I am trying to figure out a gift card for my 33 yr old nephew's birthday today.
cash
He is a computer engineer so I am looking at a computer store.
Cash rules, right?
Id have no idea what to get a 33 year old, except cash
OK, I sent an e-gift card for Amazon. He will have many many choices.
wow - you are on it!
I gave meat to the guys this year. There's a small meat market near us, so I gave gift cards for that. Let them eat meat! ;)
glad you clarified that first sentence

Haha.

When I was a kid, Chucks ruled the tennis shoe world
But they weren't called chucks then.
the ne8 and the un8 are anagrams
so they are
the converse chuck taylors? yeah, I think calling them chucks came in the 80s, maybe 70s. but I have no idea when Molly was a kid.
ha, i didn't even notice that
We called them Chucks when I was a kid. What did you call them?
hightops
But I never had a pair.
we called them converse in Italy
well, I was an 80s kid and they were Chucks but I don't remember hearing that until my teen years
and I just remember calling them converse as well
The article I just read said "Chucks" evolved in the 70's which is when I was referring to.
interesting. maybe it took longer to reach us in the mountains.
the mountains, the mountains, we greet them with a song whose echoes rebounding their woodland heights along shall mingle with anthems that hills and fountains sing till hill and valley gaily, gaily ring

fw.. any clues needed before I start de-decorating?
Have a great day everyone! Poof..
I am always interested in how long people leave their Christmas decorations up and why. We are ready to be done with them on New Year's Day.
I have neighbors who have left their tree up until March in previous years.
Mine stay up until The Epiphany.
There's Ukranian and Greek Christmas
January 5 and 6 seem to be big dates. Epiphany and Twelfth Night.
my husband rips the tree down the morning of the 26th
as a kid we kept everything up until after the epiphany
now the compromise is that I take down the tree on the 26th, but I can have the lights in the windows as long as I want
A lot of the Orthodox sects celebrate January 7.
Mael when does your tree go up?
In days gone by, the tree wasn't put up until Christmas Eve.
usually mid December
that's how my grandma did it, tree went up on the 24th
we waited until after St Lucia on the 13th
I think it would be kind of nice to wait until Christmas Eve. But I don't think my kids would have.
Italians seem very festive about the Saints days.
it's very regional :) we had our town fair every year for the patron saint (st anna, july 26). Most other places wouldn't have cared
and st lucia is a thing only in scandinavia and a few regions in italy (trentino, veneto and some places in sicily)
I saw some great Saint Lucia candle crowns on Etsy. They are a bit expensive though.
down to 35 left, 11 Fs
they're pretty :)
19 left, heading to lunch
see you all later!
