you're being such a shishka lindy :D

7:50 am

Fourth column O is oi6.18

7:50 am

Kerklempt is not in the grid : D

7:51 am

It took me a while to find that 4th column O

7:52 am

I'm still working on the second row.

7:53 am

Oh dose o's

7:54 am

i got it ty

8:06 am

I happily just read Guiliani's court case in Penn got thrown out of court :D

8:09 am

Excellent

8:10 am

what in the world happened to that man

8:10 am

How many more will they come up with?

8:13 am

I'm not sure Welki.. from 9/11 to the nutjob today is a scary transition

8:15 am

the leaking hair dye thing really cracked me up

8:15 am

exactly - i liked him as a mayor, and the way he conducted himself after 9/11.

8:15 am

I'm not afraid to have grey in my hair

8:16 am

ditto

8:16 am

he was perfect as the mayor after that disaster. I liked him then too, but he's totally nuts.. did you see his press conference?

8:17 am

yes i did - he was like a crackhead, rambling, nonsensical, looked compromised in more ways than one

8:17 am

these guys get people around them who do nothing but ego-stroking, eventually they've done too much sniffing their own farts and it rots their brains

8:18 am

Beyond the pale

8:18 am

yeah.. and you being an attorney could read through it better than I could

8:18 am

i wonder if those radioactive seeds they implanted in him for his cancer have affected his mind (or if that's even possible)

8:19 am

well Dan when you have your head so far up your own ass that's the result :D

8:19 am

(if you're referring to me as an attorney, i am not and have never been. i was a prosecuting paralegal)

8:19 am

oh.. i thought you were an attorney

8:20 am

here, you can be a prosecutor in the lower courts without being an attoryney

8:20 am

oh

8:21 am

it was a great career, loved almost every minute of it

8:21 am

my brother was trying to be an attorney, but found that drinking cocktails and chasing woman was better than studying for the bar exam

8:22 am

there are some who can do both

8:22 am

women that is

8:23 am

i found that o word if you still need it mlf

8:27 am

the lone O? yes please

8:28 am

greasier.. like guiliani

8:28 am

tyty I thought I had typed that already

8:29 am

yw

8:29 am

so8/40 also applies

8:30 am

what Trump is doing is really driving a chaotic wedge in this country. I hope that when the new administration is in place they clean house immediately

8:31 am

It's the common crazies that worry me most.

8:33 am

i know bea.. it's been amazing to see. they must be buying in on all that Fox News, OAN network stuff

8:36 am

nonetheless i am glad all the elections are mostly over

8:44 am

Hi kids. How is everyone doing today?

8:48 am

good morning scrabs.. (went to make coffee)

8:49 am

It's been snowing for an hour, in case you miss the white stuff.

8:49 am

i haven't lived in white stuff since 1980

8:49 am

although when I move I should get a little up there

8:50 am

Where are you going?

8:50 am

Here is the taco spaghetti recipe

8:50 am

https://tinyurl.com/y4f83vut

8:50 am

eventually to washington state near the border

8:50 am

I know you have talked about that area before, with visits to Jill, et al.

8:52 am

yep.. love it up there.. wish i could live in BC

8:52 am

this will be somewhat similar .. same ocean views

8:52 am

A med school classmate moved to Edmonton and her photos of the wildlife are amazing.

8:53 am

if welki would just adopt me i can get my canadian citizenship :D

8:53 am

Keep working on that.

8:55 am

i can groom her dog well

8:56 am

Yes.

9:07 am

Pumpkin bread in the oven. It's starting to smell like Thanksgiving here.

9:08 am

making it this early Molly?

9:08 am

I was thinking about making pumpkin bread.

I made some while we were camping a couple of weeks ago.

9:09 am

I love pumpkin bread, muffins, cookies, etc

9:10 am

I got some pumpkiin snickerdoodles at Aldis that were so good.

9:10 am

i'm not a pumpkin pie guy, but the bread sounds great without nuts

were those gluten free, bea? a lot of times snikerdoodles are.

I def. don't put nuts in it.

9:10 am

Probably not, Carla

9:11 am

I don't put nuts in my pumpkin bread either.

and I had some leftover almond buttercream that I slathered on some pieces.

mr. homie was all like "I don't like pumpkin bread" so I said, just try it. he did and of course he liked it.

9:13 am

I bought a couple cupcakes at the Farmer's Market yesterday that were made up to look like roasted turkeys.

cute

9:16 am

oh.. found the 9

9:16 am

Yes making it this early. It has to sit around for a few days so the flavors do their thing. And I mail one loaf to my son and his wife.

9:17 am

they live that far away?

9:17 am

I agree, Molly. One small loaf hot out of the oven, the rest sits to get yummier.

9:17 am

I do a lot of advanced prep for Thanksgiving. The green bean casserole went in the freezer yesterday. No they don't live far away, but it's become a tradition that I mail it.

I'm still on the top row here. quite a struggle.

9:18 am

I only have the T left in that top row.

9:18 am

And yes, I am going out for Thanksgiving this year, but I'm still sending the older two home with the traditional leftovers.

9:19 am

But Carla, there are no A's today.

oh, that's good

torsion was a phantom for me yesterday and I just tried it today.

9:24 am

That gave me 2 words, carla.

I did do the K out of order and finished it so I've got that going for me.

hmm, glad I could help. did not give me 2 words :D

9:25 am

2 to5/10s

oh, I guess I already had one of those. but thanks!

9:28 am

top row done finally

well I did get at least halfway on the top row. oh, except for the y.

9:30 am

yi4 and 5

thanks, bea. was typing randomly and almost got to that.

oh, there's a nice F word

9:34 am

I passed halfway so I am done. Time to do laundry and make some art orders.

9:36 am

22 left here...

9:36 am

Two of those are 8's

9:36 am

one 8 to go here

I need 8 8's ;D

but I'm sure I'll stumble into them at some point

olist - about what I am in this game

9:42 am

9:42 am

That's a good one, phae...Work weary

9:42 am

9:44 am

9:48 am

i have the taco spaghetti recipe.. thank you.. it's kind of how I expected the ingredients to be .. I'm going to try it sometime soon

hmm, you can't get the wrinkles out of clothes again. someone tell my mom that.

9:48 am

maybe on Taco Tuesday

9:48 am

floris

oops

I know, not real

9:49 am

you are being flowery today hokie

9:49 am

or maybe putting the petal to the metal

9:49 am

I broke my spaghetti in half to make it easier to eat. Also used beef bouillion in the water to give it more umph.

guess I should have rearranged my cursor

9:49 am

Hi folks

origami!

9:50 am

Good morning, ori.

ooh, found an 8

9:51 am

My last 8 was probably the easiest.

9:53 am

I'm going to get off my duff and get something done...

9:54 am

See you all next time.

bye bea!

finally got that to8 that was clued

now that I've started 3rd row

9:55 am

Have a nice day, Bea.

9:59 am

morning ori...

9:59 am

how did the mizuna thing turn out?

10:03 am

Yes, it was pretty good. But I did learn that the stems are tough so will strip those off next time.

10:12 am

yeah.. they are tough

10:14 am

you can make a mizuna salad with kumquats and lemon juice and salt

10:14 am

flummoxed by the bottom e...are these everyday words?

10:15 am

they're all common words hokie

10:15 am

well got 2 now

10:16 am

and 2 more. they were just hiding. well 84 left after first pass.

it's the top left e...

10:19 am

does the to 8 begin with to 4..ripped?

10:19 am

no, it begins with a word for work and ends with not ripped, but well-*

10:20 am

I'll definitely have a lot of kunquats.

10:20 am

what's the top left e, TO?

10:20 am

lol i guessed and got it but good clue ty

10:21 am

All en words.

10:22 am

4,5,4,5

10:22 am

10:23 am

haven't seen that since I've been here, mlfan

10:24 am

ty

10:25 am

i looked at the list ts 6 and 7 unrelated

10:26 am

ok, got the 6, thx

10:26 am

yw

10:27 am

was looking at the wrong TS LOL

10:27 am

of course that T has no words

10:27 am

70 left now and just realized only 8 4's left. yikes.

10:28 am

that is nothing new for any of us to do lol

10:28 am

Yes, Hokie this grid is flowing nicely today!

10:29 am

partial pb but i will let it slide

10:29 am

hi zooz

10:29 am

LOL, was just wondering about that as wel

10:30 am

and i said the li4 word pb for me

10:32 am

He/she who has not said a grid word cast the first PB!

10:32 am

true. and way to avoid it again by changing the saying

10:32 am

since i came back yes sorry zooz

10:33 am

No need to apologise, Mlf. I am messing as you were!

10:38 am

can I have the stat for the 3rd row o, P&TY?

10:41 am

oi6/18

10:42 am

thanks

10:43 am

P & TY? PBJ? PYT?

10:43 am

please & thank you

10:43 am

peanut butter & jelly

10:43 am

pretty young thing

10:44 am

Look at that, she can actually type out whole words. Saints preserve us.

10:44 am

I could just ask for stats and not be polite by leaving it off

11:01 am

this is an internet game, people use acronyms and abbreviations on the internet. and they can still like whole words. you would die a thousand deaths in the serpentine chat.

11:02 am

anyhoo, somewhat stuck at 52 left. BBL.

11:05 am

hi all.

11:05 am

any clues for 8s or the 9 welcome. ty.

11:11 am

so9 you'll regret this one!!

11:12 am

noooo so8!!

11:13 am

st8

11:14 am

st8 - mosts gravelly!

11:17 am

we got a bit off track so now we need to re8 ourselves with the compass

11:17 am

(with re9)

11:18 am

did i see something about a ts7 as the chog history flashed by? i found ts6 at the flip but no 7

11:24 am

there is a ts7

11:24 am

might you be willing to clue it?

11:30 am

its another of those 'no definitios'!! ts-double vowel- ri8 minus the kthere is a ts6 version with only a single vowel

11:30 am

thanks

11:30 am

now i think i also need ri8! lol

11:31 am

oh no i see, you meant ri4/8

11:41 am

good morning everyone :)

11:42 am

hi nan, hi all

11:43 am

oh wow, what a neat to8

11:45 am

clue for that to8 pls hursh

11:46 am

sorry mistype you are right ri4.8!!

11:47 am

to8 is a compound word meaning weary from work

11:48 am

hmm

11:49 am

not seeing it

11:51 am

we are to4-ing away at this grid

11:52 am

and some of us might be in some well-**** clothing

11:54 am

Or ____ out from trying to find the to8

11:55 am

ah thank you all

11:55 am

is there an rri8?

11:56 am

ri8 even

11:56 am

I don't have one if there is. I still need 3 8's

11:56 am

11:56 am

I am missing one 8

11:57 am

11:57 am

don't have either. will look, thanks

12:04 pm

me too peri! have the te8's

12:05 pm

well I got one.

12:05 pm

just watching interviews of people reacting to the CA curfew --- when did personal wants supercede being a good citizen? This is me first at it's very wo5

12:05 pm

do you need help carla>

12:06 pm

I guess peri

12:06 pm

which te8 did you find?

12:07 pm

there is the smallest and the one that builds on an adult male voice

12:08 pm

ok, I have the smallest and was trying to build off that, so will stay on that path. thank you. now I am hiding the chat because I like to play this game to escape reality

12:08 pm

think if there hadnt been so much 'me first' i.e when the bars and restaurants opened we woulnt be in his mess today. however over here the biggest rat of infections now is in schools

12:08 pm

hidey hodey

12:09 pm

hey mool

12:09 pm

hey peri, happy day of the sun

12:11 pm

our schools are ok so far -- it is people holding house parties now that everything else has been closed down --- we have a 2 week order now -- no one in your home other than those that live there. Someone in a neighbouring community was fined $2000 last week for hosting a card party of 9 in his home but still people don't pay attention.

12:16 pm

we've had similar. A guy held a christening with over 100 guests, caterers a band when we were down to families i a household bubble only.He was fined £3000. Pure me me me

12:18 pm

we are halfway through a second serious lockdown-

12:20 pm

We are on lockdown here also. But someone in my neighborhood had a large party last night, complete with amplified sound.

12:21 pm

firewords! thanks lickety and all cluers

12:23 pm

it saddens me tht people can be so thoughtless and uncaring. Do they think its all 'fake news'? Does it come from the top??

A cousin just told me they're having a 50 person wedding in MD. It was supposed to be 250. What are they thinking?

12:23 pm

I live around a lot of Mexican immigrants and many of them just don't seem to take it seriously.

12:25 pm

A young woman with a Scandinavian accent who delivered my groceries yesterday was complaining that people were "overreacting" to the situation. Geesh.

Many people are not taking it seriously. But the dead can't speak. A lot of them didn't take it seriously either.

How you politicize a pandemic...did that happen in 1918 too?

I mean how do you politicize.

My grandmother survived the 1918 flue and lived till age 97.

12:27 pm

I don't get that Kap. Makes no sense to me.

12:27 pm

I have to laugh. this summer we have had so mny illegal immigrants caught coming across the Channel in rowboats and inflatables. We have the highest deathrate in Europe. It ought to be use going the other way!!

12:28 pm

it's maddening. i just read an article about a bar in southern florida - hundreds of young people partying without masks. i feel like i should cue up, 'i'm gonna miss you when you're gone'

12:29 pm

My grandmother had 7 sons and son in laws that fought in WW1 and all survived only foe some of them to die in the flu epidemic

12:29 pm

That's why young people are going to be vaccinated here before people my age (64). They are spreaders.

"Illegal immigrants" are not doing it for the fun of it. Unfortunately, the US no longer believes in amnesty. Maybe I'll be in the next inflatable to Finland- but what's up with Sweden?

12:29 pm

fact is, though, most of them will be okay - but how many will bring the virus home to their families, and to work to their colleagues, and to school to their classmates and teachers? ugh.

12:30 pm

I realise its not for the fun of it I just think we should escape by going the other way!!

I had pneumonia and presumptive covid in March- tested negative though, but the doctors said I obviously had it...after the hospital I was in bed for the month. If I had covid I caught it at a conference that I went to in Times Square in early March. I KNEW I didn't want to go

12:31 pm

Over here us oldies 'most vulnerable' will get vaccinated first. I'm 80 I'll be first in the queue!!

I agree. Where do we go to get away from Trumpism, which will outlast Trump long after he and his progeny are in prison.

12:32 pm

Those over 64 will be in the 2nd tier here (after first responders/medical workers). I have to wait until the 4th tier.

I hear Miramichi is nice and has almost no covid

12:33 pm

silo

12:33 pm

whoops so5!!

I am turning 65 next week, and am at risk because of the pneumonia, so maybe I'll be on the list---bust Boston has a lot of hospitals and front line people.

My husband is doing a clinical trial. He has to monitor the effects of a vaccine, or placebo, for two weeks. He thinks he got the real shot because he didn't feel well the next day. And he had a cold, so these people came to the house in HAZMAT suits to check on him.

I understand people have isolation fatigue but they have no right to put others at risk. People around here are good about masks though. Because we're Democrats?

12:41 pm

And not stupid?

12:41 pm

I work in a charity shop-now closed as 'non-essentil' but people would come in without a mask and say 'I'm exempt, I've got asthma' but tht is easy to say. They ere supposed to get a card from their doctors to prove it.

12:42 pm

orto

12:42 pm

The governors of CA past and present did a great public service announcement about wearing a mask a few months ago. I wish everyone would watch it and listen to them (both Democrats and Republicans).

12:43 pm

Ive done it again!! I'm going to stop chatting!!

I have a touch of asthma and some residual coughing but I can wear a mask. I am on ZOOM all day and so sick of seeing myself (I have to keep the image on screen to make sure I'm positioned right.) I have imagined all the places I would need botox.

Or stop gridding.

There are some interesting words in this grid. That's why I like bigger grids. I don't aim to finish.

12:45 pm

I hate seeing myself on camera. I usually turn the video off.

I just have to check for lighting. My office is yellow, and I always look green.

I have clients I have never met in person.

12:47 pm

me t 7 letters words!oo.Just about to give up and I saw two more

12:48 pm

do you know the meaning of the ts7,28?

might me the Yiddish- let me look for the word

Yep- Yiddish for Troubles and Aggravation

I just have the 6 though

12:51 pm

add an o in the middle - both words have no meaning

It might be a relative- does the 7 start like the 6?

they do, but in Yiddish.

Yep, both included. cig, they do have meaning, but incorporated into English like Yenta.

I suppose Enable is compensating for allowing racial slurs?

12:53 pm

I checked another alternative spelling. Most common usage replaces o's with u

12:53 pm

so the meaning gave me great ts.

Some Yiddish words are in Enable, as are some French words (there is one for a kind of Film) and sometimes there is Spanish. And Welsh.

exactly cig.

12:54 pm

have the ts 6, but don't see the 7 either

There are different Yiddish pronunciations depending on where in Germany, Russia or Poland the speaker came from

12:55 pm

double vowel in the middle...

Double vowel. Oops.

The Modern Hebrew word ends in a t, because they pronounce the letter differently.

12:56 pm

Kaplan, people like you are the reason I get rid of Chatterbox.

but that's not in the grid or Enable.

#201girl, what do you mean by that?

12:57 pm

just ignore....

12:57 pm

ty pen

was that a serious diss?

12:58 pm

ty pen

12:58 pm

i took a yiddish class once... friend wanted to go....i found some similarities with German....

12:58 pm

yw, nan....

12:58 pm

Kap....i meant to ignore the girl.....

It is very related to German and Hebrew. A mishmash, which s also a Yiddish word.

Penquis, is she a troll?

12:59 pm

I grew up in NY, so had a smattering of NY Yiddish (i.e. words that are in common parlance in NY). When I started learning German in school, I was highly amused to discover that Schmuck means jewellry in German.

There are people who trigger me, but I don't attack them. Sometimes I am talkative, sometimes not

12:59 pm

Any words I learned while working came from the Sephardic background. So Spanish, Greek mixed with Hebrew.

12:59 pm

hello friends. Could I have a nudge for the lone o, please? Just canNOT see it

schmuck means the same thing as putz

1:00 pm

wow -- didn't know mishmash was yiddish -- have heard it all my life and I had never met a Jewish person until we moved to Montreal when I was in my late 20's

Ladino. I have strong Sephardic roots.

I know. But in German it just means...jewellry. That tickled me.

1:00 pm

amazing how integrated language can become

1:00 pm

trif.....more greasy....

1:01 pm

for the love of god....thank you for having mercy on me, penquis. HATE when words hide

1:01 pm

yw....i had trouble finding that one, too.....

1:01 pm

i suspect you are just being kind, but thank you

That's why you weren't aware of "sewing down" as a slur---I had to realize it was lack of familiarity. I have a friend from OK who had never met a Jewish person before me either.

1:02 pm

nope....it's true....it's kind of squirrelly... ;o)

I think the thing to do is to build relationships. Sometimes people don't know what words mean to others.

cybernan are you familiar with Miramichi?

1:04 pm

no - isn't it a region somewhere in PQ?

Yeah, it looks like fairyland from the photos. I know someone there. It's in the PEI cluster. Almost no covid.

1:06 pm

so it's on PEI then?

No, but near I think

The climate is apparently the same as Boston, but it's much prettier.

1:08 pm

ok I was in Spain and was asked a question. I thought the woman was asking me if I wanted a man. I declined and found a different place to stay the next day. Years later at work the oldest person with the spanish/greek background asked me if I had hunger. Boy those word are close. I wish I could I am so sorry to the darling little spanish lady that rented me a room.

1:08 pm

Just looked it up -- it's in NB -- just across the bay from PEI

Oh. I am teaching myself Spanish and am at a more advanced level than I had been. I use several apps and drill myself on different vocabulary words every night. Estoy agobiada.

1:09 pm

but yes -- the maritime provinces have been limiting travel since March and have considerably fewer cases as a result. One must also keep in mind that the population is much smaller also. For example the population of PEI is about the same as the town I live in (150,000)

I don't think I cam use my Spanish in Canada. Hambriento is hungry. Hombre is man. Hombro is shoulder.

1:10 pm

I am waiting to travel to Canada. I want to visit friends in Nova Scotia.

And Trump had said there are some bad hombres here, but I don't know if he meant the hardy style or actual people.

1:11 pm

NS is a beautiful province -- we visited for the first time in fall of 1919 -- loved it in spite of the hurricane :)

Me too, and Montreal. I've never been there and it's in driving distance. Then I remember--pandemic.

1919 is a long time ago

hair style, Imeant

1:13 pm

I was close last fall but the hurricane kept me away also.

1:13 pm

hopefully once vaccines are widely distributed, our borders will be open again. That is assuming, of course, that 75% of the population is vaccinated.

It's supposed to be a grim winter.

1:16 pm

All we can do is grim and bare it and wear a mask!

1:18 pm

hope everyone hears you cig -- and wear the mask over the nose, not under it!

1:18 pm

Indeed!!

1:26 pm

and where is trump during all this mess..on the golf course...turned his back on the pandemic

1:36 pm

*thumbs up suzee*

1:39 pm

he doesn't care that a quarter of a million people are dead.. he'd rather spend frivilous time causing chaos in the courts and the country

1:40 pm

so true...can't wait for him to be GONE

well this is weird. I have a T missing but had them all checked on the list so I closed the list, reopened and copy/pasted the T's again. they are all checked on the list but still missing one here. I have refreshed here too.

1:42 pm

you don't have the missing T?

1:42 pm

Is it one of the two ts?

I must have it in my list, I copied it over to lickety's list

will try that again and see what happens

I have both the ts

ok, now I see the missing one on lickety. that was really weird.

now if I could just find it.

1:46 pm

tr6 /18 i am guessing

no, it was to6/18, and I feel pretty sure I did enter that one earlier. shenanigans.

1:47 pm

Trump is very much to blame for the current pandemic situation, but so are the people who won't wear masks, who are going home or getting together with others this week because it is Thanksgiving -- all are contrubting to the spread. And we are too, tor not telling these people to their face s to get with the program .

oh well, finished with the help of the list and a wordfinder. you all enjoy your doom and gloom fest.

1:48 pm

i'm staying home alone nan.. we're spiking here in California..

1:49 pm

so are we, ru -- not as badly as the states or even other provinces but the numbers are going up. We celebrated our thanksgiving with our family on zoom -- everyone in their own homes.

1:49 pm

my neighbors however are continuing to have lots of people over and backyard parties.

1:49 pm

it's all the people he gets fired up that are doing all the spreading

1:50 pm

That happens here and it is an automatic fine that ncreases with every offense.

1:50 pm

somewhat true suzee.. a lot of them do what he says to do

1:52 pm

i wonder how many elderly deaths will be on the hands of that idiot (radiologist) who said families should be together for the holiday

1:53 pm

Wow, Carla is right. It is kind of doom and gloom in here.

1:53 pm

Dr. Atlas.. atlas shrugged

1:54 pm

i do feel gloomy today

1:56 pm

Sorry to hear that. Maybe it's time for a bourbon and some Rev. Green : D

1:57 pm

Rev.Green?

1:57 pm

It's easy to feel gloomy when the skies are grey and you haven't visited face to face with any of your friends for a month and the highlights of your week are facetime with the kids. If it makes you feel better about yourself, just think of those who have no home, no food, no heat and nowhere to go.

1:57 pm

that would help molly

1:57 pm

Al Green

1:57 pm

ok

1:58 pm

Tired of Being Alone should be the theme song for 2020

1:59 pm

The lost year

1:59 pm

All by Myself. :D

1:59 pm

(puts eric carr earworm in mollys ear)

2:00 pm

eric carmen maybe?

2:18 pm

Thing is, people don't need to be all alone. There are distanced ways to get together. Ru and Origami had one recently.

2:19 pm

And families can get together for the holidays. Just in a responsible way.

2:20 pm

molly - we are locked down by provincial order. No visiting even with distancing unless it is outdoors - and then only in passing. Also it is only about 37F out right now.

2:21 pm

Yes cybernan. I have a roof, a garden, heat and medical. Of course you also have medical thanks to Tommy Douglas. I walk with friends. 3 friends have had their husbands die recently so once in a while we chat about the tidal ebb & flows of emotions. I had friends over after the election and we sat out side bundled up and drank champagne.

2:21 pm

Really Nan? From what you have said, I thought Canda was doing stellar with COVID and it was only the evil US that still had bad numbers.

2:23 pm

we are molly - and that is the reason why -- our governments have kept control. But after the curve flattened during the summer months, things started to open up and now the numbers are rising, so we have another shut down.

2:24 pm

MollyL you need some news options. New Zealand and Australia are doing stellar. Africa is doing better than the US. Cybernan are you in balmy BC at 37F?

2:25 pm

we have a mild micro-climate here, but it is still chilly. The surrounding mounaings are covered in snow, so when the wind blows, it gets cold.

2:26 pm

News options? I was going on what Nan has said here, not the news.

2:27 pm

I live on an island in the Puget Sound area. I see the snow in the mountains and the wind can blow. It's great.

2:31 pm

there is bad and there is terrible, molly. Our province has a population of about 5 million. During the summer we were averaging about 30 new cases per day, over the last month that has risen to 500 new cases perday so the provincial health authority decided it was time to knock that down again.

2:34 pm

maybe you guys should try golfing nan.. it seems to be working for Trump :D

2:34 pm

In the southern interior, where I live, we were getting now new cases in the summer with no one hospitalized, now we have around 25 new cases daily and there are 34 people in hospital -- those stats cover a population of 750,000

2:34 pm

*no new cases during the summer

2:38 pm

lol - the golf course is supposed to open again tomorrow, but then there is snow forecast for Wednesday.

2:38 pm

we've packed our clubs away for the winter.

2:39 pm

5:36 pm

Hey, has anyone in the US decided to follow the suggestion of having Thanksgiving in July (or some other time when there is maybe a bit more to celebrate, e.g. a vaccine)?

some kind of party when this pandemic is over -- yes -- probably not going to call it thanksgiving though

5:38 pm

I think the idea was to avoid having a big celebration now that could make things worse.

5:39 pm

I know many people can't imagine skipping Thanksgiving, but maybe postponing is a bit more palatable.

getting close to other people and eating with them is about the best way to spread this bug

5:40 pm

Yes, unfortunately

further, we still don't have a good, accurate test for this bug

5:43 pm

We've already had our Thanksgiving, but things are now getting steadily worse in Alberta, and the provincial government is obviously reluctant to try another big lock-down, even though we're getting close to filling the space that was allocated for COVID in the hospitals.

sorry to hear. i'm in Michigan and our numbers are spiking here too

i might eat some processed turney lunchmeat this week and call it a day LOL

5:46 pm

Well, you could still have a nice meal, I expect, and catch up with some people on Zoom, maybe.

my puter has no camera and my phone is so old it can barely play a video, so I'm not zooming (but I can watch a zoom even on my puter)

event, not even

5:56 pm

hi again -- back for the last 13

5:57 pm

back for my 45...

5:57 pm

5:59 pm

6:00 pm

hi welki

6:00 pm

we're not locked down, pen - your son and daughter in law are just smart

6:00 pm

lots of snow in the foothills?

6:01 pm

we should be, though, but like gillie said, our premier is 'reluctant' to shut us down again. not too much snow; the mountains are covered and beautiful, though

6:01 pm

(son and daughter, not daughter in law, sorry)

hiya welki and everyone in the chat!!

Hi welki, nan and all! I just finished my grid, took a peek at the chat and saw some Alberta "stuff"

we have idiot fascist gun nuts trying to kidnap our governor and crazy shit in Michigan (thank goodness they have been caught)

Hi all

(*almost* the same meaning)

8:59 pm

I'm sure that is a great clue. I must be too tired to get it. ta

9:01 pm
