hello! sun's out today.
good morning!
Here too, but blowing like crazy!
I think it is calm here but temp dropped to 48
Bea, we have the tornado you all were dealing with yesterday. As they would say in Ireland, it's blowing a hooly out there.
Good morning all
Crazy weather.
Hey, Sukee.
I hope we don't lose power today.
never mind, just took the dog out and it is still windy
I hope you don't lose power too!
Not too bad here, a little windy, snowy and cold
my high schooler is out of school today. not sure about the rest of the county but the road his school is on is closed on both sides of the school with flooding.
Yes, I think there are a lot of school up here too closed do to road flooding.
and I said that weird. the whole county is closed too but I'm not sure if there are other roads closed
molly, hopefully you are ready to take cover
Well, if you can call being at work taking cover, yeah.
Do they have a storm plan, Molly?
Ha, ha, ha...keep working no matter what.
sounds like a plan! ;)
Grab your computer and crawl under your desk.
I was this close (had the s typed in) to typing spam
I always try it :)
seems so natural as a word
I feel like I was hit by a tornado. I had my first shingles shot and a pneumonia shot yesterday. I ache all over.
My goodness it is really coming down hard now (just outside DC). Yikes! But at least it's rain. My kid's in college in Montreal and they're getting 12-18 inches of snow plus 60 km wind gusts.
I was about to ask if you made it to your appt, bea. as someone who's had shingles, I'm glad you got the shot.
Ooh you had both at the same time Bea? I've been procrastinating on getting the shingles shot as I had the previous one and I hear the new one is NOT fun
wow, Natasha. that sounds brutal.
I agree, I had shingles a couple of years ago. Awful, still get the nerve pain.
Okay, you both are persuading me I should go get the Shingrix... ugh
Get the shingles shot! Worth a day or two of aches as opposed to the shingles.
I've had shingles, and had the shot. Awful experience
I had that same shot combo in December, and yeah, it laid me out for a day or two. But I know someone suffering from post-herpetic neuralgia and she feels like she's in hell, so I'll take whatever discomfort the shot may give! The second shot was not as bad.
did you have the shot before or after, bichon?
most
get the vaccine!
doh, sorry
Yes, a nurse told me it wasn't a given that the shot would prevent it. But I would definitely get it. I will when I can afford it.
Had shingle first, but it was years later that I had the shot
I will get it when I'm old enough. I don't think I can get it now.
I think the odds of getting it again are low but I have heard of people having shingles several times.
Yes, Pastor J, my mom had no trouble with the second shingles shot.
my neighbor here has had it 2 or 3 times and she is just 40ish. I think she was 30s when she had both cases. she said she begged for the shot and they said she couldn't get it until 50.
I just fell into the two UK words.
Carla, it rained like crazy all the way down. My BP was a "little" high.
hmm, now looking for words with extra vowels
why isn't sp5/20 also sp7?? argh, Enable!!
I bet, Bea!
...also ta4/8 should have the archaic ta6 available...
how many sp5/20's do you have, mark? I have 2 and don't see a possible 7.
archaic past tense, as in He giveth and ta6 away
ah, yes it's odd how some words that is in and some it isn't
Any one find any dh or ph words?
The sp5/20 that rhymes with ta4th away is a past tense. The archaic ending is a present tense ending for third person. There was never a time in English when it was a valid word to combine them.
I would never find a dh word without a prompt of some kind.
no to the ph too
I did just find some foreign money though
gotta say, not my favorite grid today
ah, the Levitical priestly breastplate returneth! (ep5 and ep6)
what is the points total for the 5?

ES, Carla.
I think...
yes, that's it. a standard 4,4 babblet
ok, I don't have any es but have been looking. I do see es4 from the bible. :D
he who lost his portion
this is more prosaic... a plural of a letter of the alphabet
omg, can't believe I missed that.
I ALWAYS find that my last words are the bleedin' obvious ones
and that led to the o I couldn't find
ooh, thanks for that carla! Didn't know that word
I don't know it either, just remembered it was a babblet too

Weird...I have 8 POs but my tile says I only have 6.

I thought tuke was a word
ty monkey
I tried it too monkey
Its a hat, right?
tuque...
what really? I know the French is toque, I didn't know about tuque
I've seen it written tuke. Oh well.
well French Canadians say tuque....for a knitted hat....
had this discussion with nan a while back...
dictionary.com defines it as a heavy stocking cap worn in Canada....
OK thanks for that!
toque is defined as a type of brimless hat....like what chefs wear....
bbl
Some people call that knitted hat a toboggan
which I thought was a SLED not a had
*hat
toboggan is a type of sled....the national toboggan championships are held near where i live.....we had one when i was a kid....six feet long with the front curled up....all wood....
Yes I've been on that when I lived in England. Then I moved to US around 1969 and everyone was calling their hat a toboggan.
never heard of it as a hat....but then again, I grew up with Franco Americans, so we called our hats tuques...
ap 5/20 clue pls?
ends with high point letter
a + to look sneakily thru the blinds
ty both
YAY got all the 7s. Peri, if you're here, the last one is mu6/7.
Fireworks. With a thankful nod to Lickety.
YAY Judi
Google says southerners use toboggan referring to a hat and northerners use it referring to a sled.
BBL
i don't expect southerners do much toboganning....
Probably not : D
i remember my younger brother and his friends went toboganning down a slope with power lines on it....they flew up in the air and landed in a brook. Luckily, no serious injuries but that was the end of our toboggan...
When I was a kid I got stuck sitting in the front of a toboggan. I have a scar on my chin to prove it. : D
hah.....the kid sitting in the front with my brother got a mild concussion...
they were lucky they did not hit one of the power line structures...
epsom should be a eord :)
word even
It is the name of a town the salts are named for, a proper noun
i think it's considered a proper noun...
ah
Back for my last 20.
Still feeling puny.

There was a nice fellow named Ru, Who lived very close to a zoo, His postings were funny, And oftentimes puuny
And his pet was a sly cockatoo
and often pointed out by FOO

lickety's list suzee

thx
do you fill it in?
good morning everyone :)
hi nan....
no.. i just refer to it.. you can sign up for it to do your grids there. i like doing them on my own
not that i'm not grateful for lickety sometimes
k
just read the chat --- have to say that I have never heard of a toque being called a toboggan either
we did not grow up in the south.. ;o)
I'm finished. See you all tomorrow.
Suzee.....there is a way to add your current list to the lickety page....just scroll down....once you have done that, you can add new words in the one box at the top of the Lickety page....
yep -- a long sled curled up at one end with as many kids as possible piled on for the ride down the hill
yup...i think there were seven kids on our 6 ft. toboggan when my brother had his accident....
we used to put ski wax on the bottom to make them go faster :D
we did, too....
oh no -- a broken leg or arm?
no....he was ok....he was at the back, i think....the kid in front had a concussion....
ouch
the toboggan was a total loss.....i think my mother was happy about that....
most important not to run on ice or near a tree!
yes, they were lucky they did not hit the power line structures...they crashed in a shallow brook....
According to one article, these are all the names for a knit, wool hat: beanie, benny hat, bobbie hat, chook/chuke, jeep cap, monmouth cap, mossa, radar cap, sipple cap, stocking cap, toboggan, toque/tuque, watch cap, woolly hat
was the article on wikipedia?
haven't heard of most of those....
Not on Wikipedia
I guess it depends on what country you live in
'Round these parts, a hat is a hat : D
or even what part of the country....
well i am heading out to get some lunch....bbl to finish....bye all....
bye pen
