lots of columbus monuments have been vandalized over the years, every year, plenty of first nations groups deface columbus in the southwest. columbus is a problematic figure, he was a great explorer, he was also a slave trader whose men committed atrocities. erasing romantic myth and owning the truth behind history is perhaps not a terrible thing.

You're a lot milder there, aren't you? Have RR friends in the Forks, they're not amused. Those Subarus... people swear by them! Good thing for you ori - first snow is always tough.
Up North in that area of MN, the temp is often double digits below zero; and the wind makes it worse. Down here the humidity is much more noticeable & if it dips below zero here it doesn't stay there for days & days.
I was visiting a ghost town (Brodie) high up in the desert mountains.
By yourself? Sounds interesting; but not something I'd care to do alone.
I love that the bodies of water help keep us milder, but we pay with humidity too.
My friend was with me. It was interesting.
Visiting ghost towns is fun but I prefer someone with me too - jsut in case I go exploring and fall through a floor or something...
It has an interesting history. At one time 10,000 miners lived there. It is very isolated and can be a very hostile environment.

No, we weren't staying in the ghost town :D That was a side trip.
Lone Pine is south of Bishop on 395. We had to stay in Independence - about 15 mi North.

I was so busy reading the puns I missed the details!
I was prepared to hate it. I am not a huge fan of Westerns. But it was really enjoyable. Visited a couple of interesting museums and went on three tours of the area highlighting locations where movies were made (lots of lots of movies made out there) and a geologic tour that was pretty interesting.
And visited Manzanar.

I've been looking into them...
I use both. Stove top mainly to do my canning; electric one (instant pot) to do cooking. Love it.
They do make cooking "real" food much faster.
Personally, if you want a new gadget; I think an instant pot would be fabulous

I am trying to stick with my belief that "it is what it is" and "it's all good". Everybody deserves a chance to prove themselves and I will give that to my new supervising teacher. It will just be quite a change when my dear friend is no longer my teaching partner. I will make every effort to find or assist in finding the best person to fill her shoes and keep our program moving in an upward direction. The students deserve nothing less.
