They have installed new traffic lights across the road from me and when someone presses the button to cross the road the ruddy noise that comes from them is very loud. People keep pressing the damn button every minute or so it is starting to drive me crazy.
have never known that to make a sound!! perhaps just not aware due to other traffic sounds, can understand how annoying that could be

no the lake wasn't choppy, but it was my least favourite. The Russians aren't really set up for tourism. The Moscow Kremlin was interesting, but the scenery on the cruise is the same as what we have in Canada and the palaces and churches in St Petersburg are much like anywhere else in Europe

yes! -- absolutely amazing -- the photos don't give any concept of the size --- there are 3 buildings on the site -- one of them is the size of a huge football stadium
rows upon rows of life size warriors and every face is unique
Saw a TV documaentary on them. Looked amazing.
yes, we saw just 15 of them on display here in DC some years ago... but I imagine seeing them by the hundreds/thousands is a VERY different experience!
but it was remarkable how different each face was/is.
I highly recommend that trip by Viking - 5 star hotels in Shanghai, Xian and Budapest - luxurious ship and something different and interesting for excursions every day
*really not with it --- beijing, not budapest -- that was the Danube cruise!

Unfortunately, my kid brother (half brother, really) isn't doing so well. He has ALS & needs a teach now; his voice no longer works & his breathing is getting worse fast.
Well, I know about 52 1st cousins on my mothers side quite well; but there may be another 50 - 60 relatives also coming.

He was here for the last Vikings home football game in January (his former work place gave him & 3 family members an all expense-paid trip to the game; he'd never been to a pro football game & had been a Vikings fan since he was just a kid). He was walking & talking then, but had lost 60lbs in less than 9 months. Now (in about 2 1/2 months he's gone downhill that fast.

It really is, ru; and the sad thing is that so many of the meds that work for other neurological diseases don't help with ALS symptoms (such as cramping & spasticity) either.

ruru, she's about 18 years old; she survived a fire, she belonged to hubby's auntie & we inherited her when the aunt died. I let her have her nightly catnip even if she does nag me for it. :-)

You aren't a cat person? (I'm actually allergic to cats myself, but as long as I brush her everyday & take Claritin, it isn't bad.
If I was a cat, I would expect nip at all times. My greatest wish is to come back as a cat that belongs to a little old blue-haired lady.

The research will occur at Massachusetts General Hospital, UC Irvine Medical Center in California and the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota — and it will include some 200 patients, half of whom will be given a placebo." Don't know if your brother's progression is too far gone to get into the trial but might be worth looking into

Hi NatashaW. Yes; I read all of the ALS info (since my brother was diagnosed with it anyway) & he's trying to get into that study. One big problem for him is he lives in Montana & those 3 centers are quite a distance for him.
He was here in MN at the Mayo Clinic in Sept.; (that's where he was "officially" diagnosed) the trip was extrememly hard on him.
Like I said, ori, I think cats "choose" humans; we have nothing to do withchossing them.
Yes, I see. I guess he would have to move near you to have any chance of being in the trial.
There always seems to be some sob story from someone I care about regarding some pathetic cat. Or there is some stray that just won't' go away. I am cursed.
He'd be more than welcome to come here & stay with us; & he knows that. He still has 2 kids in high school & his wife is still workingfull time (not sure how much longer that will continue, however)

This is the first cat I've ever known of that likes her catnip every night.Just about 10:30 PM she comes and starts pawing at me and talking to me & pushing on me that it's time
Ashes was declawed somewhere along the line before the aunt had her; so she isn't an outdoors cat.

She is black and white. A beautiful cat. Occasionally she will bring in some poor unfortunate creature, but she has plenty of food and doesn't really need to hunt.
Is she bringing you a present when she brings things inside?
