7:43 am

7:43 am

Craziest grid I've ever seen

I know!

7:44 am

Wasn't hard to get nbt/nbs...

7:45 am

I wonder if the Babble Gods know that most people are busy with holiday hoo-hah.

7:45 am

I thought the same thing, Molly.

7:45 am

i'm in for hoo-hah

7:45 am

Too much to do...

7:47 am

or was that oooh aaah

I knocked a wax melt off yesterday and hot wax went all over the wall. So I will be trying to get that off today. The hub told me to sand it and repaint, but I saw online you can use a hair dryer and towels, so I'm going to try that.

7:47 am

I spent 30 minutes trying to sort out which Amazon packages have been delivered and which are still in transit...

7:47 am

i always get confused

7:47 am

what's a wax melt?

it's an electric thing with like a night light bulb and you put these scented blocks of wax in it. so like a candle without the flame.

7:48 am

Have you scraped any off, carla? I'd start with that first.

scraped off the baseboard pretty easily but the wall not so much

7:49 am

Was the wax tinted?

it was butterscotch scent and pretty much butterscotch color

my wall is lilac/lavender-ish. it is my sewing room.

first 2 rows finished here!

7:51 am

It might stain the wall. I'm with your husband. If you've got the extra paint, sand and paint...

7:52 am

lavender and butterscotch sounds like a great ice cream flavor

it said after you melt it off you can rub a used dryer sheet on it to get any residue. I probably will end up having to paint though.

I love me some butterscotch, but lavender, I don't know

7:53 am

I make a lavender / ginger homemade ice cream that is killer

interesting. I like ginger in small quantities. don't like it overpowering stuff.

10 left I quit - good day all

you're so close! but enjoy the day.

7:55 am

Nothing like talking to a one year old on FaceTime while they are holding the phone...

7:56 am

Are there any rh's?

7:56 am

71..really?

7:58 am

I am not busy doing anything lol

7:58 am

oh well I am out of here poof

Bea, it's probably like talking to my dad on FaceTime

7:58 am

The words "not busy" are rarely in my repertoire.

7:59 am

I dream of "not busy". : D

7:59 am

I get a little motion sick when I talk to her.

7:59 am

I hope your dad can hold the phone a little steadier, carla

7:59 am

I'm know, Molly.

I have plenty of things to keep me busy but nothing with a deadline, so I guess I'm not busy.

8:00 am

Two people in my company are retiring at the end of the year and I love hearing them talk about not working anymore.

my dad has Parkinsons so he really can't, but the issue with FaceTime is that he doesn't understand it is a video and holds it up to his ear.

8:01 am

oh haha

8:01 am

(about the ear, not the Parkinson's)

8:01 am

since retiring I think I am busier than ever but mostly choosing to do what i want to do

8:01 am

One time, she put the phone in a bucket and ran around with it for five minutes. I saw lots of celing fans...

I knew what you meant, dan ;-)

and bea, that sounds horrible

8:02 am

That's me too, wv.

8:02 am

I'm just unsure I'm really ready to let go of having a paycheck

8:03 am

And that sense of being needed and appreciated by my colleagues...

8:03 am

But it sounds nice to get up in the morning and not have anything compulsory

8:03 am

That is the thing about retirement. You are finally on your OWN time line.

true, I def don't get that from my kids or husband, natasha!

8:04 am

lol carla

8:04 am

Yes, there is that no pay check thing.

8:04 am

If I had a pension I might feel different, but

8:04 am

But you could volunteer and help others, Natasha. They appreciate it.

8:05 am

I know Bea, I already do that.

8:05 am

I work PT and use my free time to tutor immigrant kids at the nearby elem school.

8:06 am

That's wonderful! Good for you!

some do. my husband used to deliver meals at holidays when he worked at the bank and he always said they were very unappreciative and were like, give me my stuff.

8:06 am

Ouch

8:06 am

Yes, there are those, carla.

8:07 am

Wasn't looking for a pat on the back. Really feel strongly that it's not altruism to try to close the gaps. It's self-interest actually !

8:07 am

i've been contemplating retirement.. but am not quite ready yet

8:08 am

I understand that sentiment.

8:08 am

Anyway, this was waay too short for a weekend puzzle. Need shorter ones during the week and nice long ones on weekends!

I still haven't found a 7

8:09 am

Don't do it, ruru. My husband and I are busier now that we've retired. Everyone takes it for granted that you "have all the time in the world" and favors are asked of you a lot. Don't get me wrong, I love helping people, but sometimes I need to learn the word "no".

8:09 am

morning all!

8:09 am

although i am looking forward to planning how to go to PT in the future

8:09 am

hi saan

8:09 am

Hah, I kept trying to find a nonexistent second Z word! There's only one!

19 to go. off to Lickety. Anyone here? helooo?

The one before the group of cows

5:21 pm

Fellow Babblers. Are there any other websites that are similar to Babble but have up to date words like nano and tech which Babble does not include. I find it perplexing to understand the value of knowing archaic Scottish words but not real vocabulary from our real life experience. Any ideas.? Thans

5:25 pm

I'm not sure you should be looking for value in this game, akazev :-)

5:26 pm

it is definitely frustrating that the "enable" dictionary which has been the basis for this game since it began has not been updated, but of course updating it would come with other frustrations for long-time players

5:27 pm

The word list this game is linked to has not been updated in almost 20 years. And I respectfully disagree that updating it would cause problems.

6:51 pm

tax, French for boring, being bored

6:51 pm

meant to address jax not tax

I agree it wouldn't cause issues. I think it would add to the game and make things a lot less frustrating

nees

oops

8:41 pm

we all--or most of us--get a lot of fun bitchin' about Enable. I agree with Dan. half the "value" of this game is in the chog.

8:42 pm

8:44 pm

I don't know you scrambler but like your wordy picture. I fel good when I recognize an ancient scottish word. Have learned Irish friom Hurshy. Like seeing Miss 2-bit. etc.

8:57 pm

Good evening babblers! How is everybody doing tonight?

8:58 pm

9:04 pm

I thought I had changed my icon before, but I didn't. I just changed my icon to reflect today's holiday,Letter Writing Day. Is there anybody here to help me with my last four?

9:04 pm

Congratulations toadandtoadette on your fireworks! YAY!

9:05 pm

Hi Min. I agree with what you said in your profile. It is sad that letter writing has become a thing of the past.

9:07 pm

Hello MollyL! How are you doing?I also believe that script will also become a thing of the past.I still write in script.

9:08 pm

H's Harangued! 3 left

9:09 pm

Hardly anyone hand writes anything. I was thinking of that as I addressed some Christmas cards.

9:11 pm

However, in my case, I should not longer write in script. I have TERRIBLE penmanship.! write like a 1st grade child.

9:11 pm

Letter writing was a way that history was accumulated. Will the history of the future be told by emails? Or even worse, texts?

9:13 pm

Hope history will continue 2 be told through textbooks in school.I believe many things require documentation still.

9:14 pm
