also the pegs have dried and shrunk so they are too loose to hold - tried rosin but that didn't work. Can't buy new ones because the instrument is about 150 years old or more and they need to be hand made. It was given to me by a friend of my grandmothers - it had belonged to the friends husband and had come with them from Germany -- that's as far back as I know it's history.

my dad gave me a fiddle several years ago to learn (he & my oldest brother played in old time bluegrass bands for years). I learned a couple of easy songs but didn't stick with it. violin/fiddle is hard to pick up in your 40s.
i'd like to take music theory class. not sure i'd keep up when it comes to key changes and a million other things.
I'm teaching one student in voice right now, but it's hard during tax season to find time for things.
I think I would be starting all over again at 80 - practically impossible!

Fun. I've done a few things here in this town. I usually sing a piece in the Messiah every year.. but again, not since covid.
We did a Rogers and Hammerstein revue and that was so much fun.
But I've done a lot more at the tax office the last 4 years since my husband can't do his old job, so I just haven't had the time for that.
musicals - also love. sondheim said that if hammerstein, who took him in as a kid, was a geologist, he would have become a geologist.
