lt is very drafty because of the poor glazing, so l sit on my "throne", next to the fireplace, with many sweaters, a big fuzzy shawl and an afghan.
Good that you have heat in the bathroom. There is nothing like a freezing cold toilet seat to make you grumpy.

I don't mind cold, but when it drags on for weeks with no relief at all, it certainly gums up things.

have heat tape on most of the house, but had a system for the bit going to the washer, which included a small space heater in the concrete crawl space (four feet deep, not much fire danger) - but this year's been sad and strange and a lot slipped by us.
sooo.... the pipe has now burst, and now I have no one around with half a brain who can wiggle down in the trap door and look for shutoff valves. So the water for the whole house is off right now. Luckily we have gallons to drink.

the rest of the house was doing fine, sinks and toilet running as normal, kept a little drip going in both sinks. Could never figure out how to do that with the washer, haha! :P

just another winter trial, I guess. I worry more about our pets, like the two cats who dart out between legs given half a chance into the frigid cold - I have to constantly count pet heads to keep track of who may be courting frostbite, sigh. So far so good. And the dog won't go out for over a couple of minutes, his feet get cold and he forgets what he went out for, haha! :P
and we have a new pup that our son brought home, so little puppy bombs always to be found and dealt with. Keeps us busy!
i let my pup out the other day and she just held up her feet one by one and looked at me like "why am i in trouble?"

my great nephews are in northern maine cross country skiing....don't see how they do it when it's below zero there and that doesn't count the windchill!...
