Winter storm fixin to blow thru here in an hour before heading East. Nice grid, btw
Hi IG. The storm will start here tonight and last until Friday afternoon.
morning Scrabbler
yesterday was so beautiful in the 70s followed by todays ice storm
We will get 9+ inches of snow and I am excited for a good weekend of snowshoeing and XC skiing.
looks like it going to be storm of the season scrab!
A few weeks ago we got that 12 inches on a Monday.
oh thats right! i am squashing those memories lol
Fun, Scrab!
Fresh snow is needed.
gm ladies! and gent! -1°F and no idea how much snow is out there, lots of wind last night so drifts are deceiving.
mornin, Dawger
Hi Dawg
still 55 degrees here this morning with the front bearing down
Living in the northwest, we're often excluded in the travesty of storms. this one hit yesterday and by the evening we were in the minus windchill numbers. and about an inch and a half of snow.
I just looked at the radar map for the US. That is one massive system.
it's hard to tell, but it looks like it's a polar express with a big punch to it! hope everyone has candles, batteries and other necessities. you know there are going to be power outages.
I will be in the office all day tomorrow and on call, so I hope the phone will be quieter.
Hope the phones are quiet for you too, Scrabs. take care!
Mothers worry less when the weather is very nice or very bad.
found a really cool radar mosaic, this storm is coming out of Siberia...that's why it's "slow" to hit Alaska and the lower 48. but it is coming and building.
Aha
I need to get ready for work. Enjoy this Groundhog Day, a most strange holiday.
celebration with rodents. yes very odd indeed. have a great day Scrabs! be safe!
greetings from alberta, babblers, where the temperature is a balmy -29C
whoa
hello all
hi hursh, lindy
that do be cold
i'm sure i reveal this every year around this time, but there's no sensation quite like having your nose hairs freeze
we're on the north edge of the storm here in mid michigan. currently 28 F and snowing a little, we should get 2" - 4". Or as much as 7" if it miraculously tracks north a little.
when it's this cold, it rarely snows; probably the only good thing about temperatures this low :)
true. are you having a sunny day?
see i feel the opposite. cold is not worth it if there is no snow to enjoy!
still dark outside, but yes, sunshine is expected later
i know it's early for him, but i'm hoping zooz checks in with us this morning
Is something going on over there?
Ds Demolished!
yeah he took an overdose a few days ago, and then was still sounding suicidal yesterday, so the police were called in to check on him
Oh my goodness.
in a nutshell, bea, there was some serious concern about his well-being last night
I pray he gets the help he needs.
from what he said, it sounds like he's had therapy and stuff in the past and not found it very helpful :(
Just read the chat. Very concerning.
mental disability is so difficult. people are so much more accommodating of physical disabilities
Therapy is tricky. If you don't find the right therapist, it can feel like it's not helping. Health care benefits often complicate finding the right therapist.
one of the few good things from these past 2 years is highlighting mental health, stress, burnout and having it more open
i would imagine living on an island might also mean you don't have as many options for therapists that are easily accessible
The last two years have been very difficult for people with psychiatric concerns. Many people do not thrive on digital therapy only.
and some people's conditions are just pretty intractable, we know that
true Molly, that's more of the bad part of the past 2 years
one of the many many bad parts
phantom: peptid
can I have the stats for the bottom row A?
aa5/10
I've been looking for that one a while
it's one of THOSE words

Someone said it's early over there in reference to Zoom. Isn't the UK ahead of us, time wise?
About six hours I think.
We are 5 hours ahead of Eastern time
i just checked: 2:02 pm in london...
Let me just say that The Commanders is the DUMBEST new name for The Washington Redskins. You know people are going to call them The Commies.
Have to agree with you there, Molly.
It took them 2 years to come up with that?
14.05 now ;)
it is 14.16 in the UK right now. It was late last night when Zooz was on. i was criticized for putting my personal phone number in the chat log. I was terribly concerned for him, and I'm not sorry I did that. It was also pointed out to me that he needed to speak to a professional, not me. For the record, I am a trained Samaritan Listening Volunteer, and I have spoken to many people who are in that dark place where Zooz was last night. Sometimes all a person needs is to be listened to.
Thank you, Soodle.
soodle, thank you for what you do, and for reaching out. I'm sure people were concerned for your safety, too. *hugs*
Soodle, I know you don
I'm so sorry, fat fingers, I know you guys don't know me because I rarely chat. I know you mean well, and I know how hard it is to see someone struggling. I have a friend in rehab right now who is in a similar position. Hang in there, the best we can do is be support for him. I understand, and I know how it feels. Thank you.
Today is tutu day (2/2/22) Put on your tutu and twirl around. 😊
stats for O in upper right corner pls
oy 6/24, oy 7/36
thnx
hagrid's in the puzzle today, hello all
howdy folks, I think what welki(?) meant for early for zooz is that he usually doesn't come on until evening.
Interesting that Enable won't take internet or spam, but it take la6.
Oh, okay, Thanks Carla.
zooz has a whole community here on his side, and i hope he feels a bit better today, knowing that we're all thinking of him. i hope he can get his meds adjusted and back to feeling okay
hmm, la6
I think la6 had a meaning before computers
I think I need more coffee
can only think of latent which is clearly not there
aha, what I'm typing on
I mean, computer is also an accepted word. The one I really disagree with is internet
its omission, rather
typing on my la6 to say hi/bye. Newbie today was ru5.18, a plant of the rose family. Keeping Zooz in my thoughts.. poof
I think it used to be capitalized
hi/bye, aloy!
Any one have stats for a Y that isn't yi4/7 (I have two of those)? Hi all!
yo4
yo4.7
OK, I feel silly now. Thanks.
I take that back on the capitalization of internet. finding nothing about that on...the internet.
I wasn't on Babble much yesterday so missed what happened - let me add my healing thoughts and kind wishes for Zooz. <3
I take back that takeback
"AP style guide decapitalized it from 2016"
Over to do wordle. About didn't make it yesterday. Too many options for the first letter of _hose.
luckily I had ruled them almost all out by then
Got it in three...See you all tomorrow.
nice, adios, bea
no sighting of zooz this morning? hope he's feeling better today
I was recently informed that he doesn't play until later in the day. Although I swear I have seen him earlier than that.
I'm amazed at the resourcefulness of this group sometimes and how even across an ocean Trif was able to reach the police and have them do a welfare check on him. Just great stuff.
and I hope he read the chat last night to see how much this community cares about him
I agree Ru. It was a great show of support. I hope it helped.
I don't know what happened with zooz but I'm so glad everyone was there to help!
I sure hope it helped. He sounded pretty set on it. Super scary.
Unlurks. I hope Zooz see how many of us care and don't want him to do anything final.
perusing and wow, great job guys
good morning all = will need to go back and check the chog - sounds like zoom isn't doing too well.
hope zoom is ok too -- guess he was last on before the flip our time.
will have to come back later -- busy morning today
r?
r not?
hello all....
hey pen!
hey carla...
are you feeling like your old self yet?....
What happened to her old self?
been doing PT, getting ready to go this afternoon, mostly better at this point, but still occasionally off. the PT said last week these vestibular exercises take a while to start working.
well at least it sounds like you are on a positive track...
yep, hope so
can someone please give me STATS for the bottom row A?...
aa5/10 i think
ty...
that was it...
Doing exercises in the vestibule is always helpful 😊

congrats!....doing ok here, thanks...
well done, sophie
You are all welcome! Now to place a Walmart order. And hopefully get it picked up before the ice hits.
are you in ohio too Sophie?
nope, Nashville
ahhhhhhhhhhh
Toledo here
we are expecting another snowstorm here on Friday....about a foot again, I think....
I saw our local guy saying we might have 3rd (or 4th?) weekend in a row with winter weather but I haven't looked closely at the forecast.
rain all morning, lots of soaking and puddles and now snow started
Sophie's icon is HUGE
well, just not finding these last 13. will probably have to list later. TTFN.
bye, carla...
Molly, sorry, it takes me forever to change out the grand kids' pictures each week......now I need to work on hugeness :)
Carla, need any clues ...... Just finished my pickup order
Hi, everyone. Any news about zooz this morning?
I just read through the archive for today - no Zoozz news as of the flip
ty mich. worrisome.
He was on after the police came by and thanked us for our concern, just before the flip. I worry about him, too. Depression is often so debilitating, but it can be ameliorated. I've been diagnosed as a depressive since I was 25, but lots of therapy and daily meds, along with yoga and walking keep me in a better place.
Last time this happened Zoom got very embarrassed and stayed away for a while. I hope that he concentrates on getting well this time.
Only in Babble chat would you see "ameliorated" 😊
we are a smart bunch, molly. Unfortunately intelligence doesn't help all that much in dealing with depression.
I'm 57 now - so more than 1/2 my life I've been learning how minimize what Winston Churchill called his "black dog" (he was bipolar).
I'm glad you're doing well, mich.
that explains a lot about Churchill
I think one of Zoom's obstacles to better mental health is that he lives in a very small, rural area.
Agreed, Molly
Nothing to be embarrassed about for Zoom. I've been there, too. A great doctor, a medicine, and lots of family and friends for support. But there are times for almost all of us when the storm clouds roll in, and it doesn't seem like we know where to turn. Praying he gets the help he needs.
I'll be back later to finish the grid. Be well, and happy hunting, babblers *poof
any cles for ru 5 . 18 please?
ru + public transport
Thanks Bugsaw!
it is not a word anyone uses. It is a plant
welcome to the game
Two more to go. su 6 . 27??
A plant! cool!
su is a compound word: under + old word for keyboarding
Isn't that the 7 word?
just so you can use this feature if you want to - to the left the words that you have entered is a ? in a box. If you tap on that it should bring up a definition. Odd thing is, a lot of words accepted here are without definition. That is why we say our monkeys found them.
Oh right, sorry. just add 2 letters to the word before it.
GOt it! Thanks for the ? thing. Nw I am down to one word left.....
Stuck on last word ty5,16
ty _+ friend well done!
Woo Hoo Thought I tried that already......
**Wonders where they serve friends well done
Happens a lot. Well done.
LOL. I thought I had put some spaces. Good thing she got it.
I prefer my friends rare. Hi folks.
hi ori. I am probably pretty rare - meaning odd
Heya Bugs. That's the angle I was going for 🙂
It is like the difference between "Let's eat, Grandma" and "Let's eat Grandma".
Hope you are well. I am supposed to be going for a long walk today but it is right on freezing out there so I am stalling around.
sad thing Molly is that I didn't even notice!
I'm meeting Ru in a little while to get some wine. Yay!
please pass on my regards to him and thank him for being so quick to engage zooz yesterday. If no-one had picked up on how desperate things were for him we would all be so sad today.
are you two still planning to come up in July? Last year was just one horrible thing after another and I lost track. . .
Will do. Yes, we are planning on July. Two years after we had originally planned.
lovely. I hope to meet you then
Yes, I'll talk with Ru to plan something.
So you and Ru are going to Canada together?
Yes. Hopefully Covid won't cause us to postpone again.
They are Molly. Coming up to meet with old friends from Babble, to see the country and to relax, I think. I am off. Happy Babbling everyone.
Have a nice day, Bugsy.
any word from zooz today?
Hi all. Just starting
Lucky Ori & Ru, meeting up with Bugsaw. One of the few Babblers I have met in person, and an absolute delight! Enjoy your meet-up. Another Babbler I have met is Trifiso. She played an absolute stormer last night. Whilst everybody else, me included, was flaffing about trying to comfort Zooz, Trif actively made contact with the Isle of Wight police & got them to call on Zooz. Not all heroes wear capes, but Trif was magnificent in a crisis. She deserves to wear a tiara for a year.
so any report today?
Any clue for the A word for bottom row A? Thank you
no.
i wish i had seen bugsaw sooner - where in canada is she, if anyone knows? we're planning on a trip to bc in july, to vancouver island
ooh lucky you!
will you be meeting up with ru and ori?
i don't know where they're headed, so probably not (but would be fun to get together)
I think Bugsaw is on the island. Welki
hello again, everyone
well wouldn't that be a hoot!
are you coming through Kelowna?
nothing is finalized yet, nan
i have a cousin in vancouver. it looks gorgerous.
Are you still here, nan?
yes -- how are you doing, pen?
ob 6 please
Doing ok…. I just copied the stuff I wanted on your page…Thanks for waiting for me…
Ob + exam….
not a problem -- I have some new ones I will put up when I have a minute :)
ty pen

duh - couldn't see that - ty
yw...
nor the most suited
well i didn't see the thing i am using to play this game... ;o)
zooz, my musical pal, i see you're online. please know i've got you in my thoughts
*waving to Zooz*.....
Hi Zoom, lots of good thoughts and prayers are coming your way from all your friends here.
Thank you everyone I have never known community like this where people really do care about each other. I am still a bit griggy from the tablets so please forgive me lol
I am so sorry to burdene you all yesterday. I am not sure what I said half the time.
((((Zooz))))....
hi zoozel. griggy is ok.
Good to see you Zooz 😊
Hugs Zooz x
i think you are never a burden. not at all, at all.
I t has been a very busy day today with so many people coming in and out with forms for me to fill out about exactly what I took and what lead up tp the situation I got myself into. I am exhausted lol
a friend is never a burden....
nope, never a burden
As a usual lurker, I wish you all the mellow best zoom. You have many friends here
I feel like crap yet I am determined to get babble done haha!
LOL...
spoken like a true babbler....
zooz it's good to see you.
priorities. important.
I read back in the chat log and I am grateful to you all for some wonderful and kind words. I think the neighbours was wondering what was upn last night when about seven police knocked on my door lol
back again -- hi zoom -- good to see you and hoping you get the meds straightened out soon.
just tell them it was a visit from your American friends... ;o)
Funny how next door knows nothing of what was going on and ((Trif)) thousands of miles away gets the police to me lol
it's amazing really....
yes -- good on trif
I have health carers coning round to see me for the next few days. I have a lot going on so I need to get some personal things sorted over time. Many hugs to you all. What an awsome community we have here.
Okay I am going to try and tuck into the grid now. Love you all â¤ï¸
understood....((((Zoom))))...
take awfully good care of yourself.
hugs right back zoom - take care and remember there is usually one of us around to talk to.
Just finished -- enjoy the rest of your day everyone. Back at the flip.
Zoom, I am glad to see you today and you seem to be in a better place.
Zooz. You are akin to Optrex.com. A site (sight) for sore eyes. You are a valued, much loved, and integral part of the fabric that is Babble. I was sad today to see Rubes in the grid. I still miss her. I don’t want to be missing you too. Hang in there, Buddy
That reminds me, Soodlebum that I must remove that from my profile. I miss her so much too. Optrex.com hahaha!
Yes sorry about that wht, I must confess to not knowing too much of what I said yesterday. Even now I am thuddy. in the head.
Thuddy or not, I am glad you are hanging in there.
It's so good to see you here today, Zooz!
zoozzoom, I'm grateful to know you have people who can help coming around. Speaking from a lifetime of dealing with severe depression, please know there are many of us who understand, and are with you in spirit. The worst thing about the sucking black undertow is it wipes away all hope. There were times I had friends (like we are here on babble) flat up tell me to get back on medication, see a counselor, and at one point, encourage me to go in-patient in the hospital. You didn't ask for major depression and unfortunately you can't deal with it alone. You have to get help to manage it. I hope you will be open to whatever your home visitors suggest. Plus, I don't want to lose you. We've been babbling for years and I want to keep on. ♥
Thank you â¤ï¸â¤ï¸ Ch 1212. Depression is the pits. I find it very hars to explain to people what it is like. All I can say to peeple is I am a miserable git lol It just saves having trying to explain that I am having one of my darl clouds coming over me again lol
I can spell (honest) I am using the xbox to play babble and the little chatpad is rubbish if I type too fast it will double the letters likes people becomes peeple lol
Silly xbox. Everyone knows that people are peeps. :^)
{{{ hugs }}}. I know you understand hard it is to get help when you're convinced it won't matter. But every time it always does, even if just temporarily. Keeping you wrapped in my prayers and beaming support your way.
su bo
oo ps
If Babble had a ‘like’ button, I’d like, like, like Ch1223
Ch2212’s post. Well said.
Sending love and big hugs your way, Zoom!
Soodle, just read what you did to reach out to Zooz. Sending you big hugs and thanks too. For me, there were people like you who cared enough to just listen and be there. Zooz, you have many of us here.
Thank you everyone. I am not very good at communicating how I appreciate all of you who sent me good wishes and reaching out to me too. I grateful. If I have not mentioned anyone by name I have still read your post and appreciate it as much also. â¤ï¸
I really am going to dive into the grid now lol
I'm stopping for a bit -- I took a babble break from writing my book. It's (ironically) the story of my lifelong journey through depression, mental illness and recovery, and the ongoing daily management I do. At 66 years old, I've been living my best life (thus far) but there are still times when I struggle. Right now I'm feeling so very grateful that zooz shared what was happening with him. Because he shared his truth, I think it gave many of us permission to share our own and let him know he is never alone. {{ hugs to all }}
zooz! so glad to see you.
Would be great to order the book when it is published, Ch1212. let us know when it is available in amazon!
Hello, Carla!
I will!
listen to any good music today?
Not sure if it is your type of music, Carla but at the moment I am listening to The Ananda Project - Cascades Of Colour.
You have to listen to it all to appreciates it lol
Not sure I neighbour is though as I have slept most of the day and it is now 11,05pm drinking a cup of tea and eating a sandwich. As my i think it is kidneys but they are hurting like mad lol
not familiar with that music
So nice to have you online, Zooz. Drink plenty of water to help flush your poor kidneys. The tea is a diuretic (though I love a good cuppa!)
did y'all see the nominees for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? some interesting choices there.
Thank you, Mich_pdx I will drink a glass of water too.
No sorry, Carla did not see it at all.
well, you've been busy
((zoozzoom))
LOL just a tad! Carla
Dolly Parton, Eminem, A Tribe Called Quest, Lionel Richie, Carly Simon to name a few
Dionne Warwick
Yeah not what I would call Rock & Roll artists but what do I know lol
ZOOZ !! my main man.... cooee from down under. xx
Hello,(oRose)p How are you? Not seen you in ages! I hope you are doing well?
Rage Against the Machine are probably the Rock-iest on the list. Also Pat Benatar & Devo. Oh Duran Duran and Judas Priest. There is also a band or person that I've never even heard of so no idea if they are actual rock & roll - Fela Kuti
Have you kidnapped, Sprite? Rose LOL
ummm, give me a definition of well...loll.... life is getting progressively physically harder at the moment.
never heard of them either, Carla.
i wish i had, zooz. my goodness i could do with a spritey hug right now. a gentle one though, newly diagnosed with shingles.
Aww I am so sorry to hear that, Rose. I take it you have a wheelchair to get around?
that's the worst, sorry to hear it, rose.
i have been spending time with cosdem. he's been through some challenging stuff.
((((((Rose)))))) as gentle as I can for you and a sweet little peck on you roasey cheek for you too.
hate to hear that too
awww thanx zooz. your hugs are the best. which cheek? i'll try not to wash it ever again?
Carla - the only rock and roll person you mentioned that i actually know is fela kuti - nigerian
zooz you know me. yes i have a wheelchair, but still determined to walk with my walker for as long as i can.
ha! mab
Sorry to hear that Cosdem is having a hard time. Please tell him I hope things will improve over time. Even though to bhe honest I do not know what is wrong. a Private thing for him and nice of you to help him with it too â¤ï¸
zooz, it is so good to see you here today. Everyone was so concerned about you yesterday. Just know we are all here for you.
* giggle * my pain doc says the only person he knows is more stubborn than i am, is my beloved DH.
so sorry grannyrose. so much going on. want you to feel better soon, soon, soon.
Origami Thank you â¤ï¸
aww thanx everyone. the emotional support here is so wonderful.
You are one strong lady, Rose. You keep fighting you hear me.
Wishing you a speedy recovery, rose.
and may i return the sentiment to you, dear man. i'm not ready for a zooz hole in my life.
i hate to say it, but we babblers are beginning to show our ages, maybe. i think we were all young when babbling came to be!
LOL so right, Mab!
Ru and I were just sayig that earlier today, mab.
ha!
yuppers mab. my birthday next month has a zero ,on the end.
was only 31 when I started playing
What 20 again, Rose!
You're the baby, hokie. 😀
32 I guess. math is hard.
roflol.... 3 and 1/2 times zooz
a mere child, carla. and oh, rose, an early happy 50th to you!
nah, hurshy's younger than me, and I think mael might just be in her 30s now.
sweet mab. if only.
hey zooz, did you see i am now a great-grangmother? twice.
* explosive giggles * thats great-GRANDmother
Oh wow! Congrats! You must he proud as punch. They will keep you on your toes that is for sure haha!
yep. i cannot believe it myself. that's the problem with having your own kids when you are young i guess. you get to see your kids kids have kids
I think that is sweet! You are seeing your family tree grow before your eyes. Such a proud moment to know you have done your part!
Are you still have your infusions, Rose if you dd not mind me asking?
it is zooz. and yes i am. next one the end of this month. i tried after the implant to do without but ended up in a complete mess requiring extra treatment like injections into my neck.
Oh ouch. Yes better to keep those infusions going then.
aali
lol.... the local anaesthetic migrated to my vocal cords and gave me a very sexy, husky voice. made Don say he was coming in to claim his conjugal rights...
Hahahaha!
add another vowel on the end zooz.
Yes sory about that.
funny, i seem to recall having the same reaction as you when Don said that.
Miss our little chat we used to have, Rose with Sprite too. so it is very nice to see you here.
zooz you still on the same email addy?
yes, sprite was/is so upbeat. but i worry for her. they are living in the caravan still. with an annex. it's so very cold, as you well know.
Nope. I have no computer just this xbox and I no longer have email.
Yes I had my concerns for her and Arob leaving a house to move into a caravan.
They should be okay to heat up but once the heat is turned off the cold will soon get back in.
aww mate. now how on God's green earth am i supposed to chat with you if not here.
I'm about to go live in one for a month ðŸ˜
a holikday Carla?
a caravan is a camper?
yep, going to sunny florida
have no idea where that k came from.
i do see you at the fkip but do not talk as that is the time people are giving out stats so I keep in the background lol
yes, TO. cracks me up every time I see it since caravan to us is a group traveling together.
where cosdem is, he has snow. part of a 2000 mile front apparently.
yes, I think he is in colorado?
ZOOZ !! you come right out of the hidey hole immediately.
yes, Carla. Colorado Springs, Colorado. actually looking at moving soon to Chicago.
to more cold and snow
Caravan is like a room you have a kitchen/ tableh Tiny toilet etc. Campervan is as I believe has an engine you drive it about like a care. The caravan you have to attach it to a car by the to bar.
but closer to his family and childhood friends.
yeah, so mine is more like a bus. not sure what you'd call it.
here they are motorhomes
Too much snow for me, aRose. One flake of snow is too much for me.
zooz, sprite and Rob have given up on the idea of building their tiny house on a trailer and are looking for a little bit of land to settle down on.
Yeah motorhomes sounds about right here too, Carla.
I hope it works out for them, Rose. I still prefer a brick house myself as a long as it works for them then I am happy for them!
and hello all
sorry zooz... what was that about flaky snow?
hey TO
whoot ! TO ! hello honey.
Hello, T Qwl! 🦉
Rose you said, Cosdem is in a part of a 2000 mile front of snow. I was just saying one flake of snow is way too much snow for me lol
ahhh, so not a comment about dandruff then... loll
Haha! I use head & shoulders so hopefully I do not have any anymore hahaha!
well, e had freezing fog. and are due for ice/mix friday. snow beats that by a mile
ugh TO. sounds ghastly. stay safe and warm, dear.
eww ice not good. Pleae be careful, T Qwl!
freezing fog...i am sure it has been around for ages, but not that's it's been identified and the talking heads are warning us ad nauseum...
well I'm struggling to finish this grid
i just want to be able to go out in the AM and to thefood pantry. wonder how many clients will show up toorrow?
laid
* giggle * at talking heads...
geez i am so sorry everyone.
At least you know i am on my last tile i suppose lol
no worries. maybe you could put some of my missing 9 words in the chat.
did i blink? or did you do something we all have done at some time?
I hate putting words in the chat as I feel it can spoile the enjoyment of players who want to find them without any help.
Cosdem went out late yesterday and stocked up. so he's okay for now.
aww zooz. we all do it....loll.....
Say I said hello to him next time you see him, Rose.
carla, we have dr. oz running for senator. what a joke.
have done so already zooz. he's still finishing up todays chores.
cos no longer babbles?
i cannot comment on that TO. or should i say i shouldn't comment. i miss him here too.
zooz, if you can, you need to get a mobile, because, you know, self-isolation.... we types tend that way and it's so really not at all good.
gee. and this is another reason to play and go
i found a prepaid calling card whist cleaning the other day. i could use it to phone overseas!
I am a carer for my parents, Mab so I am there everyday to help them with cooking cleaning etc.
for international calls, there's an app called "whatsapp" that allows audio calls or video calls
god bless you. can they do anything at all for themselves?
dr. oz is a quack. I hope he doesn't win.
No they are housebound now. I wash them feed them etc etc
he is too new agey for me. and he doesn't really live here
so good of you. but still, being able to email, etc. friends is spirit-raising often.
that's more than a full time job, zooz. wow.
god bless you. my mother did that for my grandfathter when my grandmother died. he eventually was bed bound. we could not have friends over, she never went to our graduation, etc etc etc
I do have a mobile it is a nokia the one that looks a bit like a small brick haha!
are you not caught up in the 5G chaos then?
oh no! 5 G will eat your babies! or some such madness.
5g I would be surprised if this has 2g LOL
I can play a game called snake on it thoughq
I had a flip phone not so long ago - really stone age.
zooz, do you all have any kind of senior programs where someone could come in for a couple of hours to give you a break? I know my mom struggled taking care of my housebound dad.
omg, so much i could say on the topic of 5G....
well, here's the thing: old phones won't work on the new technology. so one must upgrade. or die.
I liked the the look of those nam me up scotty phones!
TO, noooooo. i love my blackberry. don't take my BB from me. pleeeeease.
beam*
and the aviation community is runing around with their hair on fire claiming interference with radar altimeters. those are very handy things to have when flying.
well then zooz have yo seen the new foldable phones
I told friends they would come back into style - ha! and they have!
No I have not, T Owl. ibet they look good!
but expensive TO. i will up-grade to one when the price comes down a bit more.
Oh by the way, T Owl, Wet Leg have a new single out called Oh No!...i have not heard it yet though.
but really, there are laptops that are affordable - good ones - and a proper mobile can do everything a laptop can do, and probably more.
tried a tablet phone. but the screen doesn't like my finger tips. i have to use a stylus, even on the blackberry.
yes, phone and tablet keys are hard for some - i'm so painfully slow with them.
here zooz
type badly, and peck even worse.
tinyurl.com/2p9y4nb2
ty zooz i will check that out. and I will send you some new stuff next i see you
the bands i have been reviewing that come to us unsolicited are pretty awful so far. maybe 10% are worth a look
Flip 3 with BTS doing the ad I see.
gotta love them.
golly, cello sonatas here, but do adore aretha, and getting to know adele, who's stunning.
that phone has me drooling.
adele was a shy 19 when first saw her, right in gront stage
her voice and her appearance don't match - such a surprise to hear her bust out.
It is funny listening to adele sing and what a beautiful voice she has. Yet when she talks she talks like a true cockney accent lol
must have blown you away, owl.
and bts has been on my radar a couple of years. they have that andrygenous quality that makes teen girls go wild. like the beatles.
cockney, really? so interesting.
ducking out for a while. zooz lovely to catch up with you. please don't be a stranger at flip time. xx
have had the good fortune to see many acts before they broke big. that's fun. and other close up with volunteer work.
bts- love the bits I've seen of them.
joss stone. omg
by rose
i mean, bye
take care rose.
bye rose
Have a wonderful day. Rose. So nice to catch up with you 💖
hmmm i am considering trying m hand at making a dutch baby for dessert tonight. are they like a custard?
I think they're more like a pancake
but I've never made one, just seen them on TV or in magazines.
never tried dutch baby - yes, like pancake or more like yorkshire pud?
hmm that is disappointing. custard would be lovely
I don't really know what a yorkshire pudding is like
nor do i. texture-wise
Google yorkshire pudding or toad in the hole and younwill see.
dumpling-like, sort of jammy texture inside.
so sort of ---ccustardy?
No not like custard at all.
okay i stupidly had a frozen dinner and of course it had a zillion calories and i am still hungry....:/
as i recall. everyone's yorkshire seems a bit different and everybody thinks their's is not quite right.
well THAT sounds about right, mael
sorry, mab
yes! a brit knows!
I ordered these diet meals from bistroMD and I am still hungry as well.
it was not a zillion calories
When you put the mixture in the mould with the oil in it make sure the oil is really hot first otherwise they will not rise.
ahhhh HA!
looks good, but not what I'd think of a pudding
the dutch baby seems to operate on the same priciple - hot butter, not oil
my brit friends are critical of their's, my mom didn't like hers, and on and on.
would be better off making a microeave bread and butter pudding. that would be custard.
anything bready i love.
i found this recipe on line and it is so good and fairly healthy as desserts go.
i just do not have proper bread to make it.
have given up meat, so broccoli with nice sauce and noodles, i think. need to go to supermarket tomorrow. fresh veg and fruit just have no shelf life at all.
Mab , I love your profile pic - John Lewis embracing Barack Obama <3
gtg feed me. again. later.
zooz isn't that a great phone?
oh, thanks. miss john lewis so very much. posted for black history month.
gosh i miss him.
hi Zooz.. great to see you and I hope you're feeling a little better. I'm so glad Trif helped arranged a welfare check on you. Everyone is pulling for you to make it out of this depression. I hope you can make subtle changes to your routine to allow you more time to do good things for yourself. Do you have any siblings that can help you with your folks so that the Burden isn't always on you?
He was a mighty person - such a national treasure
sad to see the last of the civil rights people die. we need their spirit, drive, courage so much now.
their ability to think and plan, etc.
Ruru! I was hoping to see you. Thanks for being there when I had my skit. My sister is trying her best to help too. Hse has four children so it is very hard for her to do as much as she woukd like to. She has been helping though. Thank you for being there for em mate I appreciated it more than you might realise it.
Zooz!!!! I am so happy to see you! A GIANT hug for you, from across the pond.
S you can see my typos are still doing the rouns lol
hey zooz! good to see you, typos and all
think we're all fluent in typos, so not a problem.
Hello dan2!
and everyone else
I'm glad I was some kind of help Zooz. I understand depression a bit, not as much as you or CH1212, but I've been there. I hope you have better days ahead of you now.
Jeez - are we all depressives around here?
Trif... you were amazing yesterday. Resourceful and determined and I'm sure you helped Zooz out of his pit in many ways.
Thanks for making the call, Trif. I was surprided to see about seven police outside my door though haha!
Yes usually it's for you to turn your music down zooz :D
LOL
I feel a sense of embarrassment about the number that showed up, but I am so glad you are okay, zooz. Let's your neighbors think you were throwing a rager!!!
I have to say, the woman I spoke with, Linda, was LOVELY - you sure do have a good constabulary!
Trif was the hero? So great! Brilliant Trif!
what a great word, constabulary
I WAS NOT! I was just a concerned person who made a call. Zooz is the hero of his own story
7 does seem a bit excessive.
Trif did a heroic thing.. Zooz felt our support for sure. I'm happy with the results
must have been a slow day on the isle....
Well said, but you're a miracle too, trif.
Please stop calling me a hero, it makes me very uncomfortable I am no more than I helping friend. Any one of you would have done the same
well, I commend your presence of mind of getting it done, trif.
Zooz, YOU are the hero of your story. What you have gone through is epic in scope, and yet you prevail. As an English teacher, you are the DEFINITION of an epic hero. YOU are the hero
My kidneys are killing me though and I am very tired too and have been sleeping a lot.I will be going to bed again soon. I was jusy staying up late so I could thank Trif and Ruru in person. you all are such wonderful people. With that I will bid you all a goodnight xx
Goodnight dear zooz, and sleep the sleep of the just
good night zooz.... thank you for letting me know I helped a little.
Sleep well, dear zooz, and awaken refreshed and renewed! And drink another glass of water :)
KNow you are well regarded and very valued, zooz
dream sweetly zooz.
good night zooz, hope tomorrow is better.
(mails T shirt to Trif... Front: not a hero... Back.. a F-ing hero
lolol - f-ing fired if I wore it to work!
LOL, I love it!
Yes!!! clever ru-ala.
honestly, the puns, the t-shirt. do you do stand-up too?
molly helped too.. and reached Dr. God to help locate Zooz.. what an amazing group of people in this community ...
I have punner's tourettes syndrome Mab :D
a pathology yet a gift
I'm a pretty funny person in person.. always looking towards the comical side of life
like that monty python song.
ruru, where r u?
Oh I am so relieved o hear that someone located zooz! He's been on my mind today.
me.. in California the Wine Country mich
Lovely! perhaps if there's a west coast meet up, you can pun in person. I'm in Oregon or Washington, depending on the time of year
if I ever make it back to wine country, oh, I'm looking up ruru
I got to meet him a few years ago when i was in SF. He's a charming man.
charming, really? 😜
charmy, schmarming - is he funny?
indeed.
and animated
you're more than welcome to visit here hoke
Mich I'll be retiring before too long up in Washington at some point
Lovely - eastern or western washington?
well I don't know if I'll make it there before you retire
western washington.. Port Townsend area
Oh, it's lovely there - a great place to retire too
I'll probably keep my house down here too hokes..
yes.. I feel serenely peaceful there on the ocean. I can't wait to move up there.. hopefully in a year and a half likely
I'll come visit you over there - I'm in Seattle helping out my Mom with Parkinson's.
my friend doesn't live around there anymore and we haven't talked anymore about any cross country motorhome trips.
have you ever heard of airplanes hokie?
ugh, mich, my dad had Parkinson's. not easy.
what is this airplane you speak of?
maybe google it ramchop.. I'm sure you have an airport near you :D
maybe
Yeah, she's been in her own house, but will move to the family house in the next year, so we can help her daily. My sister 1/2 year, me the other half. Now I just do tasks and drive her to appointments, and take out the garbage each week :)
i can take you to gluten free restaurants and gluten free wine tasting hokes
:D
well, the wine tastings should all be gluten free
oh carla, so many have bread and crackers for clearing the palette - not very celiac-friendly
very true, was thinking about those littler oy6 crackers when I posted that
Funnily enough, Ruru, we had a friend over for dinner tonight, and he was waxing laconic about how much he loves that very area!
plus it's nice to have a nibble when tasting to avoid getting schnockered quickly
must have gluten-free options for that by now, for heaven's sake.
there are some good crackers but not a lot
It was quite funny actually - he is an albino, and very active in the National Albino Association. They are, after a couple of years off, having their yearly conference again. Where are the having it? Orlando. Think that through....and albinism conference IN ORLANDO. Friend was saying Seattle area would have been a much more sensible choice
i guess they are used to sunscreen and want to be warm
it really is a nice place to live.. still mostly farm country with some nice sophistication. it's been nice to have lived here this long, but California will be too expensive for me to retire in
Florida pales in comparison to Seattle for conferences :D
you've seen 'sideways' i presume?
I can't remember the name of my friend's town, somewhere between Pleasonton and Livermore.
yes.. i've seen sideways.. it's pretty funny.. it sure had an effect on the wine biz in its day
Dublin?
Castro Valley?
i'm not drinking any f merlot.
paul g. was perfectly cast in that role
maybe Dublin
so funny.
There are a few really nice merlots mab.. but not many. It's just not a good grape on its own unless it's a special location and farmed well
I'm looking at a map right now. There was an outlet mall nearby I remember. And I saw a wild turkey when i was walking through her or nearby neighborhood.
there are wild turkeys all over the place here
I remember liking Pleasanton
oh, i guess there must be. was thinking of line from movie. in the restaurant, dining with the two women.
the funny thing about the movie is Paul G's greatest wine Cheval Blanc is 40% merlot :D
ah.
I never saw the movie
arguably the best merlot on the planet (along with Ausone, Petrus, and Pavie)
I am a cabernet girl, all day and all night.
nothing wrong with that trif
me: something rouge (sauvignon?) once a year, of indiscernible quality.
I like nearly everything .. it just depends on what I'm eating. I'm far from a wine snob
but you know, which makes all the difference.
and have the palette.
palate?
I think I've told this before but the only wine I've ever liked was a late harvest semillon(sp?) and my friends thought it was gross. that was in Napa but I can't remember the name of the winery
palate, mab. well done!
Probably Stony HIll hokie
I have texted my friends to ask. that doesn't sound right.
I'm a believer in that whatever people enjoy is perfect.
ok, it was Silverado we think
maybe Dolce or Beringer makes one too called Nightingale. there aren't too many LH Semillons here
Oh.. Silverado would be a late harvest Sauvignon blanc and semillon
I really like the Silverado wines.. well done stuff
I'm going to go make dinner. Trif.. thank you again for going the extra mile. You may feel differently than me but I think you went above and beyond to help a great human being crying out for help. Bless you.. night all
we think it was 2013
good night, ruru
later, ru
13 is a great late harvest year hokie.. you have good taste
agree. night ru
yeah, I would've bought some but it was like very very expensive for a tiny bottle
it's really expensive to make hokie.. that's why
yeah, the guy explained it all
kinda neat except for it being some kind of mold
I hope Trif sees that comment.. night all
and also expensive because they can't make it every year
if I see her again I will tell her to read back
true
how did it take me so long to get te 6/21 when zooz was talking about having a cuppa with dinner? (head shake)
I was so happy when I saw that this morning because I usually can't see it
woo hoo! firewords! - although this was a small grid, the situation with zoozzoom affected me quite a bit and made concentration difficult. I'm so grateful that he was in better sorts today and that so many babblers came out of lurking to state their support of him. It's a really good group here
agreed. and good job!
I was reading back through the chat. I spent my high school years in Pleasanton (rural area in the hills).
It used to be a great place. Now hugely developed.
I'll be back for the flip. Happy hunting, babblers
we just stopped on our way from the airport to my friend's house and had lunch there, didn't really see a lot of it.
any help with the pi5?
hi faith, alternate spelling of an herbed rice dish
got it thank you!
yvw!
