hello babblers!
hey M
Loooooong day.
any flooding out by you?
Not that I'm aware of.
But I've been in the tax office from 7:30 this morning 'til about 1/2 hour ago
oh my! that's a long day.
Yeah.. I know my brain is fried, because I REALLY wanted "earwad" to be a word. I mean I knew it wasn't, but I really wanted it to be.
that's when one's ear is full of wax - they have an earwad
Yeah. Tim gets them.
Didn't have a word for it. Now I do.
coined today!
You're welcome
say WHAT?!?!? It is not a word to be even more ...pi4?
Not coining that one.
one who pi 4 is there
Yeah I got that one :)
yep, i've known many pi 4 +y people, lol
I got a 9, yay.
the 9s and 10 have been elusive - care to hint at your 9?
re9 sounds like something a new agey person would encourage one to be.
hmmmm......
sounds better if it's in french though.. if you believe it you can achieve it.. :)
yes! the french hint got me there, plus related
Thought it might
thanks to Phil Blix for getting me hooked on French
You ever listen to Pomplamoose on youtube? Natalie Dawn does things in french sometimes.
no, but I'll look for it
Pink Martini is a favorite of mine, I've been lucky to see them several times over the years
Look for "an old French tune"
I've seen Pink Martini several times also. They are wonderful.
Hi seain!
My oldest likes pink martini.
I was able to see them in September in an open-air concert, the first they've played since lockdown - it was wonderful! Everyone was there - one of the beauties of being in Portland, their hometown
Nice!
And hi Seain!
Ok, on that note (pun intended) I'm going off to sleepyland. Happy hunting, friends.
night mich
Pink Martini....lucky you!
My coworker follows Pink Martini - he gave me a CD, not bad ;)
Gads, I feel like Nan. I 've never heard of Pink Martini.
just began. blacked out the first tile with no 4! very odd
Ho, Harry, go.
I mean GO Harry go.
Ho scrab!
it's what my girls say to their horses :)
Ho, ho.
"artesian" was not found in the dictionary
grrrr
I was so proud of myself for finding that.
I have many proud moments with phantoms.
Same here, Harry!
it's not usually capitalized, is it?
Don't think so
hmph.
It seems to be non-proper.
180 left and I must get ready for work. Enjoy the day.
bye scrab!
Hagd scrabs!
hello all
dr6, dr6, dr6, i made you out of clay...

dopest
Unusual word for the Enable word nerds to include. It must have some Middle-English meaning.
so you're saying it's not the dopest? 🤣

You just keep dancing in your MC Hammer pants, Carla

hmm, no pissier
Should be. She is in a pissier mood than she was yesterday.
exactly
That diaper is pissier than the last one I changed.
I suppose we would be told to say "more pissy".
though not quite what I had in mind, that works too I guess
Pissier didn't work..... sigh
Yeesh, I was just reading about that couple that stole 18 million securing phoney pandemic small business bailout loans. People can be despicable.

phantom: patisserie
You might want to try that again, mael.
or rather, I might want to try the baker rather than the baked goods :)
Yes. =)
heh
only if you knead him
Tx mael! Got pa9 baker!
I head he makes a lot of dough
:D great typo
sorry .. i have a crusty sense of humor
what a heel
Well, apparently my mind is in the gutter even when I am not aware it is
HA.
truly a lot of well-bred people here
I would do LOL but that'd be kind of crumby
Mr. Bea just told me there might be a creature stirring in our kitchen. Yea!
You folks are a riot!
so much for 'not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse'
it's next month when the creatures aren't stirring Bea
I do attract the rodents.
maybe it's larry's cheesy personality :D
Could be that too.
His has a lot of "dad" jokes.
yep, last week, a rat, albeit not stirring

PB for me
When I was a single mom, I wrote my version of The Night Before Christmas.
I wish I still had a copy of it.
how long were you a single mom before you met Mr. Bea
Ten years.
I used to write an "office version" of The Night Before Christmas. That was back when I liked the people I worked with.
he married you with kids?
Yes, he did. One teen daughter and one preteen daughter. He is a brave man.
that's how you know he's a good one :)
what a great guy.. that's challenging to come into that
I knew I liked him a lot
Estrogen oozed from the walls...
People marry partners who have children all the time. How do you think they became The Brady Bunch?
I have always had Larry's opposite problem. All that testosterone and me.
it's hard to handle either way I'd guess. marrying into a set family
definitely
here's the story
He is great with them. They love him much. They told me they would go with him if we divorced. =)
aw
that's special
(and a bit creepy)
Carla! Carla! Carla!
I don't think Larry and I had been together more than three weeks all totaled before we got married.
wow
omg.. bea!! really?
We met on the internet.
He was living in Raleigh and I was living in KS.
oh... interesting
which part of the internet?
We traveled to see each other.
Wow, you talk about a whirlwind courtship. Most people hardly know each other after three weeks.
Carla, don't make Bea give up her sex chat rooms.
(bea is sounding a bit like Kim Kardashian right now)
We got to know each other in a single parent list serve back in the day.
my husband and I were married within 6 months of when we met. next year will be 35 years.
wow.. I took a LOT longer to get married
The first time we met was in May, 1999. We married on Jan1, 2000.
I don't recommend it for everyone, but it worked for us
but then she had to adjust to my sick humor
speaking of whirlwind - you all know the song Third Rate Romance? I knew the Sammy Kershaw version and just in the last year or so discovered that was a remake and all the time I was hearing whirlwind rendezvous, I was wrong. what a mondegreen!
I have 75 words left for this afternoon. Got to get someting done.
mr. homie and I met in Aug '93 and then got secretly engaged that Dec. didn't marry until after I graduated college though, so Jan '95.
tell mr bea we all appreciate him around here
could anyone please clue me the pa/60. I just cannot get it. I know the first 3 letters but am stuck after that.
Secretly engaged?
so bea and larry were very hopeful the Y2K bug didn't ruin their wedding
yes, engaged but no one knew, hence the secret
Why did you keep it a secret?
pa 9...includes a double consonant and ends in a "more so" type ending....
probably because we were still in college? or we just didn't want anyone to know?
hey pen!
pa 9 clued just a bit ago as a pastry baker
croissant our hearts and hope to die
Any clues for the top corner i word? Ty.
you were saving that one to bring it back around, right?
Ru, you take the cake
mkg...is 5/10....japanese word often seen here....
the japanese american we have all the time, mkg
It might be a Japanese word
Ty for is word. Got it.
Pa: i looked up the word and it says not in dict. Hmmmm.
it's a French word...
in any case, mkg, i clued it for you....
Oh got it because spelling is different. Ty
Any clues for the 10?
they are two different words
I like to rise to the occasion molly..
one's the baker and one's the baking
oh ruru
like yeast mael :D
Good morning, all. I see we are immersed in leaven levity.
hi judi...
Any clues and stats for the 10?
the 10 starts with di
di10,84
Thanks. Any clues for what the word means?
Does it come from di 6?
no, from di9
the 9 means to scatter
the 10 is the one who does it
nbs. ty asl
110 to go here.
Dont have di 9
if an octad is a group of 8, why isn't septad a group of 7
it ought to be
there are many examples of enable being persnickety like that
they're ok with ethane, but not nonane
di 9 and 10 have double letter
thanks lindy.. i got it
now missing just one d
I still need 10 D's
me too
but I wasn't paying attention to all the big clues
found it.. locating a spot on a public bus
Is there a meaning for the di 9/10?
yes, at 9:02
100 to go
aslindy gave you one....read the chat... ;o)
gotta get ready for class. have fun!
Throwing in the towel with 165 left. Blech.
bye, harry...
bye, judi...
but googling septad tells me it's not really a word. from what I read, I think octad is greek which would make the 7 heptad. if only moo were here to explain it to me.
the Classic Thesaurus says that septad and septet are both groups of seven....
interesting, so I guess we can blame enable then
yes, i suppose...
Pen, your explanation is good for me : D
Tx for the 9 and 10!
I think I'm going to need more help with that. "to scatter" makes me think disperse which isn't there.
to fade away, hokie
Good clue mael!!
hokie it has a double letter, too
aha, thanks
was trying to make a plural
no, not plural
it's weird that even though the def is to scatter, fade away made more sense to me
it can also mean to vanish, so I think that makes sense
I think of like smoke or steam or just a vapor
yes, exactly that
If smoke or steam di9s then it fades away and vanishes so all are correct.
yes
but scatter makes me think of marbles, etc
yeah, scatter made me think of disperse too
Still cant find the di word.
Okay this has been WAY over thought
lol, I was just about to say if we didn't give it away now...
Just cant see the di words. Darn darn darn.
I only think descend…
The scent will di9 as the mixture dries, and opening a window or running a fan can help lessen the odor.
di + double letter + vowel + top of head
Or we could just spell it out
just found 4 words based on what I thought was merely a phantom
I mean, that's as much a hint as I can give without actually spelling it
GOT THE WORDS! TY. Whew. That was a long try.
Off to babysit.
Ty for all the clues.
glad you got them
still have 90 words left somehow

The people who plan things in my office are so lame. They have not even started to plan the company Christmas party. Good luck getting a venue. I am sure they are all booked up by now.
maybe you should get on the committee
This is a family-owned business. It is run by a very tight-knit circle.
ah
say no more
Back when I was an office manager and I planned the Christmas party, it was confirmed by Halloween.
so, let me get this straight... the well word AR8 is not actually a word. is it proper noun?
100 to go..... whew....
maybe they aren't doing a Christmas party this year 😱
No they are, they are having a meeting about it today. Good luck with that.

You have 2/3 of the words and can't find the other 1/3. That's how. : D

my mouse has decided to stop working :(
my brain has decided to stop working

I've never seen it spelled that way
translations from hebrew do vary quite a bit. different alphabets, etc.
my question is why are all the foreign language words we get in a game that is supposedly in English
the dr word is Yiddish [low German]
so many oddities. why pi 5/12 here - proper noun, yes?
oh tx bichon. although yiddish does incorporate hebrew, and is written in hebrew characters. confusing kind of.
yes and Hebrew incorperates Yiddish
pa 9 please?
one who makes pastries.
in a certain european nation.
umm. not sure really bichon. My sense and exp. is monern hebrew, being a reinvented language is fairly yiddish free.
tried the french bakery, that didn't work
orthodox in israel speak a jumble of both languages. esp. older people.
the baker, nan
I've lived in Israel and Yiddish is freely added. When people join the army, they learn a lot of Yiddish
oh, i see. tx for that.
should have specified hebrew as it was invented. didn't realize yiddish crept in so widely in the every day speaking - interesting.
wish i knew more yiddish. actually i know hardly any.
I only wish my father had spoken Yiddish at hom. Marrying a German, it would have been useful
ty - when I hear french baker, I think boulanger --had to figure out what a dessert chef would be
I found 9 and 10
finally have all of the 9's - does anyone want all of the stats for them?
I have them too. Thank you for the offer though.

I think that is the one that starts like a snake and end with the picninc pest.
Ends in picnic pest.

last re7 please
not sure what they call it over thre but re7.32 is a used car tyre that has new 'rubber' put on it
got it thanks lynn
and done happy babbling
congrats Peri
I know better than to ask this, but why does Enable not accept the well?
because it is art etc?
I asked earlier as well
hmmm - thought the R was missing but no
now I'll wonder!
I know that the answer is that Enable is Enable and it does what it does and it has only a passing aqaintence with English.
it is in merriam-webster if that makes you feel better
thanks for the tire clue, lyn. that is what they are called here too!
Enable isn't exactly a curated dictionary. My impression is that it was produced largely by algorithmically scouring existing data sources when it was created, using somewhat imperfect methods to eliminate "non-words".
well usually when people ask about an exclusion it is a proper noun, or hyphenated, or an arbitrary superlative/comparative or one who does something word. but artesian is none of these things.
just found 4 brit spelled words I missed earlier. so hard to see those.
feel the same way about american spellings!
ðŸ˜
hello
hello all...
hey pen and TO
Hello Owl & Pen
and done - lots to try and get done today so better get going. Bye all
hello lyn!
well done. See you!
congrats and bye, lynx...
bye lyn!
well I've found 12 words since I came back. but still need 47 ðŸ˜
64 here...
i need 78
still listless but starting to cave...
lots of adjectives today
hmm, listless here too but more the real def. 😜
???
you know, languid, spiritless, indifferent
ah
i am tired of typing in words that go missing...
phantom pestilence
reptilian
yep, that too
resistance
72. the first 250 were fairly easy
yeah, I don't know if my missing 47 are just weird words I don't know or if I just can't see any more because the grid is so big.
i think i lost words from this morning.....too many are sounding familiar...
I'm sure if I went to the list I would see a bunch I already entered.
I just made up one that doesn't have a def, so that's nice.
weird how that's fun... ;o)
I'm going to just pretend is is a scottish word
isn't there some sort of link between both? it seems as if words disappear in both, but i have neigher time nor patience to test it
wht did you make up?
wa6/30
hmmm
very similar to wa6/33, which is an alt sp of the plural dry african ditch
but 3rd letter is changed
i've seen your word before
i have one tile that is maddening.
so you're telling me I didn't make it up
I have several maddening tiles.
perhaps i am confused. let me get back into the gird
gird your loins
i have a new pc and have sworn not to east or drink in its vicinity. rather than keeping me from snacking, it keeps me from playong...
I started out that way with mine but it didn't last long
just had to spray the keyboard today with that compressed air.
i used one of those sample mascasa burshed on mine
hmm, good idea
ah, just found the swordsl
except i dislodged a couple of keys
there is NO WAY to get them back on those little bumps
what are those? not sure I've found any, though I've tried catara which is not even a word but in my mind it's a sword
the old one was 6 and grungy
perhaps you are thinking of catena
maybe
64 to go.
my words per tile in the 2nd row is 6!
closer to list time
so what are the stats of the swords?
which?
you said at 5:41 "just found the swords!"
ra 6/7 are swords...
ra6/21/7/32
aha, didn't have those, thx
and don't forget the spear and its rlated medical instrument
well, spear is actually in the grid 😜
which is la5
well don't forget la6/7 that diabetics use
time to play, i finished the chocolate bar. it was yummy
beware the adjectival forms
well now I want chocolate
it was Hberts, milk chocolate sea salt caramel
AND it was on sale
don't know that brand, but I love me some sea salt caramel with chocolate
heberts
still don't know it
heberts of shrewsbury MA. i was there once long ago
oooh the candy mansion! i have never forgotten my childhood visit there
did you see lots of ca7 or is the mansion made of it?
the mansion is made of stone, and you see lots of ca7 inside, and that was the first time i had white chocolate, too, i think!
wonder what my last C is
well mine was pathetic... it was a baby cow
I found that one late in my c finding
but maybe yours is the ce6 that is like a brand of mints but with an extra vowel stuck in it
i think that was my last C as well... ;o)
of course, the word that looks like a plural
thx
a ce6/21s
enable loves some archaic words
certainly
Yes. That one.
(I was too slow!!!!)
gotta go. later and good luck
i hate those words that look pl but have no singular in the grid...
or stuff like nene that seemingly have no plurals....
well the plural of deer is deer so maybe it's the same with nene
not per the dictionary I've looked in (cuz I probably checked a few dozen times), but I'm sure some of the others are exactly like that.
the dictionary indicates it would be nenes?
yup
interesting
and I realize that repeatedly checking makes me a silly goose
"With protection under the Endangered Species Act, along with captive breeding and rigorous habitat restoration, the number of nene rose to more than 3,000 in 2019."
Go nene!
Which dictionary did you check, justafreep?
when I was watching Secrets of the Zoo: NC Zoo, they were not pluralizing something that I thought would be. I think it was giraffe.
Huh. I fully accept there's a ton of words I just don't know well enough to know for sure. But I woulda gone with giraffes.
I know, that's why I thought it was odd. but the vet said it and then one of the zookeepers said it.
is the LA 8/50 an ordinary word?
no
it starts like the normal pair preceding it but then it ends in ***dly winks
ty....was all around that....
what if we don't know what the pair preceding it is?
to cut
in an accident people get bruises and la......
i had that pair...
ah, didn't have those, thanks
I guess that was the lizard bea was bragging about finding earlier 😜
i am down to 3 words that i can't find....
39 here
3-13-8-11-3-1
RTT...5=5=7
there is a certain ta5 which looks plural but actually isn't and can plural into a 7
maybe one or both of those
or inventor Nikola perhaps
that is the only t7 so if it's not that, then you need an R7
i am missing te 5...ti 5 ... and re 7
ok so inventor Nikola then?
ah, Nikola was the te 5...
ty...i usually find that word...
and a ti5 basin, in geography
duh, yes.....that was my ti 5...ty...
re7: think of an re9 word for sorry and remove "en"
ty, that was it....i am done...
there are many but that's my guess
ah yay i am a winner at GWPIM
yup!
wow, I didn't have the te5 either. I usually get taht
that
well i am heading out...goodnight all....thanks for the help....
good night, pen
well, she is long gone I guess
another fun grid
hi all. 73 to go here.
btw, don't bother appending urine to felines, rodents, or moisture. doesn't work in enable...
urine in good company there harry
