ba 7-8
nice. thanks.
yw - still looking for the be 7 though
ah - found it
le7
I'm not proud of the le7, for the record
keep to the right then freep
I'm not sure that le 7 is a real word
there used to be a reason we have the words more and most
I tried it cuz I'm sure at some point it was used.
Clues are up
thanks, lickety
nettly
sorry
*high five GR*
I've been called worse :-)
lolll thanx ruru
ty rose -- didn't have that
*crawls into PB* any choccies??

oh good thanx nan
chocolate doesn't last long in there
<looks around here. mulls trying to get sent to penalty box>
not happy over here. i guess y'all have seen we have started a second wave? i am in lockdown for another 6 weeks. barely made it out after the last one.
we are having a second wave too
I thought the U.S. was still neck-deep in the first wave
we declined here and then the tourists started showing up
that depends on who you listen to I guess, Gillie
We're kinda doing the wave like at a sporting event - it moves from place to place....
I'm afraid they county I live in is headed backwards as well. We were recently opened to what they called Phase 3, on step from complete reopening of everything with no restrictions. The positive cases are rising daily because we are inundated by travelers from areas still in a phase 1 or 2 situation as well as people who refuse to follow the mask wearing guidelines. Hubby and I are self quarantining to keep ourselves safe.
just over 3 weeks ago w had a lot of protesters out, marching etc with no PPE in sight. not one person in authority will call it that they are the ones who started the second wave. of course, all who are currently infected are totally innocent of attending the protests. *snort*
we're stil doing well -- just hope the borders stay closed
ne7/8
Thanks, jessmom
good one - ty jessmom

sweet dreams to you as well ruru
or did you mean you have to finish the grid tonight?
by7 by the way
i need to finish this thing
and I'm not proud of this one either.
This grid is NSWF
i thought that was a great find freep
last grid was really nasty
thanks, ursh. It was a good find... but I don't think I've ever seen it used
spelled differently to what i would spell it.
yeah
we leave out the first vowel. word is for local council rules
ok... thanks.. i'm heading to bed
take care everyone
now i can say it.. sweet dreams ruru
g'night. And I hope you have a good, big day tomorrow!
today is our 16th wedding anniversary. longest period Don has been married, and the longest time i have been in a happy relationship. although my first marriage lasted 17 years, the last 8 were pretty rocky.
Happy anniversary!
thanx freep. and because of cv-19 guess where we are having our celebration.
Home. But the official gift of the 16th anniversary is 'disease free air' so it makes sense....
we do have a restaurant just down the road from us. italian cuisine. yummy food. so i think we will be ordering in...
Yum
loll... did you just make that up ?? very funny...
I did. It's probably "porcelain" or something utterly impractical....
Happy Anniversary, GR. hello freep
<waves>
good grief. just checked..porcelain is for the 18th.
ha
I was close!
{{{{{{{stiddy}}}}}}}}
I wonder if there's a couple anywhere who's followed those guidelines and gifted every year based on them....
"Happy 18th anniversary. I got you... a new toilet!!!!!"
just googled it freep, it's wax, so get those candles out...
Wax!?!?!?!? Ha
hello MOVIEMAN!!!! *bounce bounce* long time. are you well??
Absolutely fine n' dandy here...
yo MM how are you?
hmm I have high hopes for our 50th on 18 July
oh...don't pay me no nevermind....just a tad slow
I would like a gold plated new kindle
too much wine in the PB for you, grannyrose
Pretty good granny, just waiting for the picturehouses to reopen...
geez, urshy....50 !!... wow ! you rock !!
MM, we nearly got to the opening of the cinemas. *sigh*
I think on the 50th you should definitely follow the guidelines. Unless it changed to "special wax' or something
or ear wax.... ewww
Ear wax - the gift that keeps on giving, I tell ya....
hmmm the gemstone for 16th is a peridot. just saw some very pretty things on-line. i didn't realise peridot was such a pretty colour. i can go with it.
FREEP !!! don't you dare.... rofloll
tell me MM... do you collect DVD's and/or bluerays?
LOL ursh -- that would be a lovely 50th present!
yes i do granny, especially blu-rays...have over 500 in my collection
Got a cute whatsapp yesterday showing the countries worst hit by Covid and the countries who had dealt with it the best - photos attached of leaders - worst countries - all men - best countries - all women - so maybe they say where men keep their brains is actually true :)
And also, I have seen nearly 650 films at the cinema
That's a lot of plastic discs movieman. :-) We used to have quite a few, but since the fire in 2013 Tom prefers to get digital (downloadable) versions and store them in the cloud.
Sure, Ursh, sure. And next you're gonna tell me that ear wax ISN'T a good anniversary gift....
I tend to download as well, just as a backup...
good. there must be nearly 1000 in my tv room. now to find a way to smuggle them out to the car and into the post office. i don't think he'll miss them
This summer we are going through the entire marvel universe (including TV shows) and if there's time at the end LOTR. :-) I feel a need for serious escapism and heros.
Ah. Now just past halfway and NBT NBS. Heading to sleepy-bye land. Have a lovely end to your week all. So glad I got to "see" you tonight! *leaves choclits in penalty box in case anyone needs a few* *poof*
MM, you and himself would get along famously. he just loves his movies.particularly the oldies. i think he has just about all of Hitchcocks, and quite a few silent ones too.
*from the PB* ta stiddy....
and changing subjects... FW (with an assist from the list for the last few, including a 4 I don't believe I've ever seen)
I love the classics too, especially The Third Man, Citizen Kane, Psycho etc
WTG JUSTAFREEP !!!
I keep The Third Man on my shelf marked "movies with zither based soundtracks." It's lonely.
are there any others i wonder?
I use a website called Film Aficionado to keep track of my Blu-Rays
ahhh... i wouldn't know about DH's habits on that score.
Grannyrose - I'm gonna go with "no" though it probably pops up in moments? Maybe?
okay i have a problem. do i go seafood and have garlic prawns or a seafood crepe, or have BBQ ribs and salad or porterhouse steak with chips and salad? i could have pasta but lite n easy (our meals provider) has several pasta dishes. hmmmm...
yeah freep. i googled it and only the Third Man came up.
mind you, we could order one of their pasta dishes and freeze it for a night when we need a quick meal. i love pasta. i would make a very good Italian citizen
time to go. will leave you all here, salivating over the possibilities of my celebratory dinner. babble happily dear friends. stay safe and stay well please. i need you all in my life. xx
seeya, granny...
I'm late on this, grannyrose, but always go for the ribs (cuz you'd probably not make them at home whereas you'd make pasta). But mostly... order whatever and celebrate!
wow i got at 8.
not bad today, down to 12 no list, 8's easy
only the ba7/8 was clued and I not seeit
phantom waffles today
I just got it, if you still need it.

soba should definitely be a word by now
tried that
'morning, everyone
morning, welki
i'd venture to say that only a few of us were around when the peter, paul and mary song came out ... oh, st**ball was a racehorse, i wish he was mine...he never drank water, he only drank wine..." everybody sing!
LOL, don't think I've ever heard that, but I have heard of PP&M
it's ridiculous, the volume of song lyrics this old head has retained
mr. homie and I have been playing super mario bros. this week on a nintendo classic and we were laughing at how we remembered hidden items that we learned over 30 years ago.
we've kept all our old consoles - i want to set them up in a 'game room' when we're both retired
that sounds awesome. we have a lot of old ones, but nothing before PS2
we still have a couple of gameboys, too
I was playing my game boy last night!
our kids loved all those games - it'd be hilarious to see the grands playing such 'primitive' platforms
it's so hard to play though without any backlight. I had a clip on light with it but battery acid messed that up years ago
(the girls bought me a nintendo switch for my birthday)
i still have that little plug in light
my oldest son talked his brother into buying a switch together last year. he says it's the best system ever.
and it works!
nice!
it's sure more handy than the DS models
my game boy is purple but I bought a clear one at a consignment sale when my boys were little so we'd have 2. it's interesting to see the guts inside.
my oldest gameboy is clear purple - same one?
and then there's a silver one that folds in half - can't remember the model name
I was just thinking yesterday when I put it in my pocket how much handier it is than DS, but my boys preferred their DS's because of Pokemon.
no, my purple one is just purple, and then I have a clear one
It's interesting to hear what people are resorting to for entertainment during the virus situation. Will croquet make a comeback? : D
we don't have a good croquet area here. maybe in the back, but it gets pretty swampy back there. we played croquet all the time when I was a kid.
bottom row finished! :D
i'm stuck at 28
i have a yellow game boy pokect yes i am that old lol
still have 48 left
you're just a smidge older than me M3. same age as my husband.
I remember playing tetris on my game boy in college so much that when I closed my eyes to go to sleep I was playing it in my head
hehe, wow i played for days, every one asked me to pack their car boots when moving etc im so good at getting the max out of spaces. :)
sounds familiar :D
yep
I wonder about my husband when he loads the dishwasher. I'm like, did you never play tetris?
"your never get that all in there " i say "leave me to it" ta daaa :)
that's us with the refrigerator after shopping or with leftovers
well, now I have 46 left but gotta go. BBL.
oh man, just type in nonsense and it'll take
later, hokie - thanks for the memories :)

good morning everyone :)

I am still typing in made up words for tiles that I have finished
stuck at 16 left. time to peruse the chat.
Cute icon Nan. If only it were true. : D
well, found 2 oddly spelled ones from the chat, so now stuck at 14 left.
molly, maybe you are a mind reader and can guess my missing F? :D

I have one fl6 that is a plural
6/33
not that one
am missing one 7, any F7?
how's your grid going, harry?
just started - it's fun so far
i feel like i must be missing something ... working on B
yeah, not bad today
B was very slow for me, hurshy - still missing 4
I'm only on the third row - lots of 6 and 7 popping up :)
missing 7 of them here
I still need 1 7 and 1 8. wondering if they are a combo.
oh i haven't got any of those yet
since i'm only in the 2nd row
ba7/8 was clued when I got here this morning so that was easy
I have grayed out 1st, 4th, and 5th rows, so it's good you're working on 2 ;)
aha found those, thanks hokie
safe
wow, did not see that, thx, beth!
Oops, sorry. I'm not sure how I ended up in the chog.

I don't think so
can i have another clue for the SA 6 please
did you see mine M3? "speak sa6 and carry a big stick"
it's the FUNNIEST clue
it's a tool that cuts through wood and stuff and a bug
yeah sorry hun i need another,
sa6 tool that cuts wood + what you do in a plane
it is FUNNY, but changes the sound at the end of the word so may be confusing
Molly thank you > Hursy rofl
Hurshy is her own biggest fan
sl 6 please
*ponders whether that is true*
okay, my missing s's were both plural 4's, one easy, one I've never seen
the most sneaky, M3
sl6 is the most like a fox
ty i had the st around the wrong way
ok those by words are... i mean... putting an e in that... seems ... sketch
agreed, and one of my missing a's was a 4 that looks like a misspelling of a michael crichton movie set deep in the ocean
omg, really struggled even with the list for my last a, and it's a legit word
ab6 you mean?
yep
very twisty
my missing A words weren't fishy but two of my B words were
struggling right now with ba5/26
nm

I should just start adding letters in to words every day
2 B's left

oh that's the one i was cluing for you!
'cept i went with a different meaning
yeah, thought so after the fact, but wasn't getting it and now I can't rem. what your clue was.
if you had said mountain climbing I might have seen it :D
well it's cause i am a trekkie
"be5 that order" comes to mind more than mtn climbing for me
ah, did you work in a restaurant?
oh, just saw trekkie
thought you were saying it was a restaurant thing
not a trekkie here
haha

anyone here who feels like chatting? i'm not handling this second lockdown very well.
FLOSEY!!. FLOSEY !!. i see you are logged in. i don't understand why your wall of silence honey. please help me to understand .
hi rose1
hi TO. was about to leave. thank heavens you showed up. how are you doing?
me. sick of all this.
meh.
we had a tropical sotrm land off the coast rained all day, the basement is a mess.
you?
ditto. i'm pretty teary most of the time. my physio is putting in the paperwork for a government funded support service for those adversely affected by cv-19.
did you have it?
i am trying to maintain the status quo, so to speak. i get up even when i don't want to. i shower even though i don't want to. i change my clothes every day, when i don't really care.
no, i didn't have cv-19. but the isolation is pulling me down. i cannot exerise the way i was. so physically i am going backwards.
i know.
are you alone?
it's been so horrible. every little cough is omg is this it? every slightly scratchy throat is omg is this it. it's like sitting on a very thin fence.with an abyss on both sides.
Grannyrose, do you have people you can reach out to by phone? Can you see people online through like facebook calls?
These are incredibly hard times for those of us who live alone.
i have DH. but he has shut down too. he very rarely speaks to me.
I'm so sorry. That's almost like living alone. Do you have other family? Friends near or far?
I'm a lurker mostly so I don't really "know" you, but I know there are people here in Babble-land who care about you.
i am on FB pastor J. but what i need is a great big hug and words of consolation, telling me we will make it. i cannot talk to my kids because i break down. i am weeping even now as i type this.
Gosh, I'm sorry - my heart goes out to you!
I thrive on hugs and I know how hard it is to go without touch.
oh rose!
I believe we will make it, one way or another, but it's hard to see that from this vantage point.
Yes, Granny. I'm a lurker, too, but I care, too. If you would like to chat via email, i would be happy to give it to you. I can't give you a real hug, but please consider yourself hugged "virtually"!
one day at a time. it's too mard to deal with teh uncertainty long range.
Granny, please take Mrs. T. up on that, and please say if you'd like to do a Facebook call with me. Any contact is better than none, even if you're weeping.
thanx for your kind offer Mrs T. and thanx for the hug. in a few minutes i will right as rain, but right now.....
i will be going. it seems i leave you netter hands. good night, rose.
Good night, TO.
good night dear TO. sleep well my dear.
i only came to chat because i saw you wanted to talk.
i do not chat much any more.
than-you TO. i really appreciate it.
oh dear...*tHANk-YOU*
one day at a time. it's been a hard two days for me but it will pass.
We are all here for you. Just feel free to reach out. My email is: mrstvbin@hotmail.com. You're in my prayers.
Grannyrose, I am so sorry. I lurk mostly, but if I see you around, I will come out of "hiding." I am spending the pandemic alone. My family is around the country, and my friends who are local are not quite local. I am taking it one day at a time--as TO just mentioned. And getting out for my walks--they help.
and I'm at msaydd@gmail.com; just be sure I know you're "grannyrose" and I'll respond. Prayers from here as well.
thanx for the email addy Mrs T. and thanx Pastor J. i'm just having a bad hair day, as they say. i miss being able to go out into my community. i was closely tied to many "missions" for want of a better word. although i can't gallop like i used to do, i can still cook and loved providing meals to those who needed them.
You sound like such a caring, giving person, Granny, I can understand how being forced away from those that you've been helping makes it even harder to be in lockdown.
and there is no church either. i have joined a group on line called sojourners. maybe you have heard of them. at least i am guided through a bible reading and a prayer which does much for me.
On the other side of this, then, there is need for you - the people you fed will be hungry to see you again! I'm glad you found some online spiritual "grounding." Don't give up. Take care and good night.
good night Pastor J. and thank-you for caring. God bless
and Mrs T and pam, thank-you for caring enough to come out of stealth mode. i have a smile on my face now. and for now i am not crying. bless you two too.
b6/18...clue please
God bless! And remember, you are not alone. We are all here for you!
boson
aeb, it can't be b 6/18 because of the count for the letter b. would you like to rephrase that stat? i could help you then.
could it be the be5/18 you need?
yes it could be.....
*giggle* a nautical term. be + now i *** me down to sleep, child's prayer
ty granny
np's dear.
I remember Captain Barbossa saying in the third Pirates of the Carribean movie "***** that! Let her run straight and true!"
hey Douglas. are you okay?
i'm okay. we have some wonderful people here in babbleland. so i am now doing fine.
*Huge Hugs* to you Rose!
I'm okay, even though my county in Minnesota is something a covid hot spot. I'm adjusting to constraints.
{{{{{{{kam}}}}}}}} hello dear friend. you saw my bad hair day. i'm okay now. how are you? is himself more compliant with hand hygiene?
good for you Douglas. stand firm my friend. we want you around for some time .
Not really. I've been having a lot of rough days lately, not even feeling up to doing anything, and I have a lot of backed up laundry and chores, but no energy or motivation to get to it.
We're getting a lot of new cases every day, and they've closed down a couple of the counties next to us. Our area of the county has the most cases, but no deaths.
i hear you kam. motivation is one of the first things to fly out of the window. have you had your doc. appt. yet. it must be soon.
did you see we have the second wave happening here? we are in lockdown for another 6 weeks.
Yes, I saw. It's happening all over the US, and they opened the Florida Disney World, and the Downtown area of the Calif park, even though cases are increasing in both areas.
Appt is the 27th.
but if we all put our fingers in our ears and sing loud enough, then the virus will just go away, right?
i was reading a report from Sweden where the government has done zilch, not even hand hygiene is being pushed. they have had a very high fatality rate, and their economy hasn't faired any better than ours has with the restrictions.
oh hurshy, i wish that were so. i would be out there bellowing my lungs out.
I wish! Just have to keep pushing forward and doing our best. It's getting tougher being on lockdown. I don't want to go out and take chances though.
and NOW scientists are saying that transmission IS airborne. for heavens sake. of course it is. and it isn't the big droplets at all. the finer spray is getting through the air filters. you have to have some really heavy duty filters to keep cv-19 out.
The story seems to change daily. I listened to a press conference from the next county over today, and their county Dr. said she doesn't think herd immunity will ever be reached. There is much debate over opening schools. I feel badly for the teachers, especially those with younger kids. It's so hard to get everything in a row to help their students and not let their own kids fall behind.
my sister is coming to visit tomorrow, for a week. to be allowed into our state, you have to have gotten tested within 72 hours. however, you don't get the RESULTS of the test within 72 hours, necessarily. so it's not entirely clear to me how useful that is, lol.
I heard they're falling behind on getting test results because the labs don't have all the necessary supplies to keep things moving quickly. May your sister have a safe trip!
yeah, thanks
I just saw a post that said anyone who wanted testing could be tested in Missouri
i hope your sister makes it through okay hurshy.
open to all Missouri residents
kam, i have been following stidmama on FB. she says it's awful. the teachers are all caught between a rock and a hard place.
Our county set up testing, but you have to have an appt. The lines are crazy long.
over here we aren't tested unless we have symptoms. and our local docs. are doing consults in the carparks of the clinics. only those who are free of any symptoms are allowed into the building.
Is stidmama a teacher? My daughter is, and she's very concerned. She was supposed to start a new position at the high school this coming semester, and she doesn't know what is going to happen. She has 2 littles - 6 and 8. Both are in dual immersion classes, and aren't getting their Spanish education or a lot of the extras that were supposed to be part of the program. They're struggling, especially the younger one - she really misses her friends, and doesn't like doing classes online.
brb, have to do some outside chores before the sun sets.
yes she is kam.
lo5/12?
I am a senior citizen and had knee surgery in April. Prior to that, I was forced to have a covid test. Went to an area hospital that had set up an outside facility for testing, in a tent, and had the worst experience ever. The idiot nurse either took an instant dislike to me or she was having mental problems, for she assaulted me with the swab, jabbing it in and out of my sinus cavity like a jackhammer. She caused a blood vessel to rupture and I had a nosebleed to deal with for 30 minutes. When I complained she was too rough, she actually laughed at me and accused me of whining.
lo5/12. plural of lo4/5. good rich soil
omg gingin... lead me to her. i'll smack her ears together. what a nasty piece of work she is.
have that one ....need the last one, please
I hope her karma comes to her quickly. My late sister was a nurse and I have been swabbed before, it is a gentle process.
nvm
aeb that is the last lo5/12.
gingin yes it is a gentle process for the simple reason one does not want to rupture any of the fine veins which line the mucosa.
Well, I can assure you that having one's veins abraided is ghastly.
She is lucky I did not strike her with my cane.
i would have, accidentally of course, then told her to stop whining. what a female dog. some nurse should not be in the job.
What I find quite awful is the attitude held by some nurses that they know more than the doctors they work with.
i worked with a night nurse once, who wore goth make-up. she was so nasty about patients ringing their bells through the night. this was in a post-surgery ward. pain stalked the corridors. and the way she would walk , slopping along like she just didn't want to be there. most nights i wished she wasn't.
I once had a housemate that was a nurse. She, at the time, was untreated for extreme borderline personality disorder. I often wondered if she abused or neglected any of her patients.
gingin, sometimes, just sometimes they do know more, particularly if they have specialised in one area. but personally? i would always let the docs say and do what they wanted, especially the more experienced ones. the younger docs. i would take under my wing and guide them through without them losing face.
Well, I made it thru half. Time for beddy-byes. G'nite!
and never, never talk a doc down to his patient. that is an absolute no-no. it's called breaking down patient/doctor relationship and meddling with communication between patients and thie docs.
sweet dreams gingin where ever in the world you are.
Boy, it is still hot outside and it's dark! Most chores done. Now sitting under AC vent and a fan to cool off.
hello all -- Kamanjah I saw your question. I teach third grade, but unless the conditions change I will have to not teach - I was prepared to take a chance if we had half the kids at a time, but with my health issues that would be very dangerous for me. So ...
if they intend to open schools with full loads I may have to take unemployment for a while. Nearly two months to go, so things may yet change. Currently infection rates are rising thought.
Stay safe, stidmama! Sorry to hear that you, too, deal with health issues.
Thanks. Seems like a lot of us "of a certain age" have hidden issues. :-)
Yeah, I'm not dealing with the getting older thing too well.
