*!* -- good night everyone
fireworks - some odd words but quite fun
good morning all... who shrunk our babble??
both biggies found without prompting :)
hatman - my husband is one
hi, sprite, what's the 7, then? I have the 8.
oh, guess I could look back, haha
it's not that far to look...
hiya rbud! Ma7/40 for the 7
thanks.
yvw. How are you and yours?
oh, things are nuts as usual around here. just got back from an adventure with our son, we had to go rescue our daughter and her BF from just outside of town, they hit a slick spot and spun around, hit a guardrail, full side on, broke the rim of a back tire. All okay, at least, but the truck looks bad. Got it home on a car dolly.
well, you asked, hahaha! ;p
glad that they came out of it in one piece. Quite a scare! Yay for parents to the rescue :)
fireflies. I wish you all a blessed day and a peaceful night. Bye rbud, have fun with this tiny grid. *leaves hug in chog for rose to find*
Son amazes me sometimes with his total assurance and abilities with vehicles. Hugs to you, have a nice day!
Good morning
rbud, are yyou still here?
yes, hello! how's life?
The extreme cold is finally over. Temps above freezing sinceSat and the snow is finally melting sso l'll be able to assess the damage to the budding bulbs
manch
sorry
blundering around, waiting for visiting nurse
That sounds like a scary night for you! Ice is the worst!
lt's funny how many "sound" words are acceptable, like all the variehiedties of cat noises
cat noises? sorry, had wandered to the kitchen to fix a snack. *looks for meows and variations*
and re: ice and freezing - haven't had lilacs worth a hoot for the last several years due to early budding and freezes coming after. :(
When l spent a year and a half in Carbondale, l think it only snowed once
On the other hand, when l lived in upstate NY, there were two seasons: ice and two months of mosquitoes
grrr, I hate mosquitoes. Certainly have a lot of them, close to several bodies of water. Hav never understood why there are mosquitoes, what are they good for? what purpose do they have, other than to feed some birds and bats? AT least flies perform a scatological recycling function, hahaha!
And l fell on the ice at least once every year
Mosquitoes and fleas, no good purpose for either. Just blood-sucking disease spreading pests.
So far, no mosquitoes here (also no screens), but l'm afraid that may change
also, black widow spiders are getting ready to cross the Alps, like Hannibal!
I think mosquitoes decrease with elevation increase, at least it makes sense that they would.
oh, no, not black widows! what a shame.
Now & then a LARGE spider, "teteraria giganta" (l looked it up), arrived in the sink. Creepy but manageable
l don't like them, but l'm not afraid
good for you, I'm not much afraid of them either, unless they look like one of the dangerous ones. Snakes, too. Been known to pick up and relocate small garden varieties of them.
l feel the same way; snakes are fine as long as they're not poisonous. l may be crazy, but l'm not stupid!
in fact, I once worked as the summer naturalist at a state park in Missouri, and gave short talks to campers in a little outdoor theatre. Favorite subjects were snakes and bats, and I made sure to have a couple of small snakes in a bucket for them to "ick" over.
There are two kinds of snakes here, neither of which l've seen: vipers - small but poisonous, and "coulouvres", 4 feet long, but inoffensive.
And since it was after dark and there were lights, the bats would usually oblige by showing up almost on cue for their star moments.
Lots of bats, tiny ones, that live in a cave in the cliffs above the house. l had on comeinto the bedroom & my husband was terrified, backed out of the room and said "You take care of it!"
Birds come in from time to time (again, no screens), including one gorgeous hawk, but handling them is special
thrilling for me
what did you do with the bat? They're hard to catch, and duck anything swiping at them, it seems.
(silly husband!) :D
l opened all the Windows and turned off the lights. l don't touch them because it's possible that they carry diseases
or else l would. They resemble butterflies and come very close if l'm in the garden at dusk, circling around me & the dog
good job, that's how I usually try to deal with birds in the house or the library where I work - they come in there in good weather when I leave the front door open. The big fluorescent lights really confuse them, so I shut them off and try to shoo them from the only window. Usually works.
'l'm waitting for the visiting nurse to do a fasting blood test, but l'm starving & she's late!
Bats fly around people and animals because there are often clouds of gnats or such above their heads, since they're fond of warmth. People still think they aim for hair, so silly.
L was able to grasp the hawk by the "shoulders" and carry her out.
oh, dear, hope the nurse comes soon for you. I have a 12-hur fasting test coming soon, but have to drive myself to it. Hope I can function without my morning coffee with sugar and cream, haha!
*hour*
When we first moved here, l'd sit on the grass at dusk with my dog and the'd circle us; one time l counted 96 "passes" (not that l'm compulsive, or anything
*picturing ruby dancing with a hawk* :D

Hiyas, kiddos. Ah, I see the pendulum has swung the other way and we now have a teeny grid.
ohhhhh duh
in this case size does matter judi
Doesn't it always?
I would think so
Well, the good news today is, we've paid off our credit cards and my husband's car loan! YAY!
that's great
it is a good feeling I bet
Hubby go a very nice bonus this year. It's a huge weight off, believe me.
yea for you judi
i pay my car off this friday and then just two more payment on a loan
I pay off my credit card monthly, but I'm careful not to overuse it
except when I go to New York where everything is expensive :D
that is how to do it ruru
we are paying all our insurance and campground membership using the 1% back and then paying it the same day.
lol. Now that we've paid off the credit cards, we can afford to use them to pay for a vacation.
it is such a good feeling to not have car payments
Well, we still have my car payment. But I only owe about $2,800 on it, so that will be paid off quickly too.
our mortgage uses up near half our take home salary.
welcome to boston
i have the te5 bear, what is the other one?
rhymes with a terrible odor
I have 3 te5s though
Have you refinanced lately, Harry? Rates are really low. We converted to a 15 year mortgage about 3 years ago. We now pay less than 3% interest on our mortgage.
I bought my last car with cash.. so no payments
ty
i am a te5 myself, not stinky, just geeky
we refinanced last year - we're at 3.375 I think. Less than 3% is amazing.
but we're on a 30 year
i think i pay 4% which is low for me
We'll soon be looking at a home equity loan. Much repairs/updates needed on our creaky old house.
move south Harry
I love creaky old houses
i did
sue the answer would be to move anywhere other than here. but it's not happening so soon.
morning all
Built in 1985, so not REALLY old. But, very dated. We need a new driveway. That alone will be about 7 grand.

I found a 1940 1200 sq for 64000 18 years ago

it was a 2 bed/1bth
our last house was built in 1915
now 4 bed, 2 bath and lots of concrete. my x used to drive a concrete truck
i pay 415mth with insurance and tax escrowed
