Happy babbling everyone!
Good morning
Hi ruby, how are you?
L'm great, thanks! At the same moment that the dog-Walker arrived, friends called and asked me to come for lunch. My cup runneth over!!
They'll even pick me up
Nice.
It's chillty, but still no frost, so the garden is full of flowers and framed by the bright leaves of autumn.
And how are you, Sukee? Is it cold there yet?
Not bad. It is getting cooler, around 3C here right now, going up to about 7C. Still, no snow, no freezing. Not bad for almost November.
It was a nice sunny fall day yesterday, the trees were golden :)
Nov is usually to_gh, but l'ml trying hard to remain cheerful and my son and wife are coming for z few days tomorrow. l've decided to let him have his way and alwaays be right! No confrontations that way
Ruby, the operative phrase is "yes dear"
:)
Or even just a smile which would play into his idea od how stupid l am!
If he starts pontificating, just hear "blah-blah-blah" and laugh to yourself. : )
Did you notice once you had visible disabilities that everyone treated you like you were stupid? I found that at work. Thankfully the wellness center I go to and the seniors center where I have coffee is filled with people like me :)
Especially abouy food. He is overweight and since his wife is a vegetarian, he does the cooking, hence, he has become the expert. The fact that l've never been overweight (or had a cold or flu or anything but cancer)
must mean l've done somrthing right
It's a man thing :)
He's just like his father! Both husbands and my son are all only sons
They're certainly special!
This grid is slow going, drip by drip after the first 70.
l have 45mins 'til they come and fetch mee . The boy is cleaning up the knee-deep leaves
A good lunch and good company, should be great.
l'm smiling
Well, 21 left. Going to get some breakfast. Have a great day Ruby and Molly.
You, too, sukee!
some
sorry
It is unfortunate that some people "talk down" to those with disabilities.
lt's hard to tell if he's masking his concern or just nasty
and his wife doesn't help
I hope this visit goes better than some of the others
good morning all. not getting the re7 clue make available again

Phantoms: fierce, conch and coffee
Are phantoms words that look as though they should be there, but aren't? If so, 'wench'. It's still not there no matter what I do.

Hiyas, Kids!
morning Judi!
Hi Judi. Ready for Halloween?
As ready as we'll get. Have the obligatory pumpkin on the front stoop. Other than that, we are non-participants. Howzabout you?
I am.. I'm ready for tricks
Sad day today. We have to take our boy cat to the vet for his trip across the rainbow bridge.
oh.. sorry Judi.. that's the hardest thing to do
Yeah. He was diagnosed with lung cancer about a month & 1/2 ago. Was doing okay. Then took a big dive this past week. Stopped eating & drinking two days ago. He's ready.
how old is he? I didn't know cats got lung cancer?
I'm really sorry Judi.. I know how you love your animals
He is somewhere between 11-13 years old. I guess cats can get any kind of cancer.
Ty, Ru. Our animals are our family. Hubby is taking this one harder than me. He's all teary.
do either of you smoke?
that's awful.. I've never heard of lung cancer in an animal.. maybe it started a long time ago before you got him
We have never smoked. It's a mystery. Possible he was exposed to some chemicals in someone's yard. Who knows.
yes... that's possible
I'm always a wreck when I have to put a pet down. I so understand how you're feeling.. give my best to your husband.
Thanks. It's awful, but it must be done.
I'm so sorry, Judi. I know how difficult that is.
(wonders if Judi can put my MIL down too at the same time)
Ha! Sorry, pal. You're on your own there.
(sigh)
Can't you just give her a home where the MILs roam?
My biggest failing with her is that I'm not Jewish
Poor schmuck.
so therefore I'm not good enough to have married her daughter
Putz even :D
Well, see as how you're divorced...
true.. that's true.. in a sense I'm freed from MIL..
I am still good friends with my Ex though
Do you still have contact with MIL?
not much.... it's not really possible without derogatory comments and condescending attitude
Ah. Yes, best to avoid that.
I'm off to do dishes. I'm sorry for your loss Judi.. but you are doing the right thing if he's not eating and setting him free. I'm sending good thoughts your way..
Thanks again, Ru. Much appreciated.
I too must do a few chores.

I got busy with Halloween prep. *Sending good thoughts to Judi & Mr. Judi
I miss having trick-or-treaters. I rarely have any here.
yay fireworks!!
We don't get many trick or treaters. But my son works at a daycare center, so he dresses up for his kids. We were putting last minute touches on his costume and carving the pumpkin.
Congrats!!
Sounds like fun, Molly.
congrats ypsigirl
my board just emailed about the building kids T&T
hello, may I have a clue for the ne8/70 please?
Ne8 not an old timer
Just looking at that Phae.
Hello everybody.
ty ruru
Hi Ruby!
Hello rubes
Hi Ruby
Although Halloween isn't celebrated here, the neighborhood childrenncome to my house as my rep got around
The children are so polite, but it drives the dogs crazy
The big holiday here is on Wed where they decorate the family graves witth chrysanthemums
Isn't there somewhere you can put the dogs (a room) so they won't go crazy?
Halloween derives from the Pagan celebration of All Hallows Eve. It's all about honoring the ancestors and those who have gone before us. Carving the gourds and trick or treating came later.
l think the dogs make the house more scary for the kids, gives them a little "frisson"
and the lighting l put out is scary; they iove it!
any help for re 7,52?
to profer so**thing again
ty Ruby. Got it.

Somebody pour the sangria!
What a nice group
spec
whoops, sorry
ah yes, sangria. i just bought the wine to make it
The trick for non-insipid sangria is to macerate the fruit in brandy and sugar overnight, THEN add the win
or even wine*
I am not fond of Sangria
Hello, please a clue for re8/60?
one who promotes change
Youd like mine!
Got it! Ty
I'm more of a straight alcohol person. I am not into alcohol infused with fruit, sugar or flavorings. I'm still wondering about martini bars and things like "chocolate martinis".
<--- likes whiskey sours
I'll have a Mekers Mark Manhattan, please
Maker's Mark
You will have to pardon Ru, he is from The Left Coast : P
Maker's is excellent sipping whiskey. (For those of you who don't drink straight out of the bottle)
I prefer a straw
my new fave whisky is WL Weller 12 year old
Anything aged that long is wonderful. Alas, it is beyond my price range.
hi all. I have not had a whisky sour in years.
I tried a dirty martini once. it was nasty
whiskey even
help with 2nd re6/27 pls
I got a bottle for $65 molly.. not too too bad
nm fw
people mark it up mercilessly on line though as it is highly allocated and pretty hard to get
*Notice how I ignore Peri's asks for clues as she always gets the word less than a second later
<--, very dry. Sangria goes with food. Bombay gin martini
I think Ruby's very dry...and Sangria comments got mixed up. Unless she likes very dry Sangria
I'm happy with my moderately priced, within the budget, Jameson.
Thanks for sorting that out, Molly, yes, very dry Bombay martini. When lused to cook, the strong sangria would be part of a gazpacho, paella dinner.
I have never delved into Spanish cooking. Hence, my distance from Sangria.
Jameson ain't cheap either
It must be a local thing then. Jameson is about 20-25 a bottle around here. It takes me a while to get through one of those.
I may have to pour a shot before this freaking Redskins/Dallas game is over.
It is pricier here then
Isn't everything pricier on The Left Coast? : D
But then. We are further away from Ireland
Indeed
why isnt remop a word? i had to remop the floor today!
At least our politicians aren’t orange here
Oompa-loompa politicians.
