HOET - goodnight everyone :)

Good night, nan
Good night, Nan - good luck with the flooding
night, nan. Stay dry!
we are up high enough that our area won't flood, but it is bad on Vancouver Island and the lower mainland. Every highway between us and Vancouver has been closed due to flooding and mudslides. We will probably be isolated for a acouple of days --- the produce stores in the grocery stores were empty today and I guess I had better go out tomorrow aand stock up on TP!
*produce shelves
oh and one town in the next valley over from here is entirely flooded --- 7000 people evacuated
my brother lives on a reservation in Washington State. the flooding near his house has gone down, but there as a landslide near his home today
my brother lives on a reservation in Washington State. the flooding near his house has gone down, but there as a landslide near his home today
hope you ok Nan
Yes, I heard that there is currently no land access to Vancouver at all
yes the highways are really in bad shape. There was a junior hockey team returning from Calgary that was stuck in one of the mudslides for several hours.
i hope that everyone navigates this natural disaster safely
me to Ati

Unless we can get the worlds polititions to move their butts and do something more about the causes of global warming, I am afraid this is going to be our future
agreed
me, too
Oh, I think I mistakenly called an oc8 earlier - should have been oc7 (x 2).
I have an ac 8
found the word and didn't notice, gilie
really off this time - 60 left for tomorrow
6 words lwft from today's grid after first pass. Will leave the rest for later.
found a river animal
Morning all. Does anyone have stats, please, for the lone A in the top row?
I think it is the ad5.14
I shall hunt! Thanks
Found it, thanks!
yw
I'm just not seeing that AC8...can anyone guide me, please?
The ac7 ends in the interest _____ on a loan. The 8 is past tense.
Looking and thinking - thanks
And finding. Thanks again!
hello all
Hey, aslindy :-)
Hi aslindy and Une.
FW - could have done without the CA 8/9s, though :)
Congrats, IG.
thanks, Scrabbler
I must get ready for work. See you tomorrow.
Hi and bye, scrabs :-)
Hi and bye, scrabs :-)
Morning, Une
proper noun: home of inspector barnaby
Top row done.
nice, bea
Causton
wel done, saanichcat!
Not being a Brit TV watcher, so much goes over my head
it's one of my very favorite shows
Which on is it, lindy?
Midsomer Murders
I've watched a few episodes.
thanks aslindy, I love that show.
have you seen the latest season, 23?
sadly, no. A treat for the dead of winter I guess. Just waking to WaterWorld here in BC
I won't mention any spoilers, then
thanks!
Midsomer - the most dangerous village in the UK
yes but Midsomer is the county, not a village :)
OK, the most dangerous County in England - explains why no maps show it ;)
Look at that. An American correcting a Brit on Brit geography.
Well, on fictional British geography ;)
hahaha!
yes, I only know fictional geography, sadly
I love Wiki's description of the show '... to solve numerous murders that take place in the picturesque but deadly villages of the fictional county of Midsomer.'
That show has 23 seasons? And they say "Grey's Anatomy" goes on forever.
yes, 23 so far. and there likely will be more.
It's amazing there's anyone alive in that county
but only 4 - 8 episodes per season
I am super excited today. my daughter found out yesterday she got the new job she'd applied for!
Wow, short seasons. Seems like you could barely get a complete story done in that short of a time.
molly each episode is 90 minutes, so more like a movie.
Interesting.
British TV is something else - one of the things that most amuses me is that shows may not start on the hour or half hour - shows can begin at, say, 7.40, or 7.25
Particularly on the BBC, because of the no advert thing
yes, if you google how many murders in midsomer, you will find a website or two dedicated to counting them all.
Why is that so, matty?
Well, if the BBC shows American programmes, a half hour programme is really only around 24 minutes
US shows are more like 21 min and 42 min
ridic
less so these days with shows being produced by the platform that air them, like HBO, Netflix or Amazon
they generally run an hour per episode for those miniseries
yes, thank goodness
If you have a look here http://www.tvguide.co.uk/ you'll see that a British daytime soap - Doctors - starts at 1.45 and ends at 2.15 (it's a home grown soap) - on BBC 2 we have Coast, starting at 2.35
The only good things about ads is they allow a bthroom break.
and thankfully these days you can pause!
the ads are either all drugs or liberty mutual, which makes me want to stab my ear drums out
but we haven't had cable for years at this point, my children don't even know what tv ads are
We wouldn't have cable except for my mom.
we don't have cable either but have hulu live for sporting events and sporting events are riddled with ads.
Name that proper noun...Puccini opera
toscana
Tosca
Ding ding! Both win a pair of opera glasses.
wow, I have somehow found both 9s without trying
Not surprising. They are neither obscure nor laid out weird.
eh, I still haven't found them. :)
so good work hokie!
I'm sure if I'd know what the stats were I would still be looking.
thanks, mael ðŸ˜
I haven't looked at stats or anything yet, though I'm assuming they are both plurals?
both past tense
ahhh that was the other option!

I was channeling Ruby. I miss her.
Help me out. Is Ruby a friend on here?
Ruby â¤ï¸
she was a long time player who died last year or so
She was a dear babbler that sadly passed away.
Oh my.... I'm so sorry.
Who also took no nonsense from anybody.
She really liked you Zoom. She was impressed by the way you take care of your folks. And no, Miss Ruby took no shit from no one.
Loved Ruby
ruby was a dear, she is deeply missed
stuck with 32 left. guess I will take a break.
well.. the 9's are easy to find today
one of them takes a lot of balls to find though
:)
or no balls?
yeah.. there's two ways to look at it cosmo :D
:)
good morning everyone :)
hi nan
gm Nan :)
are you getting lots of rain ruru, or are you south of it?
no rain here.. well south of it.. it sure looks rough on Vancouver Island
Vancouver too. We are isolated -- all highways closed with washouts and mudslides.

It was about that when I left his morning….
how many R's do you have? still need 5 and at a complete loss.
oh, there's one
and 2 more
hi again - managed to find some produce at our local grocery store. Glad I went at 8 am though - the other grocery store in the neighbourhood lost power in last night's thunderstorm for 10 hours and were busy throwing all the perishables and frozen foods out.
yikes
Looks like the main highway between us and Vancouver will be closed for at least a month if not longer. It suffered 4 mudslides and at least one washout
* for those of you who live in flatlands, that is a disaster in the mountains --- rebuilding roads with such variances in elevation takes a long time.
sorry to hear that, nan!
Sorry to hear it…
I wasn’t ignoring you, carla….just got distracted….i am missing three Rs….
oh well - the airlines will be happy :)
no problem, pen. I went and did some crosswords.
NTPN….town in Midsomer Murders….site of the police station…
causton

still need 5 s's. what are these words?
I am missing seven Ss….and still missing two four letter words…
Hi all. Need clue and stat for top row A word please. And also missing the 8s and 9s. Ty.
I was stuck on 2 4's for a while, but I think my last 2 were regular words.
the 9s are easy past tenses today, mkg. I am confident you can find them.
Ad 5/14….
top A is ad5/14
Ty
Un 9….â€he died because his illness was un 9â€â€¦.
oh brother! just stumbled across the frenchified group of 8
Ty
what is that, nan? I assume oc something?
still need 3 o's here
yes oc 7
Geez, nan…..don’t remember seeing that before…
Got the 9. Ty.
Not seeing the ad. Any clue?
me neither - listing now
I don't have a chance then on the oc7 since I don't do french
A + a four letter D word…
frenchy ending
Carla….it’s one of those cure french endings….
I do have one oc7 but it doesn't mean that
oh geez, thanks, pen.

Yw…
in english the ending is used to indicate a diminutive form of something
No, i have the ca 8….
me too
IG did not like the ca 8 and ca 9… ;o0
I have left: DD AA T RR T T CC AAAA OO SSSSS
ca 8 and ac 8
I am probably missing most of your words, though I am only missing two from the bottom A….
I have oc 7 but not seeing the 8. Hmmm
There is no oc 8…
I don’t think… ;o)
Thanks.
7-8 combo that has no def. but wondering if it has something to do with maple trees
Ty for the ac stat…found it…

De-sex a male, past tense

Just to clarify, there are three st7. One is past tense and the other two end in vowels.
clue for de6 please?
your fire alarm can de6 smoke
thanks. I must be blind.
I am too, just noticed a plural :)
well, those were my last 2 D's. I'm blind as well.
i did not de6 the de6
I did not de6 the de6 either
still trying to get the ac7/8
ac7/8 ends in a loan's interest _____ and past tense

down to AA T RR T T C AA OO SS
0-6-6-2-0
I'm sure catmeat is a thing somewhere (sorry, hurshy)
I bet one of your missing Os sounds like a female octopus :)
I think that's the one nan said earlier was a french group of 8.
so, I have that
I do have one OT and 5 OC
yeah, then you're probably missing a latin plural and one that ends in consumed food
or wait, you have the seven. So shorten the 7
I have oc5 and oc7 that look similar
and then the group of 8 oc5/7
and then an oc4
there's an oc6 between that 5 and that 7
ah, a pl, thx
it's oc4, oc5/6/7, then another oc5/6 and the frenchish oc7
oh lord, my last word was the un9. Good thing they were obvious today! FW!
ah, so it's another 6. will look, thanks.
well done!
I told you this morning they were obvious!😜
12 left here. obviously going to need the list.
totally obvious. I just was blind to them most of the day haha
found a word!
twist turny grid today
not seeing the 2nd oc5/6
the 2nd is a group of 8
maybe I am missing the first oc5/6
o + the rich dairy product used in coffee minus the last letter
ty Molly
the first 7 is like when you make a baby you pro*, then the 5 is dropping letters and the 6 is latin pl
got them ty carla
so what's everyone's hardest letter today? mine is S
S was probably my hardest one too
i have 5 of them to go
oh, say, what is the other 8 besides ca8?
oh nvm i scrolled down and saw
and i see thare are 3 st 7 so that is exciting because i have none
woohoo, that's 3 Ss closer to being done!
18 left....doing after school pickup....back later
hmmm... af6...

this is gonna be my new strategy... mention what i'm looking for but WITHOUT a question mark. that way i get the peri effect without making anyone feel a need to respond :)

ar 7 is past tense of ar6
