quiet in here! thanks for the ba8. :)
It is indeed.
Thanks, Lickety
That is fireworks for me.
Happy babbling everyone!
fireworks for me too!
Phantom: banana
And weirdly: alpaca
*Thinks Matty is one of those people who dreams of being an alpaca farmer* : D
Haa! Guilty as charged
Does the ba8 start with the round thing you use in sports?
Yes
And (what a surprise...not) it isn't an English word
Thanks
FW
May I have stats, please, for the upper right E and the O?
ed4/6 and ol4/4
Thank you - found both. Sorry, like Columbo, just one more thing...The E in the bottom row, please, stats?
Eo6
good morning help with bottom N in 4th column pls and any of the 7s
found the n
found sp7
That's my only 7
The other 7's are on the odd side
I don't know, some people might consider ta7 on the normal side, but it is not widely used. At least not in the circles I run in.
When did Babble start working yesterday? I never checked again after the morning.
Clue for pl7?
I am looking but I don't know the grid well yet.
pl + preposition + airpl***
My monkey found it. New word for me.
I used to read Wine Spectator at my dentist's office, it was full of ta7s. :-)
TY for the clue.
yw scrabs!
I have ta7, sp7 and pl7. What am I missing?
na7
So I need sp7 and na7.
Scrabbler - it started working midday. Dr. God had to generate new puzzles.
sp7 builds off a sp4
sp7 is a normal word. na7 is a nice shrub with red berries
Duh, TY, Jax.
Interesting, Chris.
Yes - I thought that there was a random generator that just ran a new puzzle each day. But there is a store of puzzles and it ran out.
wow, had no idea there was a Divine Intelligence behind this
Wow.
Google gave me Nandina but that is not in the grid. Am I close?
Yes, I have it.
LOL do you get sent to the PB for that?
I hope so.
Were you close?
:-)
Different last letter.
Yes. Yes you were ;)
she was indeed
Stat for the 8, please?
I'd say 85% of the word is PB worthy : D
ba8/50
well thanks, I just got here. nice to get a big word I've never seen before out of the way.
Nandina is an invasive shrub. Not well liked by naturalists.
Botanist Bea fills us in. : )
=)
So Bea, do you have any advice re extirpating the wild yam that is strangling everything in my garden and spreading like kudzu?
Just received my Mater Gardener certification. Need to use it.
Time to go. I am driving into the city for an appointment.
I'm in a perpetual war with this thing. Right now I'm picking up all the little potatoes it drops
bye scrabs
wild yam? never heard of such
Oh my ** bows to the Master **
I knew a Wild Yam once. She was a biker. : D
thx to whoever said wine for the ta7. I don't drink wine but somehow knew that.
I have done wine tastings. guess I read it there.
And only a person who plays Babble would say extirpate instead of root out
so the ba8 is not a weird spelling of bologna?
YW carla. Meanwhile I've poked about and discovered it's not the wild yam but rather the air potato, diascorea bulbifera. And boy is it ever bulbifera.
never heard of the air potato either!
¿a store that sells sausage?
nope, a movement in classical dance (ba4+et)
Clue for the 4th column e please
eo6.18

Hiyas, Kiddos. Happy Friday!
Happy Firday to you too, Judi.
Friday the 13th
My lucky day. My youngest was born on a December Friday the 13th. Not so lucky this year, I have what sounds like croup.
Boo, Molls. A drag to be sick - especially around the holidays.
Thanks to the one in my office who comes to work sick, a bunch of us have fallen
They're everywhere, Molly. Sometimes I feel like I need to wear a hazmat suit at my desk.
odd in this day and age spam isnt alowed- not the pork luncheon meat!!
did you allow yourself time to recroup molly?
Croup like in having to sit by the shower with cold water flowing
did the grid recently change?> I was playing a 146 board a while ago
Whaaaa?
no, still 146
this one says 292
mine says 292 words?
Sounds wrong, yesterdY'S WAS 260
Dueling grids?
Oh dear God, it did change.
If you open up another tab, you can play both at once. Although not many people have time for such things.
HA! Just did a refresh. .It did indeed.
There's a first.
Are these signs of Babble dementia?
292 is double 146.. i wrote to dr g.. this happened once before
Yeah, it's the same grid with different word totals.
I opened another tab ... the 292 grid is there again
are we going to have to put babble in a nursing home?
That is strange then as I had fireworks this morning. LOL
fw
not really mixi
you still have 146 to go :D
What 146 or 292 lol
Oh you beat me to it, Ru!
you have to get up earlier to beat me at a joke zooz
good morning everyone :)
Very true, Ru And I am normally up earlier than you too! lol
Hello, Nan :-)
good morning nan
fw @ 146. time to refresh, I reckon.
anyone have a wonderful idea for a quick fix appie I can take to bridge this afternoon?
Chex mix, Nan.
sure is more challenging to figure out which a to use since tiles that would be closed out arent'
think we need something more substantial than that, judi
I thought that said quick fix apple. I'm so not used to abbreviations.
Find a dip recipe that matches what you have on hand and pair it with chopped vegetables and/or fruit
Spicy Hot Crackers, nan... no, not substantial enough... deviled eggs, maybe?
good idea molly
and another one, amelu
I don't know how people fix food for a group with all of the dietary restrictions people have these days. It is hard to please everyone. Especially the gluten free.
i have a gluten free xmas dinner coming up :D
that's the problem molly there are 12 of us -- everyone is age 70 or older, so there are lots of dietary restrictions
I just make sure to list all ingredients on card next to dish. They can eat it if they so please or not.
Well, Babblers, it seems we have another situation. It seems we have DOUBLE puzzles today. So if you refresh the page, you might get a completely different puzzle. Unfortunately, I'm not quite sure what the solution is yet. I've got my thinking cap on though...
Cottage cheese and sliced bananas in an attractive holiday dish. : D
THANKS. .am very confused
yeah Dr. G we all thought we drank too much and were seeing double
I wonder if Lickety can create another list?
It's the same grid with double the word total.
1/2 pears w/salad dressing and shredded cheddar?
denia
Lickety is correct. There is no second 146.
and we can only enter them once, so I guess my fw were valid, lol.
denia
The rankings will probably go to hell. Fortunately, I gave up caring about them long ago.
Ok. Thankfully, it seems no words were entered on the weird extra puzzle. So we should be okay? If anyone notices anything weird though, drop me an email.
it is still 292 and it's only a 146 grid.. it's not ok
Eh, whoever is keeping scores these days can probably manually manipulate for accuracy if they're aware of the problem.
Anyone have clues for the first 5 Pa's? I'm stumped.
judi I have 4 pa words
You are correct, rururocks. It seems the available words were doubled up as well. It should be fixed now if you refresh.
Good job, thanks Dr. God.
thanks dr. g.. that's much better
whew

Yes, if you read over the chat, somehow the words total doubled. Dr. God fixed it.
Wow, I went away for a bit and missed all the grid-expanding excitement.

Ah, reminds me of Ruby's famous ca5
She keeps gelded roosters?
No, she used to cook one at holiday time and keep it outside in the cold because there was no room in the fridge. It was a running joke, years ago.
I have in 5/12 ending in d I need a clue for the other in 5 pls?
was in yesterday's grid!
well at least that's better than my late mum-in-law in Yorkshire who'd keep the turkey carcass out on the counter together with the deviled eggs from Xmas to New Year's Day and folk would pick at it as they passed. I was amazed no one died
not fitting
that's not much help hokie sorry lol

I skipped that one
thx bichon. that one has tripped me up before. because it's incredibly stupid. :D
thanks bichon; that's fw for me
well done
yvw
I agree that no6/21 is incredibly stupid
like lots of the words here
I'm kinda shocked the scottish "dinna" isn't a word here
not calling that stupid but enable loves the scottish words!
We plaay The Speeling Bee in he NYTimes. It doesn't take infart
*infarct
infart is funnier bichon
The problem with Enable is it only like "some" Scot words, and "some" French words. It is entirely inconsistent. Except when it come to the nerdy foreign currency words.
so true ru
takes lot of Spanish and Hebrew words
But not all Spanish and Hebrew words. Unless you have a photographic memory (as some at the flip seem to) you are doomed
LOL, Enable, like most people, doesn't like spam
because spam was only a proper noun the last time enable was updated
the most disgusting stuff in the world
wow, the first ba5/14 is a new one to me. had to see examples of it on dictionary.com and still did not recognize.
the hawaiians love it, ru
yeah but they wear grass and smoke it
I'm not sure why anyone would love meat byproducts that come in a can. Blech.
Well, if you grew up a Navy brat - you might have had to eat it a lot - I actually don't mind it. Noe - I live not far from the Spam museum, haven't been there yet, keep threatening to check it out. LOL
it just looks awful to me cad.. no way i could touch it
I grew up a Coast Guard brat and we never ate it.
My husband bought several cans for a week bike trip he did with friends. I think it's good for tent camping. I haven't had any since I was a kid but I remember liking it.
I also remember eating deviled ham sandwiches and liking it.
Mom got it at the Commissary, she'd slice it and fry it with eggs.
They make hundreds (I might be exaggerating here) of different kinds now.
I make my own ham salad and like it, but I would never eat that stuff from a can.
there are definitely more varieties
well, we didn't have a lot of $$ when I was a kid and I think that stuff was cheaper and better shelf life.
ok, my last word is a 5 and I know the first 3. can I get it? time will tell.
The first ba5/14 is an ordinary word for anyone who grew up Catholic. The ba5/14 of marriage were posted weekly in the church bulletin.
yeah, that's why I didn't know it
no such thing in Methodist church
Well, as some Irish say, it's no crime to be Protestant, just a terrible, terrible shame. : D
found the last one. no idea what it means so I guess I'll look that up.
well, I'm off to the grocery store in this weather. TTFN
We have nasty cold rain here. But I will take that over snow.
not me. and I decided to wait until 3-ish to go. we also have nasty cold rain. I would much rather it be snow.
it's cold here.. too
I never think of it being cold in California
finally up to 37 here, feels like 32. and nonstop pouring rain since before I got up.
I've been really cold in San Fran in the summer, but yeah, I know what you mean, molly. when I think of CA I think of constant sunshine and warmth.
I'm sitting in my recliner watching tv! That never happens...
