Hi Sukee
Morning, all! 99 to go!!
why can one reoil but not regas
195 for me, Une. My columbines are ready to bloom any day.
It's just not right, Harry.
Hey, scrabs! My columbines have been so pretty but are almost bloomed out :-)
it's ok. I will soldier on.
Peonies are lovely right now :-)
On our neighborhood app someone asked for perennials, so I dug up columbines, as well as lilies and daisies.
we had an amazing planting of peonies in our old house - I loved watching the ants on the unopened blooms
How generous!
I don't have peonies.
Hey, Harry :-)
good morning une
Off to watch the Italian Open! Later!
I must get ready for work. Enjoy the day.
bye!

how can a word have 4 vowels and 1 con
It can't - it's all in your head :) (Which word has that weird combo - I mean, what does it start with?)
"outie" -- a type of belly button. Four vowels, one consonant.
I totally agree with that!
aa 5/10
Thank you!
oh, a plural too, thanks
This is the kind of gr4 where people will say "plural everything". But don't, because all the words are not plurals. : D
yeah, but if wrong guesses don't count against you, what's the downside of trying?
phantom aioli
Imagine this game is guesses DID count against you.
per the early chats, it did start that way
that would be super bad for me
Well I can tell you that the rankings page would look A LOT different.
glad it doesn't count!
hi wendrie!
the only 8 I found is something we can't eat :D
I have managed to gray out 5 boxes, get at least half on the rest, and find one 8. BBL for last 100.
the LU 8 is new to me
Me too
What? No players in your medieval circle? : D
I'm assuming it starts with the instrument
LU player with extra cons. inserted
Ive only seen the LU 6/21 version

Oh, double sorry.
I'll never finish this grid. Far too many words
Got it. Ty
Grats.
regas - something I can't do right now
Ty for great clues.
hookie is that a clue or a statement?
a statement, we have a gas (or petrol) shortage right now, all the stations are out
Statement
Oh, sad to head.
our gas pipeline was hacked and held for ransom
My goal is half way with no blank stats or tiles.
Try that goal.
I think I'll set a modest goal today - 100 words.
I am down to 76 left. slow going now.
just need 3 R's and 1 A to finish 1st col, so I'm working on that.
Urgh 259 left here.
well, I could never play a word game in another language, so I think that's great
Owl, it becomes easier the more you play.
Give it half a year.
Well ... we start English in school at 12-13 years old, and i have read tonnes of books in English since, plus been working as a free-lance translator. I should be able to do it ;)
I am impressed owl.
It IS easier already. I never played much scrabble or the likes, so looking for words like this is new to me.
definitely start to remember more and more the more you play
some of those crazy words you never use ... yes those I begin to see first ;)=
Thanks mkg ;)
good morning everyone -- found 155 last night before crashing
almost half already!
Morning - Nice catch.
definitely going to need the list today
gm everybody!
for sure
dolly!
hi dolly
hi Nan!
hi Hokie!
Isn't 'aula' a word in English?
not that I'm aware
aura
No? Oh, OK, thought like in Danish a big hall mostly in public buildings and schools.
can't even think of what that would be in English
maybe just hall?
maybe
auditorium maybe?
a hall like you walk through or a hall like you'd have dances in?
or anything
ah, or maybe like ru says
atrium is what I use for that
Collin's knows it: aula in British English (ˈɔËlÉ™) noun a large place where people can congregate, such as a hall
I think of atrium more as an entryway hall
interesting
I think I know it from Harry Potter - the one with the Yule ball ;)
the grade school I went to had a big area, that did get used for assemblies, called it the atrium
Atrium is for me big room with no roof.
hmm, have read HP multiple times and don't remember that. I bet they changed it in our version, like philosopher's stone to sorcerer's stone.
I know :D Translated into American. I have the 1st in American translation ;)
good morning all
gm Peri
hello again
It's faster to read then in English / American than to wait for the Danish translation ... which was hurried and not so good.
Morning
I think that's the one with the tri-wizard tournament, will have to go look in a minute.
peri!
I also have the audiobooks, which are read by a great British guy, but the British versions were read by a different British guy.
I thought that was kinda weird.
AD5 clue pls?
"I can see clearly now"
like a traditional saying, mlfan
Hehe, I did not know about the audio books, sounds decidedly weird.
interesting, it was Stephen Fry who read the UK version.
ty hokie
ad + longevity
TY
Just to add another thought, I always think of an atrium as a large open area with plants in it.
Agree with you, Molly
me too, molly -- and in our clime it has a glass roof on it
All of the hotels that have atriums are the plants kind.
yep
Oh yes we're not millionaires to have an atrium at home ;)
I normally don't care for British accents, but I could listen to Stephen Fry read the telephone book.
lol
I just don't know why they needed 2 different readers when they are both british. Jim Dale was amazing, but I bet Stephen Fry was too.
The best audiobook readers I have heard (and I listen to a lot of audiobooks) are Mare Winningham and Bronson Pinchot
Copyright reasons I dare bet
have not heard either of those
EL 7 clue pls?
I've been listening recently to an Irish cozy mystery series. She's a great narrator but one of the books had Americans in it and someone should have told her we pronounce certain words differently.
it's a 7/8 combo, think of the stuff that we put in waistbands
e + not first + not out

Will Patton reads the Mr. Mercedes trilogy on audiobooks. He pronounces words that start with H like the H is silent. Huge sounds like UGE. Human sounds like UMAN. It drives me nuts.
yeah, I have to listen to a sample before I can commit to a reader. I used to listen to the Bosch books and they changed readers and I didn't like.
That's one of the reasons I don't like audiobooks; another being not able to fast forward through boring passages or savour the good ones slowly.
audio books are great for long solo car trips - not that I'm doing any of those anymore.
I have no car, and when I had, I always drove with family. So no books there ;)
Does anyone do the spelling bee in the New York Times? And looking for same type of puzzles in other sources...my morning ritual ;)
we listened to the harry potter ones on our cross country trip
I think it's penquis that does that, and maybe bichon. I occasionally do as much as it lets me without a subscription.
merriam-webster website has several games
need to run - chiro in an hour and haven't had breakfat yet -- bbl
heard my name mentioned... ;o)
Yes they're fun, but not really challenging ;)
BB nan gl
I occasionally do the Jumble on there and a crossword and sudoku and ken ken. They have some other games too, but some were flash based and don't work anymore.
I wondered if that would draw you out, pen ;)
found sa7/8
LOL...just happened to glance over at the chat...
I do the spelling bee. more addicted to that now than I am to babble.. first thing I do when I wake up
Mr. Bichon is apparently very good at Spelling Bee....he's reached Queen Bee several times...
what is this spelling bee game?
it's a babble like word game on the NY TImes game page...
Dorens...me too..can’t do anything else until I reach amazing status. Lol
how does Jayzee feel about that penquis :D
ohh
you make words with letters given in a circle and have to use the middle letter on each word. but you can reuse letters, which is hard for me to remember.
New York TImes- gives 7 letters and you need to find words (4 letter minimum) that include the center letter. Does NOT use enable
ruru what is that photo/pic ?
hmm interesting ty dorens
and hokie
also doesn't take words that are words here
Hokie.. you can reuse letters
But it does take words that are not words here. The guy who makes it up is young and lots of new words are there
I have an app on my phone called whirly word, which is kinda like it but they show a list you fill in so it's somewhat easy to guess what's missing.
zcoach, I said you can reuse letters
There are facebook groups that have evolved around it. One is kind of like this in that there are requests for hints. The other refers people to a few sites that have something like lickety so you know how many words are possible, how many that begin with certain letters, how many 4's, 5's, etc
wow
still need 11 S on the bottom, where are these words?
I really wish I hadn't find those! Much easier when I just did what I could and was satisfied to reach the genius level and leave. Now I strive for queen Bee (every possible word) sometimes and it takes a lot of work. Have succeeded enough that I'm content now with genius
I always get cut off with "you're pretty good at this game, you should subscribe".
Cool. Know what group is called? Dorens.. you’re better at it than me. Don’t always make genius
I've subscribed to the Times for 50 years now. When they first told me this would cost I complained. And they actually comped me!
z - NYTimes Spelling Bee, and NYT Spelling Bee Spoiler Extravaganza-
well, I am stuck again at 53 left. TTFN
Shunn.net is kind of like lickety but goes further. His spelling Bee solver gives you various levels of help, and even all the answers if you want. Of course I don't want that much help
That's respectable hokie
you only need 11 s words from the bottom? i have only found 12
Agree with Dorens hookie!
all the ones I have are pretty regular, mlfan. and yes, I'm still here. I swear I'm leaving now. (usually check for words again on my way out and find some)
that happens to me, too...
ed5 clue pls?
you know you want to stay hokie lol
ends with the ending of what you put on walls or floor, like in your bathroom....or kitchen....
ed + let's not be infant***
ty dorens grayed that e
It's the only one I've grayed and I've entered 162 so far
Oh, I just hatd to try The NY Times spelling bee. You've got to subscribe to move on :(
fireworks!! whoohoo!
congrats....
nice job md
GRATZ!
i subscribe, but only to the puzzle page....
I do the ny time spelling bee but it always asks me to subscribe if I want to move on and so far I have not done that
help with sa7/8 please
i subscribe because I like to do the Crossword puzzle every day and sometimes i do more from the archives....
peri...think crackers....
ty pen
was looking at the wrong S
pen do they have the double acrostic on that page? It's always been my favorite puzzle. alternate sundays (in the real paper)
thanks for that s, finally got me to over 1/2 on that S. it's been making me crazy
I think I would have more trouble than it's worth trying to make transatlantic subscripions for the spelling bee ;)
they show four variety puzzles and you can click on MORE to see more....
one of the categories is acrostic puzzles....
ty Penquis.
those are also available in archive, meaning access to more...
they started the spelling bee only on Sundays with 5 letter minimum and that's what I did for years, just tried the daily the last month or two. Pen have you done acrostic?
yw...
no, i don't do acrostic...
And now I'm at 100 words. Taking a break. Bye for now.
bye MO...
My mom taught me them when I was maybe 15 or so and been doing them ever since. (56 years?! Wow) Love them
bye MO
i couldn't handle more puzzles than this one.. this is a big enough time waster as there is
well i am retired...i do what i feel like doing... ;o)
ru, you do well on the Sunday bee, right?
yeah.. i like to just find some of the bigger words, but it doesn't hold my interest really
the daily has a minimum of 4 letter words so there are lots more.
so not your thing then
i like finding the complete word and then other large ones.. but that's about it
i spend about three minutes on it
your brain is better
huh?
you get the bigger words more easily than I do, at least in babble. You like harder challenges,. I like easy
oh
i'm down to forty here but it's a lot tougher
I'm just trying to get more than half for each tile and the I's are kicking my butt
the i's are twisty.. all normal words
one of them is sort of an odyssey
:)
ok, now just need 2 from the lower i and i can go plant my herbs
one is a fiber
Got them! later all
i get my herbs from Origami.. she grows great stuff
bye, Dorens...
a fiber???? now i can't leave yet
real herbs.. not hemp :D
well, when you call it "great stuff" I begin to wonder
the IS 5/10 - 6/18 is a plant fiber per google
thanks IG/ And now to the rosemary, thyme, basil, sage, etc
(simon and Garfunkle are heading to Doren's house)
heading out to get some lunch....bbl to finish...bye all...
morning all
hello mool
hey ru, happy..Thursday I think

Hello, Hokie
hey zooz
hi all. I'm in a boring work meeting right now, so I figured I'd multitask to keep my sanity.
we will try to entertain you ;)
Not sure you will find any sanity here with enable although welcome along anyway!
Pretty anything you do or say, carla, would be more interesting than the little Zoom talking heads.
good point about the sanity, though, zoozzoom. Love your name BTW
do you have zoom fatigue?
Thanks! It was supposed to be zoomzoom. I did it wrong and so it stayed as it was lol
LOL, I always wondered
zoozzoom seems more appropriate, although I could be projecting my own desire to zzzzz during my zoom meetings.
whew, finally found my last 2 on the upper right T.
Also it had nothing to do with a car advert that said zoomzoom it was meant to be about my camera lenses that made a zoom noise when focusing. As I used to be an avid photographer.
I'd love a small clue for that LU8.
like a person that plays an old instrument
The person who play the instrument guitar.
got it, thanks
now just need 1 T lower to finish 5th col
but it doesn't seem meant to be
woot! 'twas a plural. 4th and 5th columns gray!
Good night. Not going to finish this one. have fun
good night MO!
Toodle pips, MotherOwl.
ooh, top row gray!
nice
still 47 to go here
still 47 million to go there
almost there then joy :)
I mean here...but maybe it's just my perception :)
31 here
and my bad typing
I blame my keyboard for putting the letters in the wrong places
are you listing moo and carla?
my keyboard is horrible that way too...the keys are always moving around
I don't use lists myself, personal choice
haven't yet, but I will have to
I try to hang with moo until I completely give up
I have more than 100 to go.
she does, and she finishes most times...I don't
10x4, 9x5, 11x6, 10x7 and 5x8 to go
I rarely finish without listing, and even though only with a lot of help from the chat.
6x4, 10x5, 8x6, 6x7, 1x8
I def. get help from the chat, though I try not to early on. moo avoids it.
not always successfully, but try to :)
it's all good though, especially for big boards like this
oh yeah
grinja - a smiling pajama-wearing assassin
I have gotten more 8's on my own today than usual
yeh, the early chat makes me nervous. All those people racing to find the big words.
ah yes, that can be a bit of a clue-fest....I pretty much avoid the flips now
are there any EU words?
no, no eu words
good, thanks
my open ones - R D S A i i L S. too many to say how many from each
would love to find the Rs and A to finish out that first col
I only have 9 grey tiles...excluding the O
just saw the A - a 4 of course
oh, another grey tile
oh, and another grey tile
haven't been focusing on them :)
you just haven't been trying ;) work and such
yeah, been sitting on the tiles with most left
have five of them with 4 left
I'm doing the opposite because those are frustrating me
yeah, I had just started going through each tile again
well, I guess I'll say - R3, D5, S4, i1, i4, L5, S8
G4, R2, D4, S3, T3, I3, I2, L4, U2, T2, T4, S4, A2
we are pretty similar
found an i :)
not me
and I'm really working on the one because I just need one and want to finish that :D
unlate - early or ontime
I've got 3 Js -- two 4s and a 5. What's the 4th one?
a 5
and not a word you're likely to know
are they all JAs?
I wonder if you are missing the Us MLFAN gave me. really regular words but so twisty it took me a while.
yes, joy, another ja5, same pt total
one of those useful Hindi words
I do rem. having it before, but don't rem. seeing the one that's part liquor before
there are quite a lot of Hindi words in the enable dictionary
and scottish
I blame all those new age people from the 70s
and those old age people from the 1700 - for the scottish words
The JA5 that I have relates to beer, at least in my mind.
yeah, the one you're looking for is not related to that
but starts the same
and will allow you to stay up all night in praise of a deity
found my last i in the middle row - I literally tried that, it didn't take, then I went inside and came back out and tried again and it did take. 29!
woot...38 left here
almost 91%
found my last two i's on that one too
it's certainly been an oddysey
Hi all
Can you click on my icon? I have changed it but can't see 2 cats
yep, you'll need to force refresh your browser
I see them when I click on it, but will have to hard refresh to see in the chat. hi sukee!
I have refreshed and refreshed
are you on mac or windows?
if on PC, hold Ctrl while you're refreshing
On Mac, hold Shift and click refresh
I'm on a chromebook, that might be it
mac is command option R
oh, I don't know chromebook's OS
Ah, the shift refresh worked
there you go
by default, browsers cache pages (unless told otherwise) on your local device
some website force refreshes every time you visit, others like this one use the default
That is Tobey and Damon by the way
yeah, I spell it differently ;)
what are you spelling differently?
my name
oh, Toby
yes
popular amongst pet owners I have found
I wondered if it was Tobey Mcguire (Maguire?) and Matt Damon.
that does seem like a reasonable conclusion
hmm, not sure I've ever known a Toby pet
I think that is where their names came from. I took the names they had at the shelter. The black one's full name is Tobey Catguire
LOL, I love a good cat name pun
I've known many...cats and dogs mosty, but rabbits, guinea pigs...a horse, even a helicopter
who had a pet helicopter?
australian fire fighting service
did some work for them when I lived there
I fostered a rescue dog named Liam Neesom.
did the dog bark with an irish accent?
lol
he probably had a particular set of skills
Not really but he did have a bit of a spelling problem.
iindeed
ooh, found some words...32
That group named all of their rescues after actors for about 5 or 6 years.
nice. going through my R's now.
out cats were named after characters from How to train your dragon
well two of them were, the other I can't recall
finished the bottom T
terrific
thanks
totally
still 11 7/8 letter words...yoiks
found an R! thought it was a name but whatevs
really?
no curiously strong mints
altoids!
indeed
Have to run, gla
ooh, another two words
laters sukee
found my last 2 R's, could've sworn I had those already. I def. had a larger word that contained them
bye, sukee!
26 here
ridiculous really
29 now
and my last ones were a 7/8 combo...so that was nice
in 5 boxes, so avg of 5 per
10 boxes here, so an average of 2.9
that is nice
I really don't know why other people don't join in on our stats
it really is quite satisfying
curiously satisfying?
yeah
guess I will try D now
you know, the Hubble Space Telescope has particularly impressive lensage
LOL, how is that not a word. I also said this morning I cannot regas right now here in NC.
know you've been d5sed instead
know-no
which has had a degrinning effect on many
and of course you can have mickey and mouse, but no disney
oh, found a couple of D's
disjet -
is different from datjet
you can have rivulets, but no drainulets
disage -
diregas - a particularly aromatic flatus
still 5Ds
2 D's
my last two I found rhyme with other words, but appear to be made-up words
yoo-hoo!!
I hope you all are thriving
hoo to yoo too
not sure about thriving, but okay, thanks. :D
hope you are!
she doesn't have gas
so it's like living in the late 1970s
LOL
well, the late 70s with internet and cellphones
oh and streaming video
I have 3/4 tank of gas, so I'm good
and home delivery of almost anything
and fewer handlebar moustaches too
truth
apart from that, exactly the same
I'm down to 2.7 words per tile
well, my car is getting 33.3 mpg, not sure anything in the 70s did that
still 5.2 WPT here
oh yeah, that's true...more like 3.3 miles to the gallon
I think we have scared away mty
it's on me
I'm too chatty
it's all good
if you weren't here I'd just be talking to myself
I do that all the time
(cue Molly agreeing with me)
hello friends
just getting started here
hurshy!
hey hursh, welcome to the party
I am stuck with 26 left, so you have plenty of time to catch me
I have 27 left
ha
tis an awfully big grid for that
I'm operating at about 1 word per hour, so should be done by 6:30 tomorrow
lol
and I have 5.2 WPT left so no idea where these words are hiding
(we've added a new stat)
I'm 2.7 WPT, by comparison
and what a precise stat it is
yes, we felt we were getting a bit stale
needed to shake things up a bit
well, my first usage of it was just an estimate in my head but then moo got all exact
I just innovated off your innovation
it was all you, really
yeah i prefer stats i can do in my head like 90% done :D
i mean i guess i COULD do that one in my head too, it just would be harder
well I have 27 words off of 10 tiles...so
and do you count all 25 tiles or do you leave out tiles with 0 words, or only count the tiles that have words left to find?
I have 80% gray tiles
and I'm only 60% grey
so 20/25 are gray
15/25 here :)
well that makes sense, moo needs to grey more tiles, so he has fewer words per tile
WPT is I have 26 words left on 5 open tiles
it all checks out
indeed!
I can see this new stat is already very popular
I knew hurshy might be the only one to like this :D
hursh is a very supportive person
lol, suddenly you have opposite opinions
I'm a glass all full kind of guy
well, she's the only other stat person normally
hi friends! JUST home from work, big grid, wow!
there's a math teacher on here too isn't there...can't think who
Perhaps HH would appreciate these
yeah, maybe
hey Trif
i am sometimes a math teacher (like currently)
Trif, are you a math teacher?
hello!
or can you pretend to be one, just to humor us?
I used to do Math Superstars when my boys were in elem. school.
so maybe I'm the math teacher
My wife used to teach middle school math
I know Trif is a teacher. and howdy, Trif!
lololol one of my students asked me for math help this week, and another, alarmed, shouted "NO Rocco! Don't ask HER!!!"
hello hokie!
heh
LOL
it's super frustrating because in my special needs class i have a bunch of aides, which is great for helping with the difficult behavioral kids, but they don't really know math, so like today they were helping kids get things... wrong.
oh yay
3 EN words?
I admit to having no idea how the new math works. When my boys were learning stuff, I'd say, why are you doing that? why not this way??
oh dear! I am sure they meant well
uh oh, hurshy
maybe there's some sort of correlation with those that gravitate towards math, and those who can help people?
mlfan back to the party!
never mind found the missing e
which, honestly, is an argument for not making less capable children try to learn the order of operations and stuff. if the average adult doesn't remember how to use it properly, why are we trying to force it on everyone when we know that it is not going to stick?
or negative correlation
yes, 3 EN words
I'd argue that only a handful of kids need to know the order of operations, regardless of whether they are special needs or not
if i had my druthers there are so many ways i would revamp mathematical education
I do appreciate that now there are several different approaches taught - lattice method, partial sums....when I was a kid there was only one accepted way, and if it didn't work for you, you were made to feel like an idiot (me)
I feel sometimes like education curricula never really stepped back and looked at why
still 26 words here but y'all are more fun
i need a clue for the first IN 6 pls?
the amount of adults that cannot understand order of operations astounds me
Wow, it has to be hard when your aides don't know how to properly help the students
ooooh, man with the mouse is in the grid!
well, I don't have any, mlfan
the first in6..kind of sounds like a four letter flower that has two extra letters in it
thanks for the clue too
yeah, but trif, when i was student teaching, one of my supervisory teachers was trying to make EVERY KID learn to use EVERY METHOD properly, instead of letting them choose the one that works for them and use that on the test. i said, i think that's defeating the purpose! so then she checked with other teachers and discovered that i was right, the others were letting them choose the method that worked for them.
nice! Good for you for speaking up!!!
and apparently there's a 5 that goes with the 6
now just trying to think of a 4 letter flower
i've always been a speaker-upper
so that's the i's done
now I have 25 left from 9 tiles
tough day today - tried to get the kids to buy in to practicing for the upcoming state testing, which i HATE. Hard to sell it to the kids when I agree with them, it's a massive waste of time. I have never seen the results used as anything but a real estate indicator.
still 4 i's from that one!
I must've reached the PONMW - point of no more words
that's 2.7777777.... WPT
yeah i find many things hard. like when a kid says they don't want to be in school doing this stuff, it's like, well if i'm honest, i'd rather be at the beach myself...
WPT is hilarious
ahhh, gridlock - I know it well, hokie
hokie i was thinking ir four letter flowr?
wow, just found in6/7, even used in6 in the chat earlier
oh, well...yeah
i hve the combo
Thank you, Trif. my new WPT is 4.8
or am i completely wrong?
you're not wrong
im calling bs on sa5 not being a word (pt of sa4.6) "The White House staff assured us the house was fully sa5 before they let the Bidens in"
name that proper noun! Walt
Whitman!
heh
disney mool
Disney! The man with the mouse I just mentioned
answers to NTPN always appear in the grid :D
I thought sadist had six letters
ding ding ding!!!
ooh...a 7/8 combo yay for me!
it's also interesting the amount of stamina various kids have for work. i've had two google meets one-on-one with quarantined kids this week, and one of them, after 45 mins, was clearly like I AM SO DONE BYE, where today, i had a kid go like an hour and a half no problem
congrats mool
tx ML, small victories
I found that as well, hurshy, and MAN did they struggle with the return to full in person! They were legless by the end of the second full week
23 off 9, so now I'm now to 2.5555... WPT
i am good at those
we're pretty much at full in person, but when kids have exposures to known COVID positive people, then they have to quarantine at home
us too, but without an online option
speaking of which - need to jump a quick shower. bbs
so, I have a peach tree in a big planter on my deck. just looked out and saw like 15 baby peaches on the ground. last year the squirrels ate them all when they got to a certain size but they weren't getting these yet. tried to roll it into the screen porch where I'm sitting and another fell off. they seem very fragile.
well, the kid i worked with today, our online options have been really failing him. his work that he submits isn't getting through to me, our emails weren't all getting through, and things i shared with him weren't showing up, it's crazy. i've emailed the tech person to alert them, cause this is just awful!
still not getting it
the i6?
yes
a flower from the sub-continent?
it's from the bottom i if that helps
nope not helping
start with the beginning of the country, end with the end of the flower
or stick an N in actor Id*** Elba
what's the points, mlfan?
ah, thanks hurshy
got it
what's the points of anything really ;)
he is hot
great clue, moo!
i kept trying ini
yw mich
hurshy oh my god he is!
also, that's a plural...just so you know
and extremely talented at acting, of course
agreed
oh, Luther! especially :)
I can't comment on his thermal condition
and that accent!
But do like his acting
ah, my last i! tried to add a letter but didn't try to subtract one
some eps of Luther gave me serious nightmares, but i still watched it, it was just too good to give up
Li words hokie?
back to 5.5 WPT
i feel like we keep having aioli as a phantom lately
is that what you are talking about?
yeah, was thinking that too
like the times I look for it, it's not there
i had phantom aioli too
then I won't look for it, and it'll be there
it's because we are having a ton of vowels lately
these vowels are too close together
not sure what you mean, mlfan
the last li word you tried you added a letter?
no, the IN words everyone helped us find
ohh
a word! I found a word!
22 to go from 9 tiles...so now I'm down to 2.44444... WPT
eureka!
22 here as well
Dx5, Sx4, Lx5, Sx8
4x4, 6x5, 6x6, 5x7, 1x8
Gx4, Rx2, Dx2, Sx2, Lx4, Ux2, Tx1, Sx3, Ax2
name that proper noun! the famous female Ghandi
3x4, 3x5, 5x6, 8x7 and 3x8
indira
indira
ding ding ding!!!
ooh, another 7/8 combo
and a 5/6 combo...that helped
they are mostly regular words I think
18 to go from 8 tiles...now my WPT is 2.25
actually the second was a 6/7 combo
somehow my frenzied typing yielded an L - I don't know what- 21 left - 5.25 WPT
must've been one I thought I already had because nothing looks new
ooh, a 5 now...17 from 8 tiles down to 2.125 WPT
R DD SS LLLL UU T SSS AA
not really much change to justify retyping mine ;)
heh
would like to make it to the teens but I think that will only happen if MLFAN asks for clues :D
underise - to put on briefs
well, we call that underize
well yes...
phantom sundial
name that foreign noun! French for Monday
lundi
ding ding ding!!!
one for you hursh, native people of a certain part of Alaska
aleut
inuit isn't there
ding ding ding
I have never had such a high WPT this many words in. can't find anything.
which tiles?
D S L S
all ones I'm still looking at too
do you have the dr5/6?
the first ones
I have 2 sets, not sure if there's a set before. don't think it's possible alphabetically.
yeah I have two sets too right now
i concur with that assessment
there's an s7/8 combo, but the 7 comes from the top, and the 8 from the bottom
there's the cavities in your face that comes off the top s
do not seem to have those
the 7/8 normally has "in" in front of it
not sulate
though that is a 6
LOL
and no u at the upper S. lots of holes in that one.
no, but vaguely in the right direction
on the sulate that is
got 'em
thanks
yay
opie is meowing as if his dinner is la4. but it is not. we're having ant issues, so i said, "well eat some ants if you're hungry!"
ants are the worst
I
are they? mosquitos seem to me to be worse
I've not knowingly eaten an ant, but there are cultures I think in Africa that eat part of honey ants, and then the french had chocolate covered ants
do ants carry zoonotic diseases?
this morning I wasn't sure if winston was trying to tell me timmy was down in a well or that he wanted to eat. decided it was just the latter, but it seemed very important.
they're hard to get rid of.
many ants have formic acid which is said to taste pretty bad
phantom silent
silend - a quietness when you have a cold or flu
but i mean, if they are in my house, eating my crumbs and garbage, is there any actual reason why i can't just decide to coexist?
it's cheaper and less frustrating if you do
unless they're carpenter ants
because they'll start getting into actual food
not crumbs and garbage
hmmm
you guys are disagreeing again
always good to get multiple opinions
this might be the first place I've lived that I don't get ants in my house, but they do swarm in the summer outside
and moo is glass half full, I'm obviously the opposite
actually I'm a totally full glass guy
we get them quite a bit here, esp. after a lot of rain
have the T-Shirt to explain it
so you could still be a half-glass fuller
I'm a whatever is wrong must be the worst possible thing kinda person
oh yeah, my wife goes immediately to cancer
same
it's a rough way to live
agreed
any TS words?
nope
Eliot :)
ha
ba dum dum dum
I thank you for giving me the opportunity to do that one
yeah pretty cool that it happened to be in the gr4
yeah, I was looking at it before...not in the context of your ask, but because you spell his name/initials backwards
unitoad - a one piece amphibian costume
ah, finally found my last u's
can stick a fork in the U's now
15 off of 7 tiles...that's a 2.14 WPT ratio now
unbelievable !
the L is a bit of an outlier, still 4 on that one
3x4, 2x5, 4x6, 5x7 and 1x8
almost lignite
oh found one, didn't know it tho
NTPN - blanket obsessed kid
yeah, saw that one, it's close to the one I found
a reverse image in fact
Linus, sorry to interrupt the Carla and Moolingwa Show
ding ding ding, molly bets it all
but i am not getting any kind of reverse image of that in any way that i try, unless you swap the i for an e and then just swap the vowels' places
hello again. back for a minute before I tutor at 7:15
math, trif? lol
god help us all, can you imagine?
ok, first pass sees me at 43 left
wow, hurshy, that is wonderful!
more than i would have hoped to have left
90% in one pass is preferred
i have rigorous standards
plus, i only found one of the 8s
oHO, but now i monkeyed a second one
they aren't that bad
well i have the crackers, and then i just monkeyed a gr8 that is unfamiliar to me
i have oi4, what is the other o?
oops, pulled a peri
why is that such a thing??!?!? so mysterious
still haven't found moo's reverse image Linus. that would be sunil, no? or maybe he meant lunis, but not.
yeah like i said if you swap the vowels and replace one of them (actually EITHER of them) with E then you get a word
but having to swap for an e seems not reverse image-y
one that looks like male private part?
yeah, and then i think the other might be spanish for monday?
already have both those :(
yeah
ok well, i gotta feed the cats and do some other stuff so stopping at least for now
adios
found an S!
and another!
and another!
WPT - 4
I have been in and out all day because work is interfering with my babbling again.
14 left, finished the 4's. calling it and going to the list. 4x5, 6x6, 4x7
I still have more than 100 words to go!
but you've been working and zooming
I have been working and zooming hard, with my no4 to the gr10.
How many RE words are there?
three
Glad to know it's not my imagination that there don't seem to be many. I have two RE4s, that's all.
re5 is a babblet
there was someone a few years back who was supposedly researching and writing something about Babble culture....would have been interesting to read...
hmm, that would be
babblets, PB, ding-ding-ding.... ;o)
all new today: WPT!
well my last 4 D's were easy words. not sure why I couldn't see them
are you done, then?
3 S's left I skipped. might have to look them up.
Si6 and 2 Si7
i am missing those, too...
and a lot more, lol...
haha
i am always suprised to find words i have never seen before...
me too. and I'm not even finding the Si6 with by looking it up. only two options for the 3rd letter unless I'm looking wrong.
finally found the 6. def. new to me. if you want a clue, I will try.
sure...
well, the 7/32 is a singular mythical forest creature looking kinda like quiet not them. the 6 is a latin(?) plural
now just a si7/28 left
i got the singular....working on the pl...
it (si7/28) is a fabric I've never heard of. there was another new fabric today too but I've forgotten it already.
got it....new pair for me....
yeah, weird ones
well there was the is fiber word...
so now I am finished!
ty for the clues...
yw
congrats!
thanks, was work indeed. :D I bet tomorrow is 400+
hah...
as7 please

or as + not over
ty Luv
yw :-)
hi all, diving in, splorsh
The bad news is that I have to leave and I still have almost 100 words left so I may not finish this grid...but the good news is I'm leaving to take my 14 y.o. kid to get vaccinated!
just finished, any clues needed?
congrats...
ty pen
el 7/8?
e + not first + not out
We can travel this summer!
and plural
glad to hear joy! The more vaccinated the better :-))
ty...
really, luv. I don't get the people who don't want to be vaccinated.
it's funny....i tried a couple words this morning that weren't accepted and now they are....
ok we're off.
happened to me once today too
There's a lot of things that puzzle me about people's behavior lately joy
I've been having problems with having to put words in twice much more lately
Ok, I'm off for the evening, have a good one everyone
bye luv...
silenua
oops...sorry...
any J clues?
green stone?
nickname for Mick of the Stones?
ja4 rhymes with what you put groceries in to carry them
thanks! i hatej's.can't ever see them!
i will take clues for the 8's as well. :-)
ja5, german word for hunter
well i went through the list and still have 6 to find...
yikes....
tricky little grid. very twisty.
there is one 4....and two are : il*** and pl like in The Il*** and the Odyssey...
5 of my missing words are S words....no surprise there, I guess...
found an 8 at last
anyone have the second si 7?
not me.
thanks anyway...
stoa
si7/28 to imply something. Usualy with an in prefix.
Ends with the name of a popular Australian singer
don't understand either clue but I just found it....thanks!
I think you mean si7/32, wht
helen reddy?
pl for an 8
That's the third si7
yes, just got that...i am done...
thanks for the help...
gotta go....goodnight all...
night, pen
lu8, a guitar-like instrument + vowel + one who does
lu8, a guitar-like instrument + vowel + one who does
sa8, a bunch of crackers
that lu8 clue does not seem to work, there is no other vowel next to the end of the guitar-like instrument, except the y... and i THINK i know the one who does that you mean but not 100% sure
oops, change vowel to consonant (oops)
oh ok then it's a different ending than i thought, but i got it now, thanks!
woo hoo !
argh, no points for siderail
Does anyone have a clue for the al7?
hunting for it now
al = al + vowel + not day
ty Gwen
yvw
Anyone have a clue for the AS7?
Let no man put as7
as + not above
Doh! Thanks, Cosmo!
and thanks good enough too!
