Hi MLFAN!
Good morning and happy Christmas to all!
ditto pippin
Fun holiday fact: The idea of Christmas trees was actually taken from the Celtic Druids of Northern Europe who decorated a tree at this time of year to celebrate the winter solstice. The Puritans of early America actually banned Christmas trees because they were considered pagan (due to their origin). Blessed Yule to all my fellow Pagans.
I am stalled

holiday greetings from wintry alberta! primo cooking day here!
cooking here too but starting later
i was up early, made the big breakfast. now, dough for sweet buns is rising, soon i'll make the batter for yorkshire puddings - hehe, i have it so planned out that something will go sideways
simpler menu for me .. but that sounds good.. love yorkshire pudding
never had yorkshire pudding. what is in it
hi all
the menu is simple - standing rib roast, baby red potatoes, brussels sprouts with shallots/minced mushrooms
it's like a popover, peri
ok
eggs and milk mostly peri with some drippings
i guess it is a popover, but savory, not sweet
hmm. drippings from what? a roast?
yes
yup
ok
but you could use bacon fat or vegetable oil, but it has to have a really high flashpoint
i have only made it once and it is yummy
peanut oil would probably work
brings back a good memory - ru, you can probably relate to this. years ago, i had a friend, a good friend. how could you tell? because i trusted her with my popover pans *lol*
(the same ones that i left in the city, so have to make the puddings in muffin tins)
I'm taking my ideas to the PB with me.
what are you cooking ruru?
prime rib roast, and pork roast and veggies, mashed potatoes, yams for the vegetarians, and three salads
and roasted apple/applesauce for the pork roast :D
Merry Christmas, all!
both dinners sound good
wow, you must be expecting a big crowd! ^5 on the prime rib roast

Our Christmas dinner is the same every year. Beef tenderloin, stuffed potato casserole, baby carrots and broccoli and yeast rolls. There is burnt orange spice cake, mince custard pie, berry pie and assorted holiday cookies for dessert.
I'll be right over, molly
*Placing order for a doggie bag from Molly's feast*
Since it is just me. I make a Cornish hen with roasted potatoes.
I need to go do some things, speaking of cooking meals. TTFN.

sukee.... all you folks are making me hungry in spite of two stuffin muffins and tree pickles

Nope, ar6 bit the dust in 2011, right around the time digital music was killing recording studios.
