I am amused by the fact that be4/5, pu4 and so5 are all in the same grid today.
I should say be4 and 5 combo
B

Had to take the flashlight to check...yes, very lightly. Down by sea level I have 3". over the hills will be a foot
have you got snow as well?
i certainly didn't mean you should go check!! it's snowing lightly here, too. a little surprised, since it's so cold (-27)
ooohhh that is cold. only -13 (wind chill) here
wind chill here is about -40
I thought ba6/30 was going from tavern to tavern
hope you have a well-insulated house and a woodstove!
the backyard birds are coming to the feeders often - will have to top up today and put out more suet
it is going tavern to tavern (speaking for a friend)
A ca6 is an auto food server but not the same for ba6/30. At least according to the definition
Of course Saan, I would never think such a thing of you (clutches pearls) : D
!!!!
happy boxing day

Hello to my fellow babblers! How is everyone doing today
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers!Way to go
hi min... merry xmas to you
i want to go to Paris for culinary school so i can study at the Sorbun
Merry Christmas to you ruru!Hope Santa was good to you
he was this year.. I'm usually on the naughty list
good morning everyone :) Happy Boxing Day
We wouldn't want any visits from Krampus this year, ruru
Hi cybernan! How are you doing? Happy Boxing day to U!
no kidding these last two years have already been enough
just got my covid test results - negative :)
that's great nan
sure is
probably just picked up a cold at the dentist office
Had to take a rapid Covid test as soon as I walked in the door at my parents' house.I too was negative.Hooray Nan
got to go get ready for a walk in the rain.. have fun you guys
Don't rely on the rapid test if you are having symptoms, Min -- apparently they are producing a lot of false negatives.
bye ru - hagd
No symptons. It was just to put my mom's nerves at ease
Goodbye rururocks! I hope U have a nice walk in the rain
I just got a booster shot last Friday, but mom still wanted me to take a rapid Coid test after hearing about positive cases in my school last week. We are all vaccinated tho.
Is everyone wearing masks indoors at the school?
We wear masks in school.Plus governor has reinstated an indoor mask mandate. We seem to be going backward😒
we are too min - I think that is happening in most places. Our gymns and bars have been closed again.
Some school districts have shifted to full remote, but not my district. My school was full remote the last 2 days b-4 Christmas vacation, however, just my school not district
I think our health minister is really concerned that people won't pay any attention to the health orders and have their New Year's parties anyway. Our ICU's can't take another big wave of cases.
up 6/27, pls
hi all. clue for the N bottom row? ty
don't have it -- looking
I have a 6/24
na5/6 -ends with the land unit
ty
same here, dan
There will ALWAYS be people who won't pay attention to the health orders or mask/vaccine mandates. That's why the virus keeps mutating. There will be another variant.
na5/12 word is n plus a measurement of land mkg and hi
ty for na words. na 6 is plural
and hi min.
missing the o words for the fourth column o. stats and clues welcome;. ty
oops never mind just monkeyed.
ty
done for now. ty. off to swim.
I only have ob4
That ob 5/14 word means to be extremely fat mkg.

*and pl.
Excellent clue cybernan! Thank you for the up 6/27 clue.
good morning carla
I'm good, thanks. Glad you are well.
ty nan
hey nan, I must've missed you were getting tested. glad you are negative.
ty carla -- I started with sniffles, chills and sore throat 4 days after the root canal, so had to get checked out
I think I would rather have a root canal than Covid. How was your root canal cybernan?I hope that it was painless.
went ok -- wasn't much fun having to isolate on Christmas Eve and Day though
name that fabric - soft knit made from recycled cotton
name that city - Czech Republic
Sorry for isolation. Maybe you can have late celebration?
Prague
lol, I thought bichon's guess was for mine
Prague isn't in the grid, but you are close
no idea on the fabric
I don't expect anyone here to get it as I think everyone else does mainly quilting cotton.
3 phantom words for me today are ha4/6oon, uproar and usurp.
maybe someone who does a lot of clothes shopping will know it
yeah, uproar is a big one for me
the city is Praha -- Prague as spelled in the CP
interesting
I have also tried entering the word secret several times.
ONly reason I know that is because I brought home a souvenir fridge magnet of the clock tower with Praha on it
We've been to Praha thrice
I want discreet even though there's no D or i.
29 left but still need 11 + 3 + 2 S's. so stupid.
I just checked yesterday's grid size. only 58 words. Was it a tough one.I should have tried doing the grid yesterday.
I think I listed with 5 left but most if not all of those 5 I should have gotten.
I think last time I was here was sometime in September.
I have been busy with my full-time plus 2 part-time jobs.
haven't seen you for a while but didn't realize it was that long.
phantom spruce
I mean I have one full-time job and two part-time jobs.

Goodbye cybernan!I hope to see you here again later on.

Oh yes, I am just seeing that phantom spruce hokie carla

A up 6/27 is up plus consonant plus fish eggs periwinkle.

up6 ends with fish eggs as the last 3 letters
eesh, what a word
OK, that's ridiculous. Thanks, cig!
i'm having an awful time with S
there are over 15 su words - don't get yourself under saltwater worrying about them.
i'm missing three s's off the first column
Up6/27?
just clued below une
Found it!!
i received a bottle of wine for christmas. it is rose.
that's good.. you like roses right?
sadly, no rose drinker here except me.
I love roses.. i drank one for xmas yesterday
i do. was not allowed to share it at dinner, becuase it was a gift. would not pair with the meal, anyway.
was waiting for brother to opne the chocolate porter, but noooooooooooooo
Had a bit with lunch :-)
of rose? i swore to eat lightly today, but all the salad greens have been recalled. again. and it seems bagged stuff is all you can find
i will lunch at the local farm to table this week and try the porter on tap
I can't drink beer.. it gives me migraines
i had soup. and limpa.and COOKIES!!
what's limpa?
even german beer? it's preservative free, but you need to go to a german restaurant to get it on tap
Porter nice! I cook with porter also - it makes great roast beef or stew.
limpa is swedish rye. my loaf thamwed out ont the ride home so i have to eat it.
i like porter. and warsteinter oktoberfest. and will have a lager at dances. otherwise i prefer spirits/
I bake limpa and yule kage. limpa would go good with porter.
with chocolate porter?
my brother received a small smoker for christmas- the kind you see with absinthe. he made smoked manhattans
A generous friend smoked a salmon, and I will enjoy that today. I made eggnog yesterday and it is even better the 2nd day.
we were discussing that...would he cook the salmon first? The brothers in laws have large bbq smokers. the smoked thanksgiving turkeys were the best ever.
i'm having a nice neat scotch later tonight
the smokers instructions said he could smoke cheese. i truly hate smoked stuff unless it's bbq
ok i have retrieved the bottle, it's cottesbrook.
new zealand...wonder who recommended that one?
oh and of course they made glugg. not touching that. might as well just go buy some robitussin and hit it with gin
apologies to all the swedes
New Zealand wine is good and so is Australian. I've been to wineries in both places. We have a RV so we taste up and down the west coast of the USA and BC, Canada.
ru is not weighing in on nz rose
i would love to try limpa. have had it from three bakeries but one was vastly different. more like whole wheat texture. the others were dense and spicy with cardomom.
NZ Roses are very tart and light.. but nice.. they need to be paired with food, you can't just sip them outside like other roses
that's my opinion only by the way
the bottle suggest it as an aperitif. rose would be paired with the same foods as a dry whitea/
curious who selected this one since i've never seen rose at any family affair.
it would be a nice apertif with cheeses or it'd be great with fish or roasted chicken.. it can't handle anything heavier than that
but of course, i can always bring it to a party and share it. takes care of the not drinking a whole bottle thing
ah, as i suspected.
I love to have a couple glasses of rose with chicken and salads.. delish
trouble it, last time i did that it was the wine of last resort... but a few came up to me and said how tasty they found it.
no salads here. lest we die of listeria. :(
people love roses.. especially dry ones.. it's usually the first empty bottle on the table.
not here. lots of red drinkers/
wow.. really?
my current favorite rose is only $12.. I love it
mostly it seems people will say "i love merlot" when what they really like is that particular brand, especially non wine drinkers like me
yes, really. i think they view it as neither fish nor fowl. nor beef. pardon the allusion.
and a bit of a sissy.
amazing... merlot is really not sought after out here
we had a prime rib. so definitely not for christmas dinner.
ooh sorry, i meant the rose. merlot is popular here, as are most reds.
but i think they don't see a place for rose, if that makes any sense. and sorry, time to shut up and play. or not.
yeah.. i get it.. eventually the east coast will figure it out.. Roses are refreshing in hot humid weather and the big reds taste flat and dull
well put/
I'm against wine snobs in general anyway... it's elitist and fairly stupid
That goes for snobs in general.
i've already told you my wine snob story. i will drink what i like. i do not care.
except a smoked manhattan. did not like at all
how can you have pubes but not pube? That's daft
ru, if you come back, would you please share details on that rose you're drinking these days? i've always liked rose, but never know what to buy
can someone please offer clues or stats for the os in the 4th and 5th column? (for NBT/NBS). Thank you.
os 4/4
welki...
thank you! finally got em. gloomy day here - don't want to finish this too soon.
Is there someone who has just one pube? Is that possible?
good afternoon. Could someone please give stats for the bottom A thank you?
think land jane
still stuck on body hair thoughts here.....
we can get distracted easily some days

It was very nice to B with my family again this year since I wasn't able to be w/them last year. IT is very cold in VT
that's good to hear. was there snow?
They got nine inches of snow weekend before Christmas.
wow!
We also got a mixture of sleet & snow Christmas morning
it rained here, and the drive was horrible by the time i reached morristown. misty and foggy.
but it cleared up for the drive home last night. are yo stil in vt?
They closed one of the interstates here in VT because of the treacherous weather.Glad my driving day was Friday.
Yes, Im still here in VT. Going back to New York Thursday
wow, that WAS a good thing
I heard it was supposed to be 50 degrees in NY on X-mas.
