5:33 am

Hi aslindy. I was here for a bit then played some words in games.

6:00 am

no idea what that dh6 is

6:01 am

totally just guessed it

6:01 am

Clue please!

6:03 am

what made me think of it was a TV show called Dh6 and Greg, but this one is spelled with an N instead of M

6:03 am

which is probably the dumbest clue ever

6:03 am

TY for that word.

6:03 am

I remember that. Thank you...I was all around it and super annoyed! ;)

6:04 am

thank goodness it helped! I had no idea how to clue it!

6:05 am

also, I was really annoyed when that show ended on a cliffhanger and then was just done

6:07 am

I never watched the show regularly.

6:22 am

thaing - like that stevie ray vaughan song "pride and joy"

6:23 am

Time to get ready for work. Enjoy the day.

6:23 am

bye scrab

7:28 am

ar7/28.....clue please

7:35 am

an 6/18 insert an r as second letter

7:37 am

I have tried...doesn't seem to work?????

7:39 am

ty anrike....but I still can't find it.

7:40 am

sorry autocorrect changed your name,anike.

7:44 am

still need help with the ar7/28, please.

7:44 am

look up lipstick tree, then change second letter

7:45 am

or do what anike said

7:56 am

hello everyone

7:56 am

what a monster grid

8:02 am

my thoughts exactly, mael

8:04 am

hey bea :)

8:04 am

wow! pulled that d from the memory bank

8:05 am

I'm lost or I have the wrong word for lipstick tree

8:05 am

I've always thought of it as a flavoring

8:06 am

one has to INSERT an R as the second letter when using the lipstick tree as a base.....

8:06 am

the an6 that is, the ar7 is a variant spelling

8:06 am

they're the same thing, funnily enough :)

8:08 am

Again, I must have the wrong word for lipstick tree. There are no R and C that connect in this grid.

8:08 am

stats on the d, please bea? I'm sure I know it but I've tried all the usual suspects I remember haha

8:09 am

think of the south american spice

8:09 am

dh6.24

8:09 am

guess you have the wrong tree, molly....

8:09 am

I wouldn't have known it as a tree either. Shrub maybe, but it's famous for dye and flavor

8:10 am

Yeah, I had the wrong word. The word I was looking at was achiote.

8:10 am

thanks bea!

8:10 am

hah, it IS achiote

8:10 am

I got the word though, thanks mael.

8:10 am

ar7, an6, and an7 which is not in the grid today are all achiote

8:10 am

I have tried everything to get that word. Alas

8:10 am

thanks English for all the synonyms!

8:12 am

got it bea, thanks

8:12 am

do you have the an 6/18?....that lipstick tree s the base....we have had that word before....add an R as the second letter....that gives you the ar 7....

8:12 am

sorry....should have said BICHON.....etc....

8:12 am

no, I don't

8:12 am

if you google it, you will find it....

8:13 am

the an 5 is shown in the pics for the search....

8:13 am

what A is it from?

8:13 am

a red flavoring popular in south American food, bichon

8:13 am

top A

8:14 am

that works if she knows anything about south american food....i don't, lol....

8:14 am

ty

8:14 am

hah, I don't think I've ever heard it called a lipstick tree myself, so the opposite approach might work!

8:18 am

finally finished the As, phew

8:30 am

What a great plant. You can make lipstick, body paint, use as a spice and use for medicinal purposes.

8:31 am

vegetal multitasking :)

8:32 am

It will cure some of your ailments, spice up your food and make you look good all at the same time.

8:34 am

hah. I'm mad at myself that it took me this long to find the 9 and the 10 :)

8:40 am

i would think so, meal

8:41 am

in my defense it's the twistiest grid I've seen in a while! I didn't even see the word, I tried it just in case

8:48 am

my longest word so far is a 7 lol

8:49 am

takes a while to get going today :)

8:50 am

its a doozy shirl.

8:51 am

i already know i won't be finishing today

8:52 am

thane

8:52 am

oops

8:54 am

thanks! :)

8:59 am

and mea culpa again on the ri8! lol

9:03 am

12:07 pm

I THINK the word is mammals but i dont see that here. Nor anythingthat can rhyme with it. Is this a word i would know?

12:07 pm

Na 6 rhymes with not Army, Navy, Air Force or Coast Guard

12:07 pm

sharks are not mammals. and yes, it is a word you would know.

12:09 pm

A country is from a different N. So i hope that is not what you are cluing. I have that one.

12:15 pm

more words has changed their search so i cant get na six letters. Anyone know why? I put astericks for the letters i dont know and hit search and up comes 1200 words to use with scrabble. From naan on. Any ideas? I am using an ipad so maybe that is the issue?

12:17 pm

what word are you looking for?

12:17 pm

Na six from the N in first column. Not seeing anything

12:17 pm

mkg, change the first letter of The Few. The Proud. The ...

12:32 pm

Just got half way.

12:32 pm

Hi nan approaching half way

12:33 pm

hi all

12:34 pm

not fond of these large grids - opened last night, took one look at the number of words and shut it down. Have been popping in and out this am and am stalled with 149 to go -- think the rest will be very tough sledding

12:35 pm

its a tough one

12:35 pm

tough but rewarding, sort of

12:36 pm

finding every grid to be more frustrating than the last lately

12:36 pm

well, you can always take a babble hiatus for a bit

12:36 pm

might just do that

12:36 pm

no need to torture yourself

12:36 pm

just starting

12:37 pm

g'morning mool

12:37 pm

it would be nice to have a grid without all of the weird ones

12:37 pm

dh 6? no way that can be english!

12:38 pm

hindi

12:39 pm

exactly my point

12:39 pm

then again, shampoo comes to us from hindi too

12:39 pm

so really it's not the source so much as the infrequent usage

12:40 pm

but shampoo is an english word in common use

12:40 pm

but, i'm glad we got to learn this dh6 today. it is a cool concept.

12:41 pm

a lot of english words are derived from other languages

12:41 pm

molly provided the definition earlier

12:41 pm

have been trying to find it ever since I saww the call in the chat -- no luck

12:42 pm

guess I missed the def - not sure it would help anyway

12:42 pm

did you happen to see the sitcom Dh6 & Greg?

12:42 pm

it just changes one letter from her name

12:42 pm

ty - that gave it to me

12:43 pm

never seen it before

12:43 pm

shades of Ghandi

12:43 pm

yeah pretty cool

12:47 pm

british suffragettes tried it too, but it was called a hunger strike (the english term)

12:49 pm

don't see anything cool about forcing people to your way through guilt

12:51 pm

doing whatever it takes to bring about justice, is how i look at it

1:26 pm

thank you Bea and Molly

1:28 pm

Earlier, someone said that they tried na6 in morewords with asterisks and there were no na6. There are, but asterisks is not the good thing to use in morewords. If you use dashes ---- it will give you just the word value you are looking for. Asterisks gives you all possible words between na and na6

i saw that you enjoyed the sun while waiting - all in all, a good trip?

2:45 pm

thanks welki

interesting. i made lots of mistakes, and so did the rental car company, costing precious time. enterprise had gone down hill, the customer service does not speak or understand english. kept getting contradictory info if any.

2:46 pm

(i used some last night, bea - cod with diced red/yellow/orange peppers, onions, tomatoes and scallions)

but am glad to have learned lessons. i am putting a deposit on a trip to the greek islands next june

2:47 pm

ooooh, that sounds lovely!! my greek is limited to what i learned when young, waitressing in diners

lol i bet you learned some useful phrases...

2:48 pm

yes, ma'am - still use them today :)

the trip is doable but airfare is outrageous. hoping by next year it will calm down.

2:49 pm

start saving up points

i am debating whether or not to go back downtown to enjoy the music tonight. i want to see war.

oh hell no i do not want to fly delta again

2:50 pm

the only song i remember of theirs is 'whyc an

2:50 pm

t we be friends"

our plane was late coming in so late into hartville. they refused to let those with tight connections deplane first. i have NEVER seen that

how about cisco kid?

cisco

2:51 pm

was a friend of mine?

2:51 pm

use a travel agent when you go to greece. they get you good rates and you aren't spending weeks planning and looking for cheap fairs

he drink whiskey, pancho drink the wine...

2:52 pm

that is not just a delta policy. it is across most airlines

2:53 pm

laundry time - later, folks

thank you, a friend is the planner, the itinerary is all set. he will try later to get a group rate.for air

srsly, why> i have been on planes before where they give the gates and call them out.

3:09 pm

grinding grid....

3:10 pm

TO, I've found that international airfare is very expensive up until a few months before the departure date, then it drops for a while, then it goes back up just before departure. So patience is the best play.

3:10 pm

stats for the 10 please? Just stats... I'm not at clue mode yet :)

3:16 pm

I'm a glutton for punishment. I try to get to only 2 left on each tile before I move on. I didn't make it today. Had to give up with 3 or 4 left on several of the big tiles. It means I'm very slow the first time through.

3:17 pm

we all get to play the way we want to :)

TOUR OF GREECE Starting in the beautiful island of Santorini, in 12 days this comprehensive tour of Greece begins by visiting the must-see island of Santorini. We’ll have a few days to explore the breathtaking scenery of whitewashed buildings with vibrant blue roofs and beautiful beaches. Next, after flying back to the mainland, we’ll travel by bus to Olympia where we’ll visit the site of the original Olympic games. From there, we’ll head to the beautiful port town of Nafplio and spend some time exploring the city and surrounding areas. The car-free island of Hydra will give us a couple of days to relax and unwind after all our sightseeing. Once we’re rejuvenated, we’ll take a short ferry ride back to Athens to explore the city, including the Acropolis and Parthenon.

oops did not realize so large pardon me.

hi, peri...

4:30 pm

hey pen. how are you doing with big grid. I am stuck with 128 left

4:31 pm

i have worked on it in three stages....couldn't sleep last night, so i started in the wee hours....listed with 50 left....now down to 20....

4:32 pm

I'm sorry about the no sleep, pen.

4:32 pm

I may list when I get to 100, don't want to be here all night

4:32 pm

thanks, bea....have had a few bad nights lately....started after i got three good nights in a row....

4:33 pm

i can relate, peri...

4:34 pm

heading out...hope you get some sleep tonight, pen

4:35 pm

thanks...bye...

4:35 pm

pen. I can relate to not being able to sleep. hate when that happens

4:35 pm

bye Bea

4:35 pm

me, too!

I take meds for sleep problems. I was a lifelong insomniac.

4:36 pm

hope it works for you...

Now I'm a lifelong druggie. Much better.

4:36 pm

what do you take Kaplan if you don't mind me asking?

I'm kidding about "druggie"- too disparaging a word. I just have a medication regime that helps with sleep.

It's a combo. Some antidepressants work for some people, others require more of a sedative, and some people need ambient. See if you can find a good doctor to work with. I'm being very general about what I take- everyone is different.

4:39 pm

ok

4:41 pm

st8 anyone?

If that helps. It also helps to have good sleep hygiene. No computers or phones in the bedroom, have a turn off time, and try to go to sleep at a similar time each night. If you have morning awakening too early, or not falling to sleep at night, or midnight awakening it's all data.

4:41 pm

that is my missing 8...

4:41 pm

I am missing 5 of the 8s'

No babbling in the bedroom!

4:44 pm

I am not sure what previous word you are referring to. not using list as yet. I have an st7 and a st9. does the 8 go with them?

4:44 pm

no....goes with the word that is a geographical term....the st 5 of Gibraltar, for example...

4:45 pm

is that an st6?

4:46 pm

yes, sorry....

4:46 pm

5:13 pm

there's a fair bit of italian in this board

5:13 pm

and thanks for the clue peri

ah, never know which pa5 is on enable

5:14 pm

ah got your clue, ty moo

5:14 pm

yw

5:14 pm

still missing 2 of the 8s

5:15 pm

still missing 5 of the 8s :)

5:15 pm

SORRY aboout your

5:16 pm

yeah, was an ugly loss to be sure

5:16 pm

Rangers Mool, I know the feeling

still need 7 8's

5:16 pm

all that talent and opportunity, to come out that flat...embarrassing really

5:17 pm

such a good opportunity wasted this year

5:17 pm

and against a rookie goalie to make it even worse.

5:17 pm

yeah, they had 7 rebound chances in the entire 7 game series...just really poor

5:17 pm

oh well, there is hopefully next year.

5:18 pm

yeah, though I expect they'll fire Gallant...not much to be done about the roster with the Cap

5:19 pm

pardon, but I dont know who Gallant is, the coach?

5:19 pm

yeah

5:20 pm

neutrina - a feminine neutrino

5:20 pm

too bad, because it is not always the coaches fault when the team is a solid talent.

5:21 pm

yeah, I think in this case he's a good part of it

5:21 pm

If I look at Pittsburgh, I don't fault their coach...more their front office

5:22 pm

I do think markets like Toronto, New York and to some extent Montreal are inherently harder though

5:22 pm

well, you know better than I. I just know we love our Cooper and he isnt going anywhere

5:22 pm

yeah, hard to fault Mr Cooper

5:22 pm

Or your GM...really have done amazing things considering the challenges

5:23 pm

Although that trade for Tanner Jeannot was eye-watering

5:23 pm

may not finish. bbl

5:23 pm

seeya peri

5:29 pm

4OFOET

5:29 pm

3OFOET

5:46 pm

6:41 pm

6:44 pm

hi/bye!

7:13 pm

hi/bye....just finished... ;o)

nice

7:13 pm

completed in stages, lol...

I plan on not finishing unless I can get to the 20s

which seems very very unlikely

7:14 pm

i was up past the flip....worked some on it this morning...then early this afternoon....and now....listed at 50.... I knew it would be a slog otherwise...

I still don't even have HOET

7:16 pm

not a fun one....not enough Es....

nope

still need like 19 S's. I'm guessing there are some big ones there.

7:17 pm

there are two pa 7/32's just before dolly -- any clues please?

I don't have either but will look

7:18 pm

pa not loose

7:18 pm

there are two pa 7/32 words before Dolly....

7:19 pm

almost the same...

7:19 pm

different ending vowel....

7:19 pm

yes - those are the ones I'm looking for -- they have to begin with a segment, but cannot find the endings

7:19 pm

that was one pa7.32

thanks all

7:20 pm

pa7 pa not loose

7:20 pm

7:59 pm

7:59 pm

8:04 pm

8:05 pm

8:07 pm

8:07 pm

hallo bea

8:07 pm

hi Bea!

8:08 pm

this one is a dilly.

8:08 pm

that's for sure!

8:09 pm

indeed. 117 to go

8:09 pm

not going to last much longer

8:13 pm

that S is a beast. still missing 15.

8:14 pm

missing 14 of them here..

8:15 pm

and find myself trying all kinds of combos, amazed when some of them are accepted

8:17 pm

words I've never heard of or can't remember seeing..

8:17 pm

check plurals they are sneaky. also remember the gerund it dosent play much...

8:18 pm

yes, that is what makes this on tough, aloy

8:18 pm

ok, ty Bea..

8:22 pm

100 to go!

9:20 pm

looks like pabtrek left the building.. and so must I. Good luck with this tuff grid. Happy babbling! Good night all.. zzz

9:21 pm

Apparently, "rigato" is Italian for striped, but I don't know what "rigato i" means

it's late, I think it was rigatoni and the n got left out

9:41 pm

Makes sense...
