Hello and Happy Mother's Day! I got a new laptop!!
Damn, they don't fool around with Mother's Day at your house
:) Had breakfast in bed as well! Homemade waffles with strawberries and whipped cream and coffee!
I was in the grocery store early this morning and I got a kick out of all the people there buying flowers and balloons. : )
IT is a quiet holiday...it just sneaks up on people...
I got the best gifts when my kids were still in school. Most of the teachers were Moms, so they made sure all the kids had something to give Mom on Mother's Day.

hi flosey.. haven't seen you for ages.. hope you're well
well indeed,thanks, and you?
I'm fine.. have two vacations coming up.. and looking forward to them
enjoy! where is your vacation taking you ?
New York City next week and then Qualicum, BC in July (planning to buy a house there this summer)
ah, lovely
I'll have to start a go-fund me page to pay the Canadian taxes :D
have never been to Qualicum but Hubby tells me it'slovely
that's my favorite part of BC
during U years, he worked in BC Forestry summers - counting trees or some suck
oops, or some such
that's what I'm going to do.. sit on my deck and count trees :D
twas a healthy time
ah, but you don't get paid for it!!! - it helped him through U
I had to make Twinkies to get through U :D

Consider yourself blessed.
haha ru! Mine too --- Andy Williams!
I'll take your word for it
:D CH.. i had to leave the house when they put it on
later in life it was the lark ascending and Nora Jones :D
Mine were gone by the time Nora came along.... but by then, their work was done because (sigh**) I like Nora Jones.... lol!
another group of records I cannot listen to anylonger
not if you play nora jones every day 10 times a day
it makes my skin crawl now
lol! At one point in my radio career, I worked at a station that played the hits of the 30s, 40s, and 50s. My mom LOVED that! LOL!
What is otherwise good music can be ruined for you if someone plays it over and over and over again
very true
I'd have been with your Mom on that CH - it was music back then - and yes, agree Molly
I think "Breakfast At Tiffany's" ruined "Moon River" for everyone
how frustrating to get a tune in your head and it just won't leave!! time for the military marches
Then I worked as a country-western dj, and there were some hits that were played so often I still can't stand listening to them.
And I have never understood "Tiffany's" because the name of the store is "Tiffany"
I bet "Islands In The Stream" is one of those country western hits.
YOU ARE RIGHT, Molly! And Randy Travis' Forever and Ever Amen.
Just hook up two country western singers on a song and it is guaranteed to be played WAY too much.
And in my day, Kenny Rogers was still looked at sideways by 'real' country singers. he was a crossover from the 5th Edition pop group.
I did not know that ch112
1212 even
I only have 1 eight and am missing one of the 9's
hi all
Same with Lee Greenwood (God Bless the USA). He was raised in a musical family, partial to jazz and classical. He wasn't making it in his preferred style, and cut a demo of a country-sounding song, which was picked up and suddenly he was a 'country' artist. I interviewed him at length one time, and he told me about his background.
Oh Peri, you know Kenny Rogers and The First Edition. Famous for "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love To Town"
oh, yes I do Molly
After he "went country" we remember him more for his "Gambler" days.
Mine was on the road again. It played in a bar i worked at 200 times per day
Ah yes, I agree ruru, but because it was Willie Nelson, I quickly returned to the fold :)
I finally opened the jukebox and ripped out the record threw open the door and threw it like a frisbee
bbl - roasted broccoli done.
I had a big disagreement with a musician once about Willy Nelson and "You Were Always On My Mind". He claimed it was a great romance song. I told him it was a song about men who don't bother to be considerate of their women. : D
Or Willie Nelson
I am not a Willie Nelson fan
I'm not either
another thing I like about you Molly :D
I like Willie Nelson. Why is Nancy Boy here again?

And since it is all free, there is much more opportunity for people to sign in with multiple user names.

IMA think that's funny molly
To MollyL: I didn't have time yesterday to reply to your comment about my political comment-- I don't just sit on my butt & whine on the Internet-- My real life sometimes spills over-- I am very active politically-- I went to both Marches, sign all petitions w/ which I agree, call my Rep. & Senator & when I can, donate what I can for a particular event (special elections, other elections), It sometimes is irresistible to make a comment (joke) when i see the opportunity-- I realize that Babble is not a religious or political forum & am sorry to have offended you-- you could lighten up a bit re: such comments, & stop baiting real trolls by responding to & commenting about them; Amen--
good afternoon everyone -- see that the Canadian coins are still missing from the dictionary
OH NO Did you say AMEN !!!!!
Politically incorrect?
i don't understand why the chat can't be civil and discuss religion or politics when they come up.. but that's just me
me neither ru
thanks ruru-- I just said that POTUS was in the grid-- mo5/10-- moron-- sorry
it was a joke.. i got it.. at the time
I'm a political agnostic and a religious anarchist, so anything you want to talk about is OK with me.
That is funny and true!
you shouldn't need to feel sorry for stating the truth, lib
TY, Cybernan & ruru! I thought it was funny, but that's me...
thanks, invictus
for those of us who are offended almost daily by what comes out of the white house.. it was funny..
thanks Saam
yeah, well we just happen to agree with you, but not everyone does
Truth hurts, right?
*Sam*
that's ok too.. some people here voted for Trump.. that's their perogative
I'm offended by people who are offended.
Understood, cybernan-- willing to hear rebuttal & respect it...
The Babble Community seems to me to be a pretty progressive group...
not all.. but a majority maybe that chat
The thing is that this isn't just a political "disagreement." This is about morals and what is absolutely right and wrong. This is why I have cut those people out of my life completely, no matter if they are blood or not. Right is right and wrong is wrong.
I'm not so hard and fast like that invictus..
I don't bait real trolls. I do take issue with them when they are offending a friend of mine who just lost his husband.
I was in college in the late '60's & became suddenly politically aware & active-- my viewpoint hasn't changed since then, but it's a little harder to march :-)
I am when it comes to making fun of people with disabilities, treating people like they are nothing because of where they were born, sexual harassment/abuse, and a few other things. If you are ok with those, you are not an ok person.
uh-oh...
But I am going back to hiding the chat because I just had surgery and shouldn't be getting upset.
Didn't mean to ignite a firestorm of controversy...
you can make it up to us by cluing the mo 8 :D
Don't have it yet, but will do when I have... :)

Welcome.
Are you feeling bette now zooz? (asnd how did the hospital run for mum's appointment go?)
It seems I am suffering with hayfever this year, TK. But only with runny nose and sore throat. no itchyness with eyes at all.
Mother to the hospital was a farce. We were there for nearly two hours as her blodd pressure was too high so would not do anything untill it went down. so now she has to take tablets to lower it and return in a couple of weeks time.
Tyhe pollen here is the worst it's ever been. l think it's because winter was so long and then, within two days, everything bu_rst
Blood*
Good point, Ruby!
That's too bad zooz; hatfever is a misery - even sans itchiness
I do not suffer with it hence why i thought I was coming down with a cold!
Everybody around here is having all those symptoms
That's true, same happened here last year - everything popped st once and there were very high pollen counts. Terrible that yu will have to do it all over again zooz. Does she have a blood pressure cuff at home? Some people's BP goes up just by having it measured.. wondering what it's like at home.
I do not normally suffer with it.
Everything pollinated at once due to lingering cold weather (sez weatherman)
and everything is covered with green dust.
Probably just your system was overwhelmed by so much all at once zooz...hopefully it is a one time thing.
l have to wash the plants on the deck
mo6/21(first one) clue please
I thought I was sick w/ upper respiratory infection-- Doc said same thing re: pollen...
Yes they have got those at home, TK. They do not stop using the bloody thing I keep telling them it will be different everytime they use it but no they keep saying there is something wrong with it LOl

I will tell them that, Ruby. Thank you!
Yes, they've grown monstrously large and need to be taken out

Sorry to hear that, Libarebel. Hope you are feeling better.
Make the chart and tell THEM? PUT A PEN NEXT TO IT
To be honest, TK I have no idea. I do not know what thier BP is supposed to be.
sorry for caps

quite right ruby... I am being silly.
Not keen on alcohol when I do not feel too good to be honest.

Are you both enjoying nice weather?
what nice weather... here it's gone all cool and rainy again. I like it but it's more like Scottish weather
also it makes my fancy new hairdo turn into a frizzball :-)
hope it's nice up where you are kate!
We've had a lot of rain here too.. and the clouds are gathering again... actually look like snow clouds - but it will be too warm for that
we had nice sun and blue skies all day...but it is still less than 60F here
My hair hates the humidity too :(
I normally don't give a hang but I have my big gala tom'w and went to the hairdresser to get it all country-clubbed... in vain! :-)
You can get them to give it a quick blow and touch up tomorrow if you can???
For once in my life I was hoping not to look too obviously like a leftover hippie slob
Won't have time, getting on train to NYC 1st thing in the a.m.
Surely, you are being too hard on yourself...
You haven't seen my hair... :-)
blow dryer and brush should tame it enough
my neighbors' kids used to pretend I "combed" my hair by sticking my fingers in the electric socket
It will be what it will be, honestly I don't give a hoot. It's my board members who are always making little sly comments. Annoying
haha... just wait - they will likely deal with it too when they get older ;)
nasty people...
I always say, my hair has a mind of its own... with an IQ of about 38
sorry -- phone call took me away for a bit -- lovely weather here the last 2 days -- in the upper 80's (31C) here today
No, their hair is gorgeous!
despise pettiness and catty remarks.
woot nan! so YOU are the one that has our spring? ;)
upper 80s is more like summer...
yes, and soon we will all be whining that it's too hot and humid... if we get a summer this year. it was AWOL last year. weather network says 67-70F for the next week, but overnight temps are still chilly
well, it would be nice to have sunny, dry, 60s-70s...
but we're supposed to have rain for the whole weke.
week
it rained again last night, so bu the time it warms up and dries out, the day is almost gone for getting things done in the yard.
a whole week of rain? let's hope they are wrong... horrid :(
Sounds like someone had a hair-raising experience?
the 80's in late may is pretty normal for here --- been a cool spring though --- flooding hasn't reached it's peak yet - next week, I think
ci 7 please?
we get the odd hot day in May here ... very late spring this year though
start with the movie theatre and end with nost of the lemon peel?
ty kate - good clue
Hi ruru :)
ty kate that was my last C!
Yay fjor dan waves>
dang C and RE words will be the end of me one day!
an7?
AN 7/32 **ropean Union + and that same bit of lemon peel
thanks!
yw.. how Mother's Day going in the 2bit household?
we had a successful dinner out, miss2bit presented cards and a bracelet and a breakfast of cheesy toast and coffee
Miss 2bit is getting to be quite the little lady... mmm cheesy toast! :D
and otherwise mrs2bit had as little parental responsibility today as we could manage
cherish the days dan. you're gonna turn around one day and she'll be off to university
yep, I can second Kate's observation!
and how was MDay for you Nat? I'll ask nan as well, but suspect she os deep in the grid atm.
Isn't it your baby that jsut finished 1st year @ McGill?
Lovely. Got a very sweet card plus gorgeous French toast with homemade berry compote and cappuccino.
Yes, the very one. Gave birth one day, next day drove him to Montreal. That's how it feels anyhow.
What about you?
I don't know about your family situation
MMmmm <drool>
No MDay for me
I normally hate Hallmark card holidays but who am I to discourage my men from not taking me for granted one day a year
:D I have no objection to MDay.. think it's a nice idea.
it is as long as people don't use it to guilt trip their kids. As my son says, "I didn't ask to be born..." :-)
I have known some women who guilt trip their kids 365 :(
I figure raising my child is its own reward... not looking for a payback
but the card was all the nicer for being offered not compelled :-)
<3
mothers day and my birthday often fall together - phone calls from the boys and daughter always sends flowers, which I really appreciate.
How old is your son Natasha? --- sounds like a 14 year old's comment
Nan's come up for air! :) That's lovely nan.. has your birthday passed yet?
Haha he's 19 Nan but he's been saying that for a while... :-)
hi all back to find my last 36 words
Welcome back peri :)
birthday tomorrow
Natasha, I made rigatoni with an eggplant and tomato sauce yesterday for dinner
*maled mental no4/4 for natal greetings*
keep getting interrupted - haven't been able to work on the grid much!

Good morning all
Liz came back! :)
Haven't been here for about 12 hours! Slept in between.
almost done 16 left. hi liz
Is it lonely here today, Kate?
Hi Peri
36 left for me.
hi liz...
That looks like an original Ti-double G-er illustration dor your icon Liz :)
It certainly is! Big fans here.
Hi pen
go peri go! No not lonely Liz... been in and out all day
But of the original Pooh not the Disney ones.
would someone please volunteer to wash my dishes, please. I do not mind cooking but I do mind washing dishes and cleaning up.
Yes... Disney ruined Pooh (just a little) for me...
When we visit the UK, one of our favourite trips is to Pooh Bridge.
paper plates? I wouldn't mind washing your dishes, but hate wahing plastic containers.... and vacuuming - HATE vacuuming
Do you play pooh sticks when you get thee Liz?
I did vacuum the living room today, yay me
there*
Of course, Kate. But you do have to take your own sticks. I usually beat my hubby!
i did two loads of laundry and spent a couple hours trying to order some photo prints...
I do not like wshing plastic containers either. they never seem to get clean enough
Yay peri! Double dessert is in order ;)
It's such a great place - you meet really lovely people there. Older generations bringing younger generations.
pen has been very productive today!
either in6 pls
Especially if they've had anything containing spice or tomato - impossible to get properly clean.
yes, lol....two trips to the "dungeon" for the laundry....also went to dinner with my brother...
and played a few rounds of Words with Friends... ;o)
in 6 - both more words. One more of the black or blue writing liquid.
em 6 please?
em6 - em + vowel + can (add another vowel for the em 7)
ty liz.
yw
there are a few nan
2nd EM 6(/24) misspelled ratite and most of a cuppa
Thanks, Kate - was missing that one.
the ratite stands alone as a 4 as well
Found that one first.
:)
It's that weird spelling of it - so I often miss it.
still can't make it work following the bird
spell the bird w/alt spelling...and .most of not coffee...
As Kate said, just add most of a cuppa to the bird
bird has an extra vowel inserted nan still pronounced the same
ugh i am getting to the end of patience with this one
Know what you mean. Some really odd words today.
Hi TO :) there are several "stinkers" in this grid, but many use the same endings
ty --- was trying to add the can to the bird -- not really into this
back later
you have been overwhelmed bu the flowers nan :)
cr 7 (last CR word)?
next to last...
eu 7 pls?
EU Mr. Michael ***** brit
cr 7 - cr + vowel + not day
Thanks
CR 7/32 seeing vowel and not day
ty, liz and kate...
Never seen that eu 7 before.
yw
and done, off to do the dishes :(
Congrats, Peri
Congrats peri!!!
congrats...
washing dishes - not much of a prize for finishing grid :/
eu 7?
I agree - 8 more here then a walk on the beach. A much better finishing prize :)
Clued by Kate at 7.23
EU + Mr. Michael **** British actor of some epute
walk on the beach sounds much nicer :)
ty kate...
It will be - not that warm today but still a lovely autumn day.
Is it still really dry where you are Liz?
Not still. We're just moving into the dry season. For us, summer is usually wet. Over the last week or so it's been pretty dry - no humidity, which is great. Cool nights, also great.
I never thought of that on 7 as a single word.
last HO word?
I thought I saw someone from Oz writing about brush fires because it was too dry... must be further west... that word should be two IMO Liz... seems silly as one
tooter + vowel + preposition
There's a huge variation of climate in Oz. Where I am, winter is very dry and there can be fires then but where Grannyrose is, the fire season is summer.
We're lucky - not too many fires up here because our climate is semi-tropical.
ty, kate...
It's easy to forget how big your country is - we are so used to seeing the Mercator projections for maps... you have three time zones for goodness sake
glad you got that pen.. tryin to work on a better clue.
Don't you and the USA also have 3 time zones?
more than that Liz...
we have 4....not counting Alaska or Hawaii....
It takes 5 hours or more to fly from south to north Australia
Nfld, Eastern, Central, Mountain, Pacific... and there's Hawaii/ Alaska that may be all or part in another zone...
There's an extra one here too I think - a 30 minute change in part of S Australia.
tinnin 9 pls?
Fireworks - last word, ti 8. Phew!
in 9?
in + careful!
congrats, liz...
forgot Atlantic time
ty mo8?
Thanks. Sorry can't stay to chat more or clue but the beach is calling. Enjoy your evenings.

Random clue for lurkerz: TI 8/60 "pissier"
crinoline < - - my new phantom
:) is it crinkled?
crazy crinkled
my phantom is nene
:D Hi hurshy :)
hi
nono!
my phantom is economies
ha!
Nat came back :)
my phantom is fireworks
Hi Pastor :) Is that wishful thinking?
ubetcha!
not likely to see 'em
good one!
whaddya need Pastor...Nat is here, she's a good clier. (and you never know who's lurking)
Oh, i need over a hundred of 'em. Just gonna play until the dryer finishes, then off to bed! But I wish i could get that ti 8/60 for "pissier"!
it is a punny clue, pastor :)
... it's got a "k" in it
the pissier is based on what little kids call "doing number one"
... think the sound of little bells
think of the fairy from Peter Pan
know that lullaby by Mozart about the little star?
lol, I think we've tsunamied him with clues
(designed to draw a urker out of the fog...)
TKS - got it! (this pastor's a she, by the way)
... and I even kept the rude one to myself ... which would have given it away
(not that you'd have known from the screen name)
Ooh slap me for a dope! Hate that I assumed "Pastor" meant male...
you can make your person pink if you want people to know easily
no worries!
excellent! (As a UU I support women in the ministry, of course)
Thanks but as someone who once thought of being a rabbi, I should know better!
It's always a group effort here Pastor... so it might be helpful if your icon was pink - just for the sake of correct pronoun usage.. but hey, whadevvah ;)
(personally despise slotting sexes by colour... I was green - alien until that icon was discontinued years ago)
In honor of those who aren't cisgender, I'm trying to avoid the binary stuff, so no pink.
touche
:D good for you! please forgive mis-pronoun-ciation if it arises ;)
what if we all just used 'they'
then we'd all be grammatically incorrect
make up a new neutral person-word if you wish, but please .no offenses against grammar!!
... no ... I believe the OED has now recognized "they" as a non-gendered singular pronouin
:D
s/he
I used to rebel against they/them etc, but I'm beginning to see that our language is too limited. I do
... although "one" is also acceptable
n't know what else we could use.
we can make something up
che
I think doseffing is right - at least one of the major dictionaries has accepted it.
i recently read about a non-binary perons who preferred the pronoun ghe (pronounced zhay)
... they have ... I think it''s something like ze or zi
what did che do when the door was locked? che opened it with the key.
*person
ok, see, i will take any of those over misusing 'they' any day
innovate, innovate, innovate
... ah ... but misusing "they" can be merely using they differently ... which happens and has been happening all the time
yeah well. i hate it.
my son (who's at college) reports that "they" is becoming standard usage for singular... we lovers of good grammar may be fighting a rearguard action.
... consider "set" which has 128 different meanings according to the OED ... and "nice" ... which now means almost the exact opposite of what it meant late in the nineteenth century
Q- do you prefer not to be addressed as her/she? "lol, I think we've tsunamied him with clues" folks are saying them or che????
I don't like it either. I think an entirely different pronoun is needed.
language is always evolving, sometimes in ways that sound perfectly horrid. Oh well.
maybe the objective case of che is cher?
there's lots of things... not only do my students constantly say "on accident", but lots of teachers do too. doesn't matter, i won't give in. i know language always evolves and in theory i have no problem with language evolving but there are JUST. THINGS. THAT. GET. ON. MY. NERVES.
Trader, is that question general or for me?
... folks are only waiting for Handmaid's Tale to end on television this evening so that we can go to bed
yep, me too. I still get annoyed when people fail to spell "its" or "it's" correctly
I could forgive all if people would just stop inserting apostrophes where they don't belong. "It's" where "its" should be is like chalk on a blackboard!
ugh, yeah
general fot the room... and if you have a preference you may or may not answer as you choose.
mmm hmmmm
If it's for me, I took no offense at being referred to as 'he'; just wanted to take the opportunity to remind folks that pastors come in all genders!
But it has become so darned ubiquitous that I feel I need to stop caring.
nbs at last
it was a salutary reminder Pastor
I chose the generic "pastorj" mainly so my parishioners wouldn't catch me slacking off on babble ;->
... for all you know we're all your parishioners and we're just leading you on
At 64 I don't think I'd ever get used to being referred to as anything other than she/her.
LOL dose!
language is always enolving - yes,,, but we have a vastly descriptive lexucin, no excuse for bad usage of perfectly fune existing words... new tech or ideas need new wordes. otherwise I wish they'd stop rewriting English and dumbing it down
LOL dose.... making Pastor patanoid ;)
... they must dumb it down because many of them can barely read anything and I know they can't write ... I'm force to hire a translator to read they're writing and I'm only a poor old math teacher
My pastorate is part-time so I make my living working as an admin at another church, different denomination. That church had me go through its membership database and expunge mr./mrs/miss and any reference to gender. Pretty cool
anyone got the 4th row i word?
... and that should be their writing ... but after three beers who cares
aside from apostrophe abomination... the death knell of the adverb is sounding... and I am not happy about it
Ha!
Even most of the older folks are ok without their "status" being listed.
ir 6/21 ... means peaceful ... after a minor roman goddess with a girls name
ty dos
IN 7/32 IN 4/4
Anywho, the dryer has stopped. Thanks for the lively convo!
IN6/30
... heavens ... the adverb died fifty years ago ... there's even a society for the adverbs preservation
i like adverbs
I need to join... it sets my teeth on edge - ubiquitous even on tv (not cheap ads)
bye Pastor, stay longer next time!
... do you use good or well .... and how often do you omit the "ly"
origami snuck in when no one was looking! :)
i use 'good' to describe good things and i use 'well' to say when something has been done well. unless i wish to say that i am morally upright, in which case i will say i am good.
NEVER omit the LY and if one more person says they're good when I ask how they are. U might tell them that I didn't inquire as to whether they were behaving well
... do you feel good or well?
Hi Kate!
as a greeting? I am well..... if I feel good a la blues brothers...that's different
... ah ... but Miles Davis has just ended on the CD player ... so it must be time for bed .... ... 'til tomorrow ... g'night all
The answer to how are you is NOT "I'm good"> PERIOD
Niters dose, hope you don't feel chased away ;)
Poor grammar drives me insane.
We have 800,000+ words... German is 2nd with 550,000ish... We have a word for almost anything (new cioncepts and tech aside).. we don't need more words we need to dredge up the ones we have that are mouldering in their (premature) graves... grrr
Going to go pop dinner in the oven - back in a bit
:)
So Kate. In the 17'th century Quakers got beaten up for using the third person singular (the/thou) instead of you when talking to the nobility. Their argument was that it was dishonest to use a plural word to address a single person. English eventually adapted to use the plural form (you) in the singular as well as the plural. So there is precedent here for the change of they to be a singular form as well.
I don't disagree in this case wht (and hi!) To me, this falls under the category of new concepts.
Hi Kate.
I also tahe umbrage with the dropping of the "Greeky" oe and ae cimbos.. can't rememebr what they're called fOEtus archAEology....
I would support spelling reform if the movement ever got off the ground and if the reform were sensible
where would Babble be without "oea" words ;)
up a creek? LOL
Gwen... call me after you get on board with metric ;) LOL... simplifying and regulating for consistency might be of some help... keeping the old forms does help to understand word roigin and therefore meanhing.. and certainly helps with correct pluralisation
and another thing... it is usially "S" not "Z" in ---ise words...grrr
Right. We use the S far too often for the Z sound. This must stop completely.
At this point, I am afraid that text-speak would take over the dictionary.
wut u scared? LOL
No, no, and nope ;) you must realise that your thinking is incorrect ;)
I admit nothing!
:D I R scared and getting scarred by language abuse ;)
or is that I'z scared.
spelling reform should come from scholars, not a bunch of whiny murrican idjits
Agreed...if they could just bring the final "L" in a word into line, it woud help a lot of people... counseling, vs. counselling....
how about we replace -ing with a whole new letter LOL
(to me, "wut" rhymes with "soot" or "put", not "rut"...just saying)
conduct, conductg. easy peasy LOL
well, we have an interobang now, so Iam open to suggestins, but what is the matter with ---ing?
or the IPA letter that means ng
You are TRYING to drive me to drink, right? :D
words that end with -ed can end with a simple -d if there is not additional syllable called for
plus, WTF is up with the word syllable. who invented that one? lol
so, added becomes addd?????
silabl
Guessing Greek by the look of it... off to lioiok it up
no, added required two syllables, no change. but learn, learnd
darn, darnd
, from Anglo-Norman, alteration of Old French sillabe, from Latin syllaba, from Greek sullabē,
no, t
yeah, it's too Latin
learnt, ru4t
but there are learnED professors...and I learned (or learnt) yesterday... different pronunciations...
in the 19th century there were several competing systems of simplified spelling. I have a small collection of published examples.
yes, agreed there kate
learned is fine, but if you mean learnd or learnt you can spell it learnd or learnt.
spelling reform, if done well, will help people learn new words and how to pronounce them. like for example keenwa
----ED = pt....
learnED is not past tense but an adjective. learnd would be past tense. I learnd how to drive.
i used to have a code with my cousin that consisted of spelling everything totally phonetically, then putting it into a number code. that way you couldn't guess the words as easily and stuff if you had a sample of the code.
I owuld be interested in seeing those Gwen... I am really not against all newer spellings as long as root remains easily discerned.
I took an English etymology course in high school. That course, more than any other, taught me how to guess the meaning and spelling of words I didn't know.
That's cool hurshy!
thumbs up, origami
TY jorigami... one of the points I was making rather poorly
42 words to go, good time to absquatulate *poink*
:D fake new word pretensions to Latin; ty for that one Gwen! ;)
i have only found the sea bird from the E on the right
completely agree with Gwen's example of Quinoa;;;keenwa.... who the heck dreamed up quinoa in the first place??? From 17th century Spanish, can't find how long it's been in our dictionary
well in spanish that makes sense.
After spending $800 on my two dogs a couple of weeks ago for various

I have given up - love me, love my typos ;/
Indiana now has to be on a medication that stops the brain from feeling itching - or something like that. The scratching from allergies is what is causing the infections.
ooh i want a medicine like that
So, Indiana has scratched (her)self raw? poor thing.. what is the allergen?
Ha! Well, it is called cytopoint. And it can be used prophylactically, so he can get a dose in late winter/early spring before the allergies start.

Hey cos. Nice to see you here
hi bugs
I hope today was a good day. They come and go. Doesn't seem to be any reason
today was espcially bad
I kept cussing ryan out nonstop and now im in tears lol
I was worried about that. Anger is part of the process. You are not a bad person for having these feelings. Everyone does when they lose a loved one. It doesn't mean you didn't love him. I hope you can forgive yourself and just let it happen until it doesn't seem necessary any more.
sending hugs and love out to you
I couldnt do it anymore. I couldnt put up with his drinking. Im glad I dont have to deal with it anymore.
((cos)) <3
You should not have had to put up with it. It is ok to be angry. He had his demons and your love protected him from them for a long time, then he wouldn't let your love heal him any more. It was his choice.
he really screwed me over
he may have but you are a good person and I hope will be strong enough to find your feet again. You have lots of friends who love you who will help.
hi Kate.
He didn't setout to do that to you cos. The adiction was overwhelming for him. I am sure he loved and appreciated all you did and all you meant to him.
I agree with Kate. She just said it better than I did.
cos, whatever you're feeling is okay. You're going to be on a roller coaster for a while and things will remain surreal for a bit...you're going to experiencs all the stages of grief, and sometimes that will mean that you go forwards and back a bit. Completely normal. The most important thing is that each day you will find yourself in the same place or a little further ahead in the process. The process can't be forced. If anger is what you are dealing with now, yell at him and tell him off. Do it out loud.... from the gut. Neighbours be damned. It will likely make you feel better.. and a good cry is very cathartic.... it releases endorphins; you will feel better for it. That is pure science... and a very good folk cure.
My husband is dead. He was 34. Seriously? What the hell

Are you angry that you will not have "forever" together? or angry that he has left you alone. Do you really know why you are angry?
