like, let's say people called "eu7"
you go to morewords, put eu----- and it shows you all the seven letter eu words
but now the searches with said hyphens are coming up empty
oh cool!
you can still get eu* but that gives you words of every length, which is less useful
(not that it's not working, but I didn't know that one)
I put in question marks instead of hyphens & it’s working for me that way

ty for that info Nef. I used a2z for the last puzzle and although it got me through, it was very painful navigating.
I always used the hyphens in the past; but on my iPad it couldn’t tell how many hyphens there were & it told me to do this; & it’s easier.for me to see how many letters I need.

I prefer a2z over morewords, actually. So much easier to see which possibilities there are for a certain wordlength
Wow, I really don't like the new Morewords format. The font is smaller and you have to use question marks instead of dashes to search a word. Whatever happened to "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"
It is smaller, but you can still use dashes... Find dictionary words for crossword puzzles and word games Use a hyphen (dash) to give the location of a missing letter: w-rd or -are Use an asterisk (star) for any number of unknown letters: lett* or *gry or ar*ct Exclude words containing the letters that follow a caret (hat): ma-e ^kt
Must be my browser. Dashes don't work anymore. I read that they didn't for others as well.
Dashes didn't work for me either when I tried it. Grrrr

That is so weird about morewords. Why would they take the alphabetical results feature out?
I used the contact form on MoreWords to see if it's a bug or a feature. I also see that some word lists are shown in order of more common to less common.
Well that makes things easier. All the Babble words will be at the end. : D
i just tried morewords, and it gave me the results alphabetically. it doesn't on my phone
while on the MoreWords page, you can do ctrl + F to help you find words

I just contacted MoreWords and asked about the update and whether or not we will get back the ability to use hyphens. I will post when I get a response. I do miss the old way...
i haven't checked out morewords yet.. i tend to use a2z
I have used morewords since I started playing. Until yesterday it was very easy to use.
i use it sometimes when a2z doesn't have the word listed
I always used a2z but recently have been using bestwordlist.
Have always used morewords......and my pain caused by the new style has now been assuaged by question marks :-)
I don't like the new format...weird
I quit using a2z when they started complaining about Ad Blocker

I use my own custom spreadsheet developed from an online dictionary. I am willing to share a link to it if anyone is interested. It is in Excel so you would need that application to use it.

I may redo it and include short definitions that can be searched. It is mostly useful for end-of-game look ups where I glean clues from the chog.

That is one hell of a spreadsheet
I constructed it using a program I wrote to scan the dictionary database, selecting only words with 4 to 12 letters and placing them in a text file. Then import to Excel and use an Excel formula to construct the clue format, e.g. no 7,40. The "qu" words were a little trickier - had to tweak the formula several times to get it right. I regret I did not include the definitions but I still have the source database and may redo it.
I got the idea from collection words from previous puzzles and storing them in a spreadsheet - mainly as a way of keeping track of "babblets." Then when that got too unwieldy I came up with the idea of building my own clue dictionary.

Is anyone else having trouble with morewords now that it has been fixed?
I do not use the Morewords site per se, but just type my request into my google browser and then always choose the Morewords site. e.g., I type in "7 letter words starting with f", and then choose Morewords. The only difference I have noticed in the last few days is that the words are displayed differently, not in a long single line. It seems to be working perfectly doing it that way.
I actually did not know that there was a morewords site.
i'm having no trouble with morewords, though the look has changed.
I think people who keep pages saved will have trouble until they get a whole new page on their computer.
I'm glad that Morewords got rid of those horrid adverts.
