Gae very obscure word....past participle more so..get real babble !

5:39 am

Scottish I guess?

5:48 am

There is no gae word

6:09 am

I think that was a typo for "gee" and referring to the 11 letter word

6:22 am

Vane...

6:22 am

Vane... .

6:24 am

Gane...to yawn an archaic word

6:24 am

What are you doing? You type in the add word box.

6:24 am

Sorry typos....

I do not always post my cleaning efforts Molly I do not want people to think I am some sort of Domestic Goddess :)

8:38 am

Just joking Peri. You and Judi had a cleaning thing going there for a while.

10:48 am

oh how lovely! I was a camp counselor for eons when I was young, and we all had to have bird names. My counselor name was my first word today - ga6.24. Still love those birds

hi trif

10:54 am

Hello friend! I was hoping to see you today! You always greet everyone with such warmth

how is your brother liking his home?

10:57 am

he is so relieved to be away from their fecal neighbors that it has been BLISS!!! His youngest just started walking, so the big yard is a huge bonus. The house is taking some getting used to = it's so big! lots of hiding spots for little people. lol

10:58 am

fecal neighbors?

lol and cats. moving with a cat is a real experience.they find EVERY hidey place.

10:59 am

their neighbors were the WORST. Just horrible people.

11:00 am

Ori has some fecal neighbors too

11:01 am

Origami's neighbor sounds like she needs to be committed.

11:02 am

agreed

11:03 am

if i lived next door to them the police would be at their door daily

11:03 am

ve 5/16, pls

11:03 am

I know there is an old saying about "wherever you go, you take yourself with you" and I get what that is intending to say, but I have found that somehow changing homes can change EVERYTHING.

11:05 am

i just have one neighbor i don't like... and one of his friends threatened me the other day

11:05 am

that's not okay, obviously

11:06 am

"nannied" was not found in the dictionary?

11:07 am

they have a nasty habit of parking so tightly on the corners of the street you can't cross the street. I left a nice note on the car pointing out they were blocking the cross walk and there are disabled people in the neighborhood on walkers and he chased me down on my walk and threatened to jump ouf of his car and beat the fecal out of me

11:07 am

what a jerk!

11:08 am

Okay, so I'm guessing no barbecuing with neighbors for you, Ru.

11:08 am

I have greyed the top row - FEAR ME

11:08 am

well.. no... especially not that one

11:08 am

morning all

11:08 am

ve 5/16, pls

clue for the 11 not word please?

11:09 am

hello mool

11:09 am

good morning mool!

11:09 am

hey ru, hope you're safe...morning Trif, happy Monday

11:09 am

It's too bad your neighbors are fecal heads, Ru

oh i just found it!

11:09 am

safe so far.. but packed and ready to go if things get worse

11:10 am

surely blocking the sidewalk is reportable?

11:10 am

weather still bad, or is there hope on the horizon?

11:10 am

it is .. but then they'd know it was me and retaliate trif

11:11 am

hmmm.

11:11 am

we're having winds now.. and it is making the firefighter's job much more difficult

11:11 am

bummer

11:12 am

i get a long will all my other neighbors, but this one is an asshole.. he's always having parties in his back yard with dozens of cars parking everywhere and playing mexican rap music.. which in my opinion is a hundred times worse than regular rap music

11:13 am

get along WELL that is

reggaeton. it's called reggaeton.

11:14 am

even in SIP he has about 50 people in his yard .. no wonder the Latino population is hit harder with Covid here than anyone else

11:14 am

ve 5/16, pls

11:14 am

is that for real TO?

yes.

?

time for housework. or food . or housework and food.

11:16 am

ok.. never heard of that.. it doesn't sound like reggae music to me

11:16 am

bich - sounds like a negative on a letter

11:25 am

good morning everyone - small but tough?

11:25 am

not sure yet, I've gotten down to 22 so far

11:25 am

easy except for the g's and c's nan

11:27 am

hi ru -- still at home?

11:28 am

a grapey grid so far

11:31 am

still here nan.. but packed incase we have to go

11:33 am

it is so smoky here I wish i could leave already

11:34 am

at least the smoke should make more people wear masks :)

11:50 am

surprisingly the mask wearing here has gotten a lot better. by and large

11:50 am

Why Nan? Masks do nothing for smoke inhalation. Unless you have the high quality ones and those are currently reserved for medical personnel only.

11:51 am

we just had another large grocery chain announce that they were making masks mandatory in their stores

11:51 am

I plan to switch where I shop as a result

11:52 am

ordered masks yesterday. The disclaimer read: This mask is not intended for medical use, and not proven to reduce the transmission of disease

11:53 am

All stores in my area require the wearing of masks. Our governor ordered that months ago.

11:54 am

Afternoon all. Molly - do they enforce it?

11:54 am

oh but it has been proved, Molly --- apparently 2 layer masks do a great deal to reduce transmission of the virus. Single layer masks or a mask, not so much. If you can blow out a match or a candle through your mask - it is not doing it's job.

11:55 am

I've noticed most shops here don't and neither do the public transport drivers.

11:55 am

Yes, any mask that's not rated as offical PPE has to have that disclaimer. I'm making masks for a fundraiser for a local foundation, and there is a difference in effectiveness. I make the best cloth kind with 2 layers of cotton, 3 pleats, nose clip, and adjustable ear loops (or surgical ties).

11:56 am

I can barely breathe through one layer. I think I would have trouble with two.

11:56 am

*meant to say single layer mask or a scarf doesn't work very well

11:57 am

do the candle test, molly

11:58 am

Yes, the 'gaiters' and single layer coverings can actually be worse. Here's the link to my fundraiser if you want to see samples: https://pilchuck-foundation.square.sit\ne/

11:58 am

I think cotton is easiest to breathe through and it absorbs more moisture than a synthetic, so glasses don't fog up so much

12:06 pm

greetings one and all

12:07 pm

hi hurshy

12:10 pm

hope everyone is doing alright

12:10 pm

are there any GN words? or GE for that matter? i have 5 ga

12:11 pm

doing well. Cybernan, I learned the easiest trick to STOP fogging up glasses. Take a tissue, fold in half, then again, then again --- then use it like a 'cushion' under your nose bridge. NO MORE FOGGING! The folded tissue acts like a gasket.

12:12 pm

I haven't found any, hurshy.

12:12 pm

you know, you find these yiddish ones and you're all proud of yourself but then there's still SOMETHING ELSE to find!! lol

12:13 pm

I agree! lol

12:13 pm

no gn words...

12:13 pm

phantom: fennel

12:13 pm

thanks bojazz

12:14 pm

phantom: Flannel

12:15 pm

May I have stats for any of the H's please?

12:18 pm

well i hope to goodness my 2 missing ga words are a combo

12:22 pm

do you have the ga 5-6 combo?

12:22 pm

or the ga 6-7 combo?

12:23 pm

i have the 5-6 combo

12:23 pm

let me know if you want a clue for the other.

12:23 pm

yes please :D

12:24 pm

I tried your link ch1212, but it didn't work - page not found

12:24 pm

ends in the condition Prep H helps with

12:24 pm

ty!

12:25 pm

https://pilchuck-foundation.square.sit\ne/s/shop And if that doesn't work, you can go through our website at PilchuckFoundation.org

12:27 pm

Cy, the - symbol is between the words pilchuck and foundation.

12:29 pm

doesn't like the backslash -- keeps changing it

12:30 pm

ah, then just go through our website - there's a link on the front page. www.pilchuckfoundation.org

12:30 pm

the backslash and the n need to be removed

12:30 pm

that's all

12:31 pm

ah... thanks, hurshy. BTW, if someone on here want to get one and lives in Canada, let me know and I'll make it happen. Right now the square site says shipping only to U.S.

12:31 pm

nice looking masks, ch1212

12:32 pm

that happens pretty much any time you paste a longish URL into babble chat, it sticks in a \n and you have to know to take it out

12:32 pm

Thanks -- I've made over 700 for essential workers in town, and now I figured I would use them to raise funds for the foundation. It's kept me out of mischief! ;)

12:34 pm

rereading Harry Potter, i'm on book 5, and i find myself willing it to go differently... for him not to fall for the trick... sigh.

12:34 pm

shockingly, the book isn't changing

12:34 pm

wow - you have been busy. I made them for everyone in our family who wanted them, but that was it. I couldn't find the aluminum clips though so just made a pocket with a piece of ribbon on the inside and cut a pipe cleaner t fit inside that can be removed for washing.

12:37 pm

That works, cybernan. I started out with pipe cleaners, then purchased flat aluminum nose clips, about 5" long. Found them on etsy. Hurshy, we are besotted with HP in this house. Husband is a librarian, and dresses up as Dumbledore for the annual Harry Potter week. He is tall, completely grey haired, and grows his beard out for the occasion. We even splurged on the fancy Dumbledore wand and spectacles. lol!

12:37 pm

nice

12:39 pm

Well my friends, I've dawdled enough and need to get busy. Thank you for the chat! bbl

12:40 pm

fun fact: rupert grint was supposed to write an essay about ron's character for like the director of the movie, only he didn't, cause he figured "Ron wouldn't do it"

12:40 pm

bye ch1212 - hagd and stay safe

12:42 pm

oh my, could i have info about the 11?

12:44 pm

THere is nothing that proves the 11 exists

12:45 pm

aha, thank you

12:45 pm

ok, and so, that helped me get one of the 8s also, but, what is the other 8?

12:47 pm

that clue went way over my head

12:48 pm

i had to kind of look at the grid and zen it out, cnan, before i got it

12:49 pm

it is an no11

12:49 pm

i see the nothing part, but not the exist part

12:49 pm

oh and i only have one 7, the one you clued me earlier

12:49 pm

don't focus on "exist" focus on "prove"

12:50 pm

the lack of what detectives use

12:52 pm

deduction? instinct?

12:52 pm

we can't use this in court, it won't hold up, it's no11

12:52 pm

ev*

12:53 pm

oh - ty -- didn't see either word before

12:53 pm

Just zen it out Nan : D

12:53 pm

so, does anyone have the other 8, or any of the 7s besides ga7?

12:53 pm

love those 2fers :)

12:54 pm

ca8

12:54 pm

don't have any 8's - is there an no 8?

12:54 pm

cnan - ev8, yeah?

12:54 pm

thank you molly!

12:55 pm

lh yes - did get the ev 8

12:56 pm

ty molly - just bought some the other day

12:56 pm

what i mean by zen it out is that i was typing words that were related to the ideas of the clue that i had the letters for in the grid, even if i couldn't see what was connected and what wasn't, and eventually after trying the adjective form unsuccessfully i got to the noun

12:58 pm

need to go and pick the tomatoes -- looks like we might get some rain finally. bbl

1:01 pm

name that proper noun! capital of Austria

1:02 pm

Hurshy, I prefer the image of you floating yoga style in mid-air

1:02 pm

i do like yoga

1:03 pm

Vienna (cues up Billy Joel)

1:03 pm

ding ding ding!!!

1:03 pm

got the list - we have that ct7 again, no wonder i wasn't seeing THAT

1:04 pm

We have the Greeks to blame for that one

1:04 pm

same ending as ga6 that has a 7 plural

1:05 pm

and hy7, also with that ending

1:13 pm

Thx for clues and hi to all! Hope everyone's holding up as well as they can.

1:15 pm

could i gave a clue for the ca 7 please

1:15 pm

Hot pepper

1:16 pm

1:16 pm

oh wow thank you FW

1:17 pm

congrats!

1:41 pm

Done! Just one question ere I go - do Canadian Babblers think Americans will EVER be allowed across the border? (Have a 21 yr old son in Toronto)

1:42 pm

Not that I'm blaming anyone for not wanting us...

1:45 pm

Of course Americans will be allowed across again. When COVID is under control. I hope soon, but I fear not.

1:48 pm

If I just knew a date certain when I could see him and give him a hug... it's the indefiniteness that's making me a bit crazy

1:48 pm

feds a word applicable usa is this federations ?

1:49 pm

The border being closed is very hard for lots of families. Our countries have close ties. COVID seems to make everything harder. I went to visit my mother at the nursing home today. It is like a prison visits honestly, both masked, 6 feet apart, with the guard there to make sure we don't break the protocol. TOTALLY necessary to protect her but my God it is hard. One quick hug at the end. I brought her a favorite treat from Tim's: a chocolate chip muffin, but I wasn't allowed to give it to her.

1:50 pm

She can't even have the muffin from Tim's???? What, did you slather it with virions?? So sad.

1:50 pm

I know others have it way way harder than I do... but that doesn't make me miss my kid any less. It's weird how that works.

1:51 pm

you guys listen to the science protect others

1:55 pm

Natasha the protocols are very strict, but they have kept her and the other 74 people in her home safe. Zero cases and obviously zero deaths. It does take an emotional toll though. She has Alzheimer's I think the lack of physical family contact has increased her descent into forgetfulness.

2:00 pm

ve 5/16, pls

2:00 pm

self isolation is traumatic lonely...still can have family contact try the telephone for encouragement and MUSIC

2:03 pm

Bichon I don't have that on yet. Yes, Freddie, I think our whole society has been emotionally traumatized by COVID. I live alone and like it. But I also like physical contact with my loved ones. So far I am coping OK I think. But I know lots of people who are getting really depressed.

2:08 pm

te 7/36, pls

It's really tragic. I feel bad for everyone going through this but it seems another level of sadness when it's the last act of someone's life.

2:23 pm

Yes, Natasha. She is 94, certainly coming to the end of her life. We her family would wish to spend this time with her. but it cannot be. The 'up' side is that she doesn't seem to have an awareness of the loss. She lives in the moment and doesn't feel lonely I don't think.

2:24 pm

I have TWO words left LOL. Better get to it!

2:26 pm

3:54 pm

have not found yet

4:12 pm

stats for the w please?

moo!

4:13 pm

hey hoke, happy Monday :)

am I correct in assuming the H's are all HY?

4:13 pm

yep

4:14 pm

still working on my last 3 words

I have made it to 37 at least.

4:14 pm

and two of them are 4s

wow

4:14 pm

2 words...thought I had that one already

I still have 17 4's to look for

4:14 pm

well, been mostly playing while on calls, so not a very effective approach

yeah, I started late and have had a lot going on, so also not effective.

4:15 pm

yep, still not a bad board

4:15 pm

a few bablets

but I have 5 gray tiles at least :D

4:16 pm

oh boy, that was an easy...last word is a 7

I have 2 7's :D

but I just found a 7/8 combo so I've got that going for

me

4:17 pm

ty mool

4:17 pm

well I know at least one you're missing :)

4:17 pm

yw nan

because it's so insane I'd never get it?

4:17 pm

nope

because you have ESP?

4:18 pm

nope, not sure I'd want ESP

4:18 pm

only have 2 7's so far

hmm, how do you know I'm missing it then?

4:19 pm

because of something you said

did I use it inadvertently in the chat?

4:19 pm

I admit, there's a chance that you have it, so my assumption is not infallible

oh, I didn't have the y, so it must be a 7?

not yakteen

4:20 pm

nah, the y isn't a 7

yeds

oops

4:20 pm

though yakteen seems like it really should be in there

I know!!

must be hy

4:21 pm

some teens sure can yak

I have phantom hyacinth, so I wonder if it is related to that.

4:21 pm

largest type of macaw, if you've ever wondered...the hyacinth that is

and I thought it was only a flower

4:22 pm

it's the dark blue macaw with a little bit of yellow around the face

4:23 pm

not to be confused with the more common blue and gold, which is lighter blue and has a white face with black markings

you know a little too much about macaws

4:23 pm

while it's the longest parrot, it's not the heaviest...that would go to the New Zealand Kakapo, which is also flightless

4:23 pm

I am like birds and words...and beer, but that doesn't rhyme

4:24 pm

and hockey

you're just trying to distract me. no way I will find 34 before you find your last 1.

4:24 pm

oh, sorry

4:25 pm

anyway, you'd asked me a question before, which is where I drew the conclusion about the 7

my favorite Reba McEntire song is in the grid today

4:25 pm

and Hyacinth Bucket (Bouquet) in Keeping Up Apperances

what do y'all think my missing a from the top is?

4:27 pm

you missing 2 words or one?

actually one from each A

4:27 pm

perhaps the two rhyming 4s?

I definitely don't have any that rhyme

4:28 pm

well then :)

unless your rhyming ability is suspect

4:29 pm

it's text, anything goes right?

4:29 pm

there is a rhyming pair

hmm, moving on for now

4:30 pm

nan is very good with rhyming, so I feel vindicated

I have found all kinds of made up v words and yet there are still 4 left

4:31 pm

nan is not good at finding ct 7's, however

4:31 pm

oh, that's the 7 I'm missing I guess

ct7? yikes. carla will not find that either

4:32 pm

got tired of banging my head against the wall, so went to the list :)

4:32 pm

found it

4:33 pm

and that's fw

found one of the a's, can't imagine a word that rhymes with that

well done!

4:33 pm

thx nan, would not have found that without the letters

4:33 pm

they both sound scottish to me

how would you like to clue the ct7 for carla and nan?

4:34 pm

Has the same ending as the 7 I thought you were missing :)

so helpful

4:34 pm

the word I though you were missing means something that resembles the shape and or appearance of a certain african animal

ah, got the animal. will start trying to make adj.

4:35 pm

so I was right then, you were missing it?

yes

4:36 pm

lucky guess

no, a good assumption using the facts on record

4:36 pm

but you had asked about that tile, so it was an educated one :)

4:36 pm

ct 7 clue please?

4:37 pm

how cluey would you like me to be nan?

4:37 pm

do you have the h7?

4:37 pm

because if you do, they both have the same ending

doesn't end like the person between ages 13-20

4:38 pm

the ending meaning something that resembles in shape and/or appearance to the root word

4:38 pm

sorry mool - but I have no idea about a 7 you thought someone else was missing

4:39 pm

Yeah, that was for carla, but do you have the h7?

read his follow-up questions that may have popped up while you were typing

4:39 pm

have the hy 7 -- will look again

4:39 pm

has the same ending

got em, thx

4:39 pm

ty - certainly something I've never seen before

4:39 pm

yay!

4:40 pm

Apparently it means comb shaped or rough edged as it applies to animals

so, like a rooster thing?

4:41 pm

and the c is apparently silent

what about my missing K that isn't the spelling out of the boxing term?

4:41 pm

My wife got my daughter the book, P is for Pterodactyl, which amuses me to this day

4:42 pm

think of the present and the past hoke

4:42 pm

oh sorry

4:42 pm

wrong word...let me look

LOL, I was baffled but looking har

hard

4:42 pm

another 4

finally, thx

4:44 pm

and you got the one off that tile you were asking about right?

LOL, that one is scottish and one I should learn. yes, K

4:44 pm

not talking about the 7 to be honest

oh, wait. not sure which

4:45 pm

but if you got that k, then you should have the other two that rhyme :)

4:45 pm

first in5 pls

wow, just saw phantom wacky and I already have w finished

4:45 pm

that's such a dumb question peri ;)

oh, will look again

4:46 pm

ne 6 please?

I think you mean, silly question since there's no such thing as a dumb question

4:46 pm

ne6...perhaps this is what happened in Las Vegas

4:47 pm

although they probably use other technology now

4:47 pm

mindless question perhaps

4:47 pm

hope I didn't offend peri

4:48 pm

didn't know it could be used as a verb

well, you did use a winking smiley

4:48 pm

yeah, pretty lame word

4:48 pm

I did hope to convey that it was a clue and not a statement

4:49 pm

ty mool and no you didn't. but I never see that word

what about the y?

4:50 pm

perhaps you were inundated with currency hoke

lol another noun verbed

one missing C

nm, it was a weird 4

the return of the c4

4:52 pm

return of the?

4:52 pm

yep

4:52 pm

te 7/40 please?

great minds...

4:53 pm

ever rented nan?

thx

4:54 pm

tenant doesn't fit

now just 1 7

another noun related to that nan

the act of renting

4:54 pm

just saw it - ty mool and carla

4:55 pm

well there is a 6/7 with our favourite ending on today's grid

4:55 pm

the 7 being plural

got it, thx

4:55 pm

that does it for me. Grid done, all errands done - plan to laze the rest of the day away :)

only had 3 words from that tile so figured it was from that

nice, nan

4:56 pm

yay nan, congrats

made it 20. I need to start making my lasagna. 6pm here but we had a late lunch. will probably have to go to list later.

4:58 pm
