WTG, MitchDick! YAY!!!
Clues are up
Thanks, lickety!!
wow, well done Mitch
and thanks Lickety
deta6 is a word! -- anyone who has ever had a daughter knows that
TY Lickety :D
should be nan, but it's an "un" :/
not when you are sitting with a screaming child trying to comb them out of her hair
and when you get it de ta6, it still won't let you re ta6 it...
right even though it does happen
mother kept me in braids pulled so tight, my eyebrows were almost to forehead
lol
again, and again, and again nan :)
My one aunt used to say her slanted eyes were due to her braids being braided way too tight also!
LOL Nef... it's true!
crash time for me -- good night everyone
hagn nan
(she never explained how her other sister - who also had braids - didn't get slanted eyes, however)
the finer the hair, the tighter the braids of torture :/
my relatives later joked that they didn't thnk I could blink when braids in....probably true
Good thing I never had longhair then! My hair is "difficult" fine!
did the sirens go off?
Are we all in the PB ruru?
Which ones & where, ruru?
don't sirens go off for hair braids?
Oh Gaaaawd! you got us! LMAO
UGH! Fooled me again!
Don't dis -tress Nef. we are safe - for now ;)
parting is such sorrow
ru, you've just upped your groan count -- again! ;-)
sorry, ruru... I was nose first in my dinner plait.
oh.. I hope it wasn't veal scalpini
LOL!
steak baked tater&sc and veg, heady combo
no pate?
(worth the pb for that pun)
I will not strand for misquotes, you forgot the "sweet" part ;)
I was trying to get more bangs for my bucks
LOL, no goose liver, but the wine is the crowning glory.
You are such a cut-up...
gosh the chat is moving at a fast clip
GROAAAAAAAAAAN.... cut it short then?
ruru is such a tease....
And with that last cut; I need to get to bed.
I love these little snip -its of humor
Awwwww we scared Nef off! :( so looooooong Nef will you back comb tomorrow?
I mean come back :(
this is nearly shear madness
If we trim it back a bit; maybe shave a little off the edges, we won't scare anyone else off.
Good show - you could be on the Edinburgh fringe.
I should blow for a bit as well. My dinner really is getting cold. The gravy is going to gel.
Hi Sue :D :D :D
You guys could curl up and colour for a while.
:D
I see ruru is not going to upbraid me (phew)! laters....
All these extensions are difficult to follow
you're wigging me out!
On toupee of all that?
Ues, it could be permanent
We could all use moluck
The conversation is difficult to follow, all the extensions you mentiones and all the abruptly split ends
Perhaps we need a comb over?
moluck needed to choose the new shag carpet.
I like your style Sue
A stitch in time shaves nine!
<smirk> xtra points for ruru1
sa-lon for now. I really must eatbefore dinner sets on my plait
It might be my razor wit?
cutting edge ru
!!
you know how it is, hair today, gone tomorrow....
I always get sinning and thinning confused
why, one is bad, the other means social death.... ;)
bows out...
Morning
morning worzel :)
Hello Kate
I understand you are finally getting a proper spring???
Well we've had two or three days of warm weather but it's now back to the seasonal norm.
It;s definitely late, but surely well in its way now :)
You've got daffodils - we've barely got to the first of the crocuses.
Some of our plants seem to grow whatever the weather - daffodils, snowdrops - no matter what the weather. Then there are those that get a little "lost in time" because the weather doesn't do what the plant is used to
Just spied some snowdrops up here yesterday - not in bloom, but buds at least!
(our forsuthia is very confused though...)
forgive typos worse than usual. very tored. jusy waiting for stomach to settle afte very late dinner, then off to bed for me!
Snowdrops here tend to come out in January and the daffs around about the end of Feb until late March and both have been pretty much on time this year although the snowdrops didn't last as long as usual because we didn't have a very cold winter here
Ours was a misery starting very early (November) then Dec/Jan 6 solid weeks of -20 - brutal :(
We're fortunate in the UK that we are all so near to the coast and get the breezes that keep the severe weather to once every 8 to 10 years. It's pathetic over here though - one snowflake and the whole pathetic country comes to a standstill
daffys have poked up and some in sunny spots have set buds, another week for colour. No sign of any tulips yet not even the really early K ones (mongolian roigin)
In al fairness, it was miserable - especially up north - like Birmingham...and poor Scotland. Too true about the snow, but you just aren't set up for it.
I don't know that it's just that though. We are, geographically, set up for damp weather yet the whole country moans and moans about it and I'm like "Go and live in Greece then if you don't like it" haha. I don't care what the weather does, weather does it's thing and that's that
I would leave now but it is a case of not being able to afford to just get up and go.
And I admit to moaning all the time about the cold damp UK weather.
I guess I'm just a product of the country - I love our weather - it keeps me on my toes! Snows in May, heatwaves in November - it's a riot lol
What I actually object to is the Met Office. Generally they aren't able to predict more than two days in advance acurately, yet they go on air and produce 10 day forecasts. I learnt to ignore the Met Office decades ago
Anyway I have to dash off now - I have some officials to go and give a good bollocking to - Worzy is NOT a happy bunny this morning haha! Anyways, leaving a MASSIVE hug in chog for Mum (Grannyrose) to find and see you all soon xx *poof*
They're not much better for my area when it comes to predictions - iy's a tricky area with lots of moving patys - I'm right on The Great Lakes, near Niagara Falls.
I will tell her wroz. Go give 'ell!
good night all.fund the 9 :D

A friend of mine has two sugar gliders as pets -- they're pretty amazing.
I want some!!
I've had sugar sliders (donuts) ..but not sugar gliders
sure they are tastier than sugar gliders!!
I'd imagine.. it might get a little dangerous trying to cream fill a sugar glider
**FW**
Enjoyed this grid... fewer weird babblets than usual! hagd all
I agree why isn't detangle a word?

Hi I'm new here and totally addicted!
Hi Babbley - fun right?
It's changed my life. Now I don't have one.
hahahaha
have to send you to babble detox...lol
There are meetings for BA in the PB
What's the PB?
"penalty box" where bad babblers go when they accidentally put words in the chat.. usually there are snacks and jokes galore to go with.
Thanks, Ibuxx.
does anyone have the de6's?
there is only 1 de6 - it is related to teeth
my bad there are 2
I know their are two but that's fine ty for the one you gave me:)
a clue for that is

Evening all! May I please have stats for any E that isn't an Italian erupting mountain?
eg4,6
en5,12
Thank you!
en6,21 also
I shall look for that final one - cheers Natasha!
can you tell me what nbt/nbs means? I think I saw it explained once but being well past 60, I've forgotten already
I'll write it down this time :-)
And found it - I hate Es. NBT = no black tiles and NBS no blank squares - i.e you have at least one word for each letter in the grid and one word of each length
Ah! A light dawns. Thanks muchly!
You are very welcome! :)
This game has taken over my life...instead of working on fundraising proposals I'm babbling and learning obscure terms for mosquitos and leaf margin shapes.
or yesterday's gem, "The fruiting body of a rust fungus."
Haa! Yeah, this will do that. I stopped playing for ages because I became so obsessed with finishing it was truly taking over my life. Now I worry less about finishing and more about having fun. In 15 minutes I shall stop to watch Only Connect and University Challenge (British high brow game shows)
Haaaa!
maybe that's a good strategy (i.e. make one pass and leave the rest for later or never)
My mum used to do the New York Times crossword puzzle and always wanted to use ETUI in a sentence - but was most disappointed when she discovered it wasn't pronounced 'e-t-u-ee'
lol. I have my etuis and et4,4s rock solid.
but this game has another level of obscure terminology
etui, Bruite?
Oh dear lord, yes. And it allows very rude words. Ha, yes Natasha! ;)
My daughter, when she was small (well, 10 or 11), made (with help from a friend) an etui for my mum with ETUI embroidered on it so mum could say her granddaughter made her an etui, thus she could use it in conversation
haha just to watch people's faces as they debated whether or not to ask, 'What in heck is that?"
have fun watching your shows. They sound entertaining!
Exactly. I will! They're worth an hour (half an hour each) of your life - it won't change your life, but they can make you feel stupid. University Challenge is the British version of (I think) College Bowl or some such?
prolly
My dilettante ADD brain adores quizzes and puzzles
You might be able to watch them on BBC iPlayer if you're interested. Tonight's the final of University Challenge. It's very...British
Right - catch you later - impossible quiz shows beckon
Good afternoon all. May I please have a clue for ar6-21? Thanks

Thanks ursh......looking
Have it now.....thanks much, ursh.
hello, if anyone is still here
I'm back from having a snack, nan.

Has anyone noticed in the 'who's hot' of the rankings has gone wrong?
I haven't looked there.....bummer.
Hi all :) a dew mentioned ysterday that there seemed to be a bit of trouble with the numbers
I was just thinking is it sad that I feel I would get withdrawal symptoms if the babble site ever went down for good.
Hello, TK :-)
Hi zooz.... bad news just coming in from Toronto
Is there? what is it?

Stay safe, Gapeach! We had thunderstorms yesterday. Lots of lightening and thunder!
Thanks, zooz.
I am just waiting for the kettle to boil so I can fill my hot water bottle up. So if I can help in anyway with the grid let me know.
Thanks, you are just wonderful!
hint on the re 7/32 please? I have miles to go yet...
what you do on a stage again?
It uses the double vowel. Always hard to spot thse words.
ty zooz, I will work on it.
... think of guys playing at civil war soldiers on the weekend
That is a much better clue. Thanks, Doseffing!
... yeah ... but it makes easier sense after seeing yours .... without the first clue it's still a tough clue
There are a lot of those RE 7/32ments here in the UK.
the combo of the two clues was perfect, ty zooz and dose :)

True true, Doseffing!

Although it is time for me to retire for the evening! Happy babbling everyone!

am now in a position to badly clue all words ;)
Hi Kate
Hi Nef :)
Trying to figure out what the clue position looks like
Sorry, I was going to ask for some clues, but then I found the top row E and also the second row, second column 3rd E and I didn't need help again! (At least not then, anyway)I have 65 words left to find; but lots of time! :-)
this a lovely grid
Hi Folks - back from the OR Shakespeare festival. Grand time.
On a scale of ten ori?
I'd give it an 8. Henry V was fantastic!!
Hi ru. The clue postion is probably sitting back, reading a book or exploring the internet; nice cup of tea (or glass of wine for those that drink) and relaxing while watching the fireworks here -- and gloating! ;-)
Was that the Henry who had his wives headless?
Sounds nice origami!
How long was the festival?
it wasn't enery the eighth. coudln't be a willy or a sam.
Nope. He was one of the ones that invaded France. The play is very ambiguous about war.
Ah
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
Nef the festival runs from April through October.
LOL, Harry!
Britain should invade France again
Wow! How many plays did you see?
Ha, Une1
Saw 3 plays - Henry V, Othello and Sense and Sensibility (I didn't know they did non-Shakespeare).
It sounds lovely; will you go again this year to see a few more?
No, maybe next year.
Where’d ja eat ori?
ru, you were right about the food - mediocre in Ashland. Did have a good meal at Sesame Asian Kitchen and the tapas restaurant.
I love Shakespeare; I've seen several plays here at the Guthrie Theater over the past several years. But now I've seen some ads for a Shakespeare Festival down in Winona (a college town about 90 - 100 miles south of here on the Mississippi River when my daughter went to college & I'm thinking that the 2 of us might go there to see a couple of plays there too.
(Hubby went with me to see the ones at the Guthrie; he wasn't bored (like he thought he would be) but he wasn't wildly enthusiastic about going either.
32 to go. I have hit the wall.
The production of Othello was really interesting. Not really modernized, but modern things were interjected here and there to accent humor. Well done.
Did u go to Elements? Isn’t that the tapas plaace?
iri, yo uwere at SOSC? I love ashland
I think that is for you Ori!
Our hotel was close to `the university.
I think the tapas restaurant was Ostras.
oops gtg
Ah
Best tapas I have ever had was some place in downtown Chicago. I am tapas jaded now :-)
Tapas jaded. So darn sad. : ( Maybe u j'da can eat at a better tapas place next time.
It is sad. Heart-breaking actually. Maybe in my next life I will be reborn in Spain.
Too bad you didn't see Richard III, it was certainly a winter of discontent ;) Glad you enjoyed the plays!
It wasn't playing. But I might have passed. It is soooo depressing :-)
At least they mixed it up with S&S... :)
May I please have a clue for the pa 9? I have 40 left and still can't find that nine
NM, I found it! :-)
may I have a clue for the re 5/14 and 6/24?
.... 5re5/14 ... re6/24 ... adjectives ... describing "having to do with the king"
regal doesn't appear to be in the puzzle...
and that would be before the word I am looking for anyway...
... needs an additional consonent
... re6/24 ... usually seen as a count of the years reigned
thanks. figured it out.
may I have clues for the 2 DE 5/12's please?
one is to get rid of rodents and the other is to stop someone/thing
thanks, Nef!
how about the last re 6/18?
a unit (to do withlandlords)
nope, I'm afraid I don't have the last one yet, sorry.
Nope. There is another one after that.
(but I'll look with you)
ah. sorry. No worries.
I keep wanting to try rectal
It means the rear?
move the T forward & try another consonent after it
( or working in a store, just drop a vowel)
got it! Thanks, Nef!
Great. I couldn't figure out a decent clue for it
do you have the last 2 an words?
do you need them phand?
yes please.
an 6/21 threw money into the poker pot
an 5/10 tack on most of tall folliage bearing woody plant
Thanks! my last word was the AR 5.
(6) an he put the golf ball on the little wooden support?
can I help with any clues?
well done, phand!
YAY. phandmd!! WTG!!
are you finished yet Nef?
No, Kate (I'm distracted by a TV show; it's about some elderly people (in a home for retired actors) trying to put on Shakespeares' "Mid-Summers' Night Play & the poor young guys who are trying to direct it!)
I have 6 to go; so I will finish tonight though! :-)
:) Caryy on. ST on here
Sounds like a good show - is it something on Netflix?
No, it's on PBS! And it's almost over. It's so interesting because one of the women has Alzheimers, one woman ggot deathly ill the week before the performance; 1 woman still had perfect pitch in her 90's; and the back stories are incredible!
fiction or 'reality'?
reality; the name of it is "Still Dreaming", it was produced in 2014. and it's now over.
Oh! I think we are on different PBS...title?
So now, back to my last 6 words! :-)
I didn't see that in my PBS lineup. Possible I missed it. will keep an eye out.
Sorry, Kate; here in MN it's called TPT; but PBS stations play different things across the country too.
They just said more info can be found at StillDreamingMovie.com
Yes... up here I get PBS Buffalo over the air. Some of our cable companies run Buffalo, others use the Boston feed. So, yes not always the same. I hope mine picks it up!
TY, will look for it later
It says it will be broadcast on PBS across the US this month
WOOOOT! I will watch for it then; sounds really good :)
I think you'll like it; do watch the preview at that site too
Finally got that upper left last R (the re8) 4 left
That was a bit of a tough fishie.
Yeah; I spent too much (distracted) time on that one! ;-)
LOL, distracted time doesn't count!
Finally! Fireworks!
Congratulations Nef! Clue your last word for the lurkerz?
Why is it always the simple words that are invisible? (the first the 5/12)
te 5/12 (related to de 6/21,)
Pretty sure that's an unwritten law of Babble.
since you had the 6, likely you mistyped the first try?
Well, the funniest part is I had the the 6/21 following it too!
I can hear yours grinding from here ;)
Yeah; I probably did. I definitely wouldn't be surprised by that!
Someone else mentioned "losing" a few words they were sure they had...
(lots of time it seems that my fingers don't hit the keys hard enough for it to actually type the letter)
hello .

cos, it's important to take care of yourself too right now;
my friend from iowa is coming this weekend .
all these people coming to see me and be with me paying crazy flight tickets... not necessary lol
if you don't take care of you; the stress catches up with you -- especially at the wrong time!
how can i eat if im not hungry
cos; people love you & are worried about you; (and they WANT to Help!)
light a very small fire cos...sending smoke signals ;)
hes only 34
i had to sign POA papers today. I did not enjoy it at all.
It's called nourishment; at this time; hunger may not be something you feel, but your body needs food and fluids.
my husbands life could be in my hands.
:-(
formality, nothing more. stay in the here and now
Have you 2 ever talked about what you want?
yes but he was always drunk
but he was lucid today.. said he was full code... so he wants machines etc
his mom and i agreed to respect that
wow.
remind him of that in the future.
so he's not giving up - he's fighting
right. hes a fighter.. he forced himself to use the urinal today
he refused help
he missed some but.. hey
Great! (nurses love guys who use urinals instead of the bed linen! ;-)
:D good for him. pride can be a great motivator
nurses told him to use the bed. he refused
Good for him!
theres slight hope. but im still bleep terrified
(I never would have told him to go in the bed; that's uncomfortable for the patient & more work for the nurse!
that was in the renal unit.. they move dhim to the rehab unit tho and theyre much nicer there
his doctors are both women. which i like.. i prefer female doctors. idk if that sexist but i think they are nicer.. they keep saying things like " When he goes home..... when hes discharged...." etc
So was he lucid all day long today?
not 100% he also had UTI wihch caused fever .. but hes more lucid than yesterday o.. we could talk for a hour . he knew where he was and stuff
he said he loved me. so thats what i needed for tonight.
<3
:-) that is indeed what you needed tonight
sounds to me like huge improvement in 48 hours
omg he said "ugh i look like a heroin addict with all these f..kig needles in me. I ned to stop drinkin"
then he demanded a smoothie. so we got him one
that's easy to say but harder to do (according to my brother)
yep which is why hes gonna stay with his mom after the hospital
for how long, cos?
idk.. it was my idea
too many bad infleuences.. our neighbirs his co workers
what does his mom think?
will he be released from rehab wing to real world, or to an off site rehab (live in)?
i work 10-12 hours a day i;c ant babysit him. his mom agreed
idk kate.. we will see in a few days i guess
although I have FMLA now but im gonna use that time to renovate the house to make it clean and saniztzied for him.
im always welcome at hsi moms house.. she loves me.. she keeps texting me nonstop telling me im her son always
okay. sounds positive... stay in the present and dont' catastrophise... one hour, one day...
my problem is i always thikn about what about tomorrow
it would be good if he could go to some sort of place wher he can completely dry out and learn how to be sober. What does he do, cos?
but it isnt abotu me isnt it.. it s about him
yes. stop it. just for now. it is crazy-making.
hes a dispatcher at towing place. his co workers keep texting me telling me they wull try to be abetter friend and theyre sorry
I always think that that type of thinking is because a person needs to get sleep & take care of themselves too
coming in late on this.. what's the prognosis?
It is about you too, cos.
this is the third time ive gone thru this but the worst this time
idk how much more of this i can take
cos, like I told you in my message; my brother said that both of you will need to be sober; but HE is the one who has to decide every day to stay that way.
one more drop hes gone.
im scared of his lack of willpower
And he won't remember that.
antabuse a possibility?
good idea
wait i think hes on it now
ill ask tomorow
There's a good reason that the AA motto is "one dayat a time"
he wtill has to decide to take it every day. and may be contraindicated for some reason.
i just want him next to me on the couch right now screaming at the dogs to shut up
true, Kate.
