don't miss that - we keep daphne's coat short. it seemed that, no matter how many times or how well i thought i brushed her, she'd end up with matts in her ears or under her legs
yeah, I just cut out a bunch of mats in both those places.
i feel bad about her short hair, she looks so beautiful with a show coat
she is a golden? they say you shouldn't cut them too short because it messes with the undercoat and they can't regulate temp well.

have you seen where people are breeding cocker spaniels with goldens to have a "mini golden"? I saw one in my neighborhood and the lady told me it was a mini, so I had to google it. it sure enough did look just like a little golden.

i'm not sure how i feel about those designer breeds - last time i brought daphne in for a grooming, the whole place went wild because she wasn't a doodle

i'm enjoying my two labradors right now.. they make me laugh
our first dog was a chocolate lab and he was a nightmare. dealt with dominance aggression and food aggression for 5 years and finally had to have him put down. he also had surgery 3x to remove foreign objects.
my last golden Dylan was food aggressive. he settled down a lot after neutering

our neighbors had a female golden that was always the only dog/person dominant over him, so they would feed him when we traveled and bring her over to keep him in line. the protocol was you keep him in another room, put the food down, then let him in and stay out.
