good morning all
Morning all. Does anyone have stats for the R in the fourth row, fourth column?
hiya matty *hug*
Hugs back! How's you?
RE 5/12
quite a few challenges in life atm, but hanging in there. And you and yours?
Hello, Sprite & Matty :-)
Just finished my first run through and have 9 left.
*hugs zooz* Hello dear man, how are you? And how are your parents doing?
I have bronchitis, which isn't fun but (probably) won't kill me. Because of the 'Beast from the East' and that I'm working from home today, which is nice. Or should I say shirking from home ;) Jeff is with his mum and has been for the last fortnight but should be back on Sunday. So that's the Readers' Digest Condensed Version of my life ;)
I am well thanks. Mum not so good dad is okayish. I would like to go and see them but it is pure ice everywhere at the moment.
I hope you are taking it very easy, with a bronchitis! Shirking is the way to go, lol.
Hope you feel better soon, Matty.
the weather is evil, zooz. Should be better this weekend though.
Hope so. Beast from the east and storm emma from the south at the same time was not nice.
amen to that
I refuse to give the strom name a captital letter as it was so nasty lol
can't begin to say how grateful I am we are not camping out and canoeing this weekend, as was the plan.
Capital*
lol
These names for the storms are so cheesy
Oh gosh glad you decided tocancel that one, Sprite! Yuck.
Maybe that could be the next name, Matty. Mccheesy.
there would have been no way to keep warm. The freezing, we could have managed. But that wind to boot... nope.
lol @ McCheesy
Yeah I think with that wind chill factor would of been too cold even if you were cuddled up.
It was 11c in my house last night with the heating full on lol
Hah - love it
that wind steals all and every heat. Better to postpone and enjoy the comforts of central heating.
I have turned the heating back on in the house - my view is there is no reason to freeze unnecessarily.
wish I had central heating instrad of this crappy electric economy 7 rubbish.
instead*
amen to that, matty
Back on? It should of been on for weeks now! You are a tough cookie, Matty!
central heating rocks, for real low temps.
Nooo...it comes on twice a day - it usually goes off during the day as no-one is here. But as someone is here...
My parents could not live without it that is for sure.
Ah I see.
BTW, does anyone have stats for that pesky R in the fourth row, fourth column? Pretty please?
especially a sick person who needs coddling!
Awww! But there's only me here to coddle me, so I'm doing the best i can ;)
I did give you the stats earlier Matty. RE 5/12
Aaah - I missed it in all the far more interesting chit chat
LOL
*cuddles matty up in a nice warm soft blanket and makes her a hot tea with lemon and honey*
Anyone have that R in the 4th column?😜
Awwww! If it were later in the day, I'd ask for a shot of whiskey in that, please and thank you ;)
hiya ru!
Teehee!
Hello, Ruru :-)
Got it now. Hi Ru!
oh, that R :D
*pours in some whisky anyway*
I have one of the As anyone have the other please. AL 5/10 I have.
You are an excellent person, Sprite ;)
The beast in the east means something different here
AL6/21.
lol matty :)
half earlier, looking at incessant snow
l'm starting to think spring won't come
Hello ((Ruby)) hope you are keeping warm.
*looking for that AL6*
Thanks, Matty.
Garlic word is not there.
Even with fire, heater, blankets, l'm still freezing
nope, not enough i's for that, lol
I bet you are. Wish you would get a hot water bottle. I love mine.
Think al*s for the poor and remove the S and extend it
I only have one 8 - re8/45 - anyone have stats for the other two and are they 'real' words?
That did it thanks, Matty!
I have EN 8/40
en8/40 is a normallish word
Normalish - hah. Looking now
Found it. And I already had the 6 it builds on. Silly me
And PR 8/50 plural
Thanks Zooz - eventually got there :)
Think I might try and walk up to see parents soon. I see some people walking rather fragile but walking out there so if they can do it I must be able to.
found the al6, thanks
the me5 bird was in my sink yesterday morning, very calm
sounds like a plan, zooz. Do you have those iron thingies you can tie around your shoes for more grip?
lLooking for food and warmth and a drink maybe, Ruby.
Nope just my normal shoes, Sprite.
he wouldn't find warmth but food and water, yes
very good safety investment, zooz, and not expensive
My birdbath keeps freezing over so the birds can not drink from it. I suppose they can drink the snow if that makes sense.
just put some salt into the water, zooz
It is very rare we get these conditions here, Sprite.
Would the birds still drink the water?
They usually bathe in the fshpond, but, of course, it's covered with snow & ice. l put ou bowls off water, but they freeze too fast
Maybe something just dawned on the bird?
preying for better conditions, ru
Just looked, Sprite salt is poisonous to most birds.
Maybe the birds will go ice skating?
no, no salt, indeed. Dextrose (grape sugar) should work
that's why we don't put salt on the ice out front
Ha I see lots of duck skating on the rivers when frozen when I lived in Oxford.
No snow here, but big winds (up to 70 MPH). Everything is closed, including the Federal Government.
Stay warm and safe, Molly!
If I were a duck I would be afraid of the ice quacking
We had blizzards here yesterday not nice. So I know ho you are feeling, Molly.
LOL good one, Ru!
same here, evil winds and so cold
Good morning, Molly
I hope we don't lose power, but doing power outage prep just in case.
l hope the IRS gets swept away!
Yes I have put candles where i know I wil find them in the dark.
So you will be waxing about it if the power goes out?
Okay I have 6 more to find but they will have to wait. I need to see how parents are. Happy babbling everyone! And it was nice to see you all.
fireflies. Have a blessed day and a peaceful night. Matty, get well soon *hugs*
Maybe a flicker, Ru :-)
*poof* Congrats, Sprite!
Well I did an early store run to get ice/charcoal and other power outage survival type stuff. Tree limbs are down and stuff is blowing around everywhere. It's Wizard of Oz-like out there.
We dodged the worst of the storm, just a dusting for us.
Do you have a clue for the AL 6? my last word.
found it :) fw
That one took me a while. I'm not up on monastery officials : D
Molly, where are you? We (Vermont) are experiencing crazy winds and weather. Oh and good morning everyone.
I'm in the DC area
We have had wind gusts up to 60 MPH so far.
I can't believe the government is shut down. Maybe a day without embarassment?
The gov't is shut down????
I'm not embarrassed about our government.
Is this Weather or Politics?
The Fed is shut down because of high wind warnings in the area.
Sorry, Molly. Politics does not belong here.
I don't mind politics here. Although nasty discussions of such things have cost us some very nice players.
The federal reserve or the federal government
Um, the government. The reserve doesn't shut down.
bbl
who decided politics may not be discussed here?
al 6/21, pls
al is like mr. Fudd
al6 starts like an old time word for what you give the poor and ends like Lil' _____ a comic charactr of old
ty Molly, ru
The first thing the weather guy said last night is "Don't put your recycling bins out tonight." Did people listen? No. Are there blue recycling bins blowing up and down the street. Yes.

TY for stats.

Hi Owl. How is the weather there?
hi there scrabs, TO hoya luv
quite windy here this am...
I found en8. TY.
hiya luc
We got creamed with 18 inches of heavy, wet snow and I have at least 2 broken tree branches out front, leaning against my house.
easy grid so far...
ty. i just saw that en 8
large branches scrabs ?
Broken off a beech tree from the weight of the snow.
i;ve cancellled my weekly trip downtown. trains already having issues and it's just beginning
not a major problem then, right ?
I cannot go out to assess because I don't want anything falling on me.
chance of downed trees and branches and wires, don't need to be stranded
Fortunately, the window did not break. And no power outage.
good plan, scrabbler
snow is in the forecast for today ...but nothing so far...
I don't even think I can safely XC-ski or snowshoe because branches could crack and fall. Maybe tomorrow.
good plan as TO said
All of the local schools are closed. Many roads are blocked by fallen trees.
truly.. that would be going out on a limb and taking chances scrabs
lol ru
maybe when the snow melts you can have a trunk sale?
True, Ruru. I will not branch out today. Not leaving the house.
scrabbler, what might cause dry cough headache dizziness and fever 101 +?
got the PR 8/50, my last 8...
Cold virus.
really? never heard of feer that high for a cold. that was an afternoon temp!
Fever is good--it means the germs are being killed off.
my friends keep exposing me. two have called after our dates saying they have been found to have type A
More generally, a respiratory virus.
Stay away from them.
this latest was a house guest. i was on nurse duty!
that is so rude.. sick people should stay home
bbl for last 14 - nice seeing you all - HAGD and take care
does the pr8 start with the ***fix?
no rolin
yes, that would be rude if they KNEW they were sick
Bye MOntreal
but we all pull together even if it's just dropping off some soup or dinner. all for one, one for all
That is the difficulty, Owl. We are contagious before we feel sick.
bye luc
stats for the singleton r in 4th column please?
re 5/12
Hi Doren.
lol- of course- ty Dorens.
i was dancing with one of them and two days later they called me. I appreciated it so I would know to run for tamiflu if i began to feel ill.
Tamiflu can be taken preventively after a known exposure.
thank you! did not know that! i wonder if insurance would cover?
Yes. It is taken once daily for 10 days. Treatment dosing = twice daily for 5 days.
take care, scrabbler. hope you don't suffer real damage from this mess.
hi all
Bye Owl and hi Hannah.
Hi all...well, that's an odd placement for the Qu. I would assume there are no words in this grid using it!
there isnt lol
A big jam of consonants.
lol
yep

Got the le, but still stuck on al
I am searching for al6 too-looking at the list of 6-letter woords
al6,21 starts with the last part of your hand and ends in abbreviation for hospital dept where they rush around.
does that make sense?
alpier does not work
the last 3 letters of a PART of your hand.
as in al + pinky + er
hearts of p*** + cons _ ending for busy medical place
Hearts of ?
coconut tree
begging for al**?

I finally got it. I am dense today.
I was looking for lilac variations for way longer than I should admit. :-O
Me too. All I needed was African v*****s.
I'll take a clue for that pi6 -- the flower clue is leaving me clueless
nm - got it -- thanks, scrabs
r2Now the pr words
sorry, I'm not the best at giving clues
pythonx, you do just fine! Some days my brain isn't in gear no matter how good a clue is.
