Good morning.
hi scrabs!
I slept most of the last 18 hours due to a migraine. I have emerged all better.
I had a terrible migraine yesterday, too, and slept most of the day. glad you are better!
Most of my migraines are weather-triggered, and most are mild-moderate. This one was a whopper and I am glad I was not working.
Don't you hate losing days to migraines?
yes, I do. and this one was the worst I've had all year, and I was so nauseated too
Yes.
most of mine come from my neck, especially if I sleep with my head tipped back
In the last several years my origin changed from the left forehead to the left occiput--base of skull.
I have had migraines for 40 years now.
about 30 years for me
I've been on aimovig - once monthly injection - for a couple years now, so migraine frequency is greatly reduced
I get about 2-4 migraines per month and have pondered this med.
6-7 years ago I had chronic (daily) migraines and took topiramate for a year or so.
Any side effects from the injections?
I tried topamax for a while but it made me so antsy and crazy
I was ok and it broke the cycle for me.
none, really, other than very vivid dreams for a couple weeks when I started it
if you do try it, most people find injecting into the belly is less painful than leg or arm. doesn't hurt at all.
Is the injection done in a neurologist's office?
Oh, you do it?
no, it's an auto-injector you can do yourself
my daughter also uses it, she found back of arm to be less painful, so I do those for her
I will do more reading. I heard of the med but wasn't sure if I needed to go that route.
most insurance requires you to have tried something like 3 other preventatives first
Magnesium, vitamin B2
and the aimovig web site has info on a card that will help reduce your cost, too
Have you had any concussions?
mild one, yes
I have had 2, most recent was 7 years ago, that was a bad one.
Thanks for the info, aslindy.
you are welcome
I am getting close to halfway.
I have 80 left
Go go.
can't believe soonish is not a word
Should I try it?
You're right, it's not a word.
it's a word to me, but I guess that doesn't count
I am stuck with 88 left. Maybe I will return tonight. Enjoy the day. aslindy, may our brains behave.
you have a good day too!
Bye
Tiny hint, please, for the HE7, anyone?

sad that enable doesn't recognize our regional slang for an old beat up car: hooptie
do you watch hoovie's garage on youtube? that's the only reason I know hooptie.
never have - I'll check it out
I think he's in KS. He's probably in his 30s and buys a ton of cars and then fixes them up, but like BMWs and stuff.
good morning everyone :)

Nan said earlier it was stupid, so I haven't looked yet
If you start with un + not daughter you might get the rest.
Nan thinks most words are stupid. =)
well she was right about this one... ;o)
Only a scot could make sense of that random collection of letters.....
Yes, she was. LOL!
not in the dictionary...
Means unlucky

one can make some hilariously funny made-up words with today's Spelling Bee letters
like FOPPEGIT
haven't checked it out yet...
Where does one find this Spelling Bee?
the New York Times' games web page
https://www.nytimes.com/puzzles/spelli\nng-bee
Thank you.
ugh i always forget that it puts in that \n
can someone please give me STATS for the lone I in the fourth column?....
I think it is the iS 8/40
ty, zooz...

oh...ty....had the sing and not the pl....
in 7/28, pls

Thanks, Sophie
need a break....bbl to finish...bye all...
I'm taking a break, too.....BTW I'm Trudy, my dog in the picture is my rescue, Sophie....she's on the couch snoozing, feet straight up in the air.....but we both need to go for a walk....BBL 62 left!!!!
icrystalline substance, eh?
aha, got it!
1-1-6-1
Proper noun Russian
ok, tell me that code, please....what does 1 1 6 1 mean?
She has 9 words left a 4 , a 5, 6 6's and a 7
aaaaah thanks
I have no idea how 1-1-6-1 translates into that. There is ho 4, 5 or 7 in it
well, nothing can be smaller than a 4 letter word....and apparently, she has all the ones bigger than 7 letters
And is there something wrong with posting " 9 words left a 4 , a 5, 6 6's and a 7"
You know everyone has their own way of playing the game.
Hurshy, since when do you play babble?
Can you remember Wednesday, May 26, 2010?
in 7/28, pls
I'm going to hang out to see the answer to this.
in7 in + vowel + location
ty Bea, fw
wi7 pls. hi all
peri, the one worth 48?
the alcohol + clean up wetness
run your bread through the gravy
yes, Bea's clue is good
periwinkle do you by any chance remember Wednesday, May 26, 2010
hoot
whoops i didnt mean to type that into the chat lmao
what's with May 26th 2010
is that a clue to what happened on that day :)
nm
I'm wondering the same, ru.
ty Bea
i wasnt sure how a word was called and i googled Antohomonym and the only result was one of these puzzles form Wednesday, May 26, 2010, and only one user typed it, so i went to todays puzzle and i searched if anyone on the leaderboard from then was still active
And was there anyone?
yes, periwinkle, also hurshy
bichon as well
I was playing back then.. but I sure don't remember that word
although I'm not sure what the Leaderboard is
yeah youre also on the leaderboard, it wasnt a word in the grid itself but one person used it in chat apperantly
Final scores maybe, not leaderboard
well.. there are some pretty brainy people here Chryst
i just thought it was super interesting that i was able to find people from 10 years ago still active on a community ive never heard of just because i misspelled a word
literally the only mention of the misspelling of the word antihomonym
well.. I don't know how "active" we are.. but we're still kicking around :D
Chryst.....I'm relatively new here (just a few months) retired teacher, but I never correct anyone's spelling....we all make typos.... no biggy
There are people still playing that have been around longer than 10 years
indeed, but again, super interesting that google was only able to find this one mention
19 left, need to let doggos out to play again before it gets dark..... not a fan of the time change, OR the cold weather
MollyL well hursh apparently joined 2005
We call her Molly for short
Speak for yourself, ru.
I'm not kicking anything.
LOL BEA
i wasnt expecting to find a fun game today
Welcome Chryst41!!
Ru, how is Buddy?
thank you
he's pooped out today.. we went for a 6 mile walk today.. he's asleep under my desk
Has he settled in well?
oh yeah.. he is bonded to me now and knows this is his new home
he's a dream dog.. so easy, so happy, so gentle and calm
I'm sure it didn't take long.
the bonding is something new.. but I"m hyper-sensitive to behavioral stuff so I've recently noticed a big change
Is that Buddy in the picture?
no.. that was my last dog, Dylan
Buddy is a 4 year old Chocolate Labrador Retriever
We transported an owner surrunder a couple weeks ago. She was so confused. I felt badly for her.
i know.. he was out of sorts for a long while too.. but he figured it out and he's safe here
omy, I love labs..... we had a chocolate, then a yellow, both passed,,,, then less than 2 yrs before my husband died, we got a black male....BEST dog ever....he became mine after the passing of my husband....I still miss him.... my rescue, Sophie, has been mistreated and it's taken her a long time to trust me... but she's doing much better
hahaha
Is she a Jack Russel?
re-reading that it sounds like I miss Shadow more than my husband.....actually it was harder with Shadow, very sudden
they think part Jack R but bigger, maybe part boxer...I'm not going to pay to get her DNA, doesn't really matter
That's all we have, boxers.
they are a sweet breed, too
looks like MLFAN and ruru were in the chat that day. and Harry played but I didn't see any chats by him. might've been during my hiatus.
I was playing then too but probably not that day.
which harry, harryhood?
may 26th 2010 was the first day in Babble I started cracking corny jokes and puns
seems like just yesterday ru
ha
:D I know.. I took the game much more seriously in 2010
I'm concerned about mlf's absense.
me too a bit
I hope she wasn't captured by ISIS terrorists or anything
ok...is it me..or did it say in your profile when you started playing bable?....cos I can't see it now.
it's in green at the top right of your profile
says here august 19 2005 for you
it does in the right hand corner for every player rolin
I was thinking she might have been ufoed.
aaahhhh...profile not account...ty ru
Hello Rolin
The Taliban could have arrested her and she's living in a yurt and herding goats
noot
One of the podcasts I listen to uses the term ufoed.
noot to you too gemini
wait, if a letter has 0/0 in the tile stats, does that mean that no word with that letter exists or what, im dummy dum dum
hate when that happens!!!!
where is mlf? mongolia?
0/0 means that no word can originate from that tile
ahh ok
Carla, did you ever figure out where mlf lived?
0-0 was a cranky old asshole who played here a long time and berated players :D
he being of superior intellect and all
Granddaughter just called. She tested +
ooooh no
we need a scrapbook - this is your life, playbabble. 'well I remember the first day lola and ang snogged in the corner.'
that sort of thing.
I heard about ang the other day.
oh no, bea.
well lola and ang have nothing on French Toast and Italian Greyhound who got very steamy
She will be fine, ru. Sh had her first dose of the vaccine and she is only 8.
Is that French is not here?
still a bit scary.
so steamy in fact we had a ton of dim sum in the PB
She is most upset because she will not beable to use her Jag bucks at school on Monday. =)
i like babble scandal. the happy kind.
Guess I will go see what grub I can rustle up for dinner. I got a beautiful pointy head cabbage today.
it's mostly faux scandal, but still.
It is fun, isn't it, mab?
yeah someone fauxed up
even the battles are fascinating, if it's not your battle.
8 left.....time out for lunch/supper Lupper? Sunch??
Apparently too steamy since French Toast has disappeared
I was wondering, Molly...
I hope it's not because of her mom.
Bea you are such a worrier
I am! It is in my DNA!
And you're not even Irish or Jewish : D
I'm sure that I once lived as a Jewish woman.
I'm not sure that my great great grandparents were not non practicing Jews.
I'll see you all tomorrow.
bye bea
rehi, missed bea's question, but no, I could never figure out where MLFAN lived exactly
so, this is what I have left - i O TT SS O H SSS T WWW U RRR
I know ruru said it was easy, but I don't know
found 2!
the u8 is not the so6.
well that is my missing U, thanks. hopefully I have the so6 it isn't
I did! thanks.
It is a good thing that you had the so6. I have no idea what that word means, except that it is the name of a restuarnt in Boston's Back Bay.
I only know it from here and know that it's scottish and can also end in y.
i think i've seen it used by LM Montgomery, maybe
is that an author?
yes, Anne of Green Gables
ah, hold on to your hat, I don't think I ever read that
oi this is hard
it gets easier the more you play!
also, if you look at the bottom under "friends of babble" and click on lickety's babble clues, that will give you a list what you need (and alphabetically), which helps a lot.
And you can cut and paste the words from your word list into Lickety's Clues so it is easy to see what you have missed.
yes, sorry I left that off.
Chryst4l, if you play a while you will find yourself learning an amazing number of obscure words that will never come up in conversation.
I'm really stuck with 15 left, so I guess I will open the list.
Do you need any clues Hokie?
well, I'm kinda struggling with the list, so I guess I do.
last ru6 and last tu6?
ru6 ends in a trig function
well that's new, thx
tu6 is an oriental moth that produces brownish silk.
hmm, will just look that one up
From the ending, you would think it was spoken with a Boston accent.
I hope that this is sufficient confusion for you. I need to go put together my dinner.
Good night all.
good night, and thanks!
count for the single i in the fourth column, please?
sorry
I believe that is IS8, which is a plural from a 7 coming from another i.
I have all of the Is but don
oy. thank you
don't remember where they came from
guess I shall have to slog through all the i's - babble has made it my least favorite letter!
can give you a clue, trif, if you want
yes please - so stuck
is it something science-y?
sophie, do you know how to tell where they come from? sometimes it's hard to tell but there is a method to the madness
to paraphrase ruru - OJ's favorite murdering gloves (but minus a letter)
ooooh great clue! Thank you
nbt at long last! 83 words in, how embarrassing
OJ's favorite murdering gloves?
i don't get it....
it's a brand of leather gloves
all i can think is too small or in6.
if it doesn't fit you must acquit
ah. don't know wha brand they were. oh well.
they're the only brand of leather gloves I can think of. LOL. been around for many years.
they also make slippers
i live in Texas. we don't need gloves here. lol
good point
how's your physics?
Good morning all
hey liz!
i liked the kind of physics where they let you just entirely ignore the existence of friction/air resistance.
Have to admit, I just used morewords for that is 7/8. I had no idea about the gloves
I never took physics
i had to google it, liz
would a physics definition have helped, liz?
clues or stats for the middle o?
But I guess it's a clever clue, now I know the reference.
Possibly os 6/18
i'm not enjoying this grid....
also, why no joie?
os5/10 is one for sure
it started off well but it's tough now.
2 os5/10 from that one
and the 3rd is like liz said, os6
And definitely that os6/18
As Carla said :)
Wow! Using Lickety - lots of words I entered yesterday have disappeared. I know that happens sometimes, but it hasn't for a while for me.
ugh
Yup!
Why is it that I remembered that French si5 a few days ago but needed Lickety to remind me today? Memory is weird.
yep, happens to me a lot
Fireworks :) Have a good day / evening everyone. Off to make some sourdough bread.
yum, good night!
or have a good day

hello...
hi Pen, hi all
hi mich...
I didn't start last night after the flip, so there's a treasure trove today!
ah, yes....i was here earlier this afternoon....
pen...what do you think of the bee today? I only have 38 pts (nice) and no pangram. don't see any words!
i have 54 pts. and no panagram....but it's tough...i stopped at Amazing...
it wasn't much fun today...
this is definitely the hardest one for me so far
yeah, not fun
apparently the pangram is archaic. I didn't think he used words like that.
he isn't supposed to.....according to his own rules...
exactly
did you see he's only like 25?
i think fopette should be a word... ;o)
no...i think they should use a standard dictionary....he accepts some slang and then not others....
I tried foppet
i thought a french ending was cuter... ;o)
yeah, some plants but not others, some animals but not others. he's almost as inconsistent as enable.
it is, but you know I never see the french ending
yes, but i do, lol....
when i am tired or find the bee not very fun, i try to get to Amazing, but sometimes I don't even get there...
I tried Spelling Bee for the first time this afternoon after hursh gave the link. I found only 3 words, but the third was the pangram, after which it said "Great Job" and kicked me out. Is that normal? Do you have to wait and make sure to enter the pangram last?
you have to subscribe to continue playing...
Ah, makes sense. Well, I have enough ways to waste time already. lol
yeah, they let you find a certain number of points for free, so if you had found a bunch of small words first you could've played longer.
but you're just too good for that, vicuna! 😜
Haha, but the irony is that I was struggling to find even 2 4-letter words before I saw the long one.
yeah, today is really the worst
I will say first word I saw was pfft and I wasn't sure it would take
ah...didn't try that one...
I never see words like that in Babble. They stump me every time.
guess I will just settle for Nice today
there are lots of P words today...
in the Bee, that is...
And that's fireworks for me here, so Farewell!
congrats...
well done
all but 5 of my Bee words are P words...
I have 10 P's and 3 others
i have one vowel word...
i have 12 Ps...and 4 Ts....
just found a T. I have 10 Ps, 3 T's and a G
ah...i don't have a G...
my vowel word is an E...
got an E!
a four?
yep
and another P, now I'm Great
Great... ;o)
well i am stuck with three left... :o(
here? I went to the list with 15 and then had to look up like 6.
yes, here....
at the Bee i would need 15 more points to get to Amazing.....probably need the pangram...
found the pangram!>....i am a Genius... LOL>...
I need 5 pts for Amazing
i was at Amazing and need the 15 to get to Genius....
well that was fast. genius!
do you want a clue for the pangram?....
nah, but thanks
I'll just read it tomorrow
i just guessed....it was vaguely familiar but i couldn't recall the meaning...
oh, I am getting some computer glasses! wish I had them right now.
nice...i am sure it will help you...
yes
can you clue the in 7?
also getting some progressive sunglasses so I can read my watch and phone outside
cool....
in7 ends it a word for location, like a dig __
one of the ones I looked up
fount it...ty...new one for me...
how about the second OT 6?
nm....pulled a peri.. ;o)
looked that one up too. we've had it but I didn't remember.
i remember it because OT 6 media is a middle ear infection....remembered that from doing evaluations...
how about the ast TU 6?
oh, that one I got, it was the first OT6 I had to look up
yes, but i don't have it...LOL...
tu - ends like maybe a bostonian might say
a silkworm from india
ty...i am done...
good job
I'm doing tomorrow's crossword already
ty...but i did list for the last 44....was tired....
i did today's but i will save the Sunday one for tomorrow...
i played two hours of tennis this morning in a charity tournament for hunger relief....
nice. we got our mt. biking friends to play pickleball with us today. I think they're hooked.
cool....your hubbie plays, too?
the pickleballers are playing in their section of the hunger drive tomorrow...
yes, he's hooked too
it's nice to be able to play together...
yeah, we normally have to play each other in singles but week before this past one we played doubles every day in Hilton Head.
we played some doubles tennis together a few years back but he never really got into it
i can see where pickleball would be easier to hop right in to play...
well i am heading out....goodnight, carla....*waving to the lurkers*.....
goodnight
bye!
good night, and yeah, very easy for anyone to pick up
Ill go as well now, getting way to late in germany already
Back now. 5 to go.
ALL S words
Fireworks!!!!
Good night all. God Bless!
