12:18 pm

12:23 pm

Good morning everyone!

12:24 pm

gm mool

12:24 pm

hey nan, happy friday

12:25 pm

is it too much to ask for a little consistency with enable? aristo is a word, but anglo isn't?

12:26 pm

well anglo is proper no? whereas aristo just means aristocrat

12:27 pm

I agree on anglo(s) but ca4 is ok?

12:27 pm

thought they were both prefixes

12:28 pm

think perhaps at some point aristo was a slang term for aristocrat...but speculating

12:29 pm

well what about folic, nan? other acids accepted

12:29 pm

yes - that one too

12:29 pm

folic was a well known exclusion (along with prion) both of which got added to the next version of the scrabble dictionary

12:30 pm

going to list - 45 left and the words are getting weirder

12:30 pm

there is no rhyme or reason as to what words are accepted which makes the game frustrating at time

12:30 pm

hi all

12:30 pm

well there is, it's just very convoluted, and lost in time

12:30 pm

46 left here going to the list soon as wll

12:31 pm

aha. have to be a long-time list follower ;)

12:31 pm

Basically it comes down to the rules that US collegiate dictionaries use to add words

12:31 pm

oh boy - missed an x3 and don't have a clue on any of them

12:31 pm

so you'd have to go to each of them and look at their criteria

12:31 pm

meanwhile, we're talking about a 22 year old dictionary, so there's that too

12:31 pm

I made it to 10 today, but I got lucky with a lot of monkeying

12:31 pm

so there is english and then there is US college english?

12:31 pm

or 20 years old I guess

12:32 pm

nan, did you know maskeg yesterday?

12:32 pm

Well enable was based off the scrabble dictionary in 1998, which in turn was based off of 6 US collegiate dictionaries

12:32 pm

but the scrabble dictionary had some errors and omissions, that enable tried to resolve

12:33 pm

I monkeyed it carla -- no idea what the def is

12:33 pm

The guy who created enable actually went through the dictionaries and compared that with the scrabble dictionary and submitted for corrections...

12:33 pm

another word for muskeg?

12:33 pm

and this game started with scrabble dictionary but I think 8 letters was the longest word size so Dr. God found enable and switched.

12:33 pm

In the end he worked with some others to create his own dictionary

12:34 pm

yes, nan, which I had never heard of but it said a bog in northern north america so I thought maybe you would know

12:34 pm

well the other thing is enable is online and free, so that was of interest to a lot of game developers

12:35 pm

but Enable hasn't been updated in 20 years...whereas us scrabble dictionary continues to be updated...and it's gotten more liberal in word additions than it used to be

12:36 pm

always think of muskeg as being semi-frozen wetlands or swamps

12:36 pm

tundra bog?

12:37 pm

gnomal - to be like your average gnome

12:37 pm

yes, mool

12:37 pm

I tried gnomy a couple of times

12:38 pm

once you go gnomy...

12:38 pm

it's not a tumah. okay, it is

12:39 pm

12:39 pm

12:39 pm
