how many b words?

10:05 am

never mind

10:06 am

I had to go look up with the abbreviation was - I had the word but didn't know the abbreviation ;)

10:12 am

what do you all call it over there? I know you do it.

10:13 am

found 2 4's but still have 5! must be really weird ones or really easy ones. :D

10:14 am

Oh, I knew it would be something cutesy. British Summer Time

10:14 am

LOL

10:15 am

lol - or GMT+1

10:15 am

I was hoping for Peaky Blinders though

10:16 am

I live in EST zone - Eastern Standard Time, but in DST it's EDT for Eastern Daylight Time. Just an FYI for Wendrie. :D. speaking of which, I believe it starts this coming weekend?

10:17 am

Not here - last weekend in March, last weekend in October

10:17 am

they keep making it longer here

10:18 am

They're talking about getting rid of it here too

10:18 am

though I thought it had changed to first weekend it Mar. I guess not.

10:18 am

I'd rather keep EDT and get rid of EST.

10:19 am

Me too. I hate it when it's dark at freakin' 5:00.

10:22 am

ugh, the worst

10:23 am

in good news it is 68 degrees here right now. think I will walk the dog and come back later for last 12.

10:23 am

It's pouring with rain, I'm staying inside :)

10:23 am

don't blame you!

10:24 am

we've actually gone about a week without any, so our swamp yard is almost dry.

10:25 am

went disc golfing yesterday with winston and it was still very muddy in some spots in the woods.

10:25 am

TTFN

10:27 am

*Wonders what Winston's handicap is

10:28 am

no opposable thumbs ;)

11:01 am

i had to look up the abbreviation as well wasnt what i was thinking

11:03 am

hate daylight savings time.. i hate it

11:04 am

which reminds me, dont we "spring forward" soon?

11:05 am

12:42 pm

12:42 pm

12:42 pm

yes, stop being so diluted

12:43 pm

I have so many un words that are apparently not real

12:45 pm

there's the N! 11

12:46 pm

unbelievable

12:47 pm

not the U, the N

12:47 pm

yeah, two of the u words are literally uns but not "not" words

12:47 pm

yeah i got two un but have tried so many more than that which did not work

12:48 pm

yes, that's what I was saying.

12:48 pm

do you have all three now? my two are 4s

12:48 pm

there's the Y! 10

12:48 pm

woot

12:49 pm

there's the T! 9

12:49 pm

terrific!

12:49 pm

it was Cagney or Lacey

12:49 pm

and belated "yay!"

12:51 pm

was the p you found a 7?

12:52 pm

just saw your question, hurshy. hate it when posts sneak in. no, I still need a U and yes, I have 2 un4.

12:53 pm

moo has the 3rd U but isn't sharing

12:54 pm

Amazing how much easier it is to do the puzzle when I'm awake. Last night at midnight I just couldn't see anything.

12:55 pm

The UN5 is a math kind of word

12:56 pm

true, joy. and usually at 1am(for me) I literally can't see on my ipad unless I have readers on

12:56 pm

thank you, looking now

12:56 pm

not unarc as I have tried that more than once

12:57 pm

where I live flip occurs at 10 pm so I keeping thinking I can finish at night, but no...

12:58 pm

unarc is close, though

12:58 pm

it's 1am for me so I really have no business staying up that late. :D

1:00 pm

oHO it is a un5/16

got it, thanks both

tried everything close to unarc except that. just needed the point total. LOL

anyone want to guess my missing L?

found the R's! 6 left!

there's an S! 5

1:08 pm

did you get the latin pl of ly4

1:08 pm

i mean ly5

1:08 pm

if you have that maybe it is le5/16

nope thanks

I knew it had to be another ly but couldn't think of that ending for some reason

4 left, half are 4's

G S P H

1:19 pm

GH for me

what was the P, please?

1:20 pm

an adverb that doesn't seem like it'd be an adverb

1:20 pm

hasbeer - an aging star who is wallowing in alcohol

I have a p adverb already. P5? legit word

LOL

1:21 pm

then perhaps "father"

nope, that is a usual suspect but I found it today

1:21 pm

you're missing a 5?

1:21 pm

noodles?

2x4, 1x5, 1x7

1:22 pm

oh, then may be a 4...

1:22 pm

top of head-y

it was a 4, lumber company, no idea what the def is

so, yes, that one

1:23 pm

:)

1:23 pm

found by g...should've had that one earlier

4 5 or 7?

1:24 pm

based on my list of interests

1:24 pm

5

or I'm missing a different G

1:24 pm

I guess the piece of ice that took down the titanic is now a hasberg

so the 7 is definitely an H?

1:24 pm

yeah

that girl hastyle

1:26 pm

and that athlete hadrace

I have tried hadrace at least 3x

so my G & S are either 4 or 5

1:27 pm

found it

1:28 pm

Could be a motto for Texas I guess ;)

point total p&ty?

got it somehow

1:29 pm

7/32

1:29 pm

fw btw

nicely done

still G & S here. have 3 g5 and 4 s5

1:30 pm

tx, no clues today...which was nice...but an easier board

1:30 pm

the g5s are all common words

I guess somewhat easier but still a lot of work for me to get this far

1:31 pm

there's one s5 that is uncommon

1:31 pm

well there's 158 words...that's work

sa5/14?

1:31 pm

yeah...think Puck

I have an sa5/14

I think I only saw one clue today that led to a pair

oh, forgot the UN help

1:34 pm

oh, you have sa5/14

1:34 pm

am i having a mis-remembering moment or do people used "tanked" to mean drunk?

1:34 pm

it's true hursh

they do

1:35 pm

mk thanks

1:35 pm

so what are you missing then hoke

LOL, no idea. S or G, 4 or 5

have literally tried every possible 4 from both

1:35 pm

gr5, a bird, perhaps?

1:35 pm

that's a 5/18

1:36 pm

A childs parents parents are her gr***parents

ok, do not appear to have a gr5/18

1:37 pm

well it's a bird

1:37 pm

for real

1:37 pm

not a plane or superman

1:38 pm

that was the one I said I should've found earlier based on my interests :)

1:38 pm

was my last g

1:38 pm

What? You are not familiar with Podicipedidae? You must be kidding. : D

yes, I just put that together. :D

1:39 pm

Please send me a clue for the U. Ty.

1:39 pm

they all start with the same 2 letters mkg, but only one of them is a "not" word

1:40 pm

Ty. Stats please. That should help. Ty

on a call now!

1:41 pm

un 4/5, un 5/16 and un 4/18

1:41 pm

actually none of them are "not" words :)

1:42 pm

Ugh. Ty. Struggling.

1:42 pm

first one is a babblet

1:42 pm

Just got a un 4 8

1:42 pm

second one sounds like a singular organization/body

1:43 pm

ah yes, sorry wrote the stats wrong on the last one

ah, found the S!

1:43 pm

I'm guessing that is pantaloons for one legged folks

1:43 pm

nice hoke

1:44 pm

Got the un 4 5. Awful words.

you'd think I could monkey this g5

1:46 pm

Missing other tiles too. Darn. Not an easy grid.

1:50 pm

birdie rhymes with a dork/nerd/dw___

well I tried greeb 3 times before that clue

1:51 pm

you have the letters out of order

aha, thanks. never have seen that before.

1:52 pm

it is a bird

1:52 pm

:D

so, FW, minimal help today, but thanks to the helpers

1:52 pm

Any clues for the Y third column? Thanks.

1:52 pm

chinese currency

I've heard it's a bird

1:53 pm

Yuen is chinese money so why wont it take it??/

1:53 pm

spelling it wrong

1:53 pm

The chinese spell it with the E. This stupid grid says another vowel. But the chinese are right.

1:53 pm

Anyway i got it. Ty

1:54 pm

the chinese spell it with their own characters

1:54 pm

not an E

1:54 pm

Last blank is no sevens yet. Stats welcome.

1:54 pm

it is nonsensical to say they spell it with an e, and i've only ever seen it spelled with an a

1:55 pm

Ok.

1:55 pm

i just got my first 7, it's st and it's an adverb

1:55 pm

I just got that one too huyrshy. T

1 is a plural

2:00 pm

I've only even known it to be spelled the way it is in the dictionary. If you go to currency sites like xe.com they spell it that way

2:00 pm

But given that you're translating from another character set and language, then I can imagine there are multiple spellings

2:08 pm

plural... what does it start with?

2:12 pm

c

co

2:12 pm

oh good i need that pair to grey the top

2:14 pm

got em

2:28 pm

the last 7 is the toughest one

4:02 pm

Hello, Babble world!!

4:03 pm

Periwinkle, I would help if I could

4:03 pm

I only finished my first puzzle yesterday!

4:03 pm

I am a serious amateur

4:03 pm

st7 is related to st5/10

4:03 pm

I bet you'll figure it out :)

a mansion might be called st7

4:04 pm

ty carla and Gillie

hello, mty, everyone. just in and out here.

4:08 pm

Hello :)

4:08 pm

and thank you all for the clues -- but I admit I still need to figure the clues out! haha

4:09 pm

I will one day be as expert as you all are.

4:12 pm

I insist on it!

definitely the more you play the better you get

4:36 pm

was so excited that I found the ra8 until I realized there's no 8.

4:38 pm

18 for later

5:04 pm

clydas

5:04 pm

Whoops!! Well, it is a word made up by me anyway. You won't find it in the puzzle, just to clarify ;)

5:11 pm

:)

5:14 pm

ugh, and then you have those times where you're just missing one little T4 and it shouldn't be hard yet you simply cannot find it

5:15 pm

Is it the ty4, if I may ask?

5:15 pm

If it is, that's kind of funny - because I am stuck on one of those right now!

5:15 pm

well, idk, i have 2 ty4, so it depends on whether there is a third one

5:15 pm

Oh. Nevermind. :)

5:16 pm

I am just struggling with a simple one, then

5:16 pm

Haha! I wish I could help you!

5:16 pm

one is actress Daly

5:16 pm

the other is an alt (Brit) spelling of the rubber thing on your car

5:17 pm

Ah! I got it

5:17 pm

I believe it was the one associated with your first clue

5:18 pm

Man. I admit a bunch of these I didn't know are even words

5:18 pm

i've seen her live in a theater, she's amazing

5:18 pm

yeah that's how i felt when i first joined the site. you think you know most words and then there are all these weird things

5:18 pm

I honestly am not familiar with the name

5:18 pm

That is so neat :)

5:18 pm

I need to look her up

5:19 pm

i guess she's most famous for Cagney and Lacey

5:19 pm

she was in "Christy" too

5:19 pm

and i saw her in an adaptation of The Importance of Being Earnest

5:20 pm

Good morning all

5:20 pm

morning liz

5:20 pm

Wow - good morning to you!

5:21 pm

the grid is tormenting me with one last T4 that i have now resorted to trying things like "TYOY" for

5:21 pm

You must be on the other side of the world from where I am

5:21 pm

Whereabouts are you all located, if I may pry?

5:21 pm

Yes - in Australia - 9.21 am where I am

5:21 pm

I reside on the East Coast of the USA. Near Washington, D.C

5:21 pm

yep, that there be the aussie flag, mty :)

5:21 pm

Queensland

5:21 pm

It is almost six-thirty in the evening here

5:21 pm

Aha! Neat :)

5:22 pm

Babble is truly international

5:22 pm

It's Thursday there now, correct?

5:22 pm

howdy all!

5:22 pm

Hi jbp

5:22 pm

Yes - Thursday here

5:22 pm

That's one thing that is so interesting and cool about these sites

5:23 pm

people from all over the world collect here!

5:24 pm

Babble is the only one of these games I play - no time for others. I like it for the game and because it's generally friendly.

5:25 pm

not in today's grid: cadre. You're welcome. ;-)

5:25 pm

if torturous

5:25 pm

At times!

5:27 pm

Fireworks

5:27 pm

yay, Lizlin!

5:27 pm

ok WHAT is my missing T4 liz?

5:27 pm

Can I help with any clues before I go?

5:27 pm

Thanks

5:27 pm

yes yes yes

where on east coast are you, mty?

hey lizlin, and well done!

5:27 pm

it is a third row T and i'm literally trying TDNU

5:28 pm

you wouldn't happen t want to clue me for the 4th column, 4th row a?

5:28 pm

ah, nevermind, i finally got it

5:28 pm

Thanks and hi Carla

at4/5 and 5/12

5:28 pm

5:28 pm

Well done, Lizlin!!

5:28 pm

I am near Washington, D.C. :)

5:28 pm

Thanks

5:28 pm

mty have you met dcseain?

5:29 pm

ty 4 x 2 jbp

5:29 pm

I think I might have - yesterday :)

5:29 pm

Here, that is

5:29 pm

not in the flesh!! Haha

5:29 pm

well, it's not "atsa" as in 'atsa spicy meatball!"

5:29 pm

yeah that's what i meant

5:30 pm

i've only met three babblers in person

5:30 pm

got it, thanks Liz

5:30 pm

and i've been babbling for 15 years

molly is also around there, maybe mkg, I know there are some others.

I've never met anyone!

5:31 pm

Don't know if there are others in Queensland but I've also met 2 babblers.

5:32 pm

OK - time for me to get my day going. Have a good evening / night / day everyone.

5:32 pm

i met someone in Germany who knows someone I know there, in Hamburg. totally zany

5:32 pm

well, i met sprite in amsterdam and atalante in london and bex in newcastle. i wish i knew how/what bex is doing these days as a grown-up

5:32 pm

I've been babbling from the womb

5:32 pm

I also met Sprite in Amsterdam

5:32 pm

oh...not that kind of babbling, huh?

5:32 pm

just teasing. Bad joke.

bye liz!

5:33 pm

That's really neat, though. Was it intentional, meeting them in person?

5:33 pm

I'm out too. will try and be back to finish

it's entirely possible I have met another babbler and didn't know

5:33 pm

And be safe and have a blessed day, Lizlin :)

5:33 pm

yes, of course. i'm in the US so when i visited europe i arranged to meet them

5:33 pm

Pleased to meet you all here

5:33 pm

You as well, JBp

5:33 pm

Jbp

5:33 pm

atalante and i had tea at the Ritz :D

I forgot where on east coast you are, hurshy

5:34 pm

that is because i leave it as vague as possible as often as possible :D

guess I didn't forget then ;)

I did 'meet" someone here once that lives very near me part of the year, but now I can't even remember who that was.

greetings all

6:43 pm

Was it SueFrad Carla?

6:43 pm

greeting, Book Doctor!!

6:43 pm

*Greetings

uhh, maybe. I think she lived in FL part of the year.

howdy gwen!

wazap mty ??

6:44 pm

Man. I feel like a real cheat taking great advantage of Lickety split's Clues

6:44 pm

Am I the only one who can only make reasonable progress with the aide of Lickety's Clues?

lots of us use Lickety -- I try to get about 2/3 done by myself first though LOL

look at it as a learning tool. the more you play the less you'll need to use it.

6:44 pm

SueFrad is my sister. She lives part-time in NC, part-time in FL.

6:45 pm

That's a lot of hard work you put in!!

then it probably was her!

6:45 pm

Especially compared to me

6:45 pm

Haha

6:45 pm

How long have you played here?

6:45 pm

I have met a few people in person, at a meet-up once, and then a few others and I have been babbling for 16 years.

6:46 pm

Does it really take a lot of practice, or am I just a lot dimmer than I thought I was?

6:46 pm

I guess that's unfair to ask here. You might need to actually know me to answer that!

6:46 pm

Everyone Babbles differently! I don't list at all, or use Lickety and never have. I rarely finish, usually get half done, and I am good with that.

looks like I started in 2005, but I played for many years and then took quite a few off and just came back about 3 years ago(?). it was really rough when I came back at first, so I made a goal of trying to finish a certain % before using the list.

I still like to use the list because I'm dying to know what I couldn't find and hope to learn new words and then hopefully I'll remember them next time.

the more you play, the more you learn the weird little words that show up a lot, and your brain gets better at seeing the longer words too

but have not needed it 2 or 3 times this week

6:51 pm

Thank you all for the encouragement. :)

6:51 pm

I really cannot emphasize that enough

6:51 pm

I'll get there one day.

nbt

I also start top left and work L-R, top to bottom and try to get half on each tile before moving on to the next.

6:55 pm

Have fun and Babble on, mty!

stuck on ha5/14, and I'm too lazy to look it up help?
