Here is the deal on SPAM: It used to say "not in the dictionary". Then someone said that Dr. God had agreed to add it as a word. Now it says "not in the puzzle" when SPAM is in the puzzle. Dr. God know this and his response was "interesting". I think that means we just have to live with things the way they are.

That was an awful day. I was supposed to be there with my friends who had a trailer there but had to postpone because of work.
They lost everything but luckily escaped with only minor injuries. However, the memories of that have haunted them to this day.
we get more of them as well. but maybe because we have built in areas formerly exurban, they make news.

there was some debate over it a while back, I think Dr. G added it as a word but it's not in enable? I wasn't here for that one but the topic came up in the chog not too long ago...

I remain convinced that I got the wrong error message for spam, since I just tried a proper noun, and it was rejected as expected, not in the dictionary - is there a way to send bug reports? Not that this case is particularly important, but it could be a symptom of something that does matter.

well, spam as we know it today wasn't really a thing when the Enable word list this game uses was made. back then it was just the canned meat - a proper noun, which is not allowed.
per Molly, someone asked Dr. God (the creator of this game) to add it (which I didn't know was possible), and apparently it isn't possible because it doesn't work. But it changed the error message from "not found in the dictionary" to "not in the grid" even when it's clearly in the grid, like today.
Well I don't know about "not possible". Hurshy keeps claiming that some word (stent?) was added.
oh yes, I knew there was another. serpentine seems to use enable or a version, and stent is not allowed on there because I always try it.
And Enable has not been updated since the year 2000.

oddly, I just entered spam and I got "was not found in the dictionary"
then tried stent and stents and got the expected result, and then tried spam again and got "does not exist". so weird.

Gillie - Hi! I don't think we've met. The global fight against Covid 19 is far from over, even when everyone (and it won't be everyone in the world) has had their 2nd jab. New variants will keep on appearing and we'll all need more jabs to try to avoid them, just like with influenza. It could be another year or two before we can all relax in what we all saw as 'the normal world' again, and even then we'll probably need to wear masks and have more jabs in winter for another 3 years or so. There is no quick or for ever fix for this one.
