combined party. hubby chose "Dune" (the movie/book) as the theme, so ive been working like a mad-woman to try to make it happen!
What a great party theme!
we had a great visit, ty, ch12
That's terrific
*imagines truckloads of sand arriving at Eva's house*
Will you dress as a Bene Gesserit?
we went wine tasting yesterday. There is much to be learned from signage in the winery shops. Did you know....
(Waiting for the winery signage ...)
Men are like fine wine. They all start out like grapes. Our job is to stomp on them and keep them in the dark until they mature into something you would like to have dinner with
LOL!
BAWHAHAHA!

i will call myself a modern day Reverend Mother. ;)
25 left. Tossing in the towel. See y'all tomorrow! *POOF*
bye judi
Of course! And be sure to bring along the box to test him with ;)
its a tough theme for me, since im not overly-familiar... i saw the movie once, like 20 years ago, and thats about it!
you could dress the baby as a worm... ;o)
That's okay ... I read the books maybe ... 40 years ago, and shocked I remember even that much! Can't remember where I left my glasses last night, but remember books :)
my fine wine is having his breakfast -- think I will go and join him -- bbl
luckily, the internet is a treasure trove of useless information... so needless to say, there will be spice cake + spice cookies.... and gummy "sand"worms
bye, nan. Perfect treats, Eva. Speaking of breakfast, I need to get something in my system. bbl.
*Thanks God the kid is only one and will not remember this birthday party : D

i cant bear to watch it. no tv today for me.
It is a day that people should remember the horrible things that were done to this country and to remember all those lost, and those mourning the ones they lost. If it upsets you, turn your thoughts to the positive and hope for better days to come. And send a little light to those who still have deep wounds from what happened.

it's really weird teaching elementary school on sept 11
my students were born years after it happened! so i gave them 15 mins to ask questions about it because their knowledge of what happened is rather fuzzy
these two absolutely darling, sweet, lovable fourth grade girls were completely set on the fact that they would have done what the passengers on the fourth plane did - take it back from the hijackers and crash it in an empty area rather than into a place full of people. in fact, not only were they set on that, when they knew they would die either way, but they both said that EVEN IF it were a choice between THEM surviving but lots of others being killed, or dying themselves, they would sacrifice themselves rather than let a large number of people die. blessed their little advanced ethical souls!
wow
noogie is so a word
yeah that is what i said this morning to myself
or even if somehow the singular were spelled some other way, noogies would be the plural, right??
right!
listing with 30 to go. that's a great reflection hursh
what, noogies plural, or my wonderful students?
I was actually on the Potomac River fishing with my Dad in 2001. We noticed that the planes had stopped landing at DCA, then we saw the smoke. Like fools we zoomed up the river to check it out (we were at the Southern tip of DC) and we saw the Pentagon evacuation under way from the marina next door. The crash site was on the inland side
(your students)
wow, so you were really on the spot
one of the spots
we were eventually approached by a police boat who told us what had happened in NYC and that there was still a plane in the air (Flight 93), and if we were perhaps not insane we should get the he double hockey sticks off the river
yeah those girls are the kind of kids who really give you hope for the future of humanity

Can't sleep, the sadness never goes away. I ws already here when my life changed forever<<
I was in those buildings so many times as l did some work for the Port Authoritu
Hi rubyfoo.
I'm sorry to see that you have been that close to ground zero that it has affected you emotionally like that.
I think being a New Yorker but being here made it worse. It never goes away
I've never been in New York (yet); but I've been in D.C. a number of times although I've never seen or noticed the Pentagon before. To me, it was just the fact that our country had such terrible things happen; and that people would hate us so much that they would die trying to destroy us.
(I really don't know how to express my feelings about this; I know that I'm horribly naive about world politics & such; but I too have had terrible nightmares about what happened that night for me; even though I was here in MN and personally didn't know anyone in any of those planes or buildings.
My sister sentmeall the lists of names of the dead, but, somehow, none of the people l had worked with on the LaGuardia project, was killed.
I've never been able to go back to Manhattan
I can understand that.
And yet many people *have* gone back there (after not being there for many years)and for some it sounds like the memorial at Ground Zero has had a healing effect for them.
I don't know how it would affect me if I had personal ties with anyone there or even the buildings there.
I'm going to new York next month.. can't wait
Business trip, ru?
or fun?
fun.. just fun and more fun
okay; What's with the Canadian Flag?
(And the birds?)
I'm thinking about buying a house in Canada
I didn't think you liked the cold climate?
BC's climate is somewhat similar to what we have here
I'm not tough enough for Calgary or WInnepeg
Ahh; and how is the grape growing up there?
there are some nice wineries in the Okanagan Valley
on Vancouver and Salt Spring Island, winemaking leaves a lot to be desired
(I was wondering if it was Salt Spring Island that you were interested in
nope.. Vancouver Island is the most fascinating place for me
Salt Spring is too hippy-ish and a little too isolated
I have a nephew who lives a bit farther north than that; but he really gets snowed in during the winter. (& he works just outside Vancouver, so it isn't *that* far north
I like the area that Bugsaw lives in.. maybe about 1/2 an hour south of her
I'm likely to look at houses next year
(he lives in Squamish, BC. I just checked)
