i know this isnt exactly the same, but i had a cat die exactly a week before christmas eve 2 years ago, i was there at her side the exact moment she died, i cried so hard my nose bled, that was the start of my nose problems that led to me having to have surgery (irrelevant part)

Tell him that he can let go and that you will be alright, because ultimately you WILL be alright although the grief journey is painful.

Is anyone here who has had a broken leg or ankle? I get my cast off Thursday after 7 weeks of no weight bearing. I'm getting nervous.
not me, but likely to need the help of vrutches or cane for a bit... phisio wull be needed - muscle atrophies very quickly... that I can attest to after knee surgery
will you be getting some physio when the cast is removed, harp?
I know I will get PT but don't know the schedule yet.
harp; you have kept active in spite of your injury. They will have you do physical therapy; you will do well. (I went through 3 foot surgeries due to an on-the-job injury; ruined my ability to work in hospitals because I can't stand on my foot for more than 2 hours)
It took over 1 1/2 years to heal & return to normal. :-/
I have tried to stay active but my leg is literally rattling around in the cast. It's going to look like a toothpick!
LOL! It will recover! And you will be amazed how fast that muscle returns!
I'm hearing from friends to expect at least 9 months before it feels normal.
I broke it the day after I bought a ski pass for next year. I'm hoping....
it will jane, don't be alarmed... or in a hurry. it took years for me to getback full muscle on quads... thigh.

It's a broken fibula, the small bone in the leg. It is very near the ankle but none of the ankle bone broke. It was not a really clean break so I needed a plat and 5 screws. But I don't think any tendons or ligaments were torn
i looked up the ye5 hurshy and it is spanish slang for mate

hurshy, she mae it thropugh a month... she's not following papa so soon , methinks. sorry to hear she needs so much help. physio and more home care. g;ad she is where you can keep an eye on her and any outside caregivers
I'm sorry for prying, hurshy. Does your mom have respit care (someone who comes in and cares for your grandma so your mom can have a break?
she has a little nef, she's working on arranging more, figuring out a good schedule.
and they are going to put her in a nursing home place for a few days later this month so they can go to my cousin's wedding

nobody is trying to help her get better but like, she's lived for what, like, 9 years since the stroke i think? so physically there doesn't seem to be any reason to think she is VERY near the end.

it's good that you have some place for her just for a few days.... probably doesn't happen often that whole house is gone and can'r care for her. could try out a fes in home care people at your leisure

Dh's aunt had end-stage heart failure and just wanted to "be" and not do the cardiac training, etc. And she was afraid of the whole hospice thing. But Palliative care worked great for her.
they tried kate but she was already like 80, she just didnt' really have it in her to get back to the point of walking, which they had initially hoped would be possible
luckily on my dad's side i've got some genetic potential for an aortic dissection, which is one of the quickest deaths you can get, so i'm keeping my fingers crossed for that one
I see hurshy, that is sad... but at least she has the family... if she was all alone she would have either made herself walk again or given up - and she's still here,s so that's good.

hurshy, aortic dissections are most common in men than in women. It is a quick way to go; but if it's a slow dissection, it can be pretty painful for an hour or so.
