I"m surprised "queer" is acceptable lexicon to those who are gay. Maybe because it's only one letter away from "queen" ? Nah, I'm kidding. Queer used to just mean peculiar. It also used to be slang for heroin.

8:10 am

I guess words, much like humans, evolve over time.

8:10 am

I think this is relatively new and I'm not sure that all gay people are accepting it. Certainly not gay people of our generation who grew up hearing queer as a pejorative.

8:10 am

And they come and go in the "fashion" sense.

8:13 am

As a heterosexual, I am not qualified to make the call.

I figure it’s just polite to call people what they want to be called, even if it changes from time to time.

8:14 am

*singing*... call me irresponsible...

8:15 am

No one feels the need to address my by my sexuality so I refrain from doing that to others. I just call people by their names. : )

8:15 am

Rob, Twin Cities as in Minn/St.P

Yep!

8:16 am

My brother and his fam live up there.

Cool! It’s a pretty nice place to live, once you get used to the winters...

8:16 am

Good morning all...just to weigh in, the best practice is to simply ask a person how they wish to be addressed. Whether gay or trans or any part of the LGBTQ2 spectrum, people prefer to be asked their preference. And it's not just about sexuality but also about gender.

8:17 am

He is getting too old for the winters. Has sever arthritis. He is looking to move to warmer climes.

Makes sense. My wife is the same way, but we’ll be here at least until our daughter graduates from high school.

trite

oops! sorry!

8:18 am

I agree, Krysten.

8:18 am

The whole gender preference thing has me confused as well. I try to just stick to referring to people by name.

8:18 am

It

8:19 am

It's not always that easy, Molly but yes, that is best.

8:19 am

Agreed, Molly. It has gotten too confusing if you ask me. There needs to be ribbons and a reference key or something. ;-P

8:21 am

I have a friend who is a shrink and he wonders if schizophrenics will start wanting to be called "they". : D

8:21 am

Some practices make is easier. For example my work email signature let's everyone know how I prefer to be addressed - she/her/hers

8:21 am

It's now standard practice for all of our execs to do this as well.

8:21 am

I have seen the gender and it is us!

ha ha ha Molly ;)

8:22 am

hello all. I am from the Twin Cities as well.

Hi Chris!

8:22 am

'They' is typically a preference for trans people

8:23 am

Hi back Robespierre

8:23 am

I don't really care for the email signature that indicates gender reference preference. It just seems like it is taking things to far. But I am old and stuck in my ways.

8:23 am

*too far

8:23 am

pate

8:23 am

pb for me

8:24 am

Then again, Molly - who reads e-mail signatures?

8:24 am

I agree Judi. I don't use one.

8:25 am

We're required to use one at work. Blah blah blah.

8:25 am

Good Morning :) Another day working from home.. affords me Babble time, which I don't get too often :)

8:26 am

Hiya, CadFan.

8:26 am

Cad, do you like working from home?

8:28 am

Yes. I do.

8:30 am

We've been discussing the changes that Covid has made to our lives. I'm wondering if more people and companies will realize it is easier an more beneficial for people to work from home.

8:30 am

I use a professional email signature with my contact information only. I'm talking about email signatures that have inspirational quotes or personal information.

8:31 am

hello

8:31 am

Many employers do not care for work from home. They feel like they are not getting their money's worth.

8:32 am

i'm all in on calling people what they want to be called namewise

Twitter just announced that their workers will be working from home permanently and I believe other tech compaines are leaning that way too

8:33 am

My husband usually carpools to work - most of the people in his carpool have been working from home since this all started, most of them are going to continue to do so once the restrictions are lifted. He really can't.

8:33 am

'morning, folks

8:34 am

hello welki

8:34 am

My husband worked from IBM and he worked remote. That was ten years ago.

8:35 am

i'd be interested to see, with companies switching folks to working from home, the changes in service/retail costs due to decreased overhead/infrastructure

8:36 am

i suppose not much will change; it'll take years for companies to rebound

8:36 am

I'm imagining how confusing referring to someone as "they" could get. John said that they would like pizza for lunch. Who? John. John and who? Just John. You said they.

8:36 am

I doubt we see any of that decrease, welki. But, yes, they will save a lot of money with remote workers.

8:39 am

The best part of what this virus has done to business is no face to face meetings. And less meetings. Most meetings are a total waste of time.

8:39 am

My cat id giving the dog a bath. Dog does not like it...

8:40 am

is your dog named timex?

8:40 am

Sounds like an Odie and Garfield thing, Bea : D

8:40 am

good morning everyone

8:41 am

LOL ruru

8:41 am

LOL...No, her name is Emma.

8:42 am

Our grandchildren are learning what life used to be like every Sunday -- stay home with the family and all the stores were closed.

8:43 am

My 7 yo granddaughter got a cat. She named it Pie. She named it Pie because she wanted to call it Sweetie Pie, Honey Pie, Cutie Pie...She adores that cat!

8:44 am

I'm sure thing are very different for a lot of families. I don't know how some families do it. Soccer on Monday, dance classes on Tuesday, karate on Thursday.

I had a feeling this was going to be a big one today. weird.

8:45 am

hello...J stats pls

8:45 am

you mean the grid right hokie?

8:45 am

ji6.33

8:45 am

Anyone have a clue for the Re8/45?

8:45 am

ty

yep, of course :D

8:46 am

i was going to say lucky you otherwise :D

8:47 am

It is a bird Judi, With a colorful back part.

8:47 am

Thanks, Molls.

8:47 am

Carla is our new "grid clairvoyant"

if only I could actually see the words

8:48 am

Thank you Molly.

8:48 am

Hawk.

already tripped up on the o, can only get 5 so far

8:48 am

<-----Has all the vowels grey.

well done

8:49 am

you've cleared your vowels then bea

I haven't even looked at the rest of them and don't plan to until I get to them

8:50 am

My fish! Found it at 197 left!

8:50 am

Nothing like a good vowel cleansing.

ha!

8:51 am

And there is no russian ruler today, Carla.

8:51 am

5th column T stats?

8:51 am

te6/21

8:52 am

ty

8:54 am

Oh, yes...It smashed into eleven.

8:57 am

Fmitch's favorite word

9:03 am

Down to 199. Doubt I'll finish this beast today. Lacking ambition.

9:05 am

Nah you can do it, Judi!

9:05 am

Although I still have 327 left haha!

9:05 am

Dr. Bright about to testify....MSNBC

I made it to the 2nd row, 1st L

9:06 am

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Zooz, but....

9:06 am

No idea who Dr Bright is.

me either

it's probably worse that I don't

and I'm not sure what he/she is testifying in

9:08 am

Another Covid expert advisor.

9:08 am

I have no clue, either, Carla. I just stay away from the news.

9:08 am

may I have clue for the te 6/21?

9:08 am

te6 - sounds like the number ran into eleven

9:09 am

Te + friend/buddy + plural

9:09 am

its on the main page of my computer

it's that stupid madagascar animal that always throws me

9:09 am

Is she testifying or just talking about the virus?

9:10 am

Under 300 left - better do work for a while LOL BBL

9:11 am

is Dr, BRight the blonde who is Trumps mouthpiece?

9:11 am

Have fun, CadFan!

9:14 am

Dr. Fauci is to fond of telling the truth, so I think he has been thrown under the bus

9:14 am

No, Dr. Bright was fired from the federal agency that was developing the Covid vaccine.

9:15 am

oh -- what did she say that trump didn't like?

9:16 am

i am praying America votes him out of office this fall

9:16 am

I hope so too, ru -- also hope that America gets to vote this fall

9:17 am

Bright was saying that the medication Trump has been touting wasn't going to work. Any time some one opposes this MF, they are gone...

9:18 am

She probably said no to putting disinfectant into the vaccine.

9:20 am

you would think that by now trump supporters would see what is going on and recognize him for what he is --- but I guess if you never watch or listen to anything but trump approved media. It is just so unbelievable that anyone would suppress information and refuse cooperation causing thousands of deaths just so he could have a better chance at getting reelected

9:22 am

Yes, nan. I don't understand it either. there are just so many people that will vote for him again only because he is the Reupblican nominee.

9:24 am

I am back and have a confession to make. I lied. I just cleaned my bathtub after stating earlier that I was not going to do any cleaning today.

9:25 am

LOL! Peri, you just crack me up!

9:25 am

Trump 2020

9:25 am

I did it because my neighbor is going to replace the caulk around the tub and I did not want him to think I was a complete mess

9:26 am

this is my day and I plan to celebrate by doing just as I please :)

9:26 am

I bought a tub scrubber about 2 years ago with a long handle so I would not have to kneel. Used it once and promptly lost the cord. I cannot find it anywhere

9:26 am

I do hope that Judi is made aware of this situation :-)

9:27 am

is it your birthday nan?

9:27 am

yes

9:27 am

Molly will be sure to tell her, peri.

9:27 am

Happy Birthday, nan!

9:27 am

a very happy birthday to you nan

9:28 am

Happy Birthday to you, Nan!!

9:29 am

thank you -- my favourite scotch will be served at happy hour :)

9:30 am

bonne fête nan !

9:30 am

36.5 million people unemployed in America currently...and only looks like it's going to get worse

9:30 am

🎈🎉Happy Birthday Nan 🎉🎈

9:30 am

which is your favorite scotch nan?

9:31 am

macallan 21 yr

9:32 am

oh.. wow...that's a great scotch

9:32 am

expensive too

9:32 am

yes -- kept for special occasions

9:33 am

<L--- good thing ru isn't a house guest at Nan's house

9:33 am

<---would bring his own straw

9:34 am

I don't think I have ever owned a bottle of liquor that cost over 100 dollars. I would need to put it on an al5 or something.

9:34 am

scotch through a straw? *shudders*

9:35 am

i have 3 bottles that cost more than 100.. and next paycheck i'm buying another one i' ve always wanted

9:36 am

most of the others are all normal pricing

9:36 am

Molly at least it lasts for a while -- bought hubby an $80 bottle of wine for his birthday and it was gone in 3 days

9:36 am

what do you have and what are you buying ruru?

9:36 am

you mean over 100? peri?

9:37 am

yes

9:37 am

Pierre Ferrand Ancestrale, Highland Park 18 year old,

9:37 am

> I'm going to ru's house, but I'm bringing a glass

9:38 am

i'm planning to buy a highland park loki next..

9:38 am

what are they ruru? scotch?

9:38 am

scotch and cognac peri

9:38 am

ok

9:38 am

i also have some Elmer T Lee Bourbon that is great and over 100

9:38 am

I will stick with Cointreau

9:38 am

I might like the bourbon. but not scotch or cognac

9:39 am

I am common all i can afford is southern Comfort lol

9:39 am

Molly I do hope you are paying attention to the chart i.e. 9:24

9:39 am

ooh - cognac and a box of belgian chocolate truffles --- heaven

9:41 am

Yes Peri, not only that, but I looked into extended arm scrubbers. Right now, I use scrub brushes that fit on my power drill. But there is no extended arm involved in that.

9:41 am

ok

9:41 am

i'm all for power drilling

9:42 am

Geez is that not a bit extreme having a back scrubber on a power drill!

9:42 am

Nan - your icon is spot on!!!

9:45 am

yes - apparently only some of us need to wear masks and self isolate when we have been exposed

9:46 am

Good morning.

9:46 am

hi ori

9:46 am

good morning ori

9:46 am

I am finding that many people can not read arrow, either.

9:47 am

Good morning, ori.

9:47 am

Nice juicy grid this morning.

9:49 am

Zoom, it's tub scrubbers we're talking about

9:50 am

People can read arrow just fine. They just don't pay attention to it because it is not convenient for THEM

9:50 am

aah! I see thank you, Molly. I did wonder ha!

9:50 am

Only a masochist would put a back scrubber on a power drill. : D

9:51 am

haha!

9:52 am

There are people I refer to as "crowders". They have no regard for personal space. You know, the ones that get right up behind you in line? This six feet of distance thing must be driving them crazy.

9:54 am

The people in my town think the rules do not apply to them. They don't even stop at stop signs.

9:54 am

oh dear, Bea

9:54 am

Even before this mess, the crowders drove me crazy. I was taught that you wait at least 4 feet back from the next person. Do they think it is going to go faster if they stand on top of you?

9:55 am

Molly i had one like that this morning she was wearing her mask but the more I tried to move away from her she would just move forward like I was not even there and she sure wasnt looking at the marked lines on the floor

9:56 am

I think following arrows whe shopping will become the new norm -- in time it will be automatic.

9:56 am

I know, ori. Same way in a car. Why get right on my bumper? I also hang back at least a car length. They honk at me and motion for me to move up...

9:57 am

I do too, nan.

9:57 am

Chelyq I also had one like that when I was getting shopping. So what I did was put the large shopping trolly behind me and stood in front of that making sure there was plenty of space in front of me. That had them.

9:58 am

i only went in for Tylenol so did not grab a cart I should have

9:59 am

i like to spin around and whack them with my cart

9:59 am

help with re8 pls. I have several re7

10:00 am

judgements in court done again

10:00 am

I have a plural of the re7.32, the hawk

10:00 am

rats ruru I already had that one

10:00 am

sounds fun ru

10:00 am

I did not realize I had it

10:01 am

I do not have re7/32

10:01 am

off for breakfast - hagd

10:03 am

Enjoy your birthday Nan

10:03 am

help with the re7/32 pls

10:03 am

Kind of hawk. Bird with a colored back part.

10:04 am

10:04 am

morning all....ooh a big one today

10:04 am

bbl

10:05 am

that makes an 8 too

10:05 am

Zoom, I do the same thing with the shopping cart. I get in front of it. That really seems to bug The Crowders.

10:10 am

I finally made it through each tile, getting at least half on each. 116 to go!

10:11 am

Wow! I've still got 120...

10:11 am

yeah, but you emptied the vowels

10:12 am

and I hid the chat so I could focus ;)

10:12 am

She gets a WOW for having 4 more words than you? : D

10:12 am

hey, she knows what kind of player I am :D

10:13 am

I'm 117 behind you hoke :)

10:13 am

I did not find any 8s

10:13 am

have 3 8s so far

10:13 am

you'll catch me soon, moo

10:13 am

:)

10:14 am

There was a 7/8 combo clued at 10ish

10:14 am

checking my list now to see if I missed any combos

10:15 am

10:16 am

ok, will start adding re to all my 6's :D

10:17 am

ra 7 8 combo as well

10:17 am

apparently you cannot re at6

10:18 am

and you might be able to remove rodents but you can't deant

10:18 am

I know that's true as I cannot get them out of this room!

10:18 am

Terro bait traps...

10:19 am

yeah, we've used that brand some, but I have to put them up high away from the dog. I usually just kill them when I see them with a strip of packing ta4

10:22 am

found an 8!

10:22 am

So did I...Plural of a 7...Teasing comb.

10:23 am

10:29 am

10:36 am

10:36 am

technically wut isn't an acronym, just an internet misspelling

10:36 am

good morning ori.. have any more of the vino?

10:37 am

10:37 am

good to have standards hokie

10:37 am

well imho we know you use ttit and others :D

10:38 am

yeah, that's where I draw the line ;)

10:38 am

and I really hate that young kids today think whoa is spelled woah

10:38 am

*adds to hokie's hate list*

10:38 am

yeh I don't understand that either

10:39 am

the one i can't stand is Hella..

10:39 am

now I got 99 problems (i.e. words left) but a ___ ain't one

10:39 am

i just want to smack the person who says it in front of me

10:39 am

Hella?

10:39 am

Gwen Stefani, either solo or with No Doubt, had a song with hella in it

10:40 am

Hell of? Hello?

10:40 am

I don't like most of it because it is over used like the horse that gets beaten to death. Same with business catch phrases like "to that point" and "reach out".

10:40 am

hell of a

10:40 am

I don't know that I've ever heard it in conversation. she is from CA, maybe it's a CA thing

10:40 am

"going forward" Molly

10:41 am

oh

10:41 am

all the millenials are using it here.. in a restaurant that's all you can hear in conversations.. it's maddening

10:41 am

my current business pet peeve is saying difineate for define. It hurst just to type it.

10:42 am

ok, Hella Good was recorded by No Doubt in 2001

10:42 am

although i'm from the hippie generation so I am sure we used words that my parents hated

10:42 am

and definitize

10:42 am

wut??

10:42 am

wut kind of bothers me too

10:42 am

see, wut is used for what when it's something unbelievable

10:43 am

to emphasize how ridiculous something is

10:43 am

how do you feel about woot!!

10:43 am

Gwen Stefani, Taylor Swift, Rhianna...all the no talent music females have songs with hella in them

10:43 am

as an exclamation? I don't say it but do mind woot

10:43 am

I don't get Rhianna at all .. her music is horrible

10:44 am

Woot is almost as over used as reach out

10:44 am

Taylor Swift isn't all that great either.

10:44 am

she's not a strong singer but is a de6 songwriter

10:45 am

Jelly for jealous is the one that makes my ears bleed (or my eyes, if I'm reading)

10:45 am

I don't know her songs but i change the channel when they come on

10:45 am

rhianna - I like a couple of her songs but she is too na5ly most of the time

10:45 am

Do people even know how stupid they sound?

10:46 am

I do like Christina Aguilera (sp?) although not so much her choice in songs, but her voice is simply amazing

10:46 am

ooo I found sl8 all by myself. I ambursting with pride

10:46 am

she's an incredible singer. I don't care for the crazy runs but she has a voice for sure

10:46 am

I have a friend who is trying very hard to make me a Gaga fan. I just can't get there.

10:46 am

Jelly is aweful too molly I agree..

10:47 am

al 8 I just found looking for the sl

10:47 am

cool, I don't have that one, jmc. so jelly

10:47 am

And that answers that question

10:47 am

I've gotten to like Gaga.. over time i never liked Madonna but Gaga has more talent

10:47 am

gaga is also an incredible singer. you might have to look past her fashion choices

10:48 am

obvi, I was doing that on purpose to annoy

10:48 am

found the sl8!

10:48 am

awful .. typo

10:49 am

obvi?

10:49 am

lol, I thought you were trying to convey full of awe

10:49 am

(obviously - also on purpose because I know Molly loves it)

10:49 am

Watch those typos, you pervert

10:50 am

there's something creepy about Madonna

10:50 am

I know.. my typing always gets me in trouble

10:50 am

now or always with madonna?

10:51 am

she's creepier now more than ever

10:51 am

I think it's because she's 62 but still acting like she's 22

10:52 am

yeah and her 23 year old boyfriend .. ewww

10:52 am

WUT?? I didn't know about that

10:52 am

google it

10:53 am

I'm afraid to

10:54 am

I dated older women when i was younger but not 40 years older

10:54 am

that is super creepy

10:54 am

I mean she's definitely old enough to be his grandmother

10:55 am

i should shut up now

10:55 am

why, are people here dating people 40 years younger?

10:56 am

no some people try to pretend they're 40 years younger though :D

10:56 am

Would you feel less creeped out if it were the dude who were much older (e.g. Trump and Melanoma)?

10:57 am

no, I think that's creepy too

10:57 am

ugh that creeps me out too matty.

10:57 am

I dated (married actually) younger men. well only married one of them

10:57 am

i can see a 5-10 year age difference but not 20+

10:57 am

yeah, I can't imagine dating someone the same age as my kids

10:58 am

Had to take a break to eat. That much of an age gap is very creepy. What could you possibly have in common? That said, my husband was 20 years older than me.

10:58 am

one of my former wineries married a woman younger than his daughter

10:58 am

winery owners i mean

10:59 am

LOL, people marrying wineries now, that's just wrong!

10:59 am

that sounds like a grape match

10:59 am

smashing

10:59 am

well.. most women have men over a barrel to begin with hokie

11:00 am

how much older is trump to melania?

11:00 am

about a billion years

11:00 am

lol

11:00 am

sorry, I need to convert from Trumpish to English...one moment

11:01 am

he is a dinosaur

11:01 am

She's 50.. he's what 73?

11:01 am

24 years

11:01 am

72 and 48 apparently

11:01 am

wow... ewwwww

11:01 am

so not as bad as like when Anna Nicole Smith married that 90-something guy

11:01 am

she looks so vacant in so many photos

11:02 am

She just turned 50 -

11:02 am

She must be vacant. Who would marry such a man?

11:02 am

oh.. he'll trade her in soon then cadfan

11:02 am

you're right Cad...she's about 2 months older than me :)

11:02 am

and only 2 inches shorter apparently

11:02 am

she just does what she has to do to get through life with trump I guess. if that means vacating her brain, then I guess she will

11:03 am

OOO just found ae9

11:03 am

I really miss Michele Obama

11:03 am

it's okay, the Donald can do all the thinking for the both of them

11:03 am

wow

11:04 am

extra impressive since there are no 9s

11:04 am

I found a 15 letter word starting with X

11:04 am

LOL, ya I can't type... ae8

11:04 am

top that

11:04 am

LOL

11:05 am

I miss Michele also.

11:05 am

so, cadfan, are you a fan of computer aided design or the canadian dollar?

11:05 am

actually it only has 14

11:05 am

maybe she's just a "cad"

11:05 am

or a fan of someone who is a cad

11:06 am

and thanks for the clue cad

11:06 am

LOL, neither. It was a reference to Cadfael

11:06 am

Or is a painter and likes cadmium yellow and red

11:06 am

i'm not sure what mooling is either to be honest

11:06 am

maybe she likes trump?

11:06 am

Well funny story....

11:07 am

Way back when I played tangleword, I forgot my password at some point

11:07 am

i'm all ears

11:07 am

I liked those books, Cad

11:07 am

was annoyed that I couldn't remember it, so just randomly created a name that has no meaning whatsoever

11:07 am

he's a cow (well bull) who likes language

11:08 am

I don't believe anyone has ever asked me for the meaning in the 15 years or so that I've had it

11:08 am

Loved the books, and the series!

11:09 am

well.. i guess i'm the first at something then

11:09 am

yes, I'll give you a green star

11:09 am

And what does rururocks mean?

11:10 am

I just assume his name is ruru and we all know he rocks

11:10 am

or perhaps his rock engine doesn't turn over so well, probably needs a new starter engine

11:10 am

moo, how many words left now?

11:11 am

123

11:11 am

Also participating in a workshop

11:11 am

11:12 am

ruru was a nickname for a great dog named Rudy.. we bred to him a long time ago. He was an amazing dog.. very accomplished golden retreiver

11:12 am

Ah

11:12 am

awww, glad I saw this. is he in the k9 database?

11:13 am

11:14 am

11:15 am

I'm just clicking on all of them to see if they are Rudy

11:16 am

fighting irish, I found it!

11:16 am

oh

11:16 am

re

11:16 am

rudy is a fitting call sign then

11:16 am

really nice boy.. very sweet

11:17 am

he could fly around an agility course like a border collie

11:17 am

super smart too which is why we bred to him

11:18 am

i've been in goldens for a long, long time

11:19 am

yeah, some goldens are not as smart as others

11:20 am

just checked mine's 5 ten pedigree. do not see any wingmasters in there.

11:20 am

my greatest dog wasn't all that smart but was the most beautiful dog you have ever seen. His father was the most famous dog in the breed of all time

11:21 am

I was worried about getting a male since we had a bad male choc lab once upon a time, but winston is the sweetest dog I've ever had or been around.

11:21 am

any clues for the 9 out there? ty

11:21 am

i did get a CD on him though

11:21 am

male goldens are wonderful

11:22 am

no 9s in the stats but could use stats for an 8

11:22 am

oops sorry. i meant the 8. apologies.

11:22 am

my son told me a few years ago he read that dogs don't like to be hugged, but winston will let you literally hold him in a bear hug as long as you like.

11:26 am

11:26 am

11:27 am

11:30 am

sl8 is a slang term for an easy woman

11:31 am

mk

11:32 am

it is a weird word and i cant believe i even knew it.

11:32 am

a woman does not ever want to be called that.

11:32 am

it's a good boggle word, because it builds off a common pa7

11:33 am

is it a compound word/

11:33 am

11:52 am

yuppers!

11:52 am

ok that works

11:52 am

does anyone have both n words on last column/

11:52 am

yes

11:52 am

the five has to do with your sniffer, and then you stick in another vowel to make a 6

11:53 am

hopefully the pr 7's are in jail where they belong -- would have thought "me too" would have given the ones who aren't 2nd thoughts

11:53 am

11:55 am

ohh

12:19 pm

12:21 pm

it doesn't

12:21 pm

yes, looked it up - a Julius Richard Petri...

12:22 pm

and if ne8 counts, why can't we make a similar ra8?

Happy Birthday, nan!

Happy birthday, Nan!!

Whew! I finally greyed a tile! J naturally

2:21 pm

hi Une

2:22 pm

Hey! :-)

is the an8 an against something word?

2:24 pm

Yes, it is.

2:24 pm

Hi Une

2:24 pm

hello friends. whew, what a day!

2:24 pm

nice big grid!

2:25 pm

nice hair une. My sister managed that once by my hair is hopeless and only has one style

2:25 pm

hi triff!

2:25 pm

Hi, Trif.

2:26 pm

hi! Oh, that is some hair! Mine is currently mercury blue - the minute school was let out for the year, I dyed it

2:27 pm

ne** Trif!

I dyed mine purple but it washed out pretty fast

I dyed mine purple but it washed out pretty fast

2:27 pm

Fro growing out back in the 70s

2:27 pm

i actually don't half mind it

2:27 pm

never had the nerve

2:28 pm

i told my students that noticed on line that it was the only color they had at CAS

2:28 pm

CVS

2:28 pm

I died mine blue back in 1978. But haven't died it any color after that.

2:29 pm

dont' know as I will stick with it, but I definitely will be sticking with darker shades, even if an old standard like auburn. It perked my skin up a TON

2:29 pm

when the boy did it he used Jello

2:30 pm

granddaughter used Kool-Aid packs to streak hers.

2:30 pm

Omg LOL

2:30 pm

wish I had thought of that!

2:31 pm

I have been thinking of g oing darker, Trif. My hair used to be a dirty blonde. Now it is just faded out.

2:31 pm

my daughter wants me to just let it go white (red heads go white, not gray) but I

2:31 pm

im just not there yet

really getting hot out here, or maybe my laptop is adding to it. TTFN

2:32 pm

it really can look nice, origami! If not now, when?

2:32 pm

bye hodi

2:32 pm

hokie

2:32 pm

When the salons reopen, I guess.

2:33 pm

you wouldn't try it yourself?

2:33 pm

see you, my homie hokie hodi :D

2:33 pm

Not all, trif. I have wonderfully wiry greys. Mom went from strawberry to auburn and didn't start to grey until she was in her 70s, think Imma follow in those footsteps... my brother, however, is going a beautiful white.

2:34 pm

I would fear catastrophic results, Trif.

2:34 pm

that is encouraging, amelu!

2:36 pm

I was wishing for something larger than the 45, 79 or 58 word days that were played recently. Be careful what you with for! Fireworks and now out to garden with my pl8 hair.

2:37 pm

my son was astonished after I'd gotten out of the pool one day when I said he owned all of my grey, lol. He said 'Momma! You don't have any grey hair!' and gasped when I held my wet hair down against my scalp (I'm strawberry like mom was so I really have about 9 different colors/textures in my hair). I had to laugh out loud at him when he said 'I'm so sorry!'

2:45 pm

my family goes to dirty dishwater blond/grey

2:46 pm

tooo funny amelu!

2:46 pm

(looking for a hair-related pl8)

2:48 pm

I had many colors and still have many textures. Gone are the reds & golds but I earned and own the platinum. My daughters decided to follow my lead. My grandmother had the most beautiful white hair and smile. As a young girl I wanted to be like her, I just didn't know that it would start so early...

2:49 pm

100 words that may be it for me today

2:49 pm

If mine went white, I would be happy with it. But this blah color is just not very attractive.

2:49 pm

out of practice

2:50 pm

I am with you origami my mother went grey at about 85 but was dishwater blond from 60 on

2:50 pm

bye all. perhaps I will see you all tomorrow

2:51 pm

Bye, jmc.

2:51 pm

ha!

3:28 pm

Those who call themselves 'incels' are pro r4

I mean I guess ra_ are not an8

3:29 pm

incel = involuntarily celibate.

yeah, but I bet that's not an enable word. and why isn't an8 hyphenated?

3:29 pm

theres no definiton

3:29 pm

I guess one might take an8 measures, like carrying pepper spray...

I listened to a podcast about the woman who inadvertently started incel. crazy.

3:29 pm

but you're right, enable doesn't have it.

3:30 pm

a woman started it??? I didn't know that! I thought it was all men!

3:31 pm

gonna go read up on that. hagd!

yeah, I'm trying to find it, very interesting listen. she was trying to get single people involved in society on campus and it kinda took a life of its own

4:17 pm

getting closer, though the last 10% takes about 90% of the time :)

4:17 pm

agreed!

4:18 pm

though finding a word now seems something to celebrate

4:19 pm

i have a word from every square right now, except the lone t on the right. still working on that one lol

4:19 pm

yeah, that one is a challenging one

4:23 pm

te 6/21 a babblet, a shrew-like animal

4:25 pm

25 to go...

4:26 pm

267 lol

4:26 pm

:)

4:29 pm

309 here.

4:30 pm

welcome to the challenge nef! this is the biggest board i have seen yet

4:33 pm

finally got that te 6 from the right side. interesting....

nef!

hello again! still have 27 after the first pass through the list!

i haven't listed yet, soon, though.

4:41 pm

nice hokie!

i missed nef.was just wondering about her yesterday.

having a super hard time with the first da6/21

i ad a tick on me after mowing today. it drew blood. first time. like a little black spider, and plump. yuck

ugh ugh ugh

4:44 pm

finally greyed out the bottom t on the left! my last word was a ti6. temper tantrum lol... ofcourse

it was bloody. doctor said don't worry.

:D

4:44 pm

i only have 2 da's so far and they are both 4 letters

they don't generally attach so quickly. but it was not there when i showered this AM

and I was smiling at the ti6. yeah, I think they have to be on there for so many hours.

snail da6.32 endangered species.

but they don't generally attach so quickly. i really don't think i could have missed it.

or one who plays a pub game

it was BIG

looked it up, never seen that word in my life

4:46 pm

that gave me 2 words i didnt have yet :) thanks!

you mean ti6?

me? I was talking about da6/21

are there more than one?

yes, one more

ty

oh, now I get the clues were for the other one. I didn't know who you were talking to.

i need to think about dinner. it's getting hard to do these days.

I'm getting tired of making the same things

still have 10 p's

4:54 pm

38 left here lol... but i havent really dug into them yet. I have been knocking out some d words since the da6 was mentioned

i hear that. i miss fresh salad the most. now that salads are bagged, i cannot find things like small heads of red cabbage, etc, that keep better to make my own salads.

and i miss bananas , always.

we have still been getting bananas

I love a good sa5 when someone else makes it. never as good when I do.

4:56 pm

I have some extra spaghetti already cooked from the other night, and some eggplant in there. I am thinking about grilling up the eggplant and some chicken with balsamic and tossing the eggplant with the pasta. I miss fresh veggies the most. the eggplant is hte last of our fresh veggies. I would kill for a salad

they don't keep two weeks. i am trying ti limit my trips.

that sounds good

sounds great. hmm, i have a frozen eggplant parm. angelos. not bad.

i want to go meatless today. i find i am eating more red meat than i like to, since it's available.

4:58 pm

our freezer is just a typical one, connected to the fridge, and not really a big one, but we are pretty stocked on frozen veggies and meats for now. the meats here have been getting harder to come by and hte prices have skyrocketed

i miss fresh meat. no chicken left, only some chuck and maybe one pork chop.

same here, only the small freezer. have been trying to eat down what's there, and in the pantry.

i ate a frozen pizza for lunch the past two days just to free up space.

I think we have more meat available now that back in march. mr. hokie kept asking at the grocery then and they kept saying a truck was coming the next day and it never would.

shortages seem to track when the area was shut down. there is so much TP here now.

we have a garage fridge and basement fridge in addition to our kitchen one so pretty good space. we had a standup freezer in the garage for years but it broke before we got the basement fridge.

5:01 pm

since the meat packing plants have been closing down it has been harder. I stopped at the store last week to pick up prescriptions, and there were people arguing with the butcher over meats not available.

5:01 pm

Wow carla you could stay home for 2 years with that setup!

i find i am out of odd things.

but i have cake. thank god for the ww II cake-no butter, no eggs

and one pan

5:02 pm

I'm a veg so don't care, but my cat's Mr. Chicken so he cares a LOT

yeah, we don't use the basement fridge much, just mainly for pool parties, which are obviously not happening

ooh, do tell on the cake

google king arthur original cake pan cake.

there are several wwII ration cakes on the net.

5:03 pm

i keep a running list and every time we go to the store (about every 2 weeks) i grab some canned tomatoes and pasta, tuna, just some basics to throw something together if needed. the running list is for things I run out of during the 2 weeks, like eggs, spices, etc.

5:04 pm

i have always been one to cook, but find myself making more home made stuff that i normally would buy, like breads

i finally found ocedar sponges. took 5 weeks.

5:05 pm

what is an ocedar sponge?

i am definitely using more bread. lots of pbj for lunch

5:05 pm

i love pb and j!

o cedar brand kitchen sponge 4 pack.

bbl have fun.

i do not eat tuna. or anything cold that should be hot. like poatao or macaroni salad. or egg salad.

5:07 pm

Good evening! It's a big one today...

and very little lunch meat.

hi and bye, phan.

5:08 pm

bye, TO

5:09 pm

i have some liverwurst in there, i eat it with swiss and tomato in a sandwich, but other than that, i am not a fan of lunch meat either

5:17 pm

5:19 pm

5:19 pm

5:20 pm

it's also a noun for someone who squashes grapes into wine

5:20 pm

thanks!

5:20 pm

if htey are in the deep waer, what do they do to stay in place but still be in the water?

5:20 pm

got a phone call - the cake looks delish, TO, but I don't have espresso powder. guess I could try it without. I know the chocolate flavor will be less intense.

5:37 pm

i am looking for a pa5 word right before the capital of France, and am having a tough go at it.

5:38 pm

if you have a pa4/5 just add a vowel to that

5:38 pm

9:42 pm

Well have a good night and happy babbling all.

10:17 pm

Can I ask how your state or area is handling the virus right now?

10:17 pm

Iowa is opening up tomorrow

10:23 pm

I'm finally really impressed by our governor, Pritzger & our mayor, Lori Lightfoot. They are both listening to the science/medical people, not these jerks who are putting money ahead of lives. We are pretty much shut down til the end of this month, and also into June. They are not making any promises and are very open about that. No one knows what's going to happen, so they're playing it by ear. Lotsa updates. Lotsa deaths here. They are pulling out some hard stops for the people who are having house parties, or businesses trying to make a little unsafe profit. Better safe than dead in my book. I'm in Chicago, Illinios.

10:24 pm

They also have a fairly well thought out 'open-the-state' strategy, but again, it's play it by ear.

10:26 pm

Iowa is our neighbor, I've driven through there many times. Besides the Des Moines area, you have, what, like 8 people living in the whole state? I jest, of course. Some states will be easier to open than others, Iowa is one of them.

10:31 pm

Kizah - How are you feeling about your state opening?

10:37 pm

Kansas is still shut down,,,, opening up barber shops and salons next week,,,, no groups over 10

10:39 pm

Personally, I'm very much against the salons & barber shops. This is simple vanity, so not worth risking my life.

10:39 pm

welll,,,, its a choice I am not planning to go

10:40 pm

Yep, people have to make their own choices. Darwin never sleeps.

11:20 pm

we are finally allowed 5 visitors, family and/or close friends into our homes. also gatherings of 10 only for church services.(fortunately my church has a very small congregation), 10 for a wedding, 20 for an indoor funeral, 30 for an outdoor one. social distancing still to be observed.

11:24 pm

Right gr, here they're focusing on being very specific on all the religious stuff. This is taking precedence over salons, bars & restaurants. Meanwhile, I'll probably have my knees done before I go back to work. Part of what we do is fund raisers, so we all expect to be swamped. Have fun, raise much needed money.

11:25 pm

whoa !! helen !! both knees?? not at the same time i hope.

11:25 pm

Seems like it will require tremendous restraint to keep that distance - especially during funerals. People still need comfort.

11:26 pm

there is nothing like the touch of a caring hand or a friendly shoulder to cry on.

11:26 pm

Yep, both knees are totally shot. I have a referral to an ortho doc, but I don't want to step foot in any hospital in the near future. It will have to wait.

11:27 pm

Actually, I'm not going to change what I've been doing

11:27 pm

My BIL is an ER doc and they've had patients with the virus test negative more than a few times. He said that the tests aren't accurate, which isn't uncommon with a new virus

11:28 pm

Exactly gr. I'm actually often surprised how many of the people I know have fallen totally apart during that first hug. Like they were saving all this up for me. But I take that as a high honor.

11:28 pm

I tend to err on the side of reason so while I may see my boyfriend and have contact (ahem), the couple of friends I've seen have stayed at a distance

11:29 pm

my advice helen, and i have had one knee done. is to have one at a time. the pain is excruciating first day post-op. and i am pretty gutsy when it comes to pain. also it will be very difficult to weight-bear on both legs which is what is expected of you, day one post-op.

11:29 pm

Kizah, me either. I'm staying put at home. LOL about your bf. Just don't have a virus baby.

11:29 pm

I live in Cedar Rapids so there are thousands here and people are pretty competent. I still go see my friend, a bartender, after they close and have dinner with him, but won't go during happy hour or even later on

11:30 pm

Re: HelenKeller: I'm 50 and he's 49 so I think we're pretty safe!

11:31 pm

Note: I know that 50 isn't out of the question, but my late husband and I didn't conceive and I probably can't. I'm actually happy about it...never wanted kids!

11:31 pm

me three am perfectly happy with staying in my home. only going out for Dr's appointments.

11:31 pm

Yep, that sounds like the best advice, gr. I've had my right hip done, will be 15 years in December. Minimally invasive. Rehab was so simple. Knees, I have come to learn, are much more complicated.

11:32 pm

That's so funny Kizah!!!

11:36 pm

gr - my doc has done one video chat with me, otherwise we just e-mail. She knows me very well, knows that I provide very accurate descriptions, and gives me meds without needing to see me. Like, one of the cats just bit me - 2 punctures, one healing well, the other angry red circle around it. No problem getting the antibiotics. The only time I have to go out is to pick up a monthly prescription of one med that is a controlled substance, they won't deliver that.

11:38 pm

good practice helen. i am fortunate in that hubby is happy to go out for necessities. i have said we could have everything delivered but he says he is very carefully while out. he has a small bottle of sanitiser hanging from the strap of his bag, which he uses frequently when out.

11:40 pm

So, hubbies are good for somethings. I wouldn't know, never had one, but sure could use one, lol.

11:42 pm

*giggle* i hear you Helen. or at least a significant other which i believe is the term used, or a partner...yup, hubbies can be quite useful.

11:45 pm

Helen?? question....why did the cat bite you?

11:46 pm

gr - startle response, I was going to the powder room in the dark, she's old, but completely harmless.

11:47 pm

oh dear!! poor old thing. did she not hear you?

11:49 pm

Must have been sleeping very soundly. She's very sweet really.
