don't think i've ever heard 35F described as balmy though lol
methinks it was sarcasm
:)
iyeah
gotta say I'm not really liking this grid yet
there are some nice words
I think it is delightful.
we resisted buying a patio heater until this year, but it was nice to be able to sit outside last night without bundling up
:)
it's another grid with duplicate letters leading to too many ways to go like yesterday's
I've tried tepee and teepee 20 times...

patriot here

I see two potatoes

You have to hard refresh, CNTRL + F5
just the opposite happened when i put the one i had been using i had no problems with it
ty molly but its fine
You said you couldn't see it
i know
Whatever
so which one is new? I see a mug with writing in the box, but when I click on you I see the potatoes, but it says something about Aug and this is Sept, so I don't know.
ok, just did hard refresh and now I see the potatoes here. so I guess that is the new one.
Hard to tell. National Potato Day was August 19th
thank you MollyL.. didn't know about hard refresh.. worked great
hello friends. I am not so sure about this grid
hello trif
hello! big moment just happened here - the goats are out in the yard, and a doe came in to the yard, with her two fawns, and yelled at the goats. YELLED
OMG i cannot imagine ANY sound coming from a deer!
it is this very, very strange honking noise, not at all a match with the elegance of the deer
hello again
amaxzing!
does anyone have stats for a word from the corner d ? Everything I've tried comes from the other one
I do……….de 4 8. Uses sometimes vowel

re8/55 what you do to coupons
Ty mymuse. Got it. Great clue
de8 uncurled your hair
the goats were just hanging out in the back, and a doe wandered in with two fawns. All was well for a bit, and then I guess the doe didn't like something the goats said, because she stomped on the ground and HONKED at the goats. I legged it out there to make sure everything was okay, and the doe and the fawns legged it
thanks Jax!
Ty for clue jax
ah, i saw two bucks last night right on a front lawn, they are very displaced due to storm
we have had more issues with displaced turtles, I think. I stopped two lanes of traffic on my way home yesterday to help one across the road, and people clapped!
and gtg...been so long since i've had a real social occaion that i have to do a full beauty routine. if i can remember how!
I can only think straightened. But i got it. Ty

mama deer feeding two fawns in our yard
Ty for all clues.
Hi and bye TO. Enjoy
Watch out for deer tics!!!!!!!!!
people cut through here and cursed at us as we tried to exit our own development.
I didnt' realize we lived that close, bichon, lol
Off for the day.
one women whose house and yard were badly damaged tried to stop traffic to let a tree chipper out, and they cursed at her!!!
They also love to eat from our bird feeder
good bye, see you later gators.

It was such a destructive storm - I hope all of you got through without too much damage.
i will, thank you. having power is an important step in the recovery.
praying for my neighbors.
We are very lucky to be so high up. Feel sorry for the people in NYC who drowned in their basements
I have hit a wall, and can't find a damn thing. Think I will take a break
hello all....
hi pen
hi mymuse...
1950s singer, wrote The Christmas Song, for 10 points.
Mel Torme....
I'm giving you 15 points, penquis, because you're so quick. And a stick of butter for the lobster.
the man with the velvet voice...
tyvm!....
i knew the answer without looking at the grid... ;o)
didn't know he wrote that
He's in an awful movie about a girl's school that I saw on MST3K.
it's just a piece of useless trivia taking up space in my brain....
now I"ve got the lyrics running through my head
poor you...
at least there are lyrics you can understand.. ;o)
here's another musical piece of useless trivia -- who wrote the song "Smile?" (Smile when your heart is breaking, smile when your heart is aching...)
have no idea joy
don't really know that one...someone odd like Louis Armstrong?....
good guess but no
it was sung by most of the crooners
i think i even saw Jerry Lewis sing it once...
so who was it joy?
I think it became Jerry Lewis's theme song...my mother used to watch that telethon and that's what I remember of it.
Anyway, the odd thing about that song is that it was written by Charlie Chaplin.
yes, i think that is where i saw him sing it...
that is odd....did not know that...
no kidding - didn't know he was a musician
apparently he wrote a lot of songs.
He was one of those multi-talented types that make the rest of us look useless. :)
The music was written by Chaplin. The lyrics were added by John Turner and Geoffrey Parsons.
I wonder if Chaplin wrote the scores for his own movies
He did Nan.
Interesting thing about Chaplin, he could play by ear but could not read music.
same thing with Fred Astaire....he played the piano totally by ear....
stats for the I word?
I mean words...
any of the 3 of them
ir 4/5 and im 5/16....don't have the third one...

yw
you obviously didn't read Mc
McCullough's First Man in Rome Trilogy
no.. i haven't .. :D
finally finished the r's
way behind today
That would be Colleen McCullough author of "The Thorn Birds"
Not to be confused with David McCullough, another author.
no - thorn birds was in australia. She also wrote a trilogy set in ancient Rome
The first man in Rome was the first of the trilogy
on my way - hagd everyone
Yes Nan, I know The Thorn Birds was set in Australia. I was making a comment about which McCullough author you meant.
i've never read either McCullough
Colleen McCullough wrote the Rome Series I was talking about: First Man in Rome, The Grass Crown and Fortune's favourites covering a couple of decades and about the Caesar Family. That was followed up by 2 other books: Caesar's Women and Antony & Cleopatra
I've never read anything by DAvid McCullough
David McCullough writes American history fiction
Clue/stats for the 9?
I can't decide if the grid is tricky or if my attention is just too divided.

Clue or stats for the j?

I have a de8 and an re8. What are the other two? Please.
For the non-genius folks...tr + word for anger + not you but __
Okay, no help for the 8s. How about the top row e or the second column e?
top row E is EM5,12. I don't have any second column Es or the other two 8s.
Thx, joy.
A forever word
Thx, molly. Still looking for the em as well
ep + first three of what comes before a word that ends in podge
I always miss that one for some reason. Thx
Now just missing one e from the thrd column. I have the bird, the sword and the mistake....
And the corrected mistake.
Phantoms = tremor and mermen
I can't believe there are still 42 words left to find....
25 left here
hi peri....24 here....
It's neck and neck between Peri and Pen. Who will cross the finish line first? The crowd gasps in anticipation!
well true confession....i just listed... ;o)
what does "just listed" mean?
i am using Lickety's list (link below the grid)....he gives you the first two letters and the point count for every word...
86 left, I'll "show?"
show??
come in third place in a horse race
ah yes....i used to to the races with my father...
sulky races...
O

question: does it cost amything to go pro now?
there is no pro, i don't think....not sure...
DK, I went pro in 2006, it was a bargain!
No charge for the game now. Hasn't been in a while.
i am down to one pesky P....
get it yet, pen?
nope...
How does Dr God make money on this? No ads...
He doesn't anymore.
Then we're lucky this is still going, because he has to host it on a server.
i am done....
yes, and occasionally it crashes....luckily not too often...
woo woo woo, pen! Congrats
tyvm....i enjoyed this grid...
heading out...goodnight all...
Good night, pen - have a good one :)
if there is no charge,, i don't understand why people don't have pro profiles.
why everyone does not, i mean
TRIO
TRIO
OR MAYBE A QUARTET?
I agree, TO (if you're still here)
Yeesh
just wondered if anyone was here
mh
yep, plugging away at the list :)
You have to actually set up a profile to have one. I would imagine a lot of people don't know how to do it.
