i think that is what most people do...

well before Lickety, the list that brandjack posted didn't come for hours. so if you played early, and there were clues, one knew that the effort was collaborative but all human-driven. no computer-based help had been employed. so that was something people enjoyed at that time.

I guess my point is, help is help whether it is the list, or morewords, or asking for clues. But people seem to deem one kind of help okay, but another kind not okay. Like I said, it's amusing.
Personally, I don't care how people play. I was just pointing out something that has always intrigued me.

you often say things are amusing or intriguing but the impression i often get is that you're actually being critical, implying that you think it's stupid. if that's not your intent, well, that's good.
How would you know what my intent was? There is no tone of voice here. No facial features. How you interpret something is on you. If I think something is stupid, I will say it's stupid.

hurshy, this has been addressed on more than one previous occasion, and the tone and behaviour is never altered or modified, if you will. Certain folk, thankfully few, in the chat are always snarky and abrasive. It is one of the reasons I seldom interact here.

I'm finding this grid to be kind of difficult.
it's awful...almost half the letters are vowels...
My rule is that I have to get 2/3 to 3/4 of the words before I list, but I got to barely 2/3 and listed today because ahhhhh.
i try to finish grids under 150 without listing, but i often don't last that long... ;o)
I try that too, penquis, but with limited success.
I've finished small grids without listing only a few times, and always after looking at the clues in chat.
I will never be one of those people who shows up at the flip, immediately posts a bunch of large words, and announces FW ten minutes later.
me either....when i can't sleep and am still awake at 1 a.m., i sometimes go to the flip but only for a short time....
just watching the activity at the flip often gives me a headache. It's so crazed and competitive.
yes, it is a phase of the game that not too many people enjoy....
but if i am at the flip, i try to follow the "rules" and just post stats for longer words.....

I sometimes find it amusing...it's so ridiculously competitive. It makes me laugh when someone posts a stat that was previously posted, and they are chastised for it. As if they are keeping score of how many large words you post in the chat...
well sometimes people just want to know if there is more than one word with those stats....

I agree...I'm sure it's fun for the people who like it, but I find the flip craziness to be stressful, and the competitiveness seems unnecessary, but if they enjoy it, that's fine. It's just not for me.
