Harp, you may have stumped the band
it's an language translation fish. You put it in your ear and you can understand any language in the universe. Hitchhikers need them, along with a towel.
oh I know, but I can't think of a word that would follow it!
found a goose
another birdie
calling it a night - 80 for tomorrow :)
Goodnight, Nan.
po7 italian mush
thanks!
quite pleased with that haha in SA we call it puthu
yummy!
I think I overdid it with po7.32 pancakes years ago - can't stand it now in any form
FWs
Congrats!
yay Diz!
84 left for me, saving for tomorrow - happy hunting, babblers
Are you here, IG?
morning all! corners done
40 left, no more than 4 from any tile. back in a while
snazzy
What is snazzy?
hi hokie, bea
dan's rhyme
hey bea and welki
Morning, welki.
not wearing my glasses though so evrything is a bit of a blur
What have you been keeping yourself busy with, Carla?
just busy trying to not move my head in the position that gives me vertigo
phantom fanatic
ugh, vertigo. you've had it before, if i remember correctly. does the epley maneuver work for you?
yes, last Feb. and it worked. tried doing it myself at home Mon but it didn't work. made an appt with the PT who fixed me before but can't get in until the 7th.
my reg dr gave me these cawthorne exercises I am going to try in a little bit. those say to do in morning and at night everyday until it starts to get better. so I guess I'll do those until the 7th.
i've never heard of those (looking them up)
slept on the couch last night to keep me from flipping around.
I hadn't either
at least you don't need a spotter for those exercises, like you do with some of the other maneuvers (which likely would land me in an emergency department if i tried them)
yeah, mr. homie was in there timing me when I did the home epley. that was really bad and I felt sick all day after it.
i empathize with you. the episodes aren't just annoying, they're frightening
was walking winston yesterday and bent down to look at something on him and almost fell over. have postponed my trip to my mom's house and will not be doing any mt. biking or pickleball.
Is your vertigo caused by crystals, Carla?
thanks, they are indeed, though not as frightening this time. I feel like I can manage it better now. the first time I stayed in bed for hours not realizing it would pass in about a minute.
yes, that's what they said last time, bea.
the epley man. is supposed to move the crystal out of the inner ear canal.
Have had that maneuver a couple of times
it's amazing how horrible it is but then it works.
The first time I had vertigo, I was very nauseous.
I was nauseous pretty much all day yesterday and the day before
*Puts on Tommy Roe's "Dizzy"
I am prone to motion sickness
me too, bichon! my kids think I'm making it up when some motion makes me sick.
Carla, do you have a problem with heights?
The only thing that works is a patch. However, it gives me dry mouth
it's funny you ask, molly. I didn't think I did but then about 10 years ago I was doing one of those obstacle races, like warrior dash I think, and I would get to the top of the obstacles and freeze. took me forever to turn around and go down the other side.
Also, have you been tested for Meniere's disease?
I have used the patch when I had anesthesia, bichon. def. get the dry mouth.
My daughter does the Spartan races.
yeah, they tested for that in Feb and said I don't have it.
they were fun at the time, but now I'm too old and out of shape for those ðŸ˜
What is the difference between Meniere's and vertigo?
vertigo is one part of meniere's
but you can have the vertigo (BPPV) without having meniere's
Meniere's disease is a disorder of the inner ear that causes vertigo, tinninitus and can cause hearing loss
my husband has been saying for years I must be deaf and the audiologist said I have above avg hearing. I said, you mean for my age? and she said, no, across all ages, kids too.
What? You don't want to spell out Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo? 😜
hey, that is an acceptable and commonly used medical acronym! I didn't make it up.
Oh, you know Carla and her acronyms...
almost have "perennial"
yes, I tried perennia just in case
ME TOO
whoops hit the caps there
I only know the spelled-out version from my medical transcription days. And yes Bea, I know Carla is the acronym queen.
lol, I thought you were just emphasizing it
not finding as many PL words as i would have expected
You know how excited Hurshy gets about things like words.
did you have to spell it each time? or did you do it once and then put BPPV in parentheses after it and use that from then on?
I do know that
i do, but in this case it was just the challenges of eating and babbling and having Rilla suckle on me all at the same time
That depended on who I was transcribing for
It really gives me the eebie geebies when you say your cat is suckling on you
ok, rilla suckling on you is TMI
well really she's suckling on a hoodie string, she just sits on me to do it
Thank you Carla
Saying she is chewing on it paints a whole different picture
she doesn't chew on it though
and interesting, I would say heebie jeebies. and it sounds creepier after that story of the woman breastfeeding her cat on an airplane.
yes, although it turns out that woman was faking it to go viral
Okay, now I need to go get a do it yourself lobotomy kit
well, there was a fake video made after the fact
well anyway when you know in my case it's just a hoodie string it should be less creepy. and she's super cute.
she also generally drops the string after a bit and just suckles on nothing in midair
you're right, it should be 😜
winston is practically sitting in my lap but he is sleeping
nice
is it just me or are the P's and H's a pain and hard?
kind of. i need 4 more of each.
I need 8 p's and 6 h's
and have been through both twice
oh
it helps to know the old-school language for Mary's Magnificat - "he hath ho6 his servant..."
geez, I also need 8 s's
i haven't got to S yet
just found an H I thought 'twas merely a phantom
hmmm
you probably have it
ok
I was just using the wrong N in the middle because there are three n tiles
when will you le5 to just enter things regardless of whether you can actually see how they connect
good question
I do usually check before declaring a phantom in the chat though
ok, i have got to S and found all but 3
make that 2
nice, still need 6
Clue for re7/28 please?
looks like that is one of my 2 missing R!
Hmmmm
I only have 2 7's and that ain't one
It's my last 7......
do you know which R?
Have re7 glowed....
Don't we all know the 1662 version of a Catholic prayer? 😜
thanks
well, no. some of us were raised methodist.
??
Presbyterian
no, I don't happen to.
ruer
maybe you can do a more helpful clue for the non-catholics in the room. 😜
I was joking, hence the smilie face
i know it from the episcopal prayer book, not catholic, lol
(i think molly is referring back to my mention of ho6)
And I wasn't the one who mentioned it first
I knew you were joking
ah, so not a clue for re7/28
and I still need ho6 too
so which R has the re7/28?
I thought only Catholics believed the whole blessed virgin thing
every bible has the Magnificat
Catholics just venerate Mary to a greater extent than other denominations
I thought you were talking about some cat book
Magnificat = a latin word, nothing to do with cats. can see how me saying it could have caused that confusion tho.
Oh great, now we are back to the breast feeding cat
The angel of the Lord declared unto Mary and she conceived of the Holy Spirit . . .
I'm surprised you don't have a cat named that 😜
well, Opie is magnificent, so, i mean, i do sometimes employ it as a pun
ohh, my favorite food is in the grid today
hmm, haven't seen any foods yet
po7 is your favorite food?
yup
ooh cool i didn't have that
Man, with steak and prime rib and lobster out there and your favorite food is mush? Who are you? Oliver?
didn't have it. I like it prepared certain ways. I do not like grits which is basically the same.
we had it every sunday growing up, it's traditional with stew
we certainly didn't eat prime rib and lobster in northern italy :)
I just assumed it was wi6s :-)
in fact, my favorite is po7 with rabbit stew and mushrooms
hahaha dan, not that there's anything wrong with we7s
mr. homie's grandfather is from northern italy and when mr. homie did the dna thing it basically said no italian. so we don't know if the northern italians came from elsewhere.
Nope, I'm not going there. Nope.
and I meant to type wi6, lol
thanks, dan, that was my last w.
we're mostly tyrolean. I have very little actual "italian" blood in me
all four of my grandparents were born austrian
hmm, i'm having trouble with i words
even though we are ethnically italian
interesting
nvm :D pulled a pe4
I still need 1 i
Personally, I don't believe in the accuracy of the DNA things
mine's pretty accurate based on what we know
they tell you trends, not specifics. Mine's also accurate, as is my husband's
ok i have gone through the whole grid now, 18 to go!
and we still none of us have re7/28
aha, i know now that it is from the upper right R
the only surprise is I have like 1% of ghana or ivory coast. and that kinda fills in some blanks on a brick wall we hit researching.
also my real name is in the grid! what a day
I have re7/28
wow, your name and your favorite food
could you clue it, Molly?
I know! it's great
It ends in the last three letters of first, second and third in baseball. Hurshy's hated sport.
ohhh it's that enzyme from like the stomach lining
ah, thanks
Sorry, that was kind of a PB clue
ohh, thank you. I always see it as the thing for cheese
now I have been through grid 2x and still have 40 left.
<---not a word brainiac
think I will try those exercises and return later.
Thanks for the re7/28!
isn't that rennet mael?
the rennet is the stomach lining, the re7 is the enzyme involved in it
yeah, it's related
4 left of each for 4s 5s and 6s!
name that proper noun! Cosette's ill-fated mother
Fantine!
ding ding ding!!!
when the tigers come at night, with their voices soft as thunder
i cried so hard at that show
me too. i saw it in London and in San Francisco, and cried practically the entire show
i was 2nd row and could SEE the emotion, i was a wreck
*Passes tissues
wow great seats
i still get misty when i hear the soundtrack
what was this show?
Les Miz
oh
Love it, shirlockc!!
something about music + lyrics set me off, i'm a real softie
Les Miserables fanatics are the most fanatical. Worse that Cats fanatice.
Or fanatics
Saw Cats three times :-)
Les Miserables too :-)
Les Miz = 4 times on bdway in various cities, soooooo good
Yes!
i'm a cat person and I liked Cats, but les miz is my fav
and i have tix to Music Man which got postponed 2 years because ..
Wow, I don't have the dollars for one broadway ticket, let alone 4.
Not a cat person but loved the music
and i'm fingers crossed that the cast recovers (Hugh Jackman!!!! Sutton Foster!!!!) in time for my rescheduled end of Feb show THIS year
You have Tix to Music Man!!?? Soooo jealous!!
i was in the nosebleeds for a number of the shows
Fabulous leads!!
Seeing Lion King again in January :-)
good luck Une
bdwy is dicey these days
Seeing it here in Nashville
Saw it twice in NYC
puppetry is fantastic for LK
Mesmerizing
Jackman and Foster have COVID now. I seriously doubt they will still have it at the end of February.
that's my hope
not that i wish covid on anyone, but if they get it, better get it now (selfish that I am), recover, then i still see my show end of Feb, fingers crossed
My son who is vaccinated tested positive on December 20. He tested negative on December 28. So I don't think you have any worries.
*just in time to miss xmas*
they both have mild-ish symptoms so hopefully quick recovery
Oops, forgot the brackets around who is vaccinated
Exactly Ru, just in time to ruin Christmas for him. He still can't taste anything.
ick, that's what i worry about, the long-tail
love food too much to lose taste/smell
apparently there were spikes in negative reviews of Yankee Candle (saying that the candles didn't smell very strong) at the same time in the same places where there were COVID spikes
i would hate to lose my taste.. that would be the worst
My sister lost taste and smell from chemotherapy. Fortunately she got them back, but was months without.
I'd give up other senses before taste
like common sense :D
Hello everyone
hello cookie maker
:)
On a nice break this week!
me too
everyone is drinking egg nog and I'm out of champagne
Egg nog makes me gag
Anything with liquor and milk mixed makes me gag
i haven't had egg nog since i was a teenager
it was ok then.. especially with brandy
Same here. I drank egg nog (called artillery punch) at a friend's before midnight mass and sweat all through the service. Back when I was a rookie drinker.
I'd sweat out the confessionals not the mass :D
i'm stuck
good morning all :)
good morning nan
rehi
hot chocolate with a kick of kalua
*better than egg nog any day
hello again hokes
what are you stuck on ru, 5?

40 here
did we guess mael's real name? just noticed serena.
(bets on Anne)
Ru's evil twin sister ru5/12 is in the grid
or something very similar that is an accepted word so I shall not name it
ruena?
well, that was my last 2 R's from that R
ok, what is my last i, ruru?
in5/12
no, unless there are 2
oh.. then one of the in 6/18's
yes, just have one. looking now...
well that seems silly. but last column gray!
and unintentional pun 🤣
I have to actually work today sadly.. planned to take it off but have some deliveries to do.
good luck with the grid every one
sorry to hear that
toodle pips (to quote zooz)
ðŸ˜
Pips sure do get toodled a lot around here. Probably better than suckled.
amen
well toodle pips from me too. going to do some things. now only 37 left. ðŸ˜
re 7/28 please?
to rebuff your shoes so they look good
isn't that the re 7/32?
hey all
back after making fresh tagliatelle
oops, 7/28 is a medical term.
yum and what pasta dish are you making with it?
don't know many medical terms, cig
just fresh tomato sauce, easy lunch!
well, frozen fresh tomato sauce. I make it in batches
re7/28 starts with the enzyme you add to make cheese and ends sounding like the condiment us Europeans prefer over ketchup ;)
ty mael - good clue
*!*~*!* any clues wanted before I leave?
well done! I've too many left, it'll take me a while
:)
ok -- hagd everyone :)
Fw!!
Good morning
Congratulations, Une. And Happy Birthday!
Sorry I missed you Une. Happy Birthday.
hello all
Une Happy Birthday! Today is mine as well :)

i hope they are not from your head... 8-|
well, yeah, metaphorically speaking
that's ok then... ;o)
this is taking super long with the list, and at least 2 of these words I know 4 letters of and it's still taking long.

ty, ru and gwen....needed that one...
I don't recall ever seeing that before. thanks.
I will look up en5/10 so ru doesn't have to clue a 5 😜

congrats, gwen...
tanx, pen
an archaic past tense 🙄
ah...
now I need 6 pts for genius on the bee
i am 11 pts. short....i abandoned it this morning...
did you get the weird tree?
lol, no, and it's been it quite a few since I first learned it. also I saw it on a website earlier tonight too. now I can't remember how it's spelled. not baobob
change the last vowel....
yeah, I googled. that was enough for genius!
congrats!
thx
i am still 5 pts short...
made it with my last word!... :oD
woot woot
it was a word that you can add a vowel as a prefix...
you were an inspiration... ;o)
well i am heading out....goodnight all...
still need 9 words for queen bee so I'll probably quit. oh, I just found one like that.
