night, nan. Thanks, Lickety!
de7
morning all! that v word is a new one for me
wow, a dutch woman. amazing the things i learn at babble.
Similar sounding to the German word for woman. I'm sure Sprite was jazzed to see Dutch in the grid.
i didnt think of that! very smart!

disregard please
hello all
the ds are eluding me today
don't forget the sandwich store
I got that one
and its anagram
I have quite a few, but all short words - I can't imagine what the de7 could be
think of john oglethorpe
those who owe
I have no idea who he is - but Dan's clue I feel will do it :)
Thank you!
yw
Sunbed is absolutely a word!
there's not too much i remember from history class, don't know why oglethorpe managed to stay put in my old brain :)
wasn't an oglethorpe the founder of one of the colonies? south carolina? maryland?
georgia - and also the 'founder' of those de7 prisons
no, georgia
but that was James Oglethorpe
not John
well, i did say i don't remember much - you're right :)
any help for the top E?
to put on your housecoat
ah thanks!
kept trying en + _____ cabinet instead lol
i did, too
That word has so many "other words" for it. Housecoat, duster, kimono, dressing gown. I guess it depends on where you are from. I haven't heard housecoat since my Mom.
My grandma wore housecoats, and called them such
Did she wear slippers with that? Or houseshoes?
Oooh - good question! We joked that we never saw her legs, earlobes or lips - even in a housecoat she always had hose, lipstick and large clipon earrings
My Mom would also call certain slippers "scuffs".
clue for us5 please?
i think scuffs is the kind that are open at the back?
never mind
No, grandma's were never open at the back - they were fabric pumps, sort of
Yeah, a lot of my Mom's slippers were the open at the back kind. She wore slippers because she didn't like bare feet. The complete opposite of me, who would live barefoot if it were possible.
We referred to slippers without backs as scuffs too.
clue for ob please?
add anagram of a fib
thank you

hello all...
good morning pen
Saint Penquis. If you read around the board it is so close to Life As Nuns : D
ah, a blessed grid then!....
would that become a habit then?
holy babble! I think so!...
Any clues for the E top row? Or the N word in fourth column? Thanks.
sorry, don't have it yet....
en 6-7
E was clued 8:15
n is hawaiian goose
aha, thanks lindy and welki
oh, and nan
Ty got the e words. Ty.
ruru, paging ruru
Darn that goose i never ever remember the word. Ty.
yes dear?
Got the goose. Ty.
were you playing serpentine last night?
Ty all.
me?
clue for fe6 please?
yes, you, as a guest
fe6 anise
oh yup that was me
fe 6 is something you might put in your salad or cook your mussels with (i don't like them that way)....
I knew that punster was you but you must've missed when I asked in the chat
Great clue for fe. Ty\
thank you.
all my jokes there go for Naught
Ccorn
Ooops sorry
just too little time to respond
I have never had fe6 in a salad
i made one once...
I eat straight fe6 salad, with mustard dressing
not sure I've had fe6 before in anything
i make all kinds of fe6 dishes.. so deliciosu
I've never had it fresh
I hate i cooked, so I only eat it freshed
where is harry, missing all this talk
I was going to grow some this year but almost everything was killed in an unexpected late spring frost
Tastes like anise so if you like that it is delicious. But i can only take a small amount.
the trick is to have a pot of hot boiling water with a touch of salt.. and a big bowl of water with an ice bath.. you thinly slice the fe6 and toss in the pot for ONE MINUTE.. and drain and put in the ice bath.. then add to salads
Interesting. Ty
thanks ruru, I'll try to remember that
never thought of blanching it and using it in a salad - will have to try that
I hate liquorice, so cooked fe is too much
wow.. i love licorice
yeah, not a licorice fan either
I like licorice but my husband does not
but the dressing makes the raw fe salad, just oil, vinegar, yellow mustard, and salt and pepper. it's delicious!
I think it's one of those divisive love it or hate it tastes like cilantro (which I love so much I want to marry it)
i loooove cilantro too
my neighbor thinks it tastes like soap...
i make a fe6, avocado, grapefruit, shrimp, radish and endive salad with a champagne vinaigrette
that's genetic pen..
yes, the haters have a genetic thing that makes it taste like soap
interesting recipe, ruru, trying to imagine that and getting stuck on the grapefruit
pink grapefruit segments.. and a touch of the left over juice in the dressing with mustard, Champagne Vinegar, olive oil White balsamic vinegar and salt and pepper
grapefruit interferes with some meds though
statins...
I think HBP meds
ah
cholesterol meds....
phantom doctors. I'm sure someone else has seen and called it
grapefruit is the only thing that triggers my skin sensitivities, it's weird
then you must have a zest for life mael
co 7 please?
eye part nan
do you have the co 2/27?....alt spelling...
both are co 7 words...ru's and mine....
there are 2 co 7
wow, I thought the 6 was a phantom. can't look in other directions!
sorry - have the eye part - looking for co 7/40
that would be mine...
ty pen
yw....
I don't have the 6/27 pen, any other clue?
but is yours co6/27? you said 2, but I assume it has to be 6.
mine is , yes....co 7 is an alt sp of that word....
and I realize now I had blended yours and ru's clues and was trying to make an alt sp of an eye part
isn't the 6/27 the centre stone of an arch?
no idea
it is an architectural term, yes....don't know exactly...
still haven't found it, but I generally don't know architecture words
just add a letter inside that word....
just "officially" on the U right now
i'm not finding that co 6/27
the top stone in an arch is a keystone
or capstone. Not sure what you guys are talking about
ends like what some cows have around their necks....
I'm assuming the 3rd letter is one thing but maybe that is where I'm going wrong.
we're talking about the co 6/27
maybe it is a corner stone -- something to do with those 13C churches
ah, it was the 4th letter
thanks. a new word for me.. never saw that before
my friends mother used to call her in for supper by ringing one of those (the cow thing).....
it's a timber supporting a girder
guess I am brain dead today
and the 7 is a sculptured ornament, usually a basket
a sculptured ornament, especially on a capital, having the form of a basket....
ok, finally got it
i know nothing about architecture....
yes pen - just remember the word from the descriptions of some of those buildings we toured in Europe
you just start reading about it pen and then build on your knowledge :D
yes....my alt sp clue was just to give you five of the six letters....
i will plan to do that, ru....
I assume the v is a VR?
nm
35 left after first pass 😡
those su words are all new to me except for the two obvious ones
great...something to look forward to...
I have 2 SU and they are regular. guess I will start making some up!
got a set I think we've had before
that's the attitude!....
ooh....found one...
yes - I found the compound on my own, but needed the list for the rest
i'm stuck with 7 to go
are there more than five SU words?...
6 si
su x6
6 su that is
ok, thanks...need one more...
I only need 2 S's. looks like both SU then.
i have one, but i am missing one SU word...
sunrot - what our porch railing got due to the morning sun blasting on it for years
ooh, found one
su 6 x3
ok, then my last is not a 6
i have those...figured i was missing a five...
*!*~*!*
congrats....
good job
ty, but I did go to the list at 24
i am at 28 now...

hey car! how go the cookies?
co 7/40, pls
hi car...
hi car
Hi! Really well...booked up through ChristmasQ!
wow
that was the basket shaped stone at the top of the column - ends sort of like what hangs around the cow's neck
or hangs from the cows neck
Happy to be "off" monsters now. LOL
are you a cookie maker, car?
I follow her on instagram, they are amazing and beautiful
Yes, pen! hundredacrecookies.com and on Instagram
Thank you :)
my niece is a cookie maker....danys cakes Maine on Facebook....
I'm working a one-year old birthday set right now...woodland creatures and buffalo plaid! So excited!
Oooooh! Looking now!

I also follow a local lady here so sometimes I forget whose is whose
bye nan, you too
co 7/40, pls
bichon, that's what nan was just talking about in response to your request. we talked about it a lot just a bit ago.
danyscakesbydanylind?
your cookies are beautiful, car....
yes, car...
Oh my goodness!!! She is AMAZING!
yes, she is a cookie artist... ;o)
do you go to Cookie Cons?...she has taught at those...
now I gotta follow her too 🤣
I'm planning on attending next year. I just sent her a message.
she even makes cookies that look like popsicles....she has done workshops on those...
I'm hoping in the coming year to travel around new England and meet up with some of the cookiers. I will happily take a trip to Maine!
i know she has met some of them, not sure though...
There is one in Attleboro, Fall River, Sudbury, etc. Want to talk cookie with people who get me!
I've only been doing this since 2019, so I have so much to learn.
LOL....she has been doing this a while...started as something she could work at from home with three small boys at the time....now one is a college grad, one in college and one a junior in high school....
24 left - still 7 4's I guess I will work on
i am stalled at 23....
missing 8 fours...
car, I would never guess you have only been doing it a few years.
I was dabbling at Christmas and then my mum died and I needed something to focus on.
that's how the cookie crumbles hokie
well you've done very well!....
Thank you :)
i looked at them too car.. they're really cute
Thank you ruru
I don't get much time to do cookies I would like to do...most are custom orders...but I am thankful for the business and the chance to be at home.
when my mom dies I won't be baking cookies
but I'm glad you had a close family and you're doing it to feel good and having fun with it.
It was either that or fall apart ... so I picked that.
anything that makes one feel better is a good thing. Good on you
I need something right now. having a bit of empty nest syndrome.
It was so much to process after caring for her for 10 years. And then Dad died in November, so I just kept going.
glad you found something you love to do...
What do you like to do Carla? What have you always wanted to try but never have.
I wish I believed in myself as much as others do...but hopefully that will come.
well I like to sew but just kind of in limbo right now because I don't want to unpack everything in our temp. house. I might bake a cake today.
it just begins with little acknowledgements car..
it's so cold here today (I know it's warmer than up there, but too cold)
one step at a time...
There you go! Is there something you could make sewing wise for a local community group (scarves, mittens, or other)?
44 here right now...
Hi folks. Your cookies look wonderful, car.
Thank you origami
hi ori...
45 here, so not much warmer
i am actually ok with the temp....too warm for snow... ;o)
i much prefer summer around here
I have this additional problem of trying to get rid of my barbie collection so I can have more room to unpack things in my sewing room.
Hubs and I just commented how lovely it is even though it is 43
yesterday it was 44 and rainy, feels like 40. that's the worst, I'd rather have snow in that case.
Do you want to get rid of the collection?
That seems like a lifetime love!
cold rain does suck
I've also become more active in my church (Lay Leader) and I have found that incredibly rewarding and healing.
well i am taking a break...bbl to finish...bye all....
By pen! TY for introducing me to your niece ?)
:)
yeah, I haven't been collecting since the early 2000s and they've just been hanging out in my basement in a closet until we moved, so I need to just get rid of them. my mom said I could bring them to her basement but it's unfinished and I don't think they'd fare well there. been trying to sell them on ebay but it's a lot of work.
Ugh...that is tough.
mr. homie wants to just drop them at goodwill
Ummmm...no.
I might try to find another charity that's more women/kids focused or one that can sell them (for not $1 each) themselves.
Do you have a local historical society that has events? Perhaps see if there is an opportunity there for a auction item?
or I might try to rent a space at a local flea market a couple of weekends (but you have to get there at like 5am. ugh)
Is there not a Facebook group or online group that you could offer to sell them through? It seems to me that there should be! Barbie is history!
They have a really great ad out for this holiday season.
Very inclusive and inspiring for EVERYONE to play with dolls.
even mine from the 70s/80s aren't worth that much. barbie collecting got really big and then the bottom dropped out. I have a few that are not worthless and will definitely put those on ebay.
Well, I wish you luck! Keep me posted! I can spread the word around here to see if anyone is looking.
but like the other night I listed one for $46 (I always look at the ones that have sold recently and price likewise) and someone sent me a message within 10 min - "will you take $20?". um, no. I'll let the auction run for a week and see what happens first.
thanks!
Atta girl!
Ok...icing is ready! Off I go! Have a great day everyone!
I also have all the Disney pin trading pins from when my boys were little. I did see there is a FB group or two for that so may try it.
ooh, yum. you have a good one!
Truth...I HATE royal icing. I'd rather eat cookies plain.
LOL
Don't tell!
but it makes them so pretty
A former colleague of mine had a side business where he would do glam photo shoot of gay men's Barbies. It was pretty creepy.
Oh myyyyyyyy
that literally made me LOL, ori
do you ever have times where someone brings treats to work and you eat it and then you regret it
I used to
What happened hurshy?
well, since I can't eat anything I wouldn't
donuts - the gal who brought them insisted i should have one because i hadn't tried them from that donut shop before
i wish i had at least just only eaten half
they just weren't good? or you got sick?
Oh no!
Yummmm ... donuts.
it was ok, and i didn't get sick, it's just that gross too-full feeling where you know that you just ate an awful lot of non-nutritious calories that you hadn't planned on eating
Doh!
ori is homer simpson
I HATE that feeling.
Ok...really going now.
ori is but then car is too lol
and so is car
At least it wasn't a forbidden donut, hokie :D
but i definitely didn't see what all the fuss was about, they were acting like this shop had such amazing donuts
phantom cobra
and burn and sunburn
still need 5 c's!
3 here, but 6 S words
finished the S. need 3 u's and everything else is one or two
how on earth did you finish the S
i only got 5 on the top one

Su6/39 please? Tx!!
oh i just found a couple
one was a weird sa past tense
oooh thanks une
like a colorful thing caused by rain, une, but in this case not rain
like the ROYGBIV arc, but change the first part of the compound word to its opposite
Thanks!
unsane in the membrane. unsane in the brain!

haven't found one but still need 2
No gn

that old peri principle is so reliable
Indeed!

still need 1 T on the bottom for first col
any TW?

nm, a sewing word
no TW's
the peri principle
i wanted odeon to be my last O but it is only a phantom :(

carla....have you done the Bee today?....it's the quickest I have gotten to Genius... ;o)
yes, pretty easy today. was mad when I looked at yesterday's - only missed 3 words and they were regular words.
bummer...
i only missed one yesterday....emcee....
cameo, emcee, and mecca
that's an even bigger bummer, so close
yes, frustrating not to know how close you are when you are playing...
I did peek at the hints and saw I needed 3 words, but I did not look at the hints to see what they started with.
I know today I still need 7 words, but that doesn't really help me.
to make genius?
to find them all
ah....i understand....hints told you how many words there are....
I made genius and found one or two more
i haven't tried that...
yes, exactly
so I don't really feel it's cheating since it doesn't really help me, just tells me how close I am. do I want to keep going or just be content with genius.
how many are there today?
28 today. I have 21.
i understand...
i have 25, so i have three left to find....
total words is on the same line as total points (which also really doesn't help) and no. of pangrams and whether there's a bingo (word from each letter), so I try to look just at the total words only.
i see...
good luck to you!
ty, to you, too...
gotta go....bbl....bye....
thanks
gotta go. finally getting our motorhome from the shop.
Wow. How disappointing. All this time I have been waiting for the movie version of "Wicked" and they cast Ariana Grande as Glinda. WTF?
hahaha
well Glinda the good witch doesn't have a very big part.....
I have no idea, just trying to encourage you

Hi all
Hi, joy.

e
hi again...I'm close to done but not seeing the US words. Anyone out there have a clue?
If you switched the second and third letters it would mean not an ocean?
nm...monkeyed it
An6/18? Please? Not getting it from wht's clue.....
Very twisty - does a loop, and finishes with three consonants
Actually more like a figure 8 than a loop
ends with the abbreviation for catholic holy person
That doesn't help me :-(
Such as Valentine, Nicholas, Cecilia
Thanks!!!!
yw
co7? it was the first called at the flip but I can't see it
Part of the eye
oh I have that one
I need the co7/40 sorry
French word: "a sculptured ornament, especially on a capital, having the form of a basket"
If you have the co6/27 following it, just insert an extra vowel in the last syllable

ty

you are welcome
do you have a clue for the an 7 that I am blind to?
it means worm. an7 of boleyn + eye or pot cover
great clue, Dan. Thanks. I have been away for a while and have forgotten many odd words that always show up here and nowhere else in life.
you are most welcome
Your daughter is sure growing up fast. I remember the birth watch with great fondness.

hi all. first co7 please
31 left
nm
ok, I'm back for a bit
Could you share that first co7 please?
for 52?
do you have the co6 for 27?
if so, just insert another vowel toward the end
No.... don't have co6/27
ok, 6 co is a kind of bracket
I'm down to 3. G and two UNs
I'm down to those two co's
My last two words
I have only the G word !!!
found a corvid
woo hoo
Fireworks!
Congrats!
Clue for co6/27? A non-bracket clue? :-)
I think the thick bracket is also maybe french for basket
or a basket shape used in architecture
French for basket is panier
is a structural piece of stone, wood or metal jutting from a wall to carry a superincumbent weight, a type of bracket.
Jane, need any others
Ok....found the co6/27....now just need the co7/40
stick a vowel, next to last position
Fw!!!
woo hoo
Whew....
It's a workout!!! Night!
De 5/16 not the one that’s beneath me lol
