82 words.. huh... not much social isolation relief here today
May I have a nudge on that apparently weird to8, please?
ends in more of matty/ to 6
sorry to/5
Ah, thanks. Yep, strange word! How are you today?
As in more if the Eiffel
Oh, sorry, too late
not too bad you? We are isolated...
in more ways than one...no neighbours, cant get any groceries, hubby just went to Tesco long long queue to get in and then nothing that we needed
Arrgh!
what is the matter with people....been like this all week
Jeff (my OH) is allowed out today (we were self isolating because Jeff wasn't well from last Sunday) - he's now done his 7 days, I have to do 14 so have another week to go. So he's going to pop out to see if he can get a few bits and pieces - wish us luck!
oh I do wish you luck...you need to queue from 4a.m !
Well, he's going to go to the farm shop and to the local shops - slightly more expensive but (hopefully and reportedly) less manic
May I have stats, please, for the other 8?
I hope so. We are isolated because of age....but we have to go out for supplies, no one else to do it. Son is a paramedic and working all hours
its or....same ending as the to
Got it, thanks!

We played Monopoly yesterday - first time I've played in over 30 years, I think
Scrabble here...no idea where the games have gone too...used to have loads.
Trouble is his too easy to beat....
Hah! Despite my fairly good vocabulary, I am rubbish at anagrammes, so am not great at Scrabble
I used to work with a woman who had game night every Friday with friends. I hope this brings back that kind of socialization when we are done isolating.
I belong to the ISC.....on line..International Scrabble club..free to join
all abilities
would be great Mollie, I love games of all sorts
I'm down to 10
In my two trips to grocery stores yesterday, I encountered four or five people coughing and sneezing. So not everyone is playing by the rules. One of them was a store employee.
they should send him home...people not playing by the rules here either...congrgating at seaside resorts etc...really silly
The thing is, sometimes a cough is just a cough. Stupidly, I'm a smoker, so I do have a regular cough. But yeah, the optics aren't great, and one hopes people use tissues etc
thats true Matty, but they are still supposed to self isolate..
And it is pollen season, so it could be allergies. It's just unnerving at times like this. We had someone in our office sick this week and people were pissed off.
I would be too. Have you heard from Ruby Molly? I know she is very poorly
It's so difficult - and here's hoping people don't start getting violet with people with a cough and with people from the far east (just Friday, someone from our local pub, who was clearly at the local to drink it dry posted some deeply awful stuff about China)
you cant legislate for stupidity
And sometimes the legislators are stupid.
I've read about nasty behavior towards people of Asian descent.
lol yes Matty
And a lot of Chinese restaurants are afraid of losing their businesses.
They are all closed here
pups.clubs, restaurants, theatre...
Our restaurants are closed for eat in, but not for take out.
ah same here
That is going to put a huge dent in the restaurant business. Especially the ones who primarily serve eat in customers.
yes, I'm sure there will be some nasty knock on effects for business after this is all over
nice talking to you both, going to drink coffee with hubby now. Bye
bye! Stay safe and well!
Hi all. I am so grateful I have been getting my groceries delivered for years. I don't have to go out if I don't want to, and I haven't been out since last Wednesday. I have to do laundry soon. I live in an apartment so I will be making sure I sanitized between loads. Even now if I go put the garbage out I come in, wash my hands and then wipe down the door handles with Lysol.
That's awesome! Sounds like an easy transition for you to stay safe.
Yep, and I haven't been that social in the past few years. Mainly going to the gym which is closed for now.
Thank goodness for telephones and the internet :)
My brother owns a kickboxing studio, and he's still open. It's 9 Rounds, so a each person starts 3 minutes apart, and the rounds are separated by 6 feet anyway. Usually I'm in there with maybe one other person. Anyway, all that to say I still do that once or twice a week. Wearing my own boxing gloves, so don't touch anything anyway.
Sounds like a good way to vent stress. And these are stressed times. How is the real estate business doing?
Busy. I showed homes all day yesterday with a darling couple and their 4 month old baby. They touched nothing...I did it all carefully. We took 2 cars and they followed me. Worked like a charm, and we found "the one".
To be clear, they're being relocated from Europe for his job, and have to find a home before his start date. So it's not like they're moving just because. We're on a mission!
On a funny note...the first home we saw had a suit of armor upstairs...as a decoration. That's at least the 4th one I've seen in homes in 12 years of real estate. :)
Took a photo...how can I share it?
You could put it as your profile picture temporarily or share a link.
https://tinyurl.com/tup29n8
After I posted it, a FB friend told me her son had one in his room. He named him Sterling Silver. Ha!
Hah! that is cute :)
Looks like Santa in the suit.
I know! They shoved something in it. Usually they're empty. These people have a sense of humor.
I also saw a 3 legged cat. I see some weird stuff!
Cute Star Wars creature in the grid.
Yes! Off to get on with my day. Enjoy the grid, sukee!
Take care.
I'm amazed. I would have thought real estate was down to a crawl, what with people trying to stay away from each other.
Surprisingly, I read it is still doing well. Just making sure only one family views at a time. I imagine open houses oare off for a bit.
The economy is strange. So many people not generating income due to business closure, afraid of how they will pay bills and feed their families, and yet there are people out house shopping.
I'm a bit nervous my freelance gig will go away, but since I write copy for a website it might be okay. People will be doing more work online.
Well, 23 left to find. Take care.
Dear Dr. God - any chance for the next couple of weeks you can give us really super large grids? Regards,

The grids are randomly generated, so I don't think he can make them larger. I was wondering about two grids per day for a while. One every twelve hours.
be nice if the grids were six by six instead of five by five
wow, great ideas bonkler and MollyL :)
You can go back in the archives and work older grids.
@ molly how do you do that please?
The biggest grid was April 21, 2012 at 744 words. The word list is available at the top of the grid.
wow, thanks MollyL
be nice if the archived grids were re-playable
Molly - can you actually play older grids?
Foudn it http://www.playbabble.com/archives
There is a link to the archives right above the chat. And yes it woul be nice if we could replay from the archives.
You can replay them. You just have to keep your own word list in a word document
It is actually easier to keep your word list in an Excel document because you can add rows to alphabetize.
FW - quick and easy(er) today. Id like to register a formal complaint about the t8!
Still here, hoya?
Hey, scrabs. How are you holding up?
Rating high on the anxiety scale.
I'm sure.
I think about you and my other helath care worker friends all the time.
LOL Hoyamd
We assume that every kid, parent, and co-worker in the office is contagious. Actually, everyone everywhere.
Do you wear aface mask?
Yes, I assume the same thing. Grocery store and pharmacy. That's it and only when it is neccesary.
I do now, not initially. I want parents to take this pandemic seriously.
hello. time to go get the sunday paper.
I haven't walked outside yet for my paper as it is 18 degrees out there.
i think grocery is low risk if precautions are taken. i feel for the cashiers. but i do not want to use the touch screen self service.
wish the grid was larger, but i will do more spring cleaning today.
I see many posts on FB about people sewing face masks for health care workers and I've been thinking about making some. If they are made out of ctton, will they help?
I will hike in the park. Sunny and warmer today compared to yesterday.
Bea, many folks are sewing these but I don't know the optimal fabric and if layers are needed.
i will be staning in line for the paper. i will probably browse the store to avoid the checkout line. i'll wait for it to warm up some before hitting the walking trail
good day toall.
That's what I was wondering. I've seen many different posts and articles about them.
I wore latex gloves to the grocery store yesterday. And I was glad I did. The lines for cashier check out were long. No lines for self check out.
Do some research, Bea. If you have sewing skills you can greatly help your local MDs.
Bye Owl
My daughter is a nurse in Alzheimer/dementia facility. She asked me to make some for her.
anyone get the re7?
nevermind
I will, scrabs. I think it would be good for my 80 year old mom to make them too.
Lets remember our health care workers and emergency personnel folks. They are working long hours. Their world doesn't allow for "social isolation".
Good plan, Bea.
No, leona
good morning all! bottom row done
Hi Dan. Good work.
today I am grateful for drive-thru pharmacy and drive-thru starbucks :-)
Drive-throughs and curbside pickups are good.
Can I get help with the re6? and the Ke6?
re6/42 employ again?
got that one - i believe there is another?
wait, got it - just need the ke6 for nbc
What is nbc?
ke6 sounds like a kind of chocolate bar but start it with K and take out the H
Thanks, Molly.
no idea Bzz - that's what i've seen others write just before they get fireworks - so I just need that one last word for fireworks LOL
thank you so much MollyL - I just got fireworks - whoop - any clues needed before I sign off ??
nbt = no zeros next to the Tile Stats. nbs = No zeros next to the word stats
Although I have never gotten why it is nbs and not nbw.
I know those stats, I was just wondering what she meant when she said she needed the ke for nbc.
I'm just confused LOL
thank you Molly :)
I know you know Bea, I posted them for sugrraleona. : D
I have always wanted to say "I have BE" when I first start (Blank Everything) just to confuse people. : D
Or sbt...some blank tiles. : D
Good to know that there are on-line meetings for recovering addicts and alcoholics. Those people are always told not to isolate. These times must be difficult for them.
particularly as many states have enabled or relaxe regulations around alcohol delivery

has your winery closed it's doors? They are telling us here that wine is non-essential --- unbelievale!
we're selling to retailers.. alcohol here is essential.. we drink a lot here :D
... LCBO is still open ... but I'd bet the winery tour bus iness around Niagara has shut down
all the wineries are closed nan.. i'm not a winery owner though. i'm a distributor
our liquor stores are open and the wine shops in the grocery stores, but they are running out - found a case 2 days ago, though . Not all outlets carry the VQA wines
no wine tours here either
.... retail outlet of local craft brewer is still open but it's like the ancient days were you tell them what you want and they go back and get it ... .... restaurant is closed and no tours
all of our local restaurants are closed as well..
I think every retail outlet (and there aren't many) still open should be required to hand out disposable gloves to customers entering the stores and supplying bins to dispose of them at the exit.
After all the hoopla of getting people to use reusable grocery bags, they have now been banned.
They will not contain this thing until there is a nationwide shelter in place. Too many non-essential businesses (like mine) are staying open. Greedy business owners will have something to answer for, I'm afraid.
the uptick in death in NY State is alarming to me
just about everything but grocery and booze outlets have closed here. Dentists are providing emergency service only, no hair salons, no nail salons, no elective surgeries, etc.
I am not surprised by the uptick in New York. People in New York City live within inches of each other all the time.
true molly.. i'm glad i live kind of rurally ..
... upticks are always alarming ... but this thing has an incubation period of two weeks ... so wait a couple of weeks and then see if it starts to lessen ... ... ... in the meantime ... stay home as much as possible and "socially distance" as much as possible
i am trying to skip the grocery stores for a while they are just too insane here
re and wo 7 what am i missing?

I have pretty good luck shopping early in the morning. I'm learning to work around what they are out of. So far we have not had to do without too much.
ty cyber
ogt both ty
we have an early morning shopping hour for seniors and the disabled at grocery stores here
that is awesome cyber
our grocery store initiated this plan and got feedback from seniors that it would make a hectic hour and that they'd rather shop during off peak.
i appreciate the opportunity to get at least somethings i need while the store is stocked.. that has been helpful to me. by the afternoons everything is wiped out
i kind of just had a thought isn't that kind of a bad way of spreading the virus all those types of people could compromise each other?
i think they could have kept that hour either way, it wouldn't have hurt anything to keep it in place.
Clue for the to8 please
the advantage, evanonut, is that first thing in the morning all the stores have been freshly scrubbed down and shelves newly loaded.
marian do you have the to 5?
More like the Eiffel
cyber good point
oh i agree, but i just read their updates.
yes I have to5 x 3
the feedback was likely from cranky millenials evan :D
the o 5 above th 7 just extend it
not likely, millenials are in their 40's and hunkering down like gen x, i think you're referring to the 20-somethings
oh well -- we have enough food to survive for a month -- there may not be much variety and we would run out of fresh foods, but we have multi vitamins on hand.
the 20 somethings here are still having beach parties
si 6/30 clue pls?

hi judi

we may have to resort to curfews with military or police patrols if they won't listen
i'm doing well so far.. polished off two books already i have a box to go through
Judi , are you considered one of the essentials who will have to work no matter what?
hi judi
thank goodness for e-readers - our libraries are closed too
it's essential that judi plays babble at work?
All of our city workers are considered essential, unless and until the governor decrees otherwise.
It is ALWAYS essential that I play Babble at work. Duh.
we're packing the house and i've spent the better part of the day looking for the e-reader. no luck yet
but of course
evan moving?
packing the house?
oh yeah, doesn't this seem like a great time to move?
se 5 clue pls?
are you out of your mind lol?
Eva is moving into the bomb shelter.
se 5: anagram of an si 5 that means to burn
ha! right? i am out of my mind. but the job was accepted before this and the hubster is already in place. so that means i need to pack this joint up and get us ready to move.
oh never mind i have it
Champ said earlier that her real estate business is just fine. She showed houses all day yesterday. Seems weird to me.
oh yeah, we sold ours in 2 days with many offers.
Life goes on. Congrats on selling so quickly, Eva. My step-mum sold her house in one day also. Got asking price. Said she should have asked more for it!
!lucky you eva. not!
wow - that is surprising, molly. We ordered window shades just before everything was closed -- will probably be months before they arrive now.
What seems weird to me is that there are people unable to work, not generating income, worried about how they will make it financially, yet others are out buying houses.
we got asking as well.
the clothing manufacturers here have offered to produce maskes and haz-mat suits --- guess we will be wearing last years clothes next winter (better not gain any weight!)
I guess mortgage companies are up and running too. Otherwise, how will there be closings on all these houses being sold.
I think people must have had plans in motion before the pandemic struck. Too late to back out.
and moving companies. you know, since i cant unsell my house
judi i was thinking the same thing
do you have to move far evan?
I'm sure people had plans in motion previous to all this. I'm wondering if things will get put on hold as more states move to shelter in place.
maybe delayed occupancy though? I don't think I would want people coming in and handling my stuff right now.
ru moving about five hours from pa to wv
wow
not much i can do there cyber, i can pack my own boxes, but i cannot load them
Lovely country in WV.
it does look beautiful, we'll be right on the ohio river
It's a census year too. People better get busy and get counted on line.
eva be careful, they have reported cases there recently but had none for quite a while
i wonder if the census takes in people with multiple identities like we do here :D
yes, i'll be right next to the hospital and i'll do what i can to isolate. but we had been dwindling supplies in preparation of moving. so i am a higher risk person but there's certain rules i'll have no choice but to break.
*!*~*!* off to my e-reader before the daily corona update comes on tv -- so far only 27 cases in a very large rural BC area -- 3 of them in our town of 150,000 so far.
I would hope the gov would be encouraging all the people now stuck at home to complete the census on line. That old fashioned going door-to-door to do the count is not going to fly right now.
evan yikes
does the ohio river flood there?
I would hope that your government is working frantically to organize a mail-in election in November. Even if this infection declines during the summer, scientists and doctors are saying it is likely it will rear it's ugly head again in the fall.
ihae wy 5/22 which is a pl i need a clue for the other wy 5/22 pls?
it's a plural too mlf

Has anyone seen uusue2 recently?
oh good evan.. unless you live for 500 years i guess :D
Yeah, stock up on sand bags, Eva.
not quite how that works but i'm not much worried. don't plan to stay there too too long

Molly, I had an email from Ruby two days ago....said to tell all Babblers that she is still alive but will die soon and to thank Rose and others who sent mesages. I have been unwell and have not answered her but will try to tonight. She has been in bed for two weeks and has a nurse every day....for everyone who prays....let's keep dooing it. If and when I hear more, I will post...thanks
So sad, I hope her son is with her.
She didn't mention it, if he is. I know she has a sister in NY who calls her every sunday. I wish I had her phone number. Ruby called me a while back and I didn't have sense enough to get her number then.
I will try to come back later.
