Dogs are something else - our son just got out of jail after six months, now his dog won't leave the front door area when son's not in the house. Not even to eat or drink. Dog had previously more or less given up hope and was acting more normal finally, but not now.

2:30 am

guessing the dog's afraid he'll miss a chance to see our son.

2:42 am

aaahh bless - their loyalty and love is awesome

Dogs can act out of character when confronted with scenarios it is not used to. I remember one time when my sister went on holiday but could not take their dog. I went round many time a day and took it for walks and play with it also just sat with her. When my sister came home to the house the dog did not greet them just turned around and sat opposite way to them. Took a few days before flo was back to her normal self.

2:54 am

Hello zzoozz. I hope that's it.

2:55 am

I am convinced, Ruby. You will have your Rufie back to normal in no time!

2:55 am

((zzoozz))

2:56 am

I am only 14 words into this grid and already I am not liking it.

2:59 am

((Ruby)) You keep your chin up. You have done it before and I know you can do it again :-)

3:01 am

3:03 am

3:03 am

3:04 am

3:04 am

Thankfully I got the U and E the wrong way round!

3:07 am

Are your flowers still looking good, Ruby? Also are you goint to have a bumper crop of figs this year?

3:09 am

I can't walk into the garden, but the flowers are still splendid. The figs, however, are large and green but aren't ripening. This happened once before and they just fell off.

3:10 am

Shame about the figs although there is still plenty of time I suppose.

3:11 am

At the oment, there are 6 or 7 ifferent roses (maybe ore, but that's allI can see from Inside), spirea, arum, geraniums, lavender, perovskia, and more, all in my limited color range

3:12 am

I watched a little bit of Le Tour De France last night. Not had much time to be able to watch it this year. They are into the mountains today so I will try and set some time to watch some of it!

3:12 am

On a good year, they ripen in June and then again in Sept

3:12 am

Hope some of the scent wafts into your home, Ruby!

3:14 am

Also, second flowering of wisteria,

3:14 am

Good thing with flowers they keep on giving!

3:15 am

How is your little Robin bird, Ruby. Does it still visit?

3:16 am

And the fish are thriving. The evening husekeeper feeds thepm and they greet her. There are also water lilies and Japanese iris in the pond

3:17 am

The heron comes every day for his lunch, flies away with a large fish in his beak

3:18 am

Trust the heron to be a regular visitor lol Still it knows there is a regular supply of food.

3:21 am

The fresh seafood restaurant, "Chez Ruby"

3:21 am

LOL

3:22 am

I suppose the heron is keeping the pond from being over crowded with fish :-)

3:23 am

We started with 23 "feeders" and now there are hundreds, some over a foot long

3:24 am

Wow! that is big!

3:25 am

My parents used to keep Koi carp and they would grow very big too! And so friendly.

3:27 am

When I run out of money, I can eat the fish

8:17 am

haven't figured out the other ca8 tht peri mentioned yet

8:17 am

8:18 am

yes pls?

8:18 am

without worries - a compound word

8:19 am

ohh ty chris

8:26 am

Another day in hell. Temperatures expected to be 105.

8:27 am

molly yes here too with the heat index that is how hot it should feel here today

8:27 am

we're having a mild summer here for once

8:27 am

on the cooler coast

8:28 am

are you closer to the water ruru?

8:28 am

I live in fear of power failure when it gets this hot. I can deal with power failure in the cold, but not the heat.

8:29 am

agreed I also worry about grass getting flames on it if too dry

8:30 am

Power failure when it's cold stinks. Last winter it was in the single numbers and we hovered around the fireplace

8:31 am

a fi4 that is

8:31 am

yes mlf

8:31 am

bichon yikes. how long was the power out at that time?

8:32 am

a day and a half. We have down comforters

8:32 am

and, we used a camp stove

8:32 am

Yes, but I feel like you can get warm easier than you can get cool. Especially when it is 100 degrees.

8:32 am

those have their advantages:)

8:33 am

i feel like you can bundle up but making yourself cooler is a different story

8:33 am

bichon that takes coal right?

8:34 am

If the power had not come on in the next day, we would have had to call a plumber to drain the pipes

8:34 am

there are lots of fun ways to get warm

8:34 am

coal, no wood

8:34 am

that would not have been good

8:34 am

carne

8:34 am

sorry

8:34 am

yes that's good you had coal and didn't have to go outside to get wood

8:36 am

no coal, just wood

8:36 am

ohh sorry

8:37 am

coal stoves not usual here

8:37 am

if my husband and i move i want a real working fireplace and an alternate heating source

wow, I dislike this grid more than yesterday's. hello y'all.

I just have to post that and then I find a bunch of words

8:55 am

Takes grid to therapy group

anyone remember the Happy Days where Potsie had a crush on Joanie?

the name he called himself on his anonymous notes is in the grid. it was another word spelled backwards and every time I see it in the grid I think of that episode and then look for the reverse.

yes, I was a latchkey kid ;-P

9:11 am

hokie i liked this grid at first, but i still have 62 left and its been slow

9:12 am

I remember Joanie had a crush on Potsie and dreamed of marrying him. I don't remember it the other way around. But then, I didn't watch that much Happy Days.

oh, maybe that was it and she called him the name

I think you are right, I will have to do some searching

9:13 am

i remember that as well joanie had a thing for him

9:13 am

She signed her notes dren because everyone called Potsie a ne4

9:13 am

ty molly

9:14 am

that finally got me a 7 letter word

yes, you are correct!

9:17 am

i gtg go will be back...

I did find the episode but could not find Dren anywhere, but that is the word I was talking about. Funny how I remembered it the other way around, but that was a lot of years ago.

omg, just found a 9 on my own

9:32 am

Which one? I have the ne9.

that one

9:32 am

Well that doesn't help! ;)

9:33 am

ru9 is the other

9:34 am

I was toodling around something with that R. Will keep at it...thanks!

yeah, I can't find that one

9:40 am

I am blind. Care to clue, Dan?

9:40 am

ru9 is an alcoholic drink

hmm, so I've got the first 3 letters

ooh

9:41 am

Or a pirate? Thanks!

would never realize that was one unhyphenated word

9:41 am

at least around the Lake Tahoe area

9:43 am

Just early voted for mayor.....and we've switched to paper ballots....woohoo!

we always have paper for early voting and then machines on election day

9:44 am

New for us!

at least I think so. haven't waited for election day in years.

9:45 am

I always early vote!

and it's always the same guy - who looks like Santa - who watches you stick the ballot into the scanner

true story - I got a little motion sick last year voting. they use these round flimsy tables divided in fourths by a cardboard "wall". someone on the other side of me was filling in the dots so hard it was shaking the table. not fun. I may have to ask for a special table next year. lol.

9:48 am

Hee hee

ok, I had to check the def of tu7 because apparently I am an 8th grade boy and it made me giggle.

19 to go. Off to make breakfast. I guess it's actually brunch at this point. TTFN!

9:51 am

good morning all -- ty for the ru 9 -- didn't even consider it, thinking it was 2 words

9:58 am

I wonder if enable thinks lawn mower is one word? or back slapper?

10:01 am

is the 4th letter a high point tile for the ru9?

10:02 am

Yes to both, Nan. Type them in and it will say they're not in the puzzle.

10:02 am

no - the ru 7 is another word for a pirate or a person who smuggles a specific beverage

10:03 am

Sam :)

10:04 am

guess I'll head for the list - can't remember what I typed in last night

10:06 am

no idea

10:07 am

pirate drink + one who jogs

10:07 am

ty bzz

10:07 am

I saw the ru6 being another name for a pirate when I googled it

10:08 am

ri7 anybody?

10:08 am

dan edge and flame

10:08 am

10:20 am

10:25 am

I must not use enough eye drops. I only know visine

10:26 am

monkeyed it though thank you

10:26 am

only one I could think of was visine, then I remember clear eyes which doesn't help either

10:26 am

10:28 am

don't have the er 5 though

10:29 am

I will give a hint if you like

10:30 am

10:30 am

ah - ru's fav word

10:31 am

11:12 am

11:15 am

sorry, don't get it

11:17 am

ends like wriggley's product you chew

11:18 am

ty nan

11:24 am

The last ne6 is ne and a jumble for what you do on a bike or horse. We have this word a lot. It is a clamworm

11:26 am

if you are clueing more studious -- that is a 7

11:27 am

Thanks for that 7!

11:27 am

oh - the babblet - got it, ty molly

11:29 am

di6/21.......clue please

11:30 am

what you eat every night

11:30 am

11:34 am

er 7/36, pls

11:35 am

someone commented that the tu 7 was something an 8 yr old boy would find humerous -- more like tu 4 isn't a word, so I don't know what else it could be

11:36 am

before + beginning of an eyedrop brand

11:37 am

Got it, ty nan

11:37 am

i saw the clue earlier and finally remembered the brand.

11:37 am

tu7 ends like bristling fish in a can. Didn't get the 8 year old boy comment

11:38 am

ty nan

11:39 am

The 8 year old boy did get me thinking of the 1st 4 letters, they like jokes about that.

11:39 am

I don't get the ending though

11:39 am

But, I mean I do get it, but not from the clue :)

11:39 am

The heat is frying my brain.

11:39 am

Like the ending of the cracker that starts salt

11:40 am

tried ending it with a can, but that didn't work

11:40 am

Yes, I got the fish reference.

11:40 am

nan, think of fish you buy in a can

11:40 am

only fish I can think of that begins with tu is turbot

11:40 am

and tuna

11:40 am

No, the ending is only related to the fish

11:42 am

does it begin with an animal's calling card?

11:42 am

Yes

11:43 am

ty - found it -- still don't see what the can has to do with it though

11:44 am

This fish comes in tiny tins.

11:44 am

the lst 5 letters of it anyway

11:44 am

last

11:44 am

sardine nan

11:45 am

I was trying not to give it away...

11:45 am

ty sukee

11:45 am

tosses some sardine cans in Nan's cave

11:45 am

no thanks -- don't want the fish either

11:46 am

holy mackerel

11:46 am

I'm still not half way

11:47 am

fe 6 following the one who uses the epee, please?

11:48 am

fish for eating should be bigger than the palm of my hand and not oily

11:48 am

fe 6 like the anise flavored vegetable with a different ending letter

11:49 am

Ah, ty ruru

11:49 am

i like white fish.. i hope that doesn't make me a fish racist

11:50 am

I am the same ruru, I only like sole, cod, haddock. Although, I don't mind rainbow trout.

11:50 am

Salmon, my favorite

11:51 am

And I'm all for the halibut too. Oh, and Salmon :)

11:51 am

i cannot eat salmon.. too fishy for me

11:51 am

I like fish, I don't like seafood

11:51 am

I like steelhead trout much better than salmon -- not as oily and fishy tasting

11:52 am

I don't scallops, octopus, squid, too chewy

11:53 am

i like all three of those

11:54 am

One fish I will never eat is talapia.

11:54 am

scallops, yes, also shrimp and lobster --- and more lobster

11:54 am

oh and crab

11:55 am

don't eat talapia only because I have seen the river where it is farmed!

11:55 am

My ancestors on both sides were fishers, but I don't like lobster, shrimp, clams, you name it.

11:55 am

mu please? -- don't have any of them

11:56 am

I don't have any yet

11:56 am

Ha, just found a mu 6/24...the name of a brand of eye drops, the full name :)

11:57 am

ty sukee - didn't think to try that

11:58 am

ta 7/32, I tried tacrine, but it wasn't accepted

11:59 am

mu + delete is one of the 5's

11:59 am

anyone have the first mu 5?

11:59 am

ta 7 = more late

12:00 pm

ty nan

12:03 pm

1 mu and 5 x re left -- not seeing anything - back later

12:06 pm

got the ru 9 on the first time

12:10 pm

The ending of a cracker that starts with salt didn't work? No saltines in Canada?

12:10 pm

have a MU5/16 that rhymes with AR4

12:11 pm

didn't see that clue, molly -- we don't call them saltines though, call them soda crackers

12:11 pm

have that one, ty mtl

12:12 pm

ok...will look some more...

12:13 pm

got it -- dirt mixed with water + sun god

12:13 pm

ahh got another MU5 - wet earth + egyptian sun god

12:14 pm

^5 mtl

12:14 pm

hagd everyone :)

12:14 pm

salut nan

12:23 pm

They are soda crackers Nan. I guess the brand name Saltine doesn't sell in Canada. They are pretty famous here. Sorry for the bum clue.

12:32 pm

saltine sounds kind-a ritz-y

12:37 pm

here, they're called premium plus crackers (with or without salted tops) - the packaging, compared to saltines, is nearly identical

12:42 pm

i think our boxes say premium too.. but they say saltines

12:43 pm

not to cause a pandasodium around here or anything

12:46 pm

hunting for the fe6/30 that is after the sword fighter

12:47 pm

never mind, peri'ed it

1:32 pm

and as an aside, i described those crackers to my husband, who unlike me, grew up in canada (ontario) and has lived in alberta for over 30 years. he said, 'saltines?' so maybe it's a regional thing.

1:34 pm

we always called them soda crackers

1:38 pm

*Note to self: Don't use a Saltines reference in clues anymore

2:24 pm

In NYC we always called them saltines

2:33 pm

ri 7/44, pls

that was a rhetorical question. )
