Hi Rose - how's that for timing. I've been chatting to a friend and just came back to babble - hope all's well with you and yours.

12:58 am

yes thanx lizgirl timing impeccable as always. hope all is well with you and yours. as soon as we are allowed to travel we are coming back up.

12:59 am

All's good here. Looking forward to being allowed to walk on the beach again next week. Still staying well away from everyone.

1:01 am

i don't care if our restrictions are lifted. i am going to continue in isolation for another two weeks. if no second outbreak, THEN i will allow myself some freedom.

1:02 am

The beaches shouldn't be crowded during the week - if they are, we'll stay away. Wouldn't go near them at the weekend. But it's pretty easy to avoid people when walking on the beach - there's enough space!

1:03 am

I don't think border restrictions will or should be lifted for a long time. I'm pretty p**d off - should've been flying to the UK on Thursday for my nephew's wedding.

I could use some advice. Last year friends of my son asked if they could have their wedding at our place. No more than 100 people on the guest list. Well as you all know, things have changed in our world and I am afraid of having that size a gathering. I hoped they would say they'd make other plans but I haven't heard a word. How do I handle this June wedding?

7:02 am

I'd take advice from wedding professionals / event organisers, there must be some webinars or guidelines or something. Or just say no, in a polite and loving way

7:02 am

Maybe things will open up by June? I would definitely talk to them now and share your concerns. Let them know ou are having second thoughts. But they need to know NOW.

7:04 am

I don't want to be that person who takes back her word. There is no money exchanged just gardening. They cleaned out my huge overgrown garden in exchange for the use of our property

7:05 am

Do I offer to pay them for their labors?

7:05 am

the world is different now .... that would be a lovely thing to do

7:06 am

Today is my personal deadline. It's really weighing on me.

7:07 am

I don't know how to even start the conversation.

7:07 am

they will be worrying about it too

7:08 am

I feel terrible.

7:08 am

My children are all like no way.

7:08 am

don't, its not your fault coronavirus came along and changed everyone's priorities

7:08 am

Gramma, take it out of your hands contact them and say, Hi regrads wedding etc, one can presume there will be still restricions in place have you considered alternate arrangemtns?

7:10 am

I am not in a position to offer an alternative. They will be travelling from Canada so maybe it's a moot point.

7:12 am

if you're in a vulnerable category, you just have to say it can't happen and given border restrctions you wouldn't want them to organise an amazing wedding and not be able to travel. but that you'd happily help as you can with flowers? whatever?

7:15 am

The wedding invitations were sent out and the tent and caterers are booked. I guess I just have to pull up my big girl panties and call them.

7:20 am

gramma, I am very surprised that they haven't been in touch with you....with regards to cancelling the whole wedding...nobody is getting married right now.....weddings that were booked for this are all being postponed until at least Sept/Oct even November....I am just very surprised that they haven't contacted you before now....the onus is not on you gramma

7:20 am

I'd be amazed if they weren't waiting for the call

7:20 am

I agree with your children. This is not your fault and I'm surprised these people have not contacted you. You should contact them as soon as possible to let them know...

7:21 am

'morning, all

7:21 am

gramma, don't forget that our borders are closed to each other, except for essential travel

7:21 am

Morning welki...

7:21 am

Well today is the day. Oh how I wish I wasn't a grown up.

7:22 am

When did they send out the invitations?

7:22 am

it's likely that the closures will be extended past the end of may

7:22 am

The wedding is June

7:23 am

of course they will welki....its just wishful thinking, if anyone thinks otherwise!!

7:23 am

General rule of thumb is to send invitation six to eight weeks before a wedding. That would have been smack in the middle of all this virus stuff. I can't believe they sent them out.

7:24 am

Thanks everybody. I will get it over with and let you know how it turns out. bbl

7:24 am

Methinks they live in a bit of a bubble

7:24 am

Good luck!

7:25 am

I think it was WAY overly optimistic of them to send out wedding invitations for a June wedding with all that has gone on.

7:25 am

Exactly!

7:28 am

Even if their host said yes, and they went ahead, I bet a lot of invited guests would decline.

7:29 am

Gramma - I looked at the Vermont Health Department website. It states that travelers to Vermont should quarantine for at least 14 days after arrival. I think that settles the question.

7:29 am

Of course they would...

7:30 am

...and the 14 day quarantine is world-wide

7:31 am

My sympathy lies with gramma...she must be in knots...

7:35 am

If she was generous enough to offer her place as a wedding venue, that couple should have been in touch with her long before now.

7:43 am

so - the gathering is too big, it is 'non-essential' travel, folks coming into vermont will have to quarantine for 14 days, lodging and eat-in restaurants will be difficult to find for guests. even if vermont 'opens,' it's own website says the rules are here to stay until there's a vaccine.

just finished, any clues needed?

7:50 am

Congrats, luv. Thanks, I'll keep plugging along...

ty Bea :-)

7:51 am

If people have to stay at home until there is a vaccine, we are in a lot of trouble. People are already a month without income and a vaccine for this thing is months if not a year off.

7:54 am

The quote was in reference to physical distancing

7:56 am

vermont's chief medical officer said, "Physical distancing from others “is here to stay,” he said, until an anti-viral treatment or a vaccine is developed." https://tinyurl.com/uunva\nzg

7:57 am

now, that's strange - a broken tiny url link https://tinyurl.com/uunvazg

7:58 am

That still has huge ramifications. For the entertainment industry, the salon industry, the travel industry. And probably dozens of others I am not thinking of at the moment.

7:59 am

Hi all, I don't chat often but I play whenever I have the chance. Just wanted to say to Gramma about the wedding - It's completely reasonable under the circumstances to cancel. You could offer your location again when the social distance restrictions are lifted and it's safe to have a gathering again.

8:00 am

Molly it's a financial disaster world-wide....so many businesses will just never appear again....

8:01 am

tarted

8:02 am

Flask, has there been any reaction yet to the minister's comments about this thing now showing signs of affecting the health of some noticeable number of young children

8:04 am

dose...other than surprise and fear, not really...yet!

8:05 am

... just wondering ... thanks

8:06 am

At the very beginning the "proffessionals" insisted that those of 70yrs should be the most worried.....utter claptrap.....as we now know

8:10 am

... when this thing first started out I noticed a report that it appeared that 20-25% of those who were recovering (I believe in Wuhan or China as a whole) were left afflicted with permanent lung and/or pulmonary damage. This situation wounds like you're finding small kids showing signs of such damage even though they appear to have been asymptomatic.

8:11 am

... never heard anymore ... the report had just seemed to have vanished as the spread took hold

I don't know exactly what Gramma's situation vis a vis said wedding but here people are doing weddings with 20 people and all other "guests" are sent Zoom links or some other on line only link. People just have to soldier on. I am in Israel and religious, couples don't have physical contact until married so postponing the wedding isn't a viable option. So 20 guests it is.Next week they are already lifting some restrictions.

We only had 40 new cases this week. Social distancing DOES work.

8:21 am

.I find the whole thing very scary....

8:23 am

... I don't disagree

8:25 am

Like millions of others I am severely disabled and as a result I am left with ventillation problems....hence the reason I am scared

8:27 am

... from here I can only wish you luck and command you to stay well ...

8:29 am

hello all

8:29 am

found a 8/9 combo!

8:30 am

Thanks dose...my son is my main carer, so with that being the case, anyone trying to get into our house would have a better chance getting into Fort Knox!...lol

Thanks, Bea.

8:47 am

the boston harbor islands are GORGEOUS and many are run as state parks now. It's super frustrating for those of us on the south shore, however, as the ferry service STINKS - you have to drive into boston and get the ferry to an island I can see from Hingham Harbor - it makes NO sense.

8:47 am

we went to spectacle island this past summer

8:48 am

OHHHHHHH that is my FAVORITE Harry!

8:48 am

it was crazy hot

8:48 am

Near Boston myself!

8:48 am

I hadn't realized that it was mostly fill from the big dig

8:48 am

all the cool kids are, jzw! lol

8:49 am

Lovely swimming beach, harry, and cant' beat the view!

8:49 am

Have you walked around Deer Island? No boat needed!

8:50 am

I take my students to deer island every year to tour the sewage treatment plant!

8:50 am

I've been wanting to do that!

8:50 am

yup! And Castle, Lovell's, George's a billion times, Plum, and I swam to the one with the church on it once....

8:51 am

Peddocks?

8:51 am

i have found 9 m words at the moment

8:52 am

this ranger took us on a walk on spectacle, and I was touching all the vegetation, and then she mentioned about one weed which was an irritant and shouldn't be touched, and my hand had a really bad rash for the next few months :)

8:52 am

i want a boat now....

8:52 am

oh no! do you remember what it was?

8:52 am

I don't :)

8:53 am

so I will probably do the same thing again next time :)

8:53 am

lolol. I always leave with contraband sea glass.

8:53 am

my husband said for the longest time he wanted a boat but the past few years he has said no he doesn't.

8:53 am

ooh you're a scofflaw

8:53 am

burning nettle?

8:54 am

i can live without one ty:)

8:54 am

8:54 am

I dont' think so suzzee

8:54 am

oh mool that will be 0 in about 10min or so

8:54 am

8:54 am

I think it looked less dangerous

8:54 am

heh

8:54 am

probably not 0 :)

8:55 am

I was surprised it was harmful

8:55 am

ok gotta go to class. 46 to go.

8:55 am

8:57 am

I haven't seen her on fb either.

8:58 am

haven't seen her for a while

8:58 am

Nasty nettle in MA and New England. My nephew used to do maintenance for a 9-hole golf course. Literally ran into nettle all the time. Painful blisters. Not much you can do for it. Oatmeal bath, calamine lotion.

9:02 am

24 left. Time for a break.

9:02 am

congrats judi

9:05 am

9:11 am

Do you want the 4th 8, mool?

9:12 am

that gives me the last 8 thx hoke

glad I could help :D

9:12 am

heh

9:13 am

Carla, I started my fabric slashing project yesterday. I'm really excited about it.

I did do some googling. It's pretty but I don't know what I'd do with it. What are you making with yours? wall hanging?

9:14 am

I'm going to make a pillow cover to match the quilt I'm making.

ooh, found an 8/9

cool. can't wait to see pics.

9:15 am

I'm going to look at making a bag with it too.

9:15 am

If you found the at8/9 there is another 8

yeah, I have 2 8s and 1 9 left. are they regular words or will I need help?

9:18 am

Did you get two at8s?

no, will look there

9:18 am

That is what I was asking. =)

9:18 am

one of the 8s is not a common word, though it appears in babble, especially the stem

9:19 am

or you could be missing the two at8s :)

I have one at8. I thought bea was just saying there was another 8, not another at8.

9:19 am

there's two at 8s

omg, just noticed 29 g's

I've got bigger fish to fry now

9:20 am

3 more g's left for me...not that bad for the most part

9:20 am

this board is not too bad

9:21 am

I thought it was a nice board.

9:21 am

nice is a good descriptor

9:26 am

10 to go

59 left - working 4th row now

9:26 am

go mool go

9:27 am

7 now, mound a pair :)

9:27 am

mound=found

found the other at8 :D

9:29 am

yay!

9:29 am

insteger, a number that is immediately available when you need it?

9:30 am

I have two at8 and a me8 what am I missing?

well, 47 left after first pass. at least I got halfway on each tile. miles to go before I sleep.

9:30 am

te8

9:30 am

the odder one

I did want to make integer several times

9:31 am

is it a compound word?

9:31 am

insteed - a replacement horse

9:31 am

no

that horse looks tired, I'll take this one insteed

insteed you will

9:32 am

clue pls/

9:32 am

?

9:32 am

the stem is pretty common in babble, and is actually a palindrome when paired with another word in the grid

was talking to moo, not you

9:32 am

starts with the number after nine

9:33 am

Start with the te5 mlf.

bea, do you want to guess which n I'm missing from top?

hmm, I do not have a te5. looking now.

9:34 am

Probably an A. =)

9:35 am

hahahah I just typed it in and it worked!

9:35 am

ty'

i have te 8 and two at 8s. stats for the fourth, pls?

9:35 am

me8.50

9:35 am

me8

9:35 am

hi owl me8

me8

ok, found the te5

thank you

I have the at9 - any clues for the second 9 please

9:36 am

also known as me, me, me!

meaner

9:36 am

At least it is unanimous.

9:36 am

it seldom is :)

9:37 am

Second 9 is no9.72, Marian

got it

that must be my missing n

9:37 am

that is so not a word

missing one 9, but this grid doesn't look too bad

9:38 am

5 to go

Will look -thanks Bea

9:38 am

tx bzz

9:38 am

figured it was one of those types of words

i am sure it's a non word :D

9:39 am

literally and figuratively

and found it.

yes.

9:39 am

4 to go...and one of them is a 4

got it, thx. first word I thought of to add to it, didn't even count the letters and it worked

but i think de gr5/16 should be a word.

still haven't found the right combo of letters for the te8 though

9:40 am

the 5 can be spelled backwards and forwards and they are both legit words

it's one who or one that does

9:40 am

ones who te5, Carla.

yes. did not notice that.

9:40 am

and who doesn't want to te?

gracias. thought I'd tried that. and seriously, huh?

you know you've been doing this too long when you don't even need to look at the grid and can find words.

there are so many words that one who does should be a word but it isn't accepted

9:41 am

yep

does that ever happen to you when using lickety, especially?

9:42 am

me? I don't use lickety

you never refer to his list?

happens to me all the time with the list.

9:43 am

no

moo doesn't list, he just does as much as he can, which is usually an insane amount!!

Still looking for the no9 and not seeing it - any clues please

9:43 am

it's because I'm insane

i love the challenge of just going for it.

9:43 am

what you get if you don't complete college, Marian

marian, it's not getting something from a college

9:44 am

if you went to college then this word is probably inappropriate

9:45 am

Could someone say college again? : D

9:45 am

college

Thanks Hokie and Mool - did not know that as one word

9:45 am

college again

how about university like the english call it?

9:45 am

we called in university

9:45 am

college was usually a private high school

well, I figured you did

9:46 am

we certainly did not call it school...probably a branding thing :)

seems like NZ/Aus English is same as UK English

9:46 am

more similar than the US, but not entirely the same

9:46 am

especially australian

i wish the brits would speak english ;)

9:47 am

clue please for no9?

same, TO ;P

Hi. Can anyone help me with the lone O in the first column?

moo, are you going to throw some shrimp on the barbie? haha, I kill me.

9:47 am

ge 6/27, pls

Flask, in University you earn a de6 - the no is not that.

9:47 am

no need to criticise it if you don't favour it ;)

9:47 am

od4.4

9:48 am

The Brits have a language all their own. Prams, nappies, eggy bread.

player girl - like when a light bulb goes off over your head in a cartoon but change the first letter

9:48 am

ge6 - sex

9:48 am

something you might find on a government form bich

I always miss that babblet.

9:48 am

Flask, did you get the clues for the no9?

9:48 am

my ex brother-in-law went to australia and asked the waiter for a nappie

9:49 am

he meant a serviette of course ;)

Oh Moo, too funny!

9:49 am

Bob's your uncle, bollocks, bubble and squeak.

is a serviette a napkin? and a nappie is a diaper, correct?

9:49 am

thanks playergirl

I once told someone British that I wasn't going to wear pants somewhere and she thought I meant panties while I just planned on wearing a skirt.

9:50 am

serviette is a Germn word oo

9:50 am

My favorite from a Brit friend is billywhiz...

jumper = sweater, whereas US jumper is like an overalls dress

I can't figure out any other r from bottom row

There are a lot. Israel is a real melting pot and English speakers tend to group together so it can be funny.

time to move. nice day to walk, thinking i will take some water and just keep on walking.

9:51 am

correct hoke

9:51 am

US folks "go potty" whereas we just go to the toilet!!

9:51 am

CArla, there is an ra7.28.

sounds good, TO. enjoy

9:51 am

serviette is a french word

9:52 am

I believe, let me check

9:52 am

yes, french

well, if they're three year old.

thx bea. had tried that with one less t

9:52 am

I thought y'all went to the loo

9:52 am

no, that's more english

9:52 am

we just use the toilet

yeah, I don't really say go potty

or go to the bathroom

in appalachia we say commode instead of toilet

which might also be frensh

9:53 am

I have trouble with adults who say "go potty"

french

9:53 am

Aussies will sometimes say commode as a faux sophistication

h,,. must look up the etymology of commode

9:53 am

Good morning. Is it potty-talk day? :D

9:54 am

So do I Molly!

9:54 am

apparently it stems from a french word for convenience

9:54 am

My first MIL went "te te"

our parents were very insistent that we not use any "baby talk", so taught us to use grown up polite words.

well, if us appalachians are known for anything it's sophistication LOL

9:54 am

eerie

commodious

9:54 am

likewise aussies :)

hahahaha carla

Some South Africans had a huge laugh at my expense when, on a picnic in the woods, I referred to silverware. It was the cheap plastic kind which they'd call cutlery, for them silverware is silver - or at least decent stainless steel.

9:54 am

sounds latin

yeah, I try to call it plasticware instead because I think, wait, this isn't silver

9:55 am

inmead - what vikings did before going into battle. The viking crew inmead themselves over several hours prior to setting off for the village

Right, hokie

9:56 am

we call it cutlery...

9:56 am

not that that is any better

bea, guess my missing a from the bottom row :D

My parents used to say "Make a sissy" which was fine when we were really little but caused me to cringe when my father would still say it when we were grown.

9:56 am

Except you can't really "cutler" anything with a plastic knife

cutlery sounds just a little too fancy. and ironic that it sounds fancier to me than silverware.

9:57 am

my folks too pg

9:57 am

hard to cutler with a spoon :)

9:57 am

Carla, it has to be an AT

9:57 am

are you originally from NYC?

Me? I origninall am from Long Island but both my parents were from the city. Why is Sissy a city word?

that was my guess. I have 6, 8, 8, 9, 6

9:59 am

Sorry, CArla...It is an ar4. =)

oh duh, thank you!

In Israel they'll say PeePee even to adults.

9:59 am

going to go walk....4 left for me. The discussion this morning really makes me think of the Bill Bryson book At Home...talks about the origin of many of these terms

9:59 am

pg, I think it's a Long Island word [perhaps Jewish] My Mom even said sissy soo

9:59 am

I figured you had the easy one.

TY Hokie, that got me my last A from the `st column\

have a good walk, moo

10:00 am

sometimes can't see the forest for the trees, bea

i am going to walk off the cheesesteak i intend to order. tired of my own cooking.

10:00 am

LOL!

10:00 am

We may have had this conversation, PlayerGirl, but where on Long Island are you from?

10:00 am

Maybe Bich, but my husband's family used the Yiddish Pish, of course his parents were Holocaust survivors and they spoke Yiddish at home.

10:00 am

I need two more a words from the corner a

10:00 am

Mmm, cheesesteak

10:01 am

Just woke up (little nap!)and read down the chat.I always insisted on using proper words with my daughter until one day my mother in law said to her 'did you see the moat-moat - car- she called it that till she was about 24. Well not quite!!!

10:01 am

I lived in Levittown until I was 4 1/2 Matty. Don't remember much and I never went to school there. Where are you from?

10:01 am

Baldwin, originally!

10:01 am

10:06 am

Where do you live Temple?

10:06 am

I haven't been back to the US for a few years now - certainly not since 2015 and I can't remember if I went then (FB would be able to tell me though)

well, there must be some movement here. for some reason, i felt the need to wash and style hair AND put on eyeliner today. for what, i do not know. just staying in practice.

so i am behind on the morning.

10:11 am

haha, I did makeup on Fri for my zoom happy hour

happy babbling.

10:11 am

I'm procrastinating finishing a boring work task ;)

10:11 am

my firend calls me every night so late that i am half asleep, with no makeup or smeary eyes. "why does your eye look black?"

10:12 am

thank you, bichon, didn't even know I needed that. still have 6 g's left

because it's midnight. :?

oh hell, i knew i should not turn on the news. yesterday tyson food's reporting that the supply chain is broken surely sparked a run on meat. today, the teaaser is that there is a baby chick shortage.

10:15 am

"Why people are flocking to buy them". duh

10:16 am

I see what they did there

10:16 am

Off for dinner...my boys just finished their workout (lot of grunting in the living room). BBL

perhaps to ensure a supply of eggs. we won't go any further.

here you can rent chickens. it's a thing, especially lately.

10:22 am

how is reaim not a word? if you miss your target, you reaim and try again.

10:24 am

totally agree, hokie

10:25 am

oh well, stuck with 15 left. guess I will take a break and try later.

10:29 am

why is strim not allowed? What do you call strimmers?

10:30 am

h'mm, don't know that word, Deeha

10:30 am

its a machine that cuts particularly the edges of a lawn

10:31 am

oh, like a trimmer..

10:31 am

we call those ed6

10:31 am

apparently strimmer is a brand name....

10:32 am

sometimes weedeaters are called string trimmers, maybe strimmers is a portmanteau

10:32 am

... checked Wikipedia ... the word is used in the UK but not in the US

10:32 am

ok I can see that but we do have a cross over in the dictionary - english and - er- english

10:32 am

... and it's not 1200 years old

10:33 am

you all also use a brand name, hoover, for vacuuming. interesting.

10:33 am

true its not archaic scots!!

10:34 am

and xerox....but not every brand name becomes a generic word....

10:34 am

true, I was just pointing out another UK only one

10:34 am

no strimmer isnt a brand name there are lots of makers

10:34 am

xerox, bandaid, kleenex all here

10:35 am

... it's a contraction of string trimmer

10:35 am

my rother in US always laughs about hoover

10:35 am

how interesting doseffing

10:36 am

... credit to Wikipedia

10:36 am

a late Babble player, Jillibus, once wrote... "I've decided the compiler of Enable is a prurient Jewish Scot who is a mining engineer with various medical conditions including dyslexia, and some musical leanings, who has travelled widely and collected a large variety of coins and currencies as well as sundry snippets of several languages, but is slightly out of date about cyberspace. S/he must have had some legal activities too and a penchant for using archaic language....

10:36 am

hey, I said it at 10:32!

10:36 am

10:37 am

10:37 am

10:39 am

it's a made up non word, hursh

10:39 am

as in a no 9 student?... ;o)

10:39 am

... I've done lots of courses for no credit just for the information and knowledge

10:40 am

we called that "auditing" a class

10:40 am

He who could eat no fat is in the grid and acceptable!

10:40 am

i have actually heard people described as no 9 students...

10:40 am

*puzzling*

10:41 am

think college or university

10:41 am

... that would imply that there are others taking it for d de6 ... what if none of the students are in a programme?

10:41 am

I believe that is (should be) hyphenated

10:41 am

ahhh thanks

10:41 am

my major was accounting but I took electives that were no9 related

10:41 am

maybe it's a fabulous monster, like the jabberwocky :D

10:42 am

the sp 5 is apparently a herring....or an "inconsequential person".....i will have to remember that.... ;o)

10:42 am

you're all just assuming that it is made from those constituent parts

10:43 am

well, we have to assume since there's no definition for it

10:43 am

ty pen

10:43 am

or we can make up our own

10:44 am

... you don't remember the nursery rhyme about Jack and his wife and their eating habits? ....

10:44 am

i think the no9 is a large purple deer-like creature that eats kudzu

10:44 am

we could only be so lucky to have a creature eat kudzu

10:44 am

I'll take some of whatever Hursh is smoking

10:45 am

it's called having an imagination lol

10:45 am

LOL hurshy

10:45 am

broke down and went to the list. of course the first 2 I'm missing are alt versions of scottish babblets

10:45 am

yes, his wife could eat no lean... ;o)....used to read that one to myself along with other rhymes on rainy days from a one-volume encyclopedia that we had....

10:46 am

Guess they ought to import some down to Georgia to ese their kudzu issues

10:46 am

going to get some lunch...bbl to finish....

10:47 am

finally found gr7 and it exploded into fw, lol

10:48 am

well done. can I have a clue for de6/30?

10:49 am

10:49 am

10:50 am

yw.. have to scoot.. happy Babbling everyone!

10:50 am

have a good day!

10:50 am

I'm back. I called them and they said they were just talking about calling me. I think they were relieved to have me make the call. The wedding is cancelled. Maybe next year

10:52 am

Great. No hard feelings and nothing to feel bad about. I hope next year goes great.

10:55 am

Good news, gramma - it's lovely to see all parties behaving as sensible adults (I fear I read too many advice columnists. Of course, the people who write to advice columnists are usually either dealing with people who are not sensible adults or they are not sensible adults themselves)

10:55 am

10:55 am

10:55 am

11:02 am

I work on this everyday on my lunch break, and can never seem to get it completed lol. On occasion, I can get to it a little more during my day, but mostly not. I do love learning the new words :)

11:02 am

But honestly, have only finished twice

11:03 am

Im up to 90 words right now, and down to my last half hour and running out of speed lol

11:03 am

do you use the list?

11:03 am

What list?

11:04 am

look below under Friends of Babble - Lickety's Babble Clues

11:04 am

that can help if you don't have all day :D

11:04 am

I have the list of squares and how many words come out of it, and then the list of how many words of each length. I try to use those, but its sometimes hard to figure out which letters go to the longer length words lol

11:05 am

yes, you'll find lickety's list helpful

11:05 am

I never paid attention to the links below before lol

11:06 am

personally, i favor the printable list

11:07 am

Due to working at home, my printer is now out of ink lol

11:07 am

but i believe i am in the minority on that

11:07 am

I favor the print list as well.

11:07 am

i don't actually PRINT it, just use it on my screen

11:08 am

gotcha! I just clicked it

11:09 am

a lot of people start with the list right from the get go.. i like to only use it if i'm stuck towards the end.. everyone plays this game differently and that's what makes it great for everyone

11:09 am

yeah i use it either at the end or not at all

11:10 am

if you have limited time it is the most helpful way to finish

11:10 am

unless you're a genius like dart or mool

11:11 am

I just started watching it yesterday Harry

12:41 pm

I loved Unorthodox!

12:42 pm

Did you watch Shtisel?

12:42 pm

did you read the book as well, Doren

12:42 pm

I couldn't get into shtisel.

12:42 pm

no I did not watch Shtisel. is it just as good?

12:42 pm

I tried the first episode and gave up

12:42 pm

there was a really good show called "srugim" though

12:43 pm

I had given up on Shtisel last year but since the young woman who played Esti in Unorthodox was in it I tried it again recently and I am thoroughly addicted. Almost done with the second season

12:44 pm

I'll try shtisel again.

12:44 pm

I need to finish Unorthodox first

12:44 pm

Hope it gets you as it did me

12:46 pm

ooh tomi depaola's strega is in the grid.

12:46 pm

so far I am liking it

12:46 pm

RIP

12:46 pm

Oh definitely peri. Hard not to watch it all the way through I actually did it all in one night. Stayed up late, but no problam

12:46 pm

Yeah I had to force mys elf to go to sleep and not watch the 4th at 12:45 am

12:46 pm

I watched 2 episodes yesterday.

12:47 pm

I was in Israel two years ago, so it did make watching Shtisel a bit more interesting

12:47 pm

I have spent alot of time there. and have much exposure to these communities

12:47 pm

But it really is like a soap opera and once you know the characters you begin to care about them and want to check in and see what's going on. When I finish Shtisel, I'm going to Fauda Season 3. Heavy on the Israelis right now

12:48 pm

I watched the first few episodes of fauda, and then gave up

12:48 pm

too stressful

12:48 pm

but I highly recommend srugim

12:49 pm

I think Unorthodox was fascinating on many levels, whether or not you can identify with them (as a nonSecular Jew, I can't identify with Satmars at all) And yes, Fauda WAS stressful

12:49 pm

I'll try it Harry, thanks

12:56 pm

2:24 pm

Thank you!

2:33 pm

yay alembick!

2:38 pm

I loved Unorthodox too!!

2:40 pm

I never heard of it.

2:54 pm

Excellent film on Netflix.....based on book/true story

I watched Shtisel when it came out here (I understand Hebrew) it was the first TV show my husband had actually watched in over 40 years. He still giggles at "Rashaim Arurim" which means Cursed Bad Guys but Shtisel's brother used it all the time. I also watched Srugim and Unorthodox. I like the Unorthodox film much better than her original memoire. I felt it was more even handed.

What about Fauda?

I am waiting for Season 3 to hit Netflix. My Hebrew reading isn't fast enough to get the Arabic so for that I do need English subtitles. They haven't put Season 3 on Netflix here in Israel. Probably too current.

3:43 pm

Player - Can you read Hebrew well enough to translate something that was written to my mother in a book she got in Israel recently?

3:44 pm

Ha - Fireworks!

4:14 pm

Congrats!

5:17 pm

Fine. I am glad I don't have to stay at home all day every day. I have on of those essential jobs. Funny, though, sometimes I wish I wasn't essential! Can't win for losing I guess! I just really want to be able to go out and hear some live music at our local venues.

glad we are both doing good -- sorry about not being able to hear live music though

5:19 pm

Yes, glad too! The music will happen again. So, there is that to look forward too
