When I picked up Lickety's Babble Clues, the grid is different from today's has anyone else come across such a difference?
hello flosey. no probs here
Hi Rose, tks for responding I even closed it and came in again - same thing
okay, you have hit the refresh button, yes?
the top line of the babble clues is NAECR but the grid in Babble is ESMSL is that what others have found?
mine has ESMSL on the list. did you try the refresh arrow?
all fine here - refresh lickety
Ah, so I've found words with an incorrect grid??
have gone out and come in again, same thing
flosey, close and reopen babble itself.
good morning all. That looks like a total waste of a good Qu tile.
you hace yesterdays grid up still.
{{{{spritey}}}}}} how's my bestie today?
have gone out and come back - same old - yesterday;s
will try again
flosey, try the refresh arrow on the babble site then.
flosey, click somewhere on the blue background, then do Control + F5
*hugs rose* I am okay. Rob is ill :( Not an easy situation, with me not able to go about. We both have to fend for ourselves and get through this as best we can.
*hugs flosey* Hello dear lady, how are you doing?
poor Rob. i feel for you both.
he is staying home from work today, that says enough about how he is feeling. Poor darling.
hi there Sprite - am a bit more than frustrated with tonight's babble - have gone out and come in a few times and still shows yesterday's grid, not the same as in babble clues
try my suggestion. A force refresh often does the trick.
hmmmm, don't know how to do that Sprite
click with the mouse somewhere on the blue background, then hold the Control key and push F5
same grid still showing!!
think I'll have to pass on tonight's grid - will try tomorrow morning, may have better luck BUT, thanks for suggestions
yvw, wish it had worked. You may have to empty your cache. You can try the force refresh a couple of times in a row if you like, that sometimes helps too.
tried again, same old!! Will see what tomorrow brings
so frustrating. *hugs flosey*
tks Sprite, and goodnight to all, will hope for better luck tomorrow
sleep well, flosey
sweetest of dreams. it was lovely to see you, albeit a frustrating one also.
how are you doing today, rose? Did Don have a good day yesterday?
ummm a bummer day today.... break through back pain. a slow burning aching which endone did help. also knee hates me. prepping for hospital admission tomorrow . pre-admitted for monitoring while taking the actual prep stuff. procedure on Wedneday.
is that for the endoscopy etc?
yesterday was the funeral for John Smith. this guy founded God Squad here in melbourne, since then it has gone australia wide, and now in five countries overseas. it was a wonderful celebration of his life.
yup, top and tail... hope doctor doesn't mix up the equipment...
may he rest in peace
poor darling. I will be thinking of you, honey.
don't think too hard. i am going to be too scared to cough, sneeze or giggle....
I will picture you in the Big Guy's loving hands, it will be okay.
thank-you sweetheart. i know. just uncomfortable. i am soooo hungry. i am used to scoffing heaps of fruit etc when i want to do so. and no sangria MWAHHH
*nods understandingly* Agony, pure and simple. Try keeping an icecube in your mouth.
good thought
phantom: utmost
I should give terra his breakfast. But once he has had it, he will want to go outside and that requires Rob to get up and dressed. So I am sitting here, waiting for Terra to wake up and demand food... until then... am sitting as quietly as I can
did you drown in the hiccup or is there a squirrel?
apologies honey. squirrel. back with you now. xoxox
all good :) I know how you are with squirrels, lol
haha
well, Terra has had his breakfast and Rob is up, doing a little round with him.
you finished the grid yet?
no, not yet
unusual for you, mistress of the flying fingers and keys....
lol! Have to put my laptop away every now and then to see to Rob and Terra. Things are a bit more complicated with a sick husband. Hard to predict which things I have to take over from him and which things he insists on doing himself...
*hand up for attention* i hope he doesn't need help to go potty....
his bladder is giving him hell, he is up every hour at the very least to go potty. Has been that way for half a week. Told him to take his pee to the doctor... he forgot! How can you forget when you feel the urge to pee every 10 minutes?
dos it sting when he pees?
not really. Right now it is not totally clear whether it is a bladder infection or his prostate. We will see. Doc wants his pee first :)
if it is a bladder infection, that could be why he feels so ill... tell him i'm coming over to smack him...HARD. *sigh* he isn't getting a gold star for NOT going to the doc.
lollll rob says to ask you who you are bringing along to smack him... he will spit you a black eye and drive your crazy with his feints :)
lol... i'll use the whole chicken and not just the feather....does he want the chicken fried or roasted??
oh and tell him i'll bring my right army and my left army... more thanenough...lol
roflollllll rob asks if the chicken may please be dead
hahahahahaha can't type....
right, have calmed down for now.... tell him he's a spoil sport... half the fun will be runnung after the chicken to catch it..
he is not doing a lot of running, poor man... his knee is giving him hell. You could do a limping race together
and trip him up with my cane... good idea !!
you win!
though rob is right now looking around the caravan to find both of my crutches :D
*giggle* how can you lose a pair of crutches in a caravan?
oh, I know exactly where they are. Rob doesn't. Male, you know. Can't see what is right in front of him.
and when are you going to let him in on the secret?
never. They are MINE! My precioussssesssss!
oh dear.....
*giggles* We have this lovely windchime that we brought along when we moved to the caravan. Rob thought it would be nice to hang it in the awning. Ever since, we have been having spring storms. I make him take them down every few days, they drive me nutty, lol.
oh heavens..... chimes during the day okay, at night not right...loll
exactly. Especially with storm. It is not the occasional nice little chime, it is a constant barrage of noise.
maybe a new nightly core, go out and immobilise the chimes for the night?
*chore*
nah, he has taken them down now and we will not put them up again until the weather starts behaving.
oh good grief.... now the "experts" are telling us time out for misbehaving kids can damage the kid.
oh for crying out loud...
*eye roll* even a traumatised child would benefit time to calm done before going on with what ever.
nothing wrong with teaching a child where the boundaries are. Makes for happy, relaxed children.
and keeps the parents' sanity intact
ugh... my temperature has just gone up... feel like i'm burning. going to turn fan on.
*sends some of the spring storm rose's way* Poor darling :( When are you going in for the infusions?
next monday...
ah good. One more week.
fireflies
WTG SPRITE !!!
what was your last? mine was to4/5....i totally missed it
am gonna try and wash the dishes. Rob is off to bring his pee to the doc.
mine too!
what a good lad he is... see what a little chicken can do?
roflollllllllllllllllll
gosh I love you so much, you crazy woman!
that's helpful... 'cos i love you tooo
*hugs* to you and to the Donster. I hope the pain will subside and you will cool down a bit, so that you can sleep. You will be in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow. *hugS*
*hugs* honey...
and to you all, a blessed day and a peaceful night, in any order you like

Back. Hello Molly
OnSaturday, there were three herons in the garden at the same time. l've never seen more than one. They were very close to the house and stayed more than ten minutes
I love herons. They are beautiful birds.
lt was thrilling!
There must be a lot of fish in your pond if there were three there at once. They are solitary creatures.
The fish as still in the mud as it's too cold
There are at least 200, maybe more
If they are still as mud, they are easy to catch
lf l run out of money, i can eat them -- just not Spot, or Clown, or Whitey
No, the pond is too deep for that. Since there's no TV down there, they are probably making babies
lt looks like snow!
ready for a nap, see you later
are there 11 or 12 7's? I only have 11
never mind, I found the 12th one
If you look at the word stats, it says 12
Morning, Molly. Hope you had a good weekend.
Too short, as usual. How about you?
Busy!
Hmm, busy as a buzznbea
Yes. Its' springtime in the south.
ac 7/44, pls
past tense of 6/27
It's still a little chilly here but the daffodils are coming up and the trees are starting to bloom. I planted some herbs and lettuce and have a basket of pansies hanging.
I love pansies. Ours wintered over nicely.
ty dose
We are in the process of seeding and prepping the garden. Also getting the porches ready for plants.
We're still having nights in the 20's
All the plants we seed go into trays then into the greenhouse under grow lights. Still a bit cold at night to put them in the ground outside.
We've got spring peas and lettuces planted in the ground of the greenhouse.
I remember planting peas on St. Patrick's day. It was wicked cold
All my weeds are planted. lol

mixi....are you still playing tennis?
Ca +v + word for social or professional standing, take out two vowels **AT**. sorry best I could do at this time.
yes, I am on two teams this spring.
playing about 5 times a week.
nice....i am going to play mixed 6.0 this spring...
wish I could play more often....playing 2-3 times a week.....not sure that my arm could take much more....
I'm on 3.0 and 3.5 teams.
I used to play in leagues but have only done clinics since my shoulder surgery like 3 years ago. I just want to play for fun but all my tennis friends are in too many leagues and have no time for fun. :D
also going to Pinehurst in April.
i used to play on a 3.0 team, but we had trouble finding enough people, so there were some 2.5 players....almost always lost if paired with one....frustrating....
Pinehurst?....nice!
glad you are having fun, carla.....i figure i will play as much as I can, since I don't know how much longer i will be able to play....
you already know your team is going to Pinehurst or you're just going no matter what?
I'm not really having fun, penquis, no one to play with!
no clinics to play in?....i do a net play clinic every week and it's a lot of fun...
I'm going to the 70s invitational.
nice!....have you been there before?
I was a 3.5 the last time I had a rating. I played a lot with my teenagers over Xmas break (on hard) and my knee hasn't recovered since. I'm not that old, I just feel like it.
no.
i am sure it will be lots of fun....
mixi, are you the one who lives on the Va border or is that someone else here from NC?
I'm near Chapel Hill. Central NC
i am going to the Outer Banks in April....looking forward to warmer weather....
There is a lady I clinic with who is like 73 and amazing. I hope to be able to still play, but I may have to take up pickleball.
ok, that was someone else then. I am in Clt area.
I've been in Maine in August lots. It's nice then. Boothbay region.
i am hoping that spectennis will come to my area....it's like a cross between pickleball and tennis.....you can see a video on YouTube....
We went to Acadia one summer and it is outstanding. I was ready to move there until my husband reminded me of the winters.
My sister lives in Maine.
We went to Acadia last summer. It was beautiful.
i like Boothbay.....i am up the coast about an hour and a half from there....
does she live in Boothbay?
I haven't heard of that. Just found out about pickleball in the last couple of years on our RV trips.
Carla....we do have winters, but no hurricanes, tornadoes, mudslides, forest fires, etc... ;o)
Waldoboro
ah....i am close to Waldoboro.....nice pub there.... ;o)
good point. I have been here 24 years now and have never seen a hurricane, tornado, mudslide, or forest fire though. haha
also like to go to Morse's Sauerkraut and European Deli in Waldoboro...yummy....
My sister and brother-in-law moved to Maine for retirement. They are big into the historical county stuff.
ah...i know a lady who has written some historical Waldoboro stuff.....
have seen a couple of hurricanes, but since we are 150 miles inland....
exactly, we are even farther in, and Hugo (that went straight through) was before I moved here.
Lost power for a few days, but I had no major damage. knock on wood.
alright, I have surpassed halfway. going to have to get on with my day and come back later. nice chatting!
29 left. tennis in an hour.
good luck in your game, mixi...i am off as well.....bbl to finish....bye all....
does the ca 7 end in s?
yes
yes, ends in you and me together
and starts with ca4/8?
no
I got it never mind ty
ye 5 clue pls?
jewish matchmaker, mlf
hi trif ty
cu8?
no problem mlf
sorry ne 5 clue pls?
mixi yo have to go through this before you can enter some foreign countries.. the 7 is the pl
Cu 8 first four letters of the yellow sweet sauce you put on roly poly + plural of a poem that is sung.
ty and hello zooz
do you have ne 5?/
Hello, Mlf.
ne + man's name
Ne + most of a big puff of wind.
Or what, Ruru said.
that sounds like a fart Zooz
Hi everyone! What's a roly poly?
sandwich. looked it up.
A pudding with jam in it.
ty zooz
A roly poly is a bug where I come from
ty for the ne5
fw
congrats mixi
oh, a caterpillar
Hi everyone! Sauce on a pill bug was my first reaction!
No, they are actually called pill bugs. They are little beetle like things that will roll into a ball if you touch them.
Close up they look like little armadillos
I am lost. I'll just babble along and maybe later this will all make sense.
Gramma, if you google jam roly poly.
The NY Times had an interactive a few years ago that asked you e.g. what you called those, and other regional specific terms. It was scary how close where you grew up could be pinpointed. Soda, coke, that kind of thing on the quiz.
I think it was just for the US though.
Pill bugs are called woodlice here?
Yes, there is a book with most of that.
http://www.tekstlab.uio.no/cambridge_s\nurvey/maps/21
There is an old saying .... The Americans and British divided by a common language :)
zooz, I googled it and it looks wonderful.
I must have known someone from New Orleans because I definitely knew the word doodlebug when I was a kid.
And it tastes wonderful too,Gramma!
Gramma Roly Poly is very easy to make, you can steam of bake it and it is cheap to make.
If you try that link, take the \n's out of it
I did read a recipe or two and I'll have to make it for my grands.
Very filling, especially on a cold winters day .
True lol
http://www.tekstlab.uio.no/cambridge_s\nurvey/
I give up. Still puts the newlines in on chat.
K.Elisabet, babble does not like links. It will always add/n into it.
This chat is written to only take so many characters without a space. If there are more than that it adds the \n and blows the chat width. That is why we use tinyurl.com for links here
Best to use tinyurl if you can.
Now I'm laughing about some Brit here saying they are eating roly poly and Americans thinking that person is eating bugs
Ha! Gross.
I read it's also called dead mans leg. So you tell me which is worse.
I also can't get the Bob Wills song out of my head now, thanks. Lol.
Sorry, but Spotted Dick is the worst
Daddys little fatty...
And yet so yummy, Molly.
some just have freckles molly :D
Did I just say that lol
MollyL ... funny
And yet (and thank God) there is no Brit dessert called Freckled Dick
Ha ha .
good morning all :)
freckles make them cuter :D
Time for a cup of tea and a biscuit. Back later. Hello, nan.
good morning cyber
ruru what are you drinking instead of coffee besides water?
there has to be a better substitute for coffee than water -
No coffee?
Bushmill's maybe, or Bailey's?
i'm drinking a lowered acid coffee ori recommended to me .. it's not too bad
was the caffeine intake also an issue for you?
no.. that wasn't the problem.. although i don't drink it after noon
ruru congrats on being able to do that. I don't drink as much coffee as I used to. Its the type of coffee I think that is causing me to reduce my intake. I don't really "need" it
i need the caffeine to get my heart started :D
ruru started? you wouldn't be here right now if it wasn't beating lol
clues for the gy words?
ah.. found the other 9
Other 9?
oh.. the 9.. i had an eight
I'm just used to saying I found the 9
Oh good, I was having one of those "What am I missing" moments
only a 9 and 3 8s
** and gimble in the wabe
k elsabet is that for the gy words?
ah yes I know that poem:D
yes, for the gy
i got it should have seen it ty
gy4 is actually a real oceanography word. As opposed to most of the words in that poem.
mosh still not a word, no matter how many times I try to make it one
And gimbal is a real word, but Gimble is a name. Speaking f Western swing - Johnny Gimble was a friend of a friend.
stop trying to make "mosh" happen!
also fest not a word (unlike fetch) :D
closed out the s's.. this is going well now
And it really is a word - the term mosh pit has been in use for decades. In some circles, anyway.
I know!
Mosh lives matter
One time I was at a Metallica concert and the mosh pit migrated around to us and then stopped. My husband wanted to get the heck out but it was like 100 degrees bad air quality day so I didn't want to leave that open space. He still complains about that.We did not do any moshing but almost got hit.
<--not a Metallica fan
rure not a Metallica fan either
Well, that was in my 20s but I am still a fan. Not sure I'd go to a concert now though. I actually just had to pick up a sick kid at school and on the way home "One" came on the radio and I was sad I didn't get to listen to the whole thing. LOL
lol hokie
i sure am missing a bunch of c's
that's what I'm working on and can't find
A lot of the c words are oddballs
with so many nonexistant words, I don't know how anyone gets through the grids without a list anymore
yeah, I always have to use the list, but I am getting better at when I go to it.
It seems like half the definitions I read either make it a Non-English word, ancient, archaic or Middle English
it's the ones that give tense to a noun or adjective that make me wonder
well, I was able to guess some c's. 4 left, so I'm moving on the d's for now!
gave up on the c's as well
te 7-8 please?
I do not like C words hi all
I only have 8 of them
hi
face palming myself for taking so long on de5/20
done with the c's
te 7-8 please?
I have no 8;s or the 9
the 9 and 1 8 were easy when I saw their place on the list. are you asking for clues or just stating that?
clues pls
nm, you are answering cybernan
also need a clue for the first se 5 please?
ac8/9 - getting used to doing something

LOL, rururocks
se 5/14 - musical term. add it to pro and it's an italian sparkling wine.

thought the ca began with most of julius, but still don't see an ending
someone below mentioned a character from Gunsmoke that rhymed with it
monkeyed it - ty ru
ce 6 please? -- need both
those are 2 I left for later. no idea
6/24 has what I think of as a greek ending
or maybe it's the 21 that is greek and the 24, latin
cu 8 please?
off for breakfast - hopefully there will be some help available then :)
yeah, sorry I don't have that one yet
found the ce 6's -- see 11:23
thanks, I saw, but still don't see :D
begin with french for this is
will have to try later. only 7 left after the list.
finally remembered the french and got them, thanks!
cu8 starts with the first four of the who gets the kids in a divorce word and ends with epic poems
thx, was in the middle of looking that one up and was still going to miss it
fireworks! just looked up the last 2 t's so I could be done. :D
It seems really unfair that the title of William Blake's most famous poem is not in the word list and all these obscure archaic foreign terms are.
... my guess is no one else ever spelled it that way even then ... so that his spelling is being taken as a special form or proper noun ...
de 5/20, pls
... to remove chewy stuff from the bottom of your shoe
ty for the cu 8
desscrape? am I close?
Okay, I can see that. He does capitalize it throughout.
... ssuff that comes in a package of baseball cards
te 7-8 please?
ty dose
... yeah ... that indicates that he's using it as the cats name rather than as a word for the species
... a word for a short school exam ... followed by most of a Japanese form of martial arts ( ... lose the first letter)
no idea on the martial arts, dos
got it - ty dos
*!*~*!* some tough ones in there
Well done, nan. Could you perhaps give me a nudge on the martial arts, the ending for the te, please?
... glad to help
the te7/8, that is
... try this one ... most of the girl's name of the Duberville family ... followed by most of the English dynasty that include two Henries, an Edward, a Mary and an Elizabeth ( the first one)\
ty, dos
... most welcome
What? You don't think people would get it with "movable shelter for war?" : D
lol, Molly
... oh I'm sure the army brats among us would get it ... but I don't know any ...
... must go get some lunch ... luck to all who continue the struggle
a clue for se5,14 please?
et 6/27, pls
never mind
27 points pretty much guarantees that a high point tile is involved
ty Molly
Back for some more of the 43 left...
Finally fouund your shelter, Molly. =) Yes, I believe it is a new word for Babble.
Last word was st7/36...and here I am a teacher...bzz...
Disappointed that "todger" is not in the dictionary.
stats for the 9 pls
AC 9/78
Sam, I tried that too lol....Although change the first for a valid word.
is AC 9 related to any of the Ac 7s
No, it's related to a word that means to get used to (ac8 and ac9)
FW finally.
I got the co6/30 right away. I know so many of them.
hi all. need clues for the N bottom row. just not seeing that word.
ty
ends with a man's name, mkg. ne5/16
can I have a clue for the fe6?
