I"m surprised "queer" is acceptable lexicon to those who are gay. Maybe because it's only one letter away from "queen" ? Nah, I'm kidding. Queer used to just mean peculiar. It also used to be slang for heroin.
I guess words, much like humans, evolve over time.
I think this is relatively new and I'm not sure that all gay people are accepting it. Certainly not gay people of our generation who grew up hearing queer as a pejorative.
And they come and go in the "fashion" sense.
As a heterosexual, I am not qualified to make the call.
I figure it’s just polite to call people what they want to be called, even if it changes from time to time.

Good morning all...just to weigh in, the best practice is to simply ask a person how they wish to be addressed. Whether gay or trans or any part of the LGBTQ2 spectrum, people prefer to be asked their preference. And it's not just about sexuality but also about gender.
He is getting too old for the winters. Has sever arthritis. He is looking to move to warmer climes.

i want to go meatless today. i find i am eating more red meat than i like to, since it's available.
our freezer is just a typical one, connected to the fridge, and not really a big one, but we are pretty stocked on frozen veggies and meats for now. the meats here have been getting harder to come by and hte prices have skyrocketed
i miss fresh meat. no chicken left, only some chuck and maybe one pork chop.
same here, only the small freezer. have been trying to eat down what's there, and in the pantry.
i ate a frozen pizza for lunch the past two days just to free up space.
I think we have more meat available now that back in march. mr. hokie kept asking at the grocery then and they kept saying a truck was coming the next day and it never would.
shortages seem to track when the area was shut down. there is so much TP here now.
we have a garage fridge and basement fridge in addition to our kitchen one so pretty good space. we had a standup freezer in the garage for years but it broke before we got the basement fridge.
since the meat packing plants have been closing down it has been harder. I stopped at the store last week to pick up prescriptions, and there were people arguing with the butcher over meats not available.

I'm finally really impressed by our governor, Pritzger & our mayor, Lori Lightfoot. They are both listening to the science/medical people, not these jerks who are putting money ahead of lives. We are pretty much shut down til the end of this month, and also into June. They are not making any promises and are very open about that. No one knows what's going to happen, so they're playing it by ear. Lotsa updates. Lotsa deaths here. They are pulling out some hard stops for the people who are having house parties, or businesses trying to make a little unsafe profit. Better safe than dead in my book. I'm in Chicago, Illinios.
They also have a fairly well thought out 'open-the-state' strategy, but again, it's play it by ear.
Iowa is our neighbor, I've driven through there many times. Besides the Des Moines area, you have, what, like 8 people living in the whole state? I jest, of course. Some states will be easier to open than others, Iowa is one of them.

I tend to err on the side of reason so while I may see my boyfriend and have contact (ahem), the couple of friends I've seen have stayed at a distance
my advice helen, and i have had one knee done. is to have one at a time. the pain is excruciating first day post-op. and i am pretty gutsy when it comes to pain. also it will be very difficult to weight-bear on both legs which is what is expected of you, day one post-op.

I live in Cedar Rapids so there are thousands here and people are pretty competent. I still go see my friend, a bartender, after they close and have dinner with him, but won't go during happy hour or even later on

gr - my doc has done one video chat with me, otherwise we just e-mail. She knows me very well, knows that I provide very accurate descriptions, and gives me meds without needing to see me. Like, one of the cats just bit me - 2 punctures, one healing well, the other angry red circle around it. No problem getting the antibiotics. The only time I have to go out is to pick up a monthly prescription of one med that is a controlled substance, they won't deliver that.
good practice helen. i am fortunate in that hubby is happy to go out for necessities. i have said we could have everything delivered but he says he is very carefully while out. he has a small bottle of sanitiser hanging from the strap of his bag, which he uses frequently when out.
So, hubbies are good for somethings. I wouldn't know, never had one, but sure could use one, lol.
