My pleasure.
May I please have a clue for st 8-45? Thanks
st8/45 - ends like a made-up story after the first two letters,
Thank you!
Thanks much, Jacula....I'm sitting here with my mind somewhere in the universe. I probably should come back later in the day.
Oh, my goodness....I finally got it. Thanks again.
gm, anyone here? if so, may please I have a clue for the first re6/18?
To make money again
she had to re6.18 the respect of others after being caught in a crime
thank you! >*)))<<
fw - fun grid today! a
whoops.. time to get some coffee. Happy Babbling.
Things like that are why I don't do anything "before coffee". : D
Have you had your Thanksgiving dinner yet, Molly?
Last night. It was good. I really should make stuffing more often. I love it.
Did you do a whole bird?
No, just a breast.
I'm going to get on soon, I hope. Can't find them here readily yet.
We had creamed baby new potatoes and peas for dinner last night. They were so good.
I love fresh new potatoes. Nothing like them.
I've got some bigger ones to fix tonight. Not sure how I will prep them.
When my parents lived in Delaware, there was a farm down the street with a market. One of the first things we would do is stop there for fresh new potatoes, green beans and corn. Good eating.
We grew all that on our acerage when I was a kid. Summer meals were the best!
Speaking of corn, it is a total pain that you can't shuck it in the store anymore. I am so sick of these virus restrictions.
Oh lucky you Bea, growing up on a farm. I bet summer meals were the best.
our first new potatoes are Jersey Royal. They have a taste all of their own. They are amazing
Can you pull the husk down to see what the corn looks like?
corn on the cob, mmmmm
Oh yeah, you can pull the husk down. It was just so much easier to get it shucked in the store. And then you don't have to load up the trash at home with the husks.
Previous to this COVID crap, the only time I brought home unshucked corn was when I make a corn dolly out of the husks in the Fall. (It's a Pagan thing)
I agree bichon
Today is National Chocolate ice cream Day!
I bring the shucks home for use in the compost
only the shucks ? you are not eating the corn on the cob?
I doubt she brings the husks home and leaves the corn at the store.
sorry, my ad
*shakes head*
The bar is open.
*bad
I'll take a double.
that's true

Bea has found her clues
Just stats. No clues.
Unless its Spanish.
I'm going to have to start drinking doubles if we are going to talk about the Spanish estate again
Not me! LOL!
Didn't even try on that one, did she?
Did you notice the th5 is almost in the grid...?
that was an interesting stance to take on clues
hi ata
bzz pb for you no5
I mean no6
hello :)
Afternoon all
im running babble expert, can you tell me how i open the clues in the same window ?
Put your cursor on the edge of the screen and pull to the right?
whoa, i dont know how to do that. are we talking lickety clues?
I believe so
edge of my screen and pull right does nothing
nope nothing happens. i am on a mac air. edge of screen does nothing
I don't know about mac.
it highlites everything
Babble expert doesn't work on a Mac, I thought
ok that explains it
I don't think you can use Babble Expert on a Mac
ok.
i have to manually put in every word into lickety.
You can do the copy and paste. Babble Expert is a little programme that works on a PC but not a Mac which makes life easier, but it a mac version was never developed
You can copy your list though and paste it into the box at the bottom of lickety
or get something else besides a Mac
I think buying a whole new computer to play Babble is perhaps a wee bit over the top :D
Depends on how obsessively you want to Babble Expert
be cheaper to get someone to take the code over to macs :)
I use Lickety every day on my Mac, which can't use Expert. I open a separate window for Lickety, reduce it to a narrow panel and put it on the left side of the screen, with Babble open in a window to the right, but not full screen, so I can see the list as I play. To begin, I copy and paste all my words from Babble to Lickety's Bulk Grab box, click Add Bulk, then go back to the top of Lickety and work on the words I missed. Not quite as interactive as Expert, but it works. If I get confused, I just copy the words again to fill in the ones I have so I can see clearly what's missing.
Sorry, meant Bull Add box.
I actually helped Lickety develop Expert back when I had a Windows machine. Ironic that I can't use it now.
You can't develop for a Mac, Sam?
No. I'm not a developer or a coder. I beta tested for Lickety. I'm just a user. So I'm not useless...
=)
If you installed Parallels on a Mac you could run Windows and use Expert. But that costs money.
hello...may I corner R stats pls
re6.18
re 6/27
ty
Believe it or not, there are people who don't understand the concept of tab browsing (having several internet tabs open at once) I used to try and explain it to Ruby, but she never got it.
good morning all
I'd be lost without tabs...
I hate backwards words!
thank you BZZ
Ruby had it in her head that in order to check her email, she would have to close out of Babble. I tried many ways to explain tabs, but it is really something that you need to show someone.
Finally found my last word...thought it was a phantom..Need a drink for that one!
Cheers!
stats for the i's please? not finding anything
greek letter...
sorry should have given you the stats....
also ic 5/12....

See you all tomorrow.

Bea knocks off another one. I think she is Super Woman. She has time to finish these grids, take care of her family, take care of her community and make beautiful quilts.

ac 8 please?
have the paint remover before it
a + anagram for grain that comes with Chinese food + consumed food
It means convert iron into steel, if that means anything to you or you want to look it up by definition
ty molly - another new one for me
Oh never mind looking up the definition. All you get is smelt
fa 8 please?
could never figure out why people feel the need to replace perfectly understandable words with a new one that nobody understands
do they think they are making themselves sound smarter?
That is my take on it.
The fa8 is the fa5 with three vowels at the end
The fa5 that is a gem surface
have the 5 and 6
molly is Iit a 5/18/
me too
got it - ty molly
5 r's left
It is the one that means a gem surface
*!*~*!* thanks for the help and thanks to lickety

ok.. i need help with the re6/27? i'm lost
oh i found it
clue ruru....?
nvm
Ah, to redo Santa's landing strip
i never fell for the Santa thing
no fat guy was going to get down our chimney
Oh I fell for it hard. And all the fairy tales. Therefore being very disappointed when the reality of adulthood hit.
having a cynical older brother helped a lot too
One of the family photographs that made it through the years is me, age 5, sitting on Santa's lap. That gets trotted out at the holiday time.
Why have I always thought your brother was younger? Maybe because you are the more mature and you did all that cooking when you were younger.
My neighbor had a Christmas party with Santa handing out gifts. My daughter was 13 months old and I told my neighbor not to make her sit on Santa's lap. My neighbor thought she knew better - bottom line my daughter threw up on Santa's lap - not a good photo op.
Oh, I think that is a classic holiday photo. : D
my brother is 4 years older than me and can't even make jello.. he's hopeless in the kitchen
fortunately he married a woman who can cook
that's funny cig
When she was 3 she wanted to dress up as Santa for Halloween. I took her red long johns, black rain boots, a paper plate with cotton balls glued on and she was a cute little Santa.
now halloween i was all in on as a kid
I feel sorry for present day kids. Halloween is not nearly as fun as it was when we were kids.
true very true
it's still fun in my neighborhood as the little kids are abundant
it is still fun for them.
many come with homemade costumes that are very clever and cute
i better get a move on.. have to prepare dinner for my petsitters and exercise and clean house..
Homemade costumes are the best. Now costumes came out for movies immediately. Same daughter year of the first Ewok movie. She wanted to be an Ewok! I dyed her footed pj's, made additional Ewok feet, head cover with feathers and string, and a wooden spear with a sponge carved to be the spear. It's always fun to see what you can make.
hi all. help with the E in 4th column, not seeing anything
lovely day here
pretty easy e peri.. look a bit harder
ok
bye
yea found one of those Es
and another
I love the clever Halloween costumes. Those kids get extra candy from me.

no worries just keep them coming:)
Tough indeed, Peri!
55 to go....

One f left time to go through the chat room
St8?
st8 sounds like fi 7, 44
Don't have fi7 :-(
fi 7 - non-fi book
there's a fa 7 that ends the same way
Got it!
Have both :-)
:)
name that proper noun! wonderland explorer
alice
ding ding ding!!!
My mother's name.
one of my all-time favorite books
Go Ask Alice
When she's ten feet tall
I think I'd rather talk to her when she's small!
She got smaller, and smaller, till at last she was just the size of a little doll!
i have most of the 9s, but no 8s. anyone want to nudge me?
just sat back down here, no 8's and what 9's are you referring to?
lol i meant i have most of the 7s
finger went rogue on me
Es Eliminated!
I still have like 89 left ,so miles to go before I sleep
np :)
no blowfish here
yeah
well, got the list instead, and first 8 is ac8 and it's weird.
fa8, also a bit nutty
a's are always weird
not factoid
no, you have to add 3 vowels to the end of an fa5
ra7/8 combo is also weird
and another ra8 is also weird
st8, also weird. no normal 8s.
the end
:D
Is there anything normal about Babble?
most big words are weird to me :D
ooh, just finished of the H
so I guess no to the spanish no6
Well at least it is not the Spanish estate, which provided a laughable clue request and "I don't get it" yesterday.
well, I was here for part of it and everyone kept saying ranch and then all the versions of ranch. at least estate seems more likely to be estancia
I guess enable predates roofies
Sometimes a clue just makes sense to you, for no valid reason. You never know what's going to help someone.
I can only find 1 e in the 4th col. what the heck
got one more
and 2 more.
now just need one there. just had to talk about it here to be able to see them.
have finally achieved half on each tile. well, except the highest i, but can't get half of 1.
ooh, just found that because I typed here
That one took me forever...then I felt stupid! ;)
yep
I had already tried this morning
Me too. Found it after lunch. Pretty sure my lovely martini helped...
:D
So what IS st8????
Have ac8 and ra8......
I only found the fa8 when hurshy was going through them.
Clue?
witty remarks, noun version of "being fa*" adj version
looks like latin plural of noun
hi all. I now have an AC in my living room. It is from a friend. It is old but still works. While I am very grateful to have it I miss the lovely breeze that used to come in from that window. They brought it over and put it in the window for me.
Now I need someone to put the AC in the bedroom window
I really do not like to ask people for help but it is not something I can do by myself Think I will ask my neighbor across the hall
are you in a house? I know you rent just don't rem. hearing what type of building.
not liking this grid and not sure I will finish
Tx Carla
I am in an apartment in a house
how about ac & ra clues, une?
So having the air conditioner in the window blocks your ability for fresh air. Sad trade.
ah, I see
many years ago it was a single home.
do you have ac7?
I get it Peri. I don't like asking people for help either.
yes Molly, I do have another window though but it is not the same and I much prefer fresh air.
when I was growing up we did not have AC and eventually got window units and now my parents have a heat pump. not sure how we survived. well, we did spend time in the cooler basement.
I have ceiling and floor fans an they are fine most of the time. But then there are those days and nights were it is unbearably humid
I do have an ac7. wasn't sure the 8 was related because what I tried didn't work.
not related but it ends in past tense of to ingest food
ok, will try to figure that out, thx
Ra8 sweet liqueur
hurshy wasn't kidding, these are weird. and I'm still looking :D
not seeing that ra8
ra & Mickey Mouse was a car**** & then make that word a person (end)
I found it in morewords. there is also another ra8
The other ra8......, middle is like stretchy candy
TY I'll look
TY Une

Could I please have a clue for the ra 7/28?

Ah, thank you lynx. I thought I had tried that 6, but didn't have it.
I have found all of the nonsensical 8's.

i'm okay. PEA, a new med for FM is working rather well. now waiting for workcover approval for a nerve stimulator implant. don has asthma probs. ever since we flew to QLD in Feb. some days are better than others.
Doesn't sound pleasant for either of you. Did the asthma appear out of nowhere - I mean, he's never had it before?
But good that the new FM med is working for you.
he is a chronic asthmatic. planes seem to trigger it. something to do with the A/C on board. we did find saline nasal spray during flight did help with the severity i.e. reduced it. ut on the short hop to QLD he didn't bother. and we are still paying for that.
Ah well! Hopefully if and when borders are reopened and you ever decide to fly again, you won't make that mistake. I've only reacted like that on a plane once - that was on a really long flight to LA. My allergies went crazy!
Really struggling with my last word. The first re 6. Can someone please lend me a clue?
To get money again for a job done.
I'm struggling on my last one - te 6, the last one
Good grief. Babble blindness! Thanks Liz.

hmm.. stick to the right side. and it sounds like it involves oxygen?
nope.. has to do with steel! Who'd a thunk?
well I know how it starts and ends, I am having major issues with what is between...

Helps if you know the French word for steel.

that sounds scary GR

i could mate. looking at small ones which are light weight and can fold up, to go in the back of the car.
Hello rururocks! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
I am sorry grannyrose. I should not be complaining about my allergies compared to the pain you are going through.
aww min. if you can't have your say so here where can you? i know how absolutely ugly you must feel. i hate it when my allergies get going.

Hello Book Doctor Gwen! How are you? Welcome to chog.
Hello nava and Nancy! How are you guys?Welcome to grid
Hi Min, finished hours ago just checking the chat
Nancy,I was thinking the same thing. I have not seen Stid here in a very long time. So grannyrose, what happened?
doing fine, all things considered -- although this grid is kicking my ass
not an easy grid for sure
yes, stidgemere was here recently, but I haven't seen stid in quite a long time...
last I knew she was teaching and everything was good.

Yes, that is what I thought too. I have seen stidgmere too
However, I did not see her say anything about stidmama.
right-- hope she's OK...
where is granny. we need answers
she disappeared...
grannyrose is no longer online.I'm worried about stid now
Maybe at the flip she'll reappear...
worried too
I see she disappeared but she usually comes on at the flip. hopefully I will see when she is here again and I will enquire about stidmana.
