Good night freep, and thanks to you too!
morning
Hi aslindy. I was here for a bit then played some words in games.
no idea what that dh6 is
totally just guessed it
Clue please!
what made me think of it was a TV show called Dh6 and Greg, but this one is spelled with an N instead of M
which is probably the dumbest clue ever
TY for that word.
I remember that. Thank you...I was all around it and super annoyed! ;)
thank goodness it helped! I had no idea how to clue it!
also, I was really annoyed when that show ended on a cliffhanger and then was just done
I never watched the show regularly.
thaing - like that stevie ray vaughan song "pride and joy"
Time to get ready for work. Enjoy the day.
bye scrab
ar7/28.....clue please
an 6/18 insert an r as second letter
I have tried...doesn't seem to work?????
ty anrike....but I still can't find it.
sorry autocorrect changed your name,anike.
still need help with the ar7/28, please.
look up lipstick tree, then change second letter
or do what anike said
hello everyone
what a monster grid
my thoughts exactly, mael
hey bea :)
wow! pulled that d from the memory bank
I'm lost or I have the wrong word for lipstick tree
I've always thought of it as a flavoring
one has to INSERT an R as the second letter when using the lipstick tree as a base.....
the an6 that is, the ar7 is a variant spelling
they're the same thing, funnily enough :)
Again, I must have the wrong word for lipstick tree. There are no R and C that connect in this grid.
stats on the d, please bea? I'm sure I know it but I've tried all the usual suspects I remember haha
think of the south american spice
dh6.24
guess you have the wrong tree, molly....
I wouldn't have known it as a tree either. Shrub maybe, but it's famous for dye and flavor
Yeah, I had the wrong word. The word I was looking at was achiote.
thanks bea!
hah, it IS achiote
I got the word though, thanks mael.
ar7, an6, and an7 which is not in the grid today are all achiote
I have tried everything to get that word. Alas
thanks English for all the synonyms!
got it bea, thanks
do you have the an 6/18?....that lipstick tree s the base....we have had that word before....add an R as the second letter....that gives you the ar 7....
sorry....should have said BICHON.....etc....
no, I don't
if you google it, you will find it....
the an 5 is shown in the pics for the search....
what A is it from?
a red flavoring popular in south American food, bichon
top A
that works if she knows anything about south american food....i don't, lol....
ty
hah, I don't think I've ever heard it called a lipstick tree myself, so the opposite approach might work!
finally finished the As, phew
What a great plant. You can make lipstick, body paint, use as a spice and use for medicinal purposes.
vegetal multitasking :)
It will cure some of your ailments, spice up your food and make you look good all at the same time.
hah. I'm mad at myself that it took me this long to find the 9 and the 10 :)
i would think so, meal
in my defense it's the twistiest grid I've seen in a while! I didn't even see the word, I tried it just in case
my longest word so far is a 7 lol
takes a while to get going today :)
its a doozy shirl.
i already know i won't be finishing today
thane
oops
thanks! :)
and mea culpa again on the ri8! lol
'morning everyone
hey, welki

folks like eric utne intimidate the crap out of me - they've done so much, makes me feel like i've done nothing worthwhile with my life *lol*
should say, he'd intimidate the crap out of me, if i ever met him
She said he was very nice
that would make it even worse :D

That is from another N.
Ty anyway
Whales and sharks? Must look. Ty
I THINK the word is mammals but i dont see that here. Nor anythingthat can rhyme with it. Is this a word i would know?
Na 6 rhymes with not Army, Navy, Air Force or Coast Guard
sharks are not mammals. and yes, it is a word you would know.
A country is from a different N. So i hope that is not what you are cluing. I have that one.
well more words said there are no na sixes. Darn.
was hoping it would be quiet in here by now...
we can shut up bea :)
it's not you
more words has changed their search so i cant get na six letters. Anyone know why? I put astericks for the letters i dont know and hit search and up comes 1200 words to use with scrabble. From naan on. Any ideas? I am using an ipad so maybe that is the issue?
what word are you looking for?
Na six from the N in first column. Not seeing anything
mkg, change the first letter of The Few. The Proud. The ...
And it rhymes with mammals or something, but there is no m or l in the grid. So i am totally confused.
US Ma**** Corp.
Change the first letter to an n
Got it! I knew the ma**** corps but i tried with a T. Ok. Now i got it. Ty ty. Ty
Ok no blank anythings so now to get half way. Ty all for the help.
hello - anyone here?
hey, nan
Almost gone. But i am here. Hi nan
Just got half way.
Hi nan approaching half way
hi all
not fond of these large grids - opened last night, took one look at the number of words and shut it down. Have been popping in and out this am and am stalled with 149 to go -- think the rest will be very tough sledding
its a tough one
tough but rewarding, sort of
finding every grid to be more frustrating than the last lately
well, you can always take a babble hiatus for a bit
might just do that
no need to torture yourself
just starting
g'morning mool
it would be nice to have a grid without all of the weird ones
dh 6? no way that can be english!
hindi
exactly my point
then again, shampoo comes to us from hindi too
so really it's not the source so much as the infrequent usage
but shampoo is an english word in common use
but, i'm glad we got to learn this dh6 today. it is a cool concept.
a lot of english words are derived from other languages
molly provided the definition earlier
have been trying to find it ever since I saww the call in the chat -- no luck
guess I missed the def - not sure it would help anyway
did you happen to see the sitcom Dh6 & Greg?
it just changes one letter from her name
ty - that gave it to me
never seen it before
shades of Ghandi
yeah pretty cool
british suffragettes tried it too, but it was called a hunger strike (the english term)
don't see anything cool about forcing people to your way through guilt
doing whatever it takes to bring about justice, is how i look at it
powerful men have often been unpersuadable by simple polite requests

Or do ____ ____ on the light with a vowel at the end
HOET
thank you Bea and Molly
Earlier, someone said that they tried na6 in morewords with asterisks and there were no na6. There are, but asterisks is not the good thing to use in morewords. If you use dashes ---- it will give you just the word value you are looking for. Asterisks gives you all possible words between na and na6

interesting. i made lots of mistakes, and so did the rental car company, costing precious time. enterprise had gone down hill, the customer service does not speak or understand english. kept getting contradictory info if any.

but am glad to have learned lessons. i am putting a deposit on a trip to the greek islands next june
ooooh, that sounds lovely!! my greek is limited to what i learned when young, waitressing in diners

yes, ma'am - still use them today :)
the trip is doable but airfare is outrageous. hoping by next year it will calm down.

thank you, a friend is the planner, the itinerary is all set. he will try later to get a group rate.for air
srsly, why> i have been on planes before where they give the gates and call them out.
grinding grid....
TO, I've found that international airfare is very expensive up until a few months before the departure date, then it drops for a while, then it goes back up just before departure. So patience is the best play.
stats for the 10 please? Just stats... I'm not at clue mode yet :)
tr10 apparently

down to 32 after first, very slow, pass through... thanks to a couple of clues below too... I don't think I'll get much further unassisted. As usual, more than a third of what I have left are 6-letter words -- they are my nemesis.
47 to go here
32 is a very very good score after a first pass
5OFOET
I'm a glutton for punishment. I try to get to only 2 left on each tile before I move on. I didn't make it today. Had to give up with 3 or 4 left on several of the big tiles. It means I'm very slow the first time through.
we all get to play the way we want to :)

TOUR OF GREECE Starting in the beautiful island of Santorini, in 12 days this comprehensive tour of Greece begins by visiting the must-see island of Santorini. We’ll have a few days to explore the breathtaking scenery of whitewashed buildings with vibrant blue roofs and beautiful beaches. Next, after flying back to the mainland, we’ll travel by bus to Olympia where we’ll visit the site of the original Olympic games. From there, we’ll head to the beautiful port town of Nafplio and spend some time exploring the city and surrounding areas. The car-free island of Hydra will give us a couple of days to relax and unwind after all our sightseeing. Once we’re rejuvenated, we’ll take a short ferry ride back to Athens to explore the city, including the Acropolis and Parthenon.

hi, peri...
hey pen. how are you doing with big grid. I am stuck with 128 left
i have worked on it in three stages....couldn't sleep last night, so i started in the wee hours....listed with 50 left....now down to 20....
I'm sorry about the no sleep, pen.
I may list when I get to 100, don't want to be here all night
thanks, bea....have had a few bad nights lately....started after i got three good nights in a row....
i can relate, peri...

thanks...bye...
pen. I can relate to not being able to sleep. hate when that happens
bye Bea
me, too!
I take meds for sleep problems. I was a lifelong insomniac.
hope it works for you...
Now I'm a lifelong druggie. Much better.
what do you take Kaplan if you don't mind me asking?
I'm kidding about "druggie"- too disparaging a word. I just have a medication regime that helps with sleep.
It's a combo. Some antidepressants work for some people, others require more of a sedative, and some people need ambient. See if you can find a good doctor to work with. I'm being very general about what I take- everyone is different.
ok
st8 anyone?
If that helps. It also helps to have good sleep hygiene. No computers or phones in the bedroom, have a turn off time, and try to go to sleep at a similar time each night. If you have morning awakening too early, or not falling to sleep at night, or midnight awakening it's all data.
that is my missing 8...
I am missing 5 of the 8s'
No babbling in the bedroom!
114 left
oh...peri...i clued that when you asked...
sorry did not see. will look
no problem...
I am not sure what previous word you are referring to. not using list as yet. I have an st7 and a st9. does the 8 go with them?
no....goes with the word that is a geographical term....the st 5 of Gibraltar, for example...
is that an st6?
yes, sorry....
got it thank you

such a good opportunity wasted this year

yeah, they had 7 rebound chances in the entire 7 game series...just really poor
oh well, there is hopefully next year.
yeah, though I expect they'll fire Gallant...not much to be done about the roster with the Cap
pardon, but I dont know who Gallant is, the coach?
yeah
neutrina - a feminine neutrino
too bad, because it is not always the coaches fault when the team is a solid talent.
yeah, I think in this case he's a good part of it
If I look at Pittsburgh, I don't fault their coach...more their front office
I do think markets like Toronto, New York and to some extent Montreal are inherently harder though
well, you know better than I. I just know we love our Cooper and he isnt going anywhere
