3:16 am

Are you OK?

3:17 am

That is so good to hear. Thanks for the clue.

3:17 am

off the oxycodone completely. trundling along on high dose tyelenol.

3:18 am

Aw, Babe, I am so proud of you.

3:18 am

rared

3:19 am

oops, free clue

3:21 am

hi rose- so glad gapeach needed the clue - Ilm not used to seeing you so late. I'm off to work. Delighted to know you are trundling. g'night or day, whatever

3:21 am

yeah, waist down is terrific. torn biceps tendon just about healed with no surgical intervention. hence the gardening. just another six roses to go. have pruned two ramblers, and low spreading one, and my cecil brunner tea-rose. Don went into battle with that one and won...loll. it's now sulking on the other side of our yard. trying to clear all around house, ready for painters.

3:22 am

xx jwr.

3:23 am

thanks for the picture of a sulking rose! IHow "no surgical intervention"?

3:23 am

*gives delighted wriggle* found another 8 all on my ownsome.

3:24 am

and XX to you,m'dear

3:25 am

i knew the time difference was negligible. and with surgical intervention, the docs would have tried to fill me up on the oxycodone. so cold packs +++++ it has been.

3:26 am

That's why I don't look at the chat much -- to many clues (and too few good ones like you and ruru and a few others do. It's a rare find for me too, but I strut - which is hard to do sitting down

3:26 am

said cecil brunner is used to being 8-10 feet tall. now only 12 inches. in a new raised bed of its own.

3:26 am

WOW! How long has it taken, Rose:

3:27 am

giggle

3:27 am

**Hugs** to Rose!

3:28 am

not the rose, your healing

3:28 am

it was planted when MIL Mac moved in as she loved roses as much as i did. she died 2013, so that makes it planted about 2005.

3:29 am

then it's a wonderful memory for you

3:29 am

oh, the healing.... it's now about 12 weeks. with an injection under ultrasound at four weeks. another 4 weeks and i should be good again.

3:30 am

coming along nicely without surgery and such. It must be the roses!

3:31 am

3:31 am

3:32 am

3:32 am

kiss (under mask, of course)

3:33 am

or "ta"

3:33 am

or jillibus: poof

3:44 am

3:44 am

Excellent. I am so over all this (though understand, I agree entirely with the vaccine, lockdowns - the UK did great with vaccines and terribly with everything else) - I am just personally tired

3:46 am

we all are matty

3:47 am

California has been doing a terrible job with vaccines. I still don't have mine.

I know. Outdoor dining and non-essential shops open on Monday. I don't care about the shops - I am very much looking forward to a pint

3:50 am

Most people in large cities have been able to get their vax, but rural areas just can't keep up - they advertise the vax is available, but by the time I see the ad, there aren't any available unless I want to drive 50+ miles and hope they're still available.

Well, the US doesn't have a centralised system, really - in Pennsylvania, where my brother lives, you have to look at each individual provider/location to see if there are appointments - there is no central resource

4:01 am

time for me to go. dinner due. love and hugs to all. kam, i will be in touch soon darling. and matty, keep that chin up. i'll have one for you tomorrow....loll

Hi all. Jumping in. I must say we in Israel are vax leaders. They are talking about taking off the mask requirement. Majority of the adult population is either recovered, vaccinated or both. Just had my dance group, First time in a year we could see each other and touch hands.

Actually more like 15 months.

4:46 am

Meanwhile in Palestine....

US residents can us VAMS. https://vams.cdc.gov/ It's not perfect, but does have many of the locations and allows appointments.

Sounds great, Player!

Fantastic grid!

6:21 am

it is a fun grid - only have time to begin it though...

6:34 am

mole

6:34 am

Oops. Good morning everyone. :)

mornin

6:57 am

Morning Crossy & Greyhound. :-)

6:58 am

Hi Soods, IG, crossy

7:03 am

Hey Bich

7:08 am

Got my second shot yesterday

7:14 am

Oh lucky you, Bich. The roll-out here has been very slow - hampered by delays in getting the vaccines into the country. We're being promised a more efficient service in the second quarter of the year.

7:16 am

I've had both

7:18 am

Are you in the US, Jeanius?

7:19 am

Yes, Chicago area

7:20 am

I don't think I'll get my first shot till July.

7:58 am

8:06 am

8:11 am

mornin

8:11 am

hi mool

8:11 am

Hey IG, peri

8:11 am

what does di 8 pertain to?

8:13 am

separation of two vowels into two syllables

8:15 am

plural?

8:15 am

yes

8:15 am

I need help with the di9

8:16 am

I need help with the di9

d + 3 vowels

8:16 am

8:19 am

thanks

8:27 am

two hundred down.. tough grid

8:27 am

monkeys still not finding the di8

I just started and have struggled to find 9 s's. now with ru calling it tough, maybe I should just quit. ;)

8:28 am

barrel

8:28 am

sorry

8:29 am

I know, when the Rainman of Babble says a grid is tough, I am like "why bother"?

8:29 am

:D dorens

exactly

Lots fun words, tho

8:29 am

true

8:29 am

di9 ends almost like the chocolate peanut butter candy

8:29 am

I thought Dorens was just loading beer into the PB

8:30 am

definitely fun. I'm down to 90 and have to leave. Having frineds for lunch. Here. In my house!

8:30 am

it'd be a barrel of wine though molly

8:30 am

I read the definition of that di9 and it made my head hurt

I hope they taste good

8:31 am

(sorry for typos, sliced my thumb last night on a manadoline. true about the wine, ru

I found a di8 by trying bea's clue

8:31 am

mu friends are all quite delicious carla.

8:32 am

i am afraid of mandolins

8:32 am

mandoline?

8:32 am

Add another vowel at the beginning to get the 9, Carla.

they're less scary than fiddles

8:32 am

i like my finger tips where they are

8:32 am

you should be. it comes with a fingerguard. I stupidly decided i didn't need it for a few radishes.

8:33 am

yikes

8:33 am

i can slice pretty thin with a sharp fileting knife.. i have avoided mandolins

thx bea

8:34 am

took 30mminutes for the bleeding to stop. all things considered i'm pretty lucky. And it's been sitting in my drawer for a while. too bad i decided to usse it last night

almost spit out my coffee because i pictured your fingertip sitting in the drawer

8:34 am

sorry doren.. sounds painful

hope it heals soon!

8:35 am

well, i'm off to finish the radishes. WITH the fingerguard this time. it's not too bad now, ru, last night was ddreadful. thanks for the good laugh carla. fiinger is intact!

good to hear

8:36 am

Good morning, all. Dorens turned her mandoline into a guillotine.

8:37 am

she was giving tips on cooking for hokie

8:37 am

hey hoke

morning judi

8:37 am

I have avoided mandolines for just this reason.

moo!

8:37 am

had early call this morning so started early

8:37 am

Now I'm picturing Dan Ackroyd doing that French Chef bit where he's bleeding all over the place

well, ru has declared this a tough one so molly and I thought about running away from it

isn't he doing Julia Child?

8:38 am

i hate that first minute after you realize what you've done

8:38 am

well got through my first 194 words

8:38 am

Yes, but the character was called The French Chef

ah

8:39 am

I want to know what the hell happened with A2Z Wordfinder. They changed their format and now I can't look up anything. Bastards!

I have found 44 words. only 277 left!

yeah, it's horrible now

8:39 am

i know >... I hate it too judi

8:39 am

you have to click on index and then on the right it brings up the menu

I just don't go there

8:40 am

Hi all.

8:41 am

Any clues for the 9? Thanks.

8:41 am

sure is a lot of B's in this

8:41 am

This proves the old adage, if it ain't broke, don't fix it

8:41 am

I have a DE 8, not a di.

8:41 am

(knew that was coming).. clued below mkg

one time my youngest was like 13 or 14 and I decided he could cut his own orange into slices. he agreed and then immediately sliced into his finger.

8:42 am

I will post the daily "read over the chat for clues"

omg, you had to point out the 51 b's! I was blissfully ignorant.

8:42 am

And I will repeat it, Molly...

8:42 am

197 left. I quit. See y'all tomorrow.

8:42 am

100 left

8:42 am

Should have been 52 B's

I will say the first word I saw when I got here was a ba6

8:43 am

I have 29 B's

8:43 am

felt like a drink already?

I have 5 but I'm still on first row technically

that was it, moo

8:44 am

I have 38 B's so far

8:44 am

just a wild guess :)

8:44 am

38 b's here.. but running out of things to try

I have grayed 2 tiles :D

8:44 am

39

8:46 am

40 :D

too many duplicate letters in this grid

dang I feel like I need to skip down to B

8:46 am

Some of the B's are ridicuolous

they usually are

8:47 am

just b's tho....all the rest are normal ;)

8:47 am

Sorry to say not understanding the clues. Darn. Di 8 and 9 right?

they look like they might sound like journals teenage gollum would write in

8:49 am

I have no di words and dont see them.

8:54 am

I just monkeyed the 9! Wow. Amazing. It is a medical term i think.

I knew you could do it

8:55 am

Ty carla. I doubted it. But cant find the di 7 . Oh well. Still trying to get half way and nbt.

8:55 am

up to 41 B's

I found 31 and then went back to the 2nd row

8:57 am

it's the tile I have the most left on

8:57 am

all 51 b's

8:57 am

Wish ibid was a word. Oh well.

well, probably me too, since I have 18 left :D

8:57 am

you completed your B's ru?

ru, are you smug?

8:57 am

Ruru you have all 51? Wonderful.

8:57 am

8:58 am

Good going ruru

8:58 am

rurusmugs

8:58 am

hello

8:58 am

nice going

8:58 am

hey ML

I think it's techincally an abbreviation, not that enable doesnt take plenty of those

morning mlfan

8:58 am

morning hokie

8:59 am

we use a lot of abbreviations as words

8:59 am

even some acronyms

what is rasta? I feel like I missed a post

8:59 am

whew first column greyed

8:59 am

good morning!

It certainly feels like a word to me, yes. As good as mayo for sure

8:59 am

mkg was groaning about ibid

9:00 am

Great mlfan

I will be smug as well.

lol, nice bea

9:00 am

Great going bea!

9:00 am

Dens

9:01 am

Oops sorry

I love when "men" is in the grid so we can see which ones enable takes and which ones it doesn't, like deermen.

9:01 am

or bedmen

bedmen

or beardmen

snap ru!

9:02 am

you owe me a coke rasta

Next time I head to Santo Rosa ru!

9:05 am

you noticed that too hokie?lol

just went on a roll and found 4 of them

9:06 am

I can't believe no one said "Well, hello dolly"

9:06 am

not so bird brained after all then

9:06 am

I am missing that bottom corner i .......just not seeing any in words and cant see others either.

9:06 am

awww thank you Molly!!

am I chopped liver, molly?

9:06 am

the two I have are not common mkg

9:06 am

No, I mean after you said "hello Dolly" (it's the song)

9:07 am

LOL

I was singing the song when I typed it

9:07 am

It's so nice to have you back where you belong...Dolly probably knows it because people probably sing it to her as much as people sing Good Golly Miss Molly to me

9:07 am

i need stats for the 4th column e the one under the u please?

9:07 am

LOL you girls are making me chuckle

en5/6/6

an 8 or A8?

9:17 am

Did you find the di8?

9:18 am

bzz yes i found di 8 thinking it as going ot be the di9

9:18 am

Add another vowel for the 9

9:19 am

at the end?

4th gray tile - but all the tiles I've grayed just have 3 words :D

9:20 am

No at the beginning

9:20 am

i have 2 greyed

aha, found that last E from the 5 in the middle

9:21 am

'cause I don't think I did anything

9:31 am

R's gray...16 left.

9:32 am

has anyone found any words ending in loch ****?

9:32 am

yes

nice, bea. I still need a lot of R's

9:32 am

ty bzz

9:34 am

remless - without sleep

9:40 am

OM6 clue pls?

the om4 apparently can be used as a verb

haven't made it down there yet

9:40 am

think Damiened

thanks dauber, weird tense

9:40 am

who is damiened?

there is a movie called the om4 with a character named damien

so, look at the clue again

9:41 am

ogt it

9:41 am

got

you can pt that noun but not be4 (a little hill on a trail or something)

funny, when you click the def of be4, they show it also as a verb and use pt in the sentence. good one, enable.

9:45 am

i have 2 be 4's

I have 6, but only 1 means what I said :D

9:46 am

oh

9:47 am

You have all the be4's Carla.

9:48 am

bzz you finished?

9:49 am

congrats hokie

lol, for what? I have accomplished nothing here today! :D

9:51 am

one tile with the most lacking out of all of them?

9:51 am

i have 4 tiles greyed

9:53 am

ib6

9:54 am

ty hokie

9:54 am

ty!

9:54 am

not that i know of

9:56 am

in the same book or chapter

9:56 am

thats what google said

9:56 am

np jhp

why do we need a word for that?

9:57 am

to help clear the tile?

9:57 am

that's prolly not what you meant tho, carla

9:57 am

thats about it lol

9:57 am

To make it easier and more efficient when writing footnotes and other citations.

9:57 am

hokie we have a lot of weird words in this grid everyday almost

9:58 am

my phantom: enema. And this means I need coffee.

9:58 am

The abbreviation of the ib6 is a perfectly common word in scholarly books and articles.

just used a reverse dictionary, thx. and I guess you are right, vicuna

9:59 am

i had only ever seen it in the abbreviated form

I suppose that is what mkg was complaining about earlier

I obviously don't read a lot of scholarly books and articles :D

10:00 am

gtg will be back

10:01 am

bye mlfan

10:04 am

ok, just have one E left on the bottom for the whole bottom row

10:09 am

Yeah Carla, I can't say I read scholarly books and articles either

10:10 am

:D

10:11 am

Although I did learn the abbreviated term when I learned to write footnotes for stupid papers in high school

10:11 am

I don't remember that at all

10:11 am

not you, but me ;)

10:21 am

well, this is a slog. 68 left. I don't know about ru and bea. did they really finish without a list? they never say. people shouldn't know that many words. ;)

The DI6/7 is a horcrux!

12:30 pm

you know how those wacky brits like to add vowels in

12:30 pm

thanks, didn't have those!

12:31 pm

have no idea what a horcrux is

12:31 pm

It's from Harry Potter

12:31 pm

unless it is some kind of crown

12:31 pm

help on the ME6/24? the one after very small

12:32 pm

it is a crown, but horcruxes can be anything

12:33 pm

Keep wanting to enter bemuse!

12:33 pm

ah, hokie, you're an HP fan!

12:33 pm

not sure ibuxx, I have 5 me6/24 but don't know very small

12:34 pm

stumped on that di 9

12:34 pm

of course, joy!

12:34 pm

me 5-6: french shit(s)

12:34 pm

nan, it ends in the plural form of female sibling

12:35 pm

then there are the guys who live under the sea

12:35 pm

ibuxx....me 6/24....it's not the me4, it's not the average, it's the me6.....a statistical term....

12:36 pm

oh, now I see what "very small" means, yes, I think it is the male make-believe sea creature

12:36 pm

don't see that carla -- there are no sisses

12:37 pm

yes, but how do make a sis pl, as in crisis

12:37 pm

think back to that lone e

12:37 pm

I tried that - not working

12:38 pm

beginning looks kinda like journals

12:38 pm

someone who passes away + the 4

12:38 pm

I must be missing a letter in there somewhere

12:38 pm

is there a double letter?

12:38 pm

for the 8

12:38 pm

and then for the 9 add the english spelling

12:39 pm

moos' clue for the 8 is good, then add an unnecessary vowel

12:39 pm

do double letters

12:39 pm

do=no

12:40 pm

the definition is a bit self-referential

12:40 pm

do or do not :D

12:40 pm

now I am really confused -- the 9 and the 8 begin with the same 3 letters? -- are we talking the 8 that follows expired?

12:40 pm

di 8...to no longer live + sounds like a kind of monkey but with the ending that has been discussed here....

12:40 pm

the 9 just adds a vowel in the third position....

12:40 pm

no, the 9's 3rd letter is the unnecessary brit addition

12:40 pm

the 9 precedes, the 8 follows

12:41 pm

ok - have the 8

12:41 pm

focus on the 8

12:41 pm

or instead of the monkeys, sounds like a kind of peanut butter cup....

12:41 pm

and then the 9 will make sense

12:41 pm

erred

12:41 pm

GAHHH! sorry

12:41 pm

I thought the 9 began with dia because someone mentioned it was like the runs combined with treatments for kidney failure

12:41 pm

indeed you did champ ;)

12:42 pm

:)

12:42 pm

Oh man Carla, if I said that unnecessary brit addition thing people would be wailing

12:42 pm

the 9 does, not the 8....

12:42 pm

yes, the 9 does start that way...the 8 doesn't tho

12:42 pm

it does, nan

12:42 pm

lol, molly. I wondered how many times I could say it. it's true though! not necessary!

12:43 pm

well if we get into unnecessary letters....phoenetics :)

12:44 pm

finally --- ty everyone

12:44 pm

fo netics but fee nix

12:44 pm

yw....weird words....

12:44 pm

I hope we never have that one again because I certainly won't remember it

12:44 pm

We got my daughter this book... P is for Pterodactyl

12:45 pm

I think we've had the 8 before. somehow I easily monkeyed it this morning

12:45 pm

oh that is a great book our grandkids loved it

12:45 pm

I just saw a guy miss pterodactyl on Jeopardy the other day

12:45 pm

Here you go: https://tinyurl.com/2j9sxkk5

12:46 pm

he answered pterosaur but the clue was about an 11 letter word

12:46 pm

pterodactylus

12:47 pm

just found another run of A's

12:47 pm

still need 4

12:47 pm

nothing like getting runny As

12:47 pm

I need 3 more A's...23 more overall

12:47 pm

I was laughing last night because when the host said he wasn't going to say Mozart's full name, I figured he didn't know how to pronounce Amadeus

12:47 pm

that's a pretty funny book

12:47 pm

yeah, one of my faves

12:48 pm

is it still Aaron Rodgers, nan?

12:48 pm

yes

12:48 pm

jeopardy host? yes

12:48 pm

much better than Oz

12:48 pm

surely he's heard of amadeus. there was a movie! or am I that much older than him?

12:49 pm

oh I think he us much worse than Oz -- just deadpan and he comes across as not being the sharpest knife in the drawer

12:49 pm

dr. oz is a snake oil salesman. I didn't see him hosting because I don't want to support that.

12:49 pm

well he's a football player, nan ;)

12:49 pm

I didn't say I like what he does for a living, but he was a much better host

12:50 pm

Guess he has had one concussion too many then carla

12:50 pm

I guess it was Mon I watched, and I thought he was good. I also liked Katie Couric but I know some people didn't

12:50 pm

hard to replace a legend

12:50 pm

yes I liked Katie too

12:51 pm

although I guess Aaron Rodgers already knows how to do that

12:51 pm

Aaron Rodgers won the 2015 Celebrity Jeopardy....like him better than Dr. Oz, who slurs his words....

12:52 pm

Ken was also okay, but he tried to be too much like Alex

12:52 pm

at perhaps Katie Couric too for that matter...not sure of her career arc

12:52 pm

i liked Ken Jennings the best of the new hosts....

12:52 pm

I've heard most people didn't like Ken doing it.

12:52 pm

are they just going to keep rotating hosts?

12:52 pm

lol

12:53 pm

I don't know what the plan is

12:53 pm

ugh, 50 left

12:53 pm

I think they are rotating in part because of the pandemic....wasn't as easy to get a permanent replacement...

12:54 pm

can someone please guess my other E on the bottom so I can gray a row?

12:54 pm

22 left

12:54 pm

I would like to see Brad Rutter do it, but I don't think he is interested

12:54 pm

this is not my day for finding words

12:55 pm

Anderson Cooper, Mayim Balik and Bill Whitaker are lined up as hosts....read that....

12:55 pm

not sure who bill whitaker is

12:57 pm

oh, I've seen him

12:57 pm

I think he worked on news shows...

12:57 pm

Anderson Cooper has won Jeopardy before....dk about Mayim Balik but I think she has a PhD....

12:57 pm

yeah, I think I read 60 Minutes

12:58 pm

yeah, she does have some fancy degree

12:58 pm

she's probably seen ib6 before, unlike me

12:58 pm

in neuroscience...

12:58 pm

Perhaps they could Prince Harry a run ;)

12:59 pm

lol....

finally finished an M!

now just need 10 B's for first col. LOL.

1:02 pm

Harry??? might as well get Sharon Osbourne --- yuck!

1:03 pm

or maybe Piers Morgan --- hear he is out of a job!

1:04 pm

yuck...

1:05 pm

yep

1:05 pm

I vote for LeVar Burton

1:05 pm

he'd be good...

I think I heard he was interested. he would be good.

1:07 pm

He is a contender and I think he would be great.

1:07 pm

saw an interview with him recently....

ok, this is officially the worst. still 47. going to do some other things. TTFN.

1:09 pm

bye, carla...

1:09 pm

i am trying to get down to 80....got to find 9 more words....

1:12 pm

just stick everything probable and improbable onto re and you will come up with them!

1:12 pm

hah!

1:15 pm

Well, I just typed in ten re words and none of them worked so maybe not

1:16 pm

found a few words, but not with the re....with the de...

1:21 pm

there is a whole block of re's between look at a book again and take up again that I am missing

1:22 pm

oh -- duh - found most of them

1:27 pm

well i am down to 81....close enough for now...bbl to hopefully finish....bye all....

1:32 pm

coming back later for my last 28 as well

1:47 pm

I'm having a really hard time with that M in the 4th row. I'm not finding anything but a couple of MO words.

1:48 pm

just found the ones that mean a big fight

2:10 pm

grrrrrreetings!

2:11 pm

Hi hurshy

2:12 pm

how's everyone today? i love it when we get a nice juicy grid like this

2:12 pm

still 20 left here :)

2:12 pm

it's a slog

2:12 pm

I love it too although I should be working

2:12 pm

300 left here :D

2:13 pm

almost there :)

2:13 pm

well, got my last 4...19 to go

2:15 pm

the second row S is more recalcitrant than the top row Ss

2:16 pm

phantoms: serene, serenade

2:18 pm

I have one from each of those remaining

2:18 pm

and then 2 from the second row one

2:19 pm

well now i'm down to 2, 1, and 2, from the S tiles

2:20 pm

phantom: museum

2:21 pm

museme :)

2:22 pm

museeem

2:23 pm

got all but two of the M words

2:23 pm

still missing one M from each

2:23 pm

yeah i was able to finish the left one

2:23 pm

there are three 6s to build off social me5

2:24 pm

oh yeah

2:24 pm

and ariel's dad et al is a nice one from there

2:24 pm

I have the left finished...the other 2 still have one on each

2:25 pm

missing a bottom i word

2:26 pm

me too

2:34 pm

17 left...but 14 of them are 6,7,8s

2:36 pm

well, found an 8 at least

2:40 pm

another 8...two more needed

2:50 pm

any clues for the AR7,32?

without upper extremities

2:56 pm

hi again

2:56 pm

without appendages

hi nan

2:57 pm

thanks!

ms

3:07 pm

hi luv

I FOUND A WORD

finally got my April quilt sandwich made. I can't sit on the floor for long periods like I used to. I might be 80.

3:09 pm

me 7/36 please?

3:09 pm

I finally got all the A's and B's! Only the entire rest of the alphabet to go! I'd better go do some work now before I get fired.

wow, well done, joy

3:10 pm

no worries carla -- when you are 80 you can't sit on the floor at all

I was afraid of that

3:11 pm

that's when you turn the ping pong table or pool table into a quilting table :)

oh, I have both those in the basement. not sure why I didn't think of it before.

I first tried the driveway so I could use the basting spray but it was way too windy, so moved inside and pinned.

3:13 pm

sounds like you are all set then.

3:13 pm

back to that me 7/36?

don't have, can't find

I need 2 M's from top and 2 from bottom

3:14 pm

the 7 comes from the bottom - my last m

ok, looking from there

wow, I don't know

3:18 pm

me neither also stuck on the re 6 that follows peruse a book again

put down something to grow grass again?

I am still missing 7 R's

3:20 pm

no - before look again

ok, must be missing that, because I have re-book and then look again

3:21 pm

yes there is a 6/21 between the two

not seeing any way to do that alphabetically

3:22 pm

I know

ah, it's like a US town or city

means grayish green. had no idea

in california is the town/city

3:24 pm

thought that was greige

no, greige is gray/beige

and taupe is beige/gray

3:24 pm

but don't know that many towns in CA

well, you are closer to CA than me ;)

kinda like what the ocean does at low tide with a couple of letter changes

3:26 pm

unless it is in or near the Coachella VAlley I wouldn't have come across it and even then it is a challenge

3:26 pm

and I don't think it is redding near where we cross the border

not sure how I know it, I don't even know which part of the state it's in

oh, it's actually an LA neighborhood

3:27 pm

it's a long day there, with a freeway running through your yard....

3:27 pm

wouldn't know then -- we try to bypass LA

3:27 pm

(or so claimed Tom Petty)

I feel like that may be a song lyric

3:28 pm

anyone have a different clue?

oh yeah, now I remember. it's a long day, living in re6. that must be how I learned it!

3:28 pm

alternate consonants and vowels, cnan

did you see my 3:25 ocean clue?

3:29 pm

or how about re + body style of car - last letter

hey hurshy, please guess my E on the bottom row

3:30 pm

idk i also am missing an E there, and ALL the E in the second row

3:30 pm

ty carla and hurshy

3:30 pm

no I had missed the ocean clue

I have finished all E's but that one

3:31 pm

Help, please, with the di 9.

it's been heavily clued all day, I'm not sure any of them will particularly help. maybe nan can share what clicked for her.

do you have the di8, dianne?

3:32 pm

i have di8 but not 9

9 is unnecessary vowel british style

3:33 pm

ahh

3:33 pm

I have a di 8 which come a few after the di 9.

3:33 pm

can you help me with second row E on the right? i have the 5 on the left E but none of the 3 on the right E

3:33 pm

yes -- add an extra letter in the middle of that 8

interesting. I have not seen the list and have 9 and 8 back to back. missing 3 D's there though.

3:34 pm

silly hokie, you didn't get di4 and gone to heaven?

they are all connected hurshy. en5/6/6. hijinks en6

3:35 pm

en 5,6,6

3:35 pm

thanks for those Es

3:35 pm

help with me7 pls

lol, nope. it's been a long day

I don't think we ever found it, peri

nan and I were just looking

3:36 pm

do we know if it's from the top M or the lowest M?

3:36 pm

me 7 -- compost heap

3:36 pm

Got it - thanks so much.

per nan, the lowest

7/36

ok, compost not helping me at all

3:36 pm

oops sorry that was the mi 7

3:37 pm

com...post... heap...

3:37 pm

think think, for i have not got that mi7 either

oh, I guessed mi7 earlier but didn't look it up.

3:38 pm

wait that can't be, i have an mi7 but it do not look to me like it means compost heap, and there's no more mi to be found

3:38 pm

don't have the me 7 either

well, that is what the def says

"a dunghill or refuse heap"

3:38 pm

weird

3:38 pm

i so thought it was something on a ship

3:39 pm

i guess i'm thinking of the mizzen mast maybe?

I know nothing about ships

wondering how many di between the 9 and 8 since Dianne said a few

3:40 pm

the mi 6-7 is where the kitchen waste was dumped, suppose it could be a dungheap as well

3:40 pm

do you have the di 8 carla?

yes

I'm looking for between the 9 and 8

hurshy just pointed out the di4, but Dianne said "a few"

3:42 pm

plural the first syllable

for what?

3:42 pm

scratch that

3:43 pm

for the 9 add a vowel into the first syllable of the 8

3:43 pm

she has the 9

3:43 pm

she wants to know what words exist after the 9 but before the 8

I'm looking BETWEEN

3:43 pm

i told her about di4 and gone to heaven

3:43 pm

and i don't know if there is another one or what

3:43 pm

dianne said the 8 comes "a few words after" the 9

I need 2 D's from that one

I'm having strong deja vu

3:44 pm

add a vowel into the first syllable of the 8 that hurshy clued

I HAVE THE 9 but thanks

3:44 pm

cnan, my dear, i think you should stop trying to help at this point lol

3:44 pm

probably

3:45 pm

ok -- thought you were looking for the 9

I think I clued the 9 for you earlier and def did for hurshy just a few min ago. LOL

3:46 pm

oh - only one word between the two: di 4

made it 40 left!

thank you!

3:46 pm

the way these letters are grouped it's so hard to tell what is there and what is not. i think half the words i have found, i have not actually se4 them myself, i just typed them in case they were there

yeah, I've done a lot of that today as well

3:47 pm

there is an se 7/28 between the fortuneteller and regards, but just can't find it

3:48 pm

make it a female fortuneteller

3:48 pm

ty hurshy

3:48 pm

and thanks, cause i did not have that either :D

well that's stupid. but was my last S, so cheers

3:50 pm

i feel

3:50 pm

quite

3:50 pm

stuck

doesn't a dermatologist demole people?

just 1 4 left here

3:51 pm

ditto

3:53 pm

b adden

3:53 pm

AND i can't get the song roll out the ba6 out of my head so THAT's just DANDY

nan, what is the me7/36 after?

3:54 pm

it follows the guys who live under the sea

3:56 pm

oh good grief

3:56 pm

i morewordsed it

3:56 pm

can you clue it?

3:57 pm

me + it ______ to be the case that we are intelligent people, but this grid is making us doubt it

ugh, that one has tripped us up before

because it's stupid and all

now need 1 M and 1 E for 4th col and 5th row

3:58 pm

brain anesthetised here - not seeing it

3:59 pm

oh - nm - found it

similar to "methinks"

3:59 pm

ba

3:59 pm

don't remember seeing it before but that doesn't mean anything :)

3:59 pm

*!*~*!* thanks for the help

4:00 pm

any clues wanted before I leave?

4:00 pm

ok so that m has... that one, and the chaotic brawl(s), and the periods (female ones that is)... and...

4:01 pm

the mo4 and 5

did you list 7? I think I have all the ones you listed

4:02 pm

and... trying to figure out what else comes there is so tricky

3 forms of the female one

4:03 pm

yea but only the plural comes from the lower one

4:03 pm

i have all 7 but for the life of me i cannot figure out what the 7th is

2 of the brawl and 2 skin. that makes 7 so one of those must be from elsewhere

ah yes

4:04 pm

skin??

4:04 pm

single period comes from the top

well, brown thing on the skin

4:04 pm

ah

or spanish sauce if you'd rather

4:05 pm

ok it is anagram of the periods

4:05 pm

hagd eveyone - back at the flip :)

4:06 pm

it's that me5/6 that also appears in a de7/8 combo

bye nan

could've sworn I tried that earlier

4:07 pm

just hit 90% and pretty fed up here

well, got the de7 but not getting the 8

4:07 pm

the 8 doesn't show up, the way the letters twist

4:07 pm

sorry

yes, but I'm typing all the last letters I can think of

4:08 pm

but the me6 does show up

4:08 pm

well stop doing that then hokie because it's not there

oh, so there's not a de8 with that 7 you're saying?

4:08 pm

that is what i am saying, yes

still need 1 upper D and 3 lower

4:09 pm

1-2 here

1 upper M, 1 + 2 right S's, the one E, and the rest are ridiiculous

10 B's, 4 A's, 5 R's, 5 N's

4:10 pm

i need scads of things too

hey, found a B!

4:10 pm

I think this is one of the most complained about grids in a long time

yeah, why am i still here?

4:11 pm

did you get the facial hair and past tense (well, adjective really)

molly, ICYMI, you should look at the chat when nan kept cluing things I wasn't asking for. LOL. good times.

yes, I have those.

4:12 pm

I feel sorry for people who feel compelled to finish when grids are this nasty

the B I just found was a villain

4:12 pm

yeah she kept recluing the di9 like 3 times with hokie repeatedly saying she had it lol

4:13 pm

ah, the villain. i was surprised that one counted!

me too

I was surprised by barny yesterday

just peeked at the list, our E on the bottom is an EM6

4:16 pm

oHO

4:17 pm

Es Eliminated!

not emless or emness

4:17 pm

things that make you go puke

I guess Imma need some help on that

thought that was emetic or something

4:18 pm

pukity puke puke pukes

4:18 pm

well, if you are puking they give you an em6 basin

4:18 pm

and it's the plural of that

4:18 pm

Okay, thanks for the heads up. That is a hysterical chat sequence. Carla, want a clue for the di 9? : D

4:18 pm

it's the same root word

4:18 pm

as what you thought

please

4:19 pm

I'm stuck on the last of the three DE7,36s

4:19 pm

well i only have two de7/36 so idk if i have it or miss it

the last one I have is the one hurshy was talking about with the me5

4:20 pm

mine are makes-sound-less and funny spelling of the land a squire reigns over

4:20 pm

i mean i guess it's the original spelling and then it got transmogrified as the english butchered it from the french

4:22 pm

I got those two...I'm looking for the one no one seems to have. :(

there is a more so one relating to the owner's slip to your house/land

I have no idea how that is a word but it is

how can something be de7 than something else?

4:23 pm

got than one, and the one before it. There's another after it.

4:23 pm

the owner's slip? ooh ok

do you know which D it's from?

4:24 pm

so the land the squire reigns over is the third of the three.

oh, I thought she said she had that one

4:24 pm

she did say that, but i think she was mistaken

4:25 pm

de + not you + the beginning of the nasty look with the curled lip

4:25 pm

that word is like SO HARD to clue if the person you're cluing doesn't happen to know the definition of it

4:25 pm

hmm..I guess I was mistaken.

4:26 pm

as i said, i believe it must be the original spelling, from french, of what later became more commonly spelled in english as "domain"

well, thank goodness enable included that

4:27 pm

Thanks. I've never heard of it before.

4:27 pm

i mean... i know it, i've read it in books, so i don't find it that unreasonable. but i also know not everybody reads the kinds of books i read (aka old ones)

4:29 pm

make an effort to remember it now though guys, so i don't have to give such a tortured clue again next time, lol

okay, I went to list at 31 left. took 10 min to find 2, so I'm saving last 29 for later maybe. good luck!

4:30 pm

i'm going to the list now at 28

4:33 pm

judging by the way all three of my cats dashed to the same place to stare up at the wall, i'm going to say i have a fly or something in here

4:37 pm

Better than a restless spirit :D

4:37 pm

back...15 to go

4:38 pm

that's just the point that i have just hit, mool!

4:38 pm

cool

4:38 pm

groovy even

4:39 pm

mmm, yummy, mu6

4:42 pm

not for me thanks

4:42 pm

I'll just take the beer by itself

4:43 pm

tip of the day: add "adult males" to EVERYTHING

4:43 pm

everythingmen?

4:44 pm

har har

4:44 pm

didn't work...very sad

4:45 pm

and i close on a very weird se6/27

4:45 pm

oh, but did find one that did...

13 left after first pass of list - not seeing anything... just add males and voila

hmm, not working for my last D

or last 2 N for obvious reasons

5:17 pm

Hi all. I am still looking for the i word for bottom corner i. Please send me stat and clues. Ty

5:19 pm

strange word...just found it

5:20 pm

perhaps would be a slangy way for saying that you went to an auction and participated in it

I was told earlier it's very common in scholarly articles.

5:21 pm

I'm not scholarly

but sometimes abbreviated like you all were talking about this morning. are we still here?

me either, that's why I had no idea

5:22 pm

well I found it...pure guess tho

5:22 pm

Please send stat for the i word bottom corner. Ty.

5:22 pm

ib6/30

5:23 pm

Ouch. Ty mool. Well dont know where to start with that one.

ib6/30, in5/12, in7/36

5:23 pm

go with the clue I said before

5:23 pm

also in 5/12 in 7/36

5:23 pm

the other two are to take up weapons

5:23 pm

I have the three from the i in third row. Bottom row is what i need.

5:24 pm

those are all from the bottom

5:24 pm

All three of those are 4 letter ones. So not sure what these stats are about

the 3 stats I gave are for bottom i

5:24 pm

none of the bottom i's are 4s

5:25 pm

Ty carla for the clarification. Wow. Dont know if i can find them. If there are any clues please send them my way. Ty.

5:55 pm

13 to go, not sure I'll get any more

5:57 pm

3x5, 6x6, 2x7 and 2x8 remaining

5:57 pm

it's those 6s that get me

5:57 pm

anyone have the be 8/60?

5:57 pm

yeah

5:58 pm

it's a 7 with an extra letter in the middle pen

5:59 pm

is the 7 in the grid?

5:59 pm

yes

5:59 pm

it rhymes with another be7

5:59 pm

ty...i will work on it...

6:00 pm

not a common word any of the 7s or 8

6:00 pm

it's the only B i have left...

6:00 pm

but the ending is common in today's grid

6:00 pm

ah, then you likely will find it with some noodling

6:01 pm

i think so...

6:02 pm

still have two b's to go

6:03 pm

most are regular words....there is a 4/5/6 at the end that start with the same four letters....

6:05 pm

hmm

6:06 pm

do you mean the be words?

6:06 pm

yes....not the same in definition, but the same in structure...

6:07 pm

yes, have those

6:07 pm

my b's could be any of the three vowels

6:07 pm

found them

6:07 pm

was a couple of ba's

6:07 pm

good...

6:07 pm

similar to your clue though :)

6:08 pm

11 to go

6:08 pm

i still have 50 to go...

6:09 pm

S M S D SS D A RR M

6:09 pm

6:09 pm

6:10 pm

6:47 pm

6:52 pm

i am done....wouldn't have finished without a list...

6:52 pm
