"Early" is relative in terms of playing the game. "Early" is whenever you start playing. Some people like the chance to find words on their own. That's why it's cool that you can turn off the chat.

7:47 am

If you can turn off the chat why comment?

7:50 am

If Babblers want clues I do not have a problem with that after all you do not have to read the posts now do we?

i am thinking of closing my door....it's down to 63 here....

11:30 am

wow. but only 70 here

11:31 am

sure molly -- was just thinking though -- what have we come to that beginning the school day with a verse from the Bible or the Lord's Prayer is politically incorrect?

11:31 am

there is also some wind so it seems colder....

11:32 am

well, I was raised Methodist in the Bible Belt, so I hear that a lot, but our country is supposed to have separation of church and state. it's fine if every kid in school is Christian, but if they're not, then the state isn't supposed to force church upon them.

11:34 am

so alternate between each faith represented in the classroom. Some of the messages might acturally sink in -- it certainly isn't going to hurt anyone

11:35 am

I agree Nan. I think starting the day with a spiritual reading from alternating faiths would be a better alternative than nothing.

11:35 am

yeah, I think that would be fine but I could see how problems might arise. the people from the church of satan would want their turn, but then the rest would not want to let them, etc.

11:36 am

and the atheists would be like, we don't want our kids hearing any of them.

11:36 am

I will tell you what I am sick of. Athletes making thousands or millions of dollars competing in the US turning their backs on the American flag. Hey, if you doh't like it, go compete in some other country.

11:36 am

there is a very noisy bird just outside....

11:37 am

SIgh, you are right Carla. Someone is always bitching about something they find "offensive".

11:41 am

I think I would have enjoyed learning a little blurb of another religion or culture starting my day at school when I was a kid, but some people prefer to remain ignorant.

11:45 am

I think I mentioned the youngest just graduated high school - we said the Pledge of Allegiance at the beginning including "under God", and one of the kids (maybe class prez) either said a prayer or had a very christian related speech. We were surprised any of that was allowed.

11:47 am

did you ever find all of the h's carla? still need 3 of them here

11:47 am

I took a class called World Religions in High School (a Catholic High School) and was fascinated by all they similarities in different religions.

11:50 am

I am still missing 7 H words....

11:51 am

For me, this is all a great big cup of nope - both the 'if you don't like the flag leave' and the 'what's the problem with praying in school'. I think TEACHING about faith is fine - RE (religious education) is required in the UK - but imposing a faith - any faith (or indeed the idea that you have to have one at all) is not. You do not need to hear prayers or have a Christian related speech to learn about others' faiths. Prayer is a personal thing (personal to family, to community etc) and has no place in a secular educational setting - and public school should be secular. That isn't to say that individual students can't or shouldn't pray if they so wish but it should absolutely not be led by staff and should not be forced (either by rules or by teacher/peer pressure). And the flag thing - the flag is a symbol. And these athletes are not burning the flag or stamping on it. They are kneeling or turning around to quietly and peacefully protest things that their country are doing, in the hope of changing those things for the better (one knee at a time). Will it work? Meh. Maybe. It is not treason (and the statement 'if you don't like it - EVERYTHING about it - implies that the act of kneeling or turning your back is treason) to find aspects of your country disturbing and worthy of protest. I think it is distinctly un-American to insist on a 'love it or leave it' policy.

11:56 am

is there an a 7 or an s 7?

11:56 am

2:46 pm

2:50 pm

@mlfan17 - it works because the browser is prepending the www to the url prior to sending it. The url is translated to an IP address using a NAT (name-address-translator. If you know how to open a command window in Windows you can type in ping www.cnn.com and see how the translation works.

2:52 pm

for example www.cnn.com is translated to turner-tls.map.fastly.net which is translated to IP 2a04:4242:21::323:

2:53 pm

correction IP = 2a04:4e42:2e::323:

2:55 pm

to see your own IP you can use ipconfig in a cmd window

2:57 pm

or go to whatismyipaddress.com

3:12 pm

3:12 pm
