8:34 am

good morning everyone, happy day

8:38 am

Morning, all!

8:39 am

This one has a bit of a bite.

8:45 am

Clue for ve6 please? My last word.....

8:47 am

it's a sin, une

8:47 am

excusablein

8:48 am

Really, it isn't a sin, see the definition

8:49 am

I think our resident ghost is being mischieveous today.

8:49 am

as a recovered catholic, it is a sin, just not one that will damn you to hell :)

8:53 am

I love the phrase 'recovered catholic' . :-) And you are correct, Mael. Two types of sin, the ve and the mortal (or mortlers as they are known around here).

8:55 am

As a retired Catholic, the word ve6 is an adjective that means excusable (as Bea said) or forgivable, that goes before the word sin. Just as mortal is an adjective that goes before sin.

8:55 am

Tx! Fw!!

8:59 am

Molly, I bow to your expertise on all things sin related. :-P

9:05 am

those are the sins you have to worry about making up as a kid so you can say something at confession lol

11:30 am

tu 6/30 rhymes with what men like women to have

11:30 am

any of the ou words, pls

11:30 am

or what is not a fastball or a slider...

11:31 am

bichon....went faster, yelled louder....two OU words...

11:31 am

second one is present tense...

11:31 am

lol, i was trying to think what do men like women to have <-- such a philosophical conundrum

11:32 am

tu6/30 rhymes with what is on a winding road

11:33 am

three totally different clues.... ;o)

11:33 am

Nothing philosophical about it, but there is no tu word that rhymes with big tits

11:35 am

Oh, my goodness. Once again, I logged on just in time. :)

11:36 am

Molly, are we sure it's not a big booty?

11:36 am

tuersonality

11:37 am

bhahahaha Carla!!!

11:38 am

lol - wondered what kind of reactions I would get to that one :D

11:40 am

*!*~*!* hagd everyone -- have to make a costco run today - not looking forward to it.

11:40 am

congrats...

11:40 am

WalMart wasn't bad at all.

11:41 am

I need to go to Costco.

11:42 am

HA!!!!! Just got it, Nan!!!

11:42 am

just looked up the tu6 def. that's funny.

11:42 am

like beeves

11:43 am

I had to look it up, too. Couldn't get a TU word to rhyme with MONEY!

11:43 am

haha

11:43 am

I had to use molly's winding road clue

11:44 am

Queen Bee for Mr. B

11:44 am

nice! I think I'm about one word away from genius but stuck

11:44 am

congrats to Mr. B....haven't looked today...

11:45 am

I need 6 more for queen bee. definitely a long shot.

11:45 am

ooh, just got genius

11:46 am

oes

11:46 am

noes

11:46 am

where's aloy? she gets a tiara today.

11:50 am

finally made it to 3 or less on remaining tiles

11:52 am

nice...i have 30 left to find...

11:53 am

there we go...just monkeyed a weird set and looked at def - archaic scot

11:53 am

almost half are fours...guess I should work on those...

11:53 am

9 left here - 3-5-1

11:53 am

there are some hard 4's. I have been looking since I had 8 left and still have 3.

11:55 am

11 missing here...

11:58 am

I have F R TTT V L SS

11:59 am

hmm, caca not accepted by Sam at the Bee

12:00 pm

i am not surprised...

12:01 pm

well i have the Fs but I am missing some of your other missing words...

12:04 pm

5 left..... all across the bottom row....I tend to go ABC, not word length, so ready to tackle the I words I've been avoiding

12:05 pm

well the F's I have are a set. can I have the stat for the other?

12:06 pm

fe 5

12:08 pm

was anyone else's arm really sore the day after the first shot? i'm starting to get anxious, or maybe my heart is just racing as a side effect

12:08 pm

no, but booster was

12:08 pm

my arm was sore for a few days after my booster....

12:09 pm

Mildly sore. Some folks have gotten high fevers

12:10 pm

my arm was red around the shot area for several days after the booster, too....

12:10 pm

soreness is a common reaction to the vaccine...

12:11 pm

the harder it hits you the more you know it's working

12:11 pm

True that

12:12 pm

good point....i have a friend who was running a fever and had soreness for a few days after her first shot....symptoms went away for the most part after a few days...

12:12 pm

that's what I kept telling myself....I never hardly run a fever.....for any reason, but did with booster

12:12 pm

3rd one for me was killer

12:12 pm

but arm was incredibly sore after all 3

12:12 pm

Carla, did you get the F word ?

12:13 pm

haven't looked yet. making a panini too. will look now.

12:13 pm

duh, thanks

12:14 pm

hello all!

12:14 pm

hey wendrie, long time no see

12:14 pm

I've been picking these off during calls all day - but am stuck on my last word. 1/5

12:15 pm

Carla - I've been in and out while working... looking forward to some down time when I can work through

12:15 pm

the word starts from the I in the middle of the bottom row

12:15 pm

hi, welcome Wendrie, today's discussion include sore arms after vacs and what men want from women,,,,,, apparently, not money

12:15 pm

is that i5? it's a weird one

12:15 pm

is Dr. Gosh still in charge around here?

12:16 pm

dunno, I'm stuck on both I words

12:16 pm

Hi Sophie, I had sore arms after both main vacs and the booster.

12:16 pm

Carla - yep i/5

12:16 pm

right i is in4/4

12:17 pm

do you want a clue?

12:17 pm

got that one just now

12:17 pm

yes please, kept hoping it would 'appear'

12:17 pm

justin, yes but pretty hands off

12:17 pm

in + math term where a number can be different things

12:17 pm

it's Dr. God...

12:18 pm

or I guess a factor changing depending on other influences

12:18 pm

and just the first syllable of that word obvi

12:18 pm

i think Justin knows that, pen, and has perhaps a religious sensitivity such that he wishes to avoid blasphemy :)

12:19 pm

perhaps....but i have no way of knowing that...

12:20 pm

i think it's a reasonable inference

12:21 pm

weird word - wouldn't have got that without the hint. Thank you!

12:21 pm

Now, dinner and my next meeting...

12:21 pm

glad you got it, huzzah

12:22 pm

wow, just now realized one of my missing 4s is the singular of that tu6

12:23 pm

hahaha what a funny plural

12:24 pm

like I said earlier, reminiscent of the even funnier plural - beeves

12:27 pm

i thought beef was its own plural, like deer

12:28 pm

nope, we've had it here before and discussed it and not long after I saw it used in an old western

12:28 pm

but also deers is accepted

12:29 pm

I always say deers to make my mom mad.

12:30 pm

taking a break...bbl to find my last 17....bye all....

12:30 pm

Carla, thanks for the math clue, but my eyes are crossing on that I word, and I need to take a short break....I WILL not quit, it's my last word....thanks for the help, but my brain cells need to rest

12:31 pm

hmm, would it help to know it's a brand of iron alloy?

12:31 pm

bye pen and sophie. I am going to get to work here too. BBL for last 7.

12:36 pm

Beef the meat may be its own plural, but beef the complaint may not. If you and three other people in your apartment building had complaints, you would take your beefs to the landlord.

12:36 pm

Carla, just kept playing around on the keyboard, and finally got it. Sorry. Iron clue didn't help either. But thanks so much for trying. I just had a mental block on that one!!!

12:45 pm

Oh great, now Dr. God is getting canceled by cancel culture.

12:51 pm

Sorry?

1:06 pm

who is Dr. God?

1:06 pm

maybe i don't get the reference

1:16 pm

Dr God is the Master of the Babble

1:17 pm

He created this site, I believe

1:18 pm

I am in desperate need of help with the in6. I have been all around and upside down. I know it is a perfectly obvious word but I CANNOT find it. HELP!

1:18 pm

SORRY that should be ar6 Sheesh!

1:20 pm

Sounds like a word that sometimes follows "knight", but starts with a different vowel.

1:20 pm

And yes, of course , it was perfectly obvious *sigh*

3:31 pm

inshiningarmour isn't there, Gillie. nuts

3:36 pm

Ha, bugsy!

3:36 pm

hello friend. Just arrived

3:37 pm

Hi. I've been away purging clothing.

3:37 pm

good for you. Purging can be liberating

3:38 pm

I need to make room for some new clothing. I feel like I'm walking around in tattered rags :D

3:40 pm

7:01 pm

7:02 pm

yw...

7:12 pm

well I am done....used Best Word List for the last 11 words....

woot! I am painting a bookcase or I could have helped.

7:13 pm

oh IG offered to help but I figured I would just find as many as I could...

7:13 pm

irritating that i missed a couple fours I should have found and a few pls....

I actually made it to 1 but then had to look it up

I can never actually finish 😭

7:16 pm

i bet i know the word you looked up....i monkeyed it when you posted the la 5....

yeah, and I could have sworn I tried that

if it ain't scottish, it's extra brit letters

btw, I listened to an interesting podcast today about english. it is episode 460 from the podcast 99% Invisible. "Corpse, Corps, Horse, and Worse"

7:19 pm

yup...

7:20 pm

interesting...never heard of the podcast, but I don't listen much to podcasts....mainly have listed to Criminal and local theater "radio" productions...

one thing the linguist they talked to said was that webster took out all the useless silent letters but the brits were like, no, that's the American way, we've got to be different.

I will post again tomorrow for the morning word nerds

7:22 pm

interesting....i have a Russian friend who tutors students in English and she often sends me questions about something her students were assigned...

it is interesting how it evolves. she was talking about vowel sounds changing. for instance how the word roof is pronounced two different ways, even by the same person. I know I say it both ways.

7:25 pm

yes, i had a roommate in grad school that was a speech therapy major....association with her made me much more observant of pronunciation differences....and regional dialects...

7:26 pm

should have said "who" was... ;o)

yeah, one of my friends is a speech pathologist who works with people in the hospital. it's funny, she is from arkansas and says a lot of things like I do from appalachia. but one time she said warsh, which mr. hokie who grew up in memphis also says, and she got all angry when we pointed it out.

7:29 pm

warsh is often heard in Ohio and states near there...

7:30 pm

Warsh is historically the norm in central and southern Maryland.

7:30 pm

warshinton, DC i heard a lot as a child

one time our youngest kid was like 3 or 4 and mr. hokie said warsh and he started dying laughing

7:31 pm

i think you could draw a circle around that area of the country and find people saying it...

7:32 pm

clue for ve 6/27 please please please?

7:32 pm

a minor sin...

7:32 pm

oh i see it. thank you so much. babble blind.

7:33 pm

yw...

7:34 pm

carla....did you do the bee today?

queen bee!

7:39 pm

excellent!...i am three words shy, I think...

last one was an archaic one that I have no idea why he included it. I just was trying everything. not a word I know

7:39 pm

okay I'll ask. What is "queen bee" reference? :)

there are 22 total and 81 pts

allyall, the spelling bee is a game on NYT and queen bee is finding all the words.

7:40 pm

i have 19 words...

7:40 pm

ah, thank you. :)

we just chat about it here since there isn't really another place

7:41 pm

:) I just couldn't figure it out from the chat. :)

7:42 pm

sorry about that....but as carla said, the Bee doesn't have a chat feature...

7:44 pm

no apology needed. :) was thinking it was some sort of secret status in the game LOL

7:44 pm

LOL...

it is a secret level of that game. genius is the highest "publicized" level

maybe pen and I should just email about it 😁

7:45 pm

:oD

7:46 pm

we are not the only ones who mention it...i first heard about Queen Bee from Bichon who mentioned that Mr. B had reached it a few times...

yeah, she said earlier today that he'd gotten queen bee today

7:47 pm

yes....he is good....he was once on a game show with trivia as a focus...

oh really?

7:50 pm

yes...can't remember what it was called...

7:51 pm

are there any E or K words in the bee today?

no

7:56 pm

There it is, Bee talk

7:56 pm

well i am missing two words...

7:57 pm

there's Bee talk and there's Bea talk... ;o)

7:57 pm

down to one.. ;o)

woot! do you need 5 pts?

8:00 pm

yes, lol....

it's that darn archaic word that was my last

LMK if you want the starting letter

8:03 pm

found it....it was the lily....

ah, mine was the A5

8:07 pm

well i am glad it's done... ;o)

8:07 pm

heading out....the crossword awaits.. ;o)

8:07 pm

goodnight all...

the crossword might take you 5 min. good night!

8:09 pm

*waving*....
