Nice grid with a lot of 'regular" words

6:06 am

Agree Italian

6:21 am

hello all

6:25 am

clue for the U? (so I can stick to my somewhat arbitrary parameters for beginning to list, haha!) thanks.

6:26 am

nevermind, POP worked! :D

6:27 am

pop?

6:28 am

oh, that's from an old game site I used to frequent, it means "power of the post" - when you ask for help and find it right after - it "pops" out at you. but thanks again for caring!

6:30 am

I have no O words, am I blind or stupid?

6:31 am

ot 6/18 for the single, I only have 2 for the other so far, og 4/6 and pl.

6:32 am

Thanks, got the small ones, is the Ot a weird one?

6:33 am

os 4/4

6:34 am

Thanks

6:34 am

ot 6 has to do with hearing, I believe

6:34 am

here in grid fairly often

6:36 am

guess I was wrong, the ot 6 means "being at leisure; idle; indolent" or "superfluous or useless". I'd never looked it up, apparently.

6:37 am

gone all this time without knowing the meaning of such a perfectly useful word, how did that happen!

6:39 am

we spell it with a Z in italian and it's a fairly common word! :)

6:50 am

I hate words that are laid out in the grid like that. They are so hard to see.

7:40 am

Any clues for that im word?

7:41 am

Oh i got it. Ty.

7:45 am

Any clue for the ot 6?

7:50 am

Idle

7:59 am

and impetigo for that matter! I'm dancing all around that i7

8:09 am

oh there it is, duh

Good mrrnong

This train is bouncing around so much I can hardly type

8:40 am

hi owl!

how can an ot4 be such a PITA?

it's an ot 6

ot6 is a babblet for me, only know it from here. I found it easy enough when I was wild goose chasing(?) the ot4

well, 40 left after first pass but I got HOET at least.

9:14 am

how can an ot5 be such a pain?

is there really an ot5?

9:20 am

It's ot6

9:25 am

1st pass done - bbl for last 23 - have a great day all and take care - poof

hi/bye, monty

9:27 am

Good call Carla. I added ot6 to my list of words only seen in Babble.

9:28 am

name that harrowing graphic novel in the grid

I just looked up the def today and not what I was expecting

no idea, mael. only harrowing graphic novels I've read are Walking Dead, and not sure if those are classified as gn or comic books

9:30 am

I'll pass. Don't read graphic novels/comic books

9:30 am

only graphic novel to ever win a Pulitzer, been in the news recently because Tennessee is terrifying

I was wondering if it was that one but I can't remember the name.

9:31 am

Maus (thanks to Google)

oh yes

9:31 am

it is Maus. Please read it if you ever have a chance!

ok, have made it to 16 and am stuck. much better than yesterday's grid, though.

mael, I barely made amazing yesterday on the bee, and looking at the words I missed today...those are ridiculous

9:35 am

apparently I was only missing one, TRICOT, and I have no idea what that is!

I got tricot! it's kind of fabric related.

not doing well on today's bee either

9:38 am

I'll try to remember for next time we have that letter combo!

there were several t's that I know from here but am shocked they were accepted there.

no idea what picot, pipit are. and I try coir here all the tim but it's not a word.

9:42 am

Coir is fiber made from coconut husk....

9:42 am

coir works in babble

9:43 am

see you all later, heading to the store now :)

oh, maybe I do try it here but thought I'd tried it there before. anyhoo, lots of BS yesterday IMO

I'm going to give it a rest and try to see my last 15 later.

Belated hi, mael

Mael. Damned autocorrect

10:25 am

keep seeing that squinty eyed cartoon character.. hi all

10:47 am

Go6/24 clue please....

10:48 am

une is graveling for clues :D

10:49 am

Rock me, Ru!!

10:55 am

has double consonant

10:56 am

Well that narrows it down since there is only one double constant pair in the grid

10:57 am

sorry did not know how to clue never heard that before

10:58 am

Tx!!

11:04 am

good morning everyone :)

11:05 am

any GN today?

11:06 am

question -- is this bee game that you all talk about the spelling bee from the NYT?

11:06 am

yes

11:06 am

Good morning

11:06 am

ok - went there to try it out, but have to take out a subscription for the NYT to play - not about to happen

11:07 am

you can do a few words without subscribing, that is what i do

11:07 am

i just try to get a pangram and then enough other words to get to the "subscribe if you want to find more"

you can also pay for a games subscription only, definitely on your phone. not sure about on the website

11:08 am

not about to do that either leigh - not that important to me

11:09 am

ru - are you still here?

11:14 am

this is a pretty nice grid i'd say

11:14 am

working on the last 30 -- not so nice anymore

11:15 am

I am here

11:15 am

i did one pass and got to 13 left

11:15 am

and i have all the 7s which is unusual for me

11:15 am

you asked be a question the other day - not sure if yousaw my answer because it was some tome later: Kelowna

11:16 am

It is a pretty easy grid. I did see that nan. I will start doing research

11:17 am

so, any GN today?

11:18 am

haven't found one hurshy

11:18 am

gno

11:19 am

lol

11:20 am

thanks

11:20 am

left col grey!

11:22 am

bottom 2 rows grey!

11:22 am

For all you Wordle freaks I have a write up in my Babble profile about the word lists used in that game

11:22 am

rehi - I cannot get the pangram today and am wondering if it's a word I wouldn't know (no hints, please)

i got the pangram! it was a festival that was held on the jersey shore in the 2000s for pop punk

hokie it will knock you for a loop :D

11:23 am

I can't get Wordle to open.

11:23 am

KT, the source code gives you the exact words. some computer nerds on my other forum saw that a couple of weeks ago and then one of them got 1 and we were like, how did that happen? so then they explained it.

11:24 am

apparently wordle is transitioning to NYT today, ori. some people got it on the old link, some got it on the NYT page

11:24 am

I was able to play on the old link today.

11:25 am

why would you want the word lists for wordle?

11:25 am

It transitioned to NYT for me today - You lose all your stats

11:25 am

i think you would know the pangram hokie

11:25 am

I have a subscription to NYT games and it isn't appearing there for me.

i wish they would add it to nyt games

11:25 am

embezzle

11:25 am

nor me, ori

11:26 am

lol, that put me to genius bichon

i played on the old link and kept my stats

11:26 am

@hokie - I always check out the source on new pages and found the js the first time I played it.

11:26 am

bamboozle

11:26 am

sigh

11:26 am

I did see the pangram when I just went back but had nothing to do with leigh's clues since I have no idea what goes on in jersey

11:27 am

still don't know why anyone would want the word lists though

11:27 am

me either, nan

11:27 am

bichon, you're in the wrong game!!

11:27 am

you are talking about the original wordle? not one of the knock offs?

11:27 am

Spelling Bee?

11:27 am

yes

11:28 am

yes, but why are you posting answers here, bichon?

hahaha sorry carla

11:28 am

and yes, nan, original wordle

11:28 am

I was asking KT if he was.

11:29 am

I say "no hints please" and leigh drops some and then bichon straight types the words. 🤣🤣🤣

11:29 am

I thought people wanted pangrams in Spelling Bee

11:29 am

she only wanted us to say if we thought she could get it or not.

11:29 am

no worries, I found it before that

11:30 am

ok, back to this game. can I find last 11? I have 1-6-4 left

11:30 am

2-5-2

11:31 am

SS LLL B GG A SS

11:31 am

A words are all 4s and 5s

11:32 am

fyi, I was not looking for the Wordle list and was surprised it was available in the source. I check web page source to see if there are security issues/holes and if it is a web site I want to search historical pages for data using a script.

11:32 am

duh, I had a weird a4 and it was a regular a5 that was an ext of that

11:33 am

listing for last 24 - had enough

11:33 am

IOW, KnightTime is a computer nerd. haha

11:33 am

2nd col grey!

11:33 am

Yes, been in IS for 40 years

11:34 am

my oldest is in CS in college right now.

11:34 am

any BH word?

11:35 am

ty carla - didn't have that either - just the 5

11:35 am

done with 4s!

11:36 am

yes, bh5

11:36 am

ty vi!

11:37 am

You're welcome. =)

11:38 am

ah, my missing B

11:38 am

gracias

11:39 am

De nada.

11:45 am

now stuck on 9 left. guess I will just wait for people to ask for clues. 😜

11:48 am

that's why I listed carla - want to finish and have breakfast :)

11:50 am

just finished the m's -- anyone know what happened to our kiwi friend, mo4? Haven't seen him or is it her around lately

11:50 am

for example if you view source on this page - you can see that the developer hides the words and gets them from an external source using an Ajax call. Wordle exposes the lists which is poor programming.

11:53 am

nan, I chatted with him in early Jan on serpentine. tried to talk him into coming back here.

11:54 am

KT, I don't even know programming and think it's bad you can just look at future answers.

8 to go

11:59 am

ty carla -- wish he would come back too. And I agree on the word list for wordle -- would take all the challenge out of the game.

12:03 pm

*!*~*!* hagd everyone - a few new ones for me in there.

bye nan!

all done, not too bad

12:05 pm

if the lists are buried in the code, carla, you usually have to sort your way through to find the words and as Kt said it is part of the program, so can't be avoided. That doesn't mean that most people would or would want to look them up.

12:07 pm

yeah, why bother playing?

Hello

1:25 pm

it sure does ty ;Monty

1:41 pm

oo

2:29 pm

@hokie - The first list contains words that are acceptable to guess - it contains over 10000 words. So I do not see that helpful. The other list contains words that are possible answers - it contains over 2300 words - so again I do not see that as necessarily helpful. The lists are not directly in the source but are in a javascript that can be opened by a browser. Since a person is only given 6 guesses, the surfeit of words in both lists would not help other than perhaps helping to devise a strategy on optimal guesses.

2:32 pm

What I find interesting is that the acceptable guesses outnumbers the acceptable answers by a factor of 4.

2:45 pm

im 7/36, pls

2:46 pm

Have fun all -- see you tomorrow!

9:30 pm

halo haloes

9:36 pm

I still don't understand this game... why are there numbered tiles on the right and what do they mean? Just joined a few days ago.

10:07 pm

http://licketysplitaus.googlepages.com\n/babbleclues @ hushtones

10:08 pm

hushtones use this link to help explain your question

10:38 pm

Hi hush

10:39 pm

Hushtones, click on Angelsong's Babble Page below the grid. It gives you the basic run down.

10:40 pm

Or "HELP" above the Chatterbox!

10:43 pm

In both Tile Stats and Word Stats, the numbers tell you how many words there are of each type, and how many words you have gotten. For example, the H tile says -0/6 because there are 6 words starting with H, and I have none of them. When I get all 6, it will be grey instead of white

11:05 pm

Just in case anyone is wondering about eh Indian bh5/20, this is what it is.... https://www.vice.com/en/articl\ne/kbx94a/httpmunchies-vice-comarticles\nthe-bhang-lassi-is-how-hindus-drink-th\nemselves-high-for-shiva

Sorry for the entrance without greeting anyone and with all the knackered keyboard typos. Hi all. I woke up and came in ready for the flip, then realised I was an hour early.

11:10 pm

I'll probably be zzing again by flip time, but can be here for a while if anyone needs a clue or two for the current grid.

11:11 pm

Une - fw??

11:12 pm

F*ckwit?

11:52 pm

11:53 pm

Sorry, I didn;t realize that.
