Hi Ruby, perfect to be seeing birds doing a mating dance today. It's Beltaine, the pagan day to celebrate the renewal of life.
Heere, it's May Day, another French excuse for not working.
In Queens, growing up, we used to go to a park, miles from the schools, and dance around Maypoles! l was in 5th grade.
tHIS MAKES ME HAPPY§
I'm pretty sure the whole May pole thing comes from the original Pagan celebration. A lot of currently celebrated holidays borrow from old Pagan traditions. (Easter eggs)
wrapped in blanket, playing babble, wath for birds AND listening to Bach solo violin
l'm sure you're right. There are too many holiday "coinciences" for that not to be the case -- Passover, Easter, Halloween, All Souls, etd
coïncidences* sorry for al the typos
pheronym
I finally found some healthy geraniums yesterday. A nice splash of red in my outdoor flowers.
l haven't bought mine yet, need to coordinate with a friend to drive me and carry all the plants
A trip to the garden center is on my list of "favorite things to do". If you and I could go together, we would probably drop a load of cash between the two of us.
buy the smallones that coe in flats for the borders ad the three big ones will go in Chinese bronze pots

ruby, May Day in Queens. How well I remember
Bichon, did your cass go to the My Dat festivities. Which public school did you attend? l went to 109
I went to 42 in Rockaway. I was among a group of kids who did go
For me, it was the highlight of the school year
Bonjour, Montreal
*Imagines lil' Ruby and lil'Bichon dancing around the Maypole
I don't know if other states celebrated May Day like us in NYC
Gichon, l Don't remember is the whole 5th grade went, three clases of avout 30, each
No, only select kids went.
My mother used to make me a special frilly skirt for that day
I don't remember my mom making a dress
lt was really speccial!
remembering malsmehappy and that was my favprite te&cher's class
There were lots of disruptive kids in our school. That's why only selected kids went
Starting with 1st grade, they arranged u by age, then 4th grade, it was by lQ
Can you imagine if they could still do that
lm wrong, there have to have been more classes in a grade.
pe7, please?
found it thanks
ruby, I do remember by IQ, but I don't remember the year we started.
i went to elementary school in canarsie and jamaica - i vaguely recall may day trips, but for sure we danced and decorated whatever poles were on school property
We did that at our school too
hello friends. You are breaking my heart - I would LOVE to have schools organized in ANY way but by age. It is ludicrous to assume all children know the same materials simply by virtue of age.
Our schools were segregated by color.
oh dear. That is a rather different issue. gulp

I got a cutting from my mom's snowball bush a few weeks ago and it looks so pretty right now.
I'm in full garden mode this week. Planted 45 tomato plants yesterday and will plant that many more today.
I wish, still too cold here to do much
We have not planted anything yet because every year we do it before spring break and then have to get someone to come water.

When is spring break, carla?

We have drip irrigation in our garden but someone has to be around to cut it on.

It's a Scot word for state of agitation or excitement. A Scot conniption, if you will. And it's not a word here because the Enable geeks did not deem it acceptable.
