stop ANGEL
Please don’t interfere, ru.
Keep it up angel ; I didn't have two of those
wish she would find some I don't already have
how oblivious do you have to be to put in that many words
People have literally posted the entire word list in here before. This is pretty minor stuff.
I’ve done more. It’s easy early on.
But it's happening way too often
she put in about 30 the other night
I think Angel has the chat closed and does not realise where the words are going ??
If the chat's closed, how can she enter into the chat box?
bingo
:)
Time for a swim - Merry Xmas to all celebrating.
oh true i suppose :)
I grant you that would be a trick! lol
good night everyone :)
I'm at better than halfway and NBT, and that's all I'm going to achieve tonight. G'night all, I'll most likely kill you in the morning.
kill us?
It's a quote from a movie. Not a Christmas movie though, so I'll add a quote appropriate to the season :
"What shall we hang? The holly, or each other?"
so6, please?
phantom: scrofula
and scrooooooge :)
I'm looking, Marc, hang on.
Marc, do you have the 7 above it?
yes
Do you need a clue for that 7?
Marc, I can't find it yet.....Let's see if someone else will help. Will someone please give Marc a clue for so6-36/
good Xmas morning all
Hey there, dear one.....please help Marc with so6-36.
Merry Christmas to all and welcome sprite

I fould it. I found it. Darn that was giving me fits.
B's Bonked
yay peach! And Boutstanding, Burshy!
so then the so7 just before that on the list must be more serious.
yep it is
a serious 5-7-7
ahhh TWO 7s
it is a grid of endings
it is of endings that i wish to speak
*grins*
(that's a quote from star trek VI)
I actually recognised it
oh good, then that's why you grinned!
i love in that scene when spock says, "logic, logic, logic... logic is the *beginning* of wisdom, valeris, not the end."
yep. Love to recognise quotes :D
lol that is a great one
coffee time... have fun all, and enjoy your day. May your day be merry, bright and easy :)
Happy Christmas all and joys of the season
Happy Christmas to you, matty!
what? how come oofy isn't in the dictionary?
cuz its goofy
and it rhymes with my chow's name, Rufie -- part of many "dog songs"
no, "oofy" is a slang term for "very wealthy"
at least in PG Wodehouse :)
ohhh - that's another language - like jabberwocky
l have a dog named Rufie, who's sometimes kind od goofy, and when he'spetted he says"oofy"
i always assumed it was an accurate reflection of the slang of the era depicted...
lol
Merry XChristmas everybody!!
aha, it IS
((zzoozz)) how are you doing?
tis in the OED as such
((Ruby)) So so. how are you today. Hope you are well?
doyou have an OED chez vous?
no, and i don't even have ME chez moi
but the online OED, i have
My weekend helper, Nermin, came at 7 to make a fire and walk the dogs and stay long enough forme to bathe.
That is good to hear!
oooooOh, Ee Dee! That's the highest wordwork you can go! I was just thinking about georgette Heyer. She made up so much Regency vocabulary that scholars picked up and used that some of the words were accepted, others they're not sure about.-
I shall remember oofy, hurshy
He didn't want money, but l insisted! Also gave himChampagne
Hi ruby, zooz
Hello, JWR :-)
how was your eve?
interesting, i haven't heard of her before. perhaps i will just have to read some of her works!
That is nice of you, Ruby! Nice of him too :-)
hij jwr
He's a very large angel, part of my small coterie of wonderful people here
hurshy, they're "regency romances" - the best of the best (and a mystery series in mod times she did later on but not nearly as well)
Does anybody Watch The Inquests of Vera?
It is good to have a network of friends and helpers around you, Ruby. I am pleased that you have that!
Champagne? Nice tip.
l am very fortunate
It is Jwr!
crore
I don't think that show is available in the US, ruby. There's "Vera" from Ann Cleeves' books. Marvelous. Set in Northumberland.
sorry everyone take it as a christmas gift from me to you
hah! Look, hurshy! zooz is rich!
Haha! Would be nice.
only if you live in India, though.
much-needed -- this grid has more phjantoms than words
it does indeed
It's diz-making
Well had better go. Dad is back in hospital so need to go and visit him. Hope you all have a wonderful day!
l wish Zooz lived closer; we're not so distant (as the crowflies, but even though Z is an angel, l Don't think his wings could carry him this far
Take careof yourself zzoozz
so sorry zooz. Take him greetings from San Francisco, please.
<-- loves San Francisco -- many nicememories
ruby - how's by you?
when? what did you do there?
lt's OK;my nasty cancer seemstobe undercontroland the health service here is fabulous!

When l worked in the store construction biz,l used to fly to the west coast for a Week or two every couple of months, fromeither NY orMiami
sorry for terrible typos
That's how I wound up living here. When I'd go back and forth frorm Tokyo, that was my stopover and many friends settled there so I started staying with them ... and finally moved where all the fun was.
l was Lucky enough t go to Tokyo several times and l loved it, especially the food
I spend a lot of time copy editing for friends, ruby. i get tired of looking for less-than-perfect and settle for my own typos and everyone else's. It matters not - unless you want to spend time in the PB. I can't.. I'm on a diet.
l can't see well enough to correct typos
what kind of diet?
Lived there through most of the 70s. Japanese pay; Japanese lifestyle. Diabetic, I'm afraid, ruby. I adore San Francisco but all the work here has been sedentary for the last 30 years or so - the result was predictable, but I didn't pay attention.
Also gout. Same thing. Too much red meat and seafood.
lots of good veg and fruit here, though, but still too much bakery goods.'
macular degeneration, ruby?
l'm on a weight stabilization diet. l weighed less than 90 lbs, 2 years ago, but l'm back to 98!
oh my - we should trade off, ruby
Unfortunately all my visitors bring sweets andl try to eat only nutritious foods and eat all day lkong
Good for you though. A friend of mine is in the same situation. Her goal is a pound a year. (she's 82)
Because this area is way inland, seafood is not an optiin as it's either frozen of "off"
Visitors will do that! But I once visited someone in hhospital and brought her salad. It was a marvelously tasty salad. But she never spoke to me again.
Having grown up in NY and lived in Miami, the seafood here disgustsme
haha
l try to eat salad, but can't spend much time on my feet
By the time l cook dogs' dinner,l'mready for bed
The gout wasn't from SF, Ruby. I grew up on the East Coast, though. Lobster, crab, clams and oysters.'
muff
Where in the East?
that made me laugh ruby. my worst phantom has been fluff
my joke answer to that is: "a little island off the East Coast" but I'll tell you: Manhattan
as my dad put it the first time he heard the phrase: a little pit in the Big Apple
I grew up in Queens, but moved to Manhattan at 19
100 years ago
Aha! Born in Jersey City, grew up in lower and then upper east side, summer in Vermont, Colorado - vacations in Canada
WHAT???
l miss NY sushi and real Chinese food. This part of France is all about cheese
A Happy Christmas to all Babblers.
NY sushi is excellent, less expensive than Tokyo. I couldn't afford it in Japan!
l'm old, but not that old, still dance a little salsa on a good day
hi roncook. same back atcha'
l had a local sushi resto in NY where the chef would call me Nancy-San and bring me all sorts of exotica to eat, even "dancing sushi"
hi Ron
I wasn't about to believe that ruby. Had a dear friend, -- actually a friend of my parents, her daughter and I were born a day apart -- but she became my friend when I grew up. She learned to email at 96, died at 104 a week after giving me an answer to a NY Times Sunday crostic.
Both of my parents had macular degeneration, so it's funny that you asked
<loves crostics l get the Int'l edition of the NYT but although it has the crosswrds,my sister has to send me the crostics, abagrams, spirals, etc
It's terribly common. Opthalmologists didn't talk about it much because there wasn't anything they could do about it but now they can at least explain the difference with "wet" and "dry" and how to live with either.
My sister, at 81 uses drops
So far, l've been spared
If you're doing the British type of crostics, that's way over my head, ruby.
l can't do the British ones,l'm happy with the Tims (andl'm not as quick as l was!)
I use a gel at night. I have the "slow" kind. All MD is pretty much hereditary so I kind of knew it. But I still sit at the computer most of the day. And then work on the crisis lines most of the night. So.oooo.
send me an e-mail and we can chat without moniopolizing the chog My address is in my profile
Will do. Agree, tho I thought people just came in when they felt like it. Bye for now.
l hardly ever leave the house. lt's big and pretty, but has no heat.
Justme and dogs, husband died
sent you an email, ruby

I'm aiming for 5 here. Depending on when people get here.
I've never had Christmas dinner at 11:30. Is that a tradition for you, mlf?
I'm doing roasted small new potatoes.. not mashed today.. with garlic, shallots, and rosemary
I better start getting stuff ready..
have a great dinner Molly and a nice gathering
I'm doing loaded potato casserole.
You too Ru, bless the chef. : )
What is a loaded casserole?
I have heard of loaded chefs but not casseroles
It is like a loaded baked potato (bacon, green onions, cheese, butter) in casserole form. I say it's Christmas, go for the fat and calories.
right on
fatten them up for a new year's resolution
that sounds good.. what kind of cheese.. cheddar?
any cream?
I am finding this grid unfriendly. Listing at 55.
