Loved Horton Hears a Who.
Fireworks!
... well done ... now go read a Dr. Suess book ... you deserve a proper chuckle ...
I think we had the whole collection when we were kids. We never lacked for books. I was a big reader. My brother? Not so much.
... was looking for stuff in the basement last week ... found we've still got three or four Suess books ... but the kids all live in the city
The whole building got professionally sanitized over the weekend. One of the officers caught a cold. I'm sure the Chief was not happy.
People are making a fortune "sanitizing"
Classics that never get old, Dose. Worth handing down to some lucky kid(s).
Off to do some work. See y'all tomorrow! *POOF*

any clues for the other 7? i have the st 7
SA7 clued at 8:55
why isnt eeny meeny miney mo in dictionary?? things like aah are there so i dont get it. eeny and meeny should be there.

ty looking.
doseffing i dont get the second three. a form of no. hmmm. is it canadian perhaps?
... no it isn't ... common or used to be common form used in response to a question most often ... so common I almost typed it to give a response to your question ...
... rhymes with what you tie stuff up with
I loved the cgi movie of Horton hears a who
mkg I cant figure it out eihter
the clue is below.. let's work with that
... do you have the two sa4/4s? ... then you know the first three letters because it comes between
s that no 5/22?
is
i know the first 3 letters
... the final three letters are the first three of a four letter word which rhymes with what you tie things up with and means "no"
double consonant in the middle of the word....
Think the word has been virtually spelt out
does it end in y?
i agree.. it's like overkill her a lot
no...
... that's the problem with cluing highly unusual and rare words that nobody has ever heard of or will ever hear of until it shows up here again
i will figure it out ty
wtg mlf
I think one clue is enough. Last week a word was clued for someone 10 times. Talk about overkill.
Could I have the stats for the e in the last column please?
em5 and 6
em 5/14 and em 6/24....combo...
Thanks, got them
the trick ini this grid is to plural everything
That seems to be "the trick" in every grid that has an S : D
especially this one smarty pants :D
I suppose this grid "has teeth" too : P
Finally figured out the SA 6... you can lead a horse... LOL
gotta get dressed to go shopping.. i'm out of everything after the weekend
I opened the chat from earlier and figured it out from that clue
bravo mlf
i really think that too many clues just add to confusion for the person trying to find the word
agreed
Yes, people don't need to keep cluing and cluing until someone gets it. Give people time to think about it.
morning all
hey mool
happy tuesday ru...how's things in the wild west this morning?
hot weather... 98 here today
good morning
hi ori
wow, hot indeed
were you able to close your doors finally?
howdy. just checking in to see if any words pop out before heading to lowe's.
Forecast here is 104
98 my goodness! and hello friends
yikes
Yes, I shut them almost all the way. Thank goodness! It was hot in here.
Ugh too hot..
i have to drive a lot today too.. ugh
so annoyed, can't start painting because I can't find the spackle (spackling?) or my brushes anywhere. I know mr. homie has left them at a rental house.
72 and cloudy here right now, only supposed to reach 75
bummer ru
Something tells me Mr. Homie is going to get an earful later
Is business back up ru?
i feel you, hokie - that kind of thing makes me want to punch a kitten. in the face.
76 and rainy here
I have my own tool bag that no one is allowed to use any of my tools because they can't take care of stuff
77 and sunny here, so not bad
62 and sunny here....going to be much hotter in other parts of the state....
it is supposed to hit 80 here today, and of course I am swamped with work, other than this babble break....bit chilly at the moment, but I am sitting in the shade
Does it say CARLA'S TOOLBAG - DON'T TOUCH
Are you right on the ocean, pen?
mr. homie already went to lowe's this morning because he is at a rental house painting a fence but I didn't know then the spackle was missing
hokie are you ready for the cicada's?
no, molly, but it is purple and most of the tools are pink. it's a pretty good deterrent in a house full of males
Oh yeah, no self-respecting y-chromo wants to use pink tools
though, the oldest did ask to borrow some last week, because of course he can't find anything out in his dad's stuff.
apparently they do, molly, hence the missing bag
hi trif
hi mool
hey ML
hello mlf gotta go to my 8 millionth zoom meeting in a minute - ugh
mlfan, I haven't looked at the cicada map so didn't know we were in the zone. we had some outliers last summer.
I have to figure out how to put one of those backgrounds up in zoom.
Oh I thought it was Spackle and brushes that were missing, not the whole tool bag.
trif, the paint stuff was in a cardboard box. he did reorg the basement during isolation, but that box must not have been here.
you are correct, molly
hokie they are supposed to come soon and stay until some time in july. NC WV TEN and VA
trif that's no fun
yeah, my bro in SWVA/NETN area was talking about them there
wow, what a bummer hokie.
I did at least find the ceiling paint that we had looked for a couple of weeks ago when we discovered a leak in the kitchen ceiling
students have SO checked out. I am really unhappy with how my district decided to proceed. Classes are now credit/no credit, instead of letter grades. SO many kids have figured out that, numerically speaking, they don't need to do one other bit of work. If they had a 90 or better for an average, they can just walk away now.
trif that is so ridiculous
yeah, I think we have, you get the grade you had in March and can only go higher if you do the work
My son is a rising senior, so he only has one class still going that isn't AP or comm. coll.
Trif, agree with you. How are these kids going to be ready for the next grade?
there is no way to win here. Decisions had to be made. I am grateful for all time that i was not on any of the deciding boards - it was impossible. No matter what is chosen, someone is vexed.
but he had all a's then so hasn't done a whole lot of work
next fall, same deal - we open as usual, people will be angry. we open with all sorts of restrictions and distancing, people are angry. We have sports and drama, people are angry. we don't, people are angry.
yeah, never happened before so they had nothing to go on, and no one is ever happy with a choice
trif damned if you do damned if you don't?
damned.
exactly
trif, our county arranged graduation to be at the nascar speedway. sounded so cool, mr. homie and I were wishing our son was graduating, esp. after we sat through the traditional one last year. But you would be amazed at the complaints I've seen about it.
hokie that would have been awesome!
ugh, just discovered my russian ruler! always miss that.
I would have been, hokie, but now nothing amazes me anymore. People are not exactly rising to the occasions, are they?
oooh, thanks hokie! I missed Nicholas as well!
if I am being honest, I have checked out of some stuff as well. I know, from 54 years of experience, that I do NOT need to factor polynomials in order to live a happy life. Totally skipping that one.
trif factor what?
polynomials
back to finish. got that sa 6 7. ty. totally didnt see the last three letters so ty for that further clue about the word for "no"........ty
off for a long walk. it is gorgeous here.
trif what are they?
fan, they are equations with a variable raised to some positive power.
ok, have procrastinated trip to Lowe's long enough. now have 25 for later.
Hope it is not a mob scene, hokie.
bye hokie
When math starts using things like (2x)² it loses me quickly

an 6/39 is a word you use when you are ready to change the subject
Thanks Kitty - not sure why I could not see that
yw
So, is there an an 6/37 as well?
no
ok
Hello all. I have done my first pass of the board and am ready to look at my ironing board. I bought a new iron which is lighter and better than my old one which wanted to burn its plastic. Have lovely days as we shall here in Greater Western Washington.
have fun Stidgmere :)
Also, I have the Royal Scone recipe. There is a tea party in my future.
ho5 12 clue please
... sounds like a province of China ... or "hello grandmother" ...
That sounds lovely Stidgmere!
ty doseffing ..
... most welcome
made it back from lowe's. decided to get some more veggie plants while I was there. a ton of cars in the parking lot but didn't seem too crazy inside. way more people there in masks than when I went to the grocery store last.
When I thought about going into Home Depot the other day it was a madhouse and nobody was wearing masks. Just nuts. I didn't go in.
I only saw one worker not wearing one
ooh, just found an animal I'd missed
well, back to work. now down to 19
any help with the st7 (32) please
well, since Im not gone yet, I have one that is plural for like st6 of hair
Brilliant - thanks hokie - I'm looking but not seeing
or if someone leaves you by the side of the road
Got it thanks
np. really leaving now, found 2 more.
We have mandatory mask wearing here. They won't wait on you if you are not wearing a mask.
can I get a hint for the ps 5/12 please?
I still laugh when I see lone drivers in cars wearing masks. People are getting a little carried away with things.
ps - 3 vowels
string together all vowels after hte first two letters
They do realize they wear masks to prevent others from getting sick, right?
can I have a clue for the first 206/18?
so 6/18*
Not daughter + picnic pest
thank you!!!!! that was driving me crazy
We have a lot of people around here who don't understand English. I think they may believe they have to wear a mask anywhere but home.
ah, there's the other 7
fyi: This is what the CDC is saying: Everyone wears masks, all the time, everywhere but home. People can think what they want, but Darwin never sleeps.
Thanks for the clues, babblers.
hello again. I also think it's funny to see people wearing them in their cars, but I have done it just to keep me from touching my face before I get home, so it's possible that's what's going on.
I am a lost cause when it comes to touching my face.
Another thing - just because people do not speak English, does not make them stupider than roadkill. Really??? Pretty sure almost everyone in the world is now familiar with a pandemic. Info is readily available in any language. Racist much?
Who said they were stupid? All I said was that maybe they don't understand the mandates in my area.
wow, sensitive much?
Molly - you did. You implied because they don't speak English, they must not understand. Actually you didn't imply that, that's exactly what you said.
And yes carla, as one who was born here, but raised to speak a foreign language, you bet I'm sensitive. And I will call anyone out on it, every time.
Fear makes people say/do crazy things. Even people in dire need of medical attention are delaying or refusing to go to hospitals now. I've often had to bite my tongue while trying to be patient/understanding.
I don't bite my tongue. Also, Molly, just because people don't speak English, doesn't mean they don't understand it, or can't speak it. They just won't do so in front of you - for fear you would laugh at them. This is true for most "non-English" speakers in this country.
Has the sa6/7 been clued?
sa6/7 - uses double consonant in the middle
ty.
Ah 4/7 Babble Mates!I st 5/10ed to babble earlier this morning.I have 3 words left so here is a story of clues. After finding over 70 words by myself,I asked monkeys for help. They were an5/14ing when they laughed like hy 6/27 and said "You expect us to spend a nice sunny day inside babbling? No5/22! We are spending the day outside in the sunshine. All of my monkeys, except for my most loyal monkey named Je5/24 da4/5ed out the door to go swimming in the po 4/6. I thanked Je 5/24 for staying to help. However she said, "Sorry, I have a hot date with my ho5/16 today. as she drove off in my Ho5/14. I thought "Well ho4/9 that for loyalty?" At the end of the day all of my monkeys returned. They tried to make am4/6s. They apologized for not helping. Was so angry I went on a huge ra 4/4. I told them the only reason why they were trying to made ame5/15 was so I would give them bananas & so 4/5, their daily snack. I told my monkeys to go back outside and put heads in sa 4/5 before I pull out every single st 6/21 of monkey hair. Then they st 4/4ted to cry. They said, "we are so sorry for our tr5/10gression today!" But they could not sw4/10 me to give them bananas. This en4/5 my story. I did not em 5/14 story so there may be some errors. Well I sure enjoyed it Min! Thank you :)
I always enjoy Min's stories
I don't know how you manage to come up withthe stories -- I don't have the imagination for something like that.
how is it that the manufacturer of our cvr isn't a proper noun?
*crv - dyslexia kicking in again
Min, you and your stories are always a pleasure.
That word has another meaning Nan
And TIL that the sa 6/7 combo is the word for "a married male American Indian" and I doubt I'll ever have occasion to use it again except maybe in a future grid. Or maybe at a pow wow?
yes - l looked at the def
*!*~*!* hagd everyone - don't pick up any masked bandits :)
the CRV manufacturer's name is also the name of the "eye" of a lariat (the part that allows it to tighten around a steer's neck or limb)
Fw!!
can someone give me a hint on the an 5/10?
not sure if you know British lingo but there it means 'beside'
