5:41 am

BBL for last 38...good luck!

Hi, Champ - I kept mis-spelling the SU words - got most now

bye!

5:42 am

Good monring, IG.

Hi, Scrab

5:44 am

How is life going?

nice grid, but sure was looking for the "est" andings at first. very wet here - strange weather

5:46 am

I have started on the left half--lots of words so far. Nice spring here so far.

theres no jet stream over most of the US now - the weather doesnt seem to know where to go

5:47 am

It didn't snow on Mother's Day so that was nice.

i have a nice big water snake living here now - it crosses over the patio to get to the lake

5:50 am

How big?

diamond back water snake (non-poison.) about 6 feet long

5:51 am

Yikes!

it slithers down the stairs to the lake - very cool

5:52 am

My sister is backpacking in northern Virginia and saw a big lizard sunbathing on a rock. Eastern Fence Lizard.

lizards are cool - they sit on my car, when its not garaged.

5:53 am

I have seen then in Florida but I didn't know they were in northern VA. I did some reading.

a few have gone for a ride, hanging on to the hood

5:58 am

Oh, boy. Well, we have black bears. Mostly with my neighbors across the street because a creek runs behind them. The bears follow the creek.

bears def. trump my snake and lizards

6:02 am

I have had bears in my yard twice. First glance you think it's a black Newfoundland.

what are they looking to eat?

6:07 am

Bird food--seeds and suet.

6:08 am

I have to get to work. Enjoy the day.

and the occasional pet ?

6:09 am

I haven't heard of that. Coyotes and foxes though.

6:56 am

good morning all

hey peri

7:15 am

hello all

hey kiani

not a big fan of today's grid with all the duplicate letters. no HOET, GNOTBO, 43 left. 9-7-11-9-6-1. think I will go walk winston and do some weeding before it gets too hot. TTFN.

7:27 am

enjoy!

ok, opted to do one more pass before I left and now 21 left. still no HOET but at least I found 2 8's and grayed a bunch of tiles. 4-3-4-5-4-1 left.

7:48 am

upsetting that there's no superlative ending in this grid

7:48 am

bye hokie!

7:53 am

I finally found a bunch of 8s and the 9

7:55 am

The 9 was a giveaway earlier this morning. Someone declared it not in the grid. 😊

7:55 am

lol, I can see how that would happen with all repeat letters

7:56 am

with these grids I just type before I even try to figure out how it would be possible in the grid, just in case

7:57 am

then we enter into english spelling territory, like why is su7 spelled that way when ac6 is not? who knows!

8:58 am

hey peeps

8:58 am

hi, bea :)

8:59 am

hello!

9:01 am

*waves to bea*

9:12 am

"waves to ruru, mael and welki and molly and all"

9:12 am

hi saan..

9:12 am

Ooo, San is like Miss Nancy with the Magic Mirror

9:12 am

having fun yet ru?

9:13 am

looking forward to getting caught up this coming weekend. I had a blast

9:13 am

Miss Nancy is our bus driver haha

9:13 am

I don't know Miss Nancy

9:13 am

I'm a bus driver?

9:13 am

No Romper Room in Canada? How sad.

9:14 am

ms Nancy was a kid show saan

9:14 am

with her magic mirror

9:14 am

she was a hot ticket when I was a kid

I remember Romper Room but don't remember it. one of my neighbors was on it one time.

9:15 am

Molly we are sadly deprived of the magic Mirror

9:16 am

Way before your time Carla. Those were the days of Carnivals for Dystrophy. San, Google says Canada did have Romper Room.

9:17 am

No kids, and no TV. Never heard of it.

actually wiki is saying it was 1953-1994. franchised and syndicated, so some local markets made their own versions.

9:17 am

but I will keep the image of the Magic Mirror.

https://tinyurl.com/nuc8ppur

9:18 am

well the Ms Nancy I grew up with was attractive

9:18 am

At the end of the show, Miss Nancy would look through her Magic Mirror and say the names of all the kids she saw. She never saw Molly. I was traumatized for life.

9:19 am

that explains it then :D

9:19 am

That and 12 years of Catholic schooling

9:19 am

Miss Fran never saw Belinda either. But we were Good Do Bees

9:19 am

oh shit.. that'd do it to anyone

hmm, the first youtube video of the magic mirror outro I picked has an apparently canadian miss nancy, because she said tomoorow and aboot

9:21 am

must have come from eastern Canada then

9:21 am

I also had no idea what this magic mirror is :)

9:22 am

previous generation kind of thing mael...

plus mael is italian

9:23 am

My favorite was Captain Kangaroo.

9:23 am

i liked him too bea

I liked that one too, but don't remember a lot about it either. I also liked electric company.

9:24 am

We also had Captain Satelite out here in California.. you probably didn't have that one

9:24 am

how about the Howdie Doodie Show? and the peanut gallery?

9:24 am

Did he show cartoons?

that was before my time, saan

9:25 am

I didn't care for Howdy Doodie at all as a kid .. never watched it

9:25 am

when we only had two channels there wasn't much choice

9:26 am

I don't really remember the show other than the set and his costume Bea

9:26 am

Major Astro was our after school cartoon host. As we got older her became Major Asshole.

9:26 am

actually ru, neither do I

9:26 am

mail watched Capitan Canguro

9:26 am

mael

9:26 am

hahah Bea!

9:27 am

hah

I had older brothers so if they were home I didn't get to watch a lot of kid shows

9:28 am

ah.. that explains it hokie

9:28 am

Robin Hood was a good one

9:29 am

yeah.. only to discover years later that Robin Hood was a Gay hero...

9:29 am

Try and explain to some young kid how TV used to end at midnight with the National Anthem and then the test pattern

9:30 am

oh.. yeah I remember that Molly

okay, gotta get back out before I get glued to this chair

9:31 am

i have to be back to work today.. ugh

9:31 am

bye all!

9:32 am

have fun today everyone

9:42 am

Good morning all. Or whatever time of day it is where you are.

9:43 am

good morning wht, it is 7:43 AM here'

9:45 am

It is 10:44 here. I am on a plane flying from Boston to Seattle so time here will be flexible all day.

9:47 am

Right now I am over Ontario, soon to cross Lake Huron.

9:47 am

have you got a window seat?

9:48 am

No, aisle. I prefer the 2 centimeters extra legroom.

9:49 am

I always preferred the aisle until I got a laptop with a battery that actually lasts long enough -- I like to write code in flight and the aisle gives me the elbow room!

9:50 am

2 centimeters! that's about it.

9:50 am

You just have to be careful about the code introduced when someone bumps your elbow going by. :^)

9:53 am

wht, that is quite a journey you are on. Best of luck.

9:54 am

Arrghhh....any clues for the ca8 or second de7/44?

9:55 am

We are going to visi my brother-in-law and his family. We haven't seen them in 6 years. This is our first big trip since the pandemic started

9:55 am

hello all

9:55 am

Not yet. I have just started

9:55 am

ca8 ends in spotted cubes

9:56 am

Hi aslindy

9:56 am

hi wht

9:56 am

That's a weird one.

9:56 am

I mean the CA8, not aslindy!

9:56 am

de7 is similar to the trees that drop their leaves

9:57 am

de 7 is expelling the placenta

9:57 am

Thanks, BzznBea....I was thinking something like that but couldn't futz properly....

9:57 am

yw

9:57 am

thanks for the ca8, bea!

9:57 am

Ahh, there it is. FW. Had to get a bit Latiny!

9:58 am

Thanks for *both*!

9:58 am

congrats!

9:58 am

Now on to my traditional follow-up, Lewdle!

9:58 am

ty Bea.

9:59 am

I'm guessing you're not planning to move to Florida in retirement wht

9:59 am

:D just kidding

10:00 am

no one should be planning on moving to FL these days

10:01 am

No, Ruru, nor Tennessee. Massachussets fits me just fine.

10:01 am

i hear that mael.

10:01 am

Hey Ru

10:02 am

good morning Doren

10:02 am

thanks again for everything

10:02 am

MA feels nice and sane these days

10:02 am

Morning Dorens.

10:03 am

morning wht, mael and everyone else. Ru, thank you! I'm in Brooklyn now

10:03 am

It is not often I get on in the morning. It is good to see folks again.

10:03 am

oh yeah Tennessee has just gone nutso

10:03 am

morning dorens!

10:04 am

I am not sure that MA is sane but it is a different sort of crazy.

10:04 am

Tennessee? why, Ru?

10:04 am

did R and D have a great time?

10:04 am

Silly Ru - they had a Great Time!

10:05 am

Dorens, read my profile.

10:06 am

TN has passed a number of anti LBGQT+ laws and it is getting worse daily

10:07 am

wht I wish you the best of luck. Fortunately you live in a safer place. My sister lived in Arlington for years, moved to Winchester but still teaches yoga in Arlington.

10:07 am

HI Wht.. i read it.. I support you, but why did you wait so long? 72 is kind of a late start isn't it?

10:08 am

I was very slow on the uptake.

10:09 am

I am generally very good at math but it took me a long time to put 2 and 2 together.

10:09 am

well, this is just the right time for you then

10:10 am

I agree.. good luck on your journey. You're one of the nicest People here in Babble and have always been so.

10:11 am

Ruru, now you are making me blush.

10:11 am

howdee hurshey

10:58 am

clue for te6 please?

10:59 am

gwen, i've been going through the classic Who, am nearly to the end of the Pertwee era

sounds like fun, hurshy !!!

11:00 am

aslindy - a guy's name past tense te 6/27

11:00 am

I only have one te6, and it's a past tense of a te4 plural

11:00 am

thank you

11:00 am

it is pretty hilarious how much 3 does reverse the polarity. i knew it was a sort of meme but now i see the reason

ty saanichat

they say that once he was given that line he loved it so much they kept giving itto him

11:01 am

yvw!

11:01 am

it's quite the panacea

yep, and scientifically hilarious

11:02 am

i also really enjoyed seeing the sonic screwdriver used AS A SCREWDRIVER

11:02 am

by troughton

11:03 am

who knew??

ahhhh great memories

11:03 am

but then his regeneration into pertwee was pretty traumatic. more painful than any of the modern doctors regens.

11:03 am

it's usually just "end of an era" painful but this was... harsh

one thing i notice about Doctor Who is even when there's violence there's hardly any blood (with a few exceptions)

11:05 am

but there was a lot more violence in pertwee than there usually is now, i feel. like more just... idk... action sequences of fighting, gun battles, what have you

all regenerations are tragic, IMO, but hey, it's also one of the best gimmick sever invented, and saved the show

11:06 am

when they first did it from hartnell to troughton they must have really been wondering "is this going to work? will fans go for it?"

yeah, the Third Doctor loved flipping the stunt men over LOL

and they keep saying the Doctor doesn't use guns -- oh yes he does -- not that often but -- yes he does

11:08 am

well i'd say the show has continually moved away from that over time as much as possible

of course the Doctor models good behavior for the kids -- most of the time LOL

11:09 am

morning campers

howdee moolingwa

11:09 am

happy Tuesday Gwen

11:09 am

hiya mool

11:10 am

hey hursh, happy Tuesday to you too

11:10 am

Does anyone have a clue for the ac7/8 combo, assuming it is a combo.

back atcha

11:12 am

Hi Gwen and mool and hurshy

11:12 am

well this is going well so far...have found 32 of the first 34 words in the first two columns

11:12 am

hey wht

11:13 am

phantom: accident

sorry, don't have ac combo, hunting now

11:13 am

i've got ac6/7/7

11:14 am

I will take a clue for the last ac7.

11:15 am

clue for the second ac/40, pla

11:15 am

pls

found ac8/55 -- a + double consonant + a really smart thought or invention (spelled wrong) + plural

ac6/7 =to agree (rhymes with se4, you plant it and it grows)

11:16 am

we could use that in yahtzee

11:16 am

i should get to roll again, i didn't mean to roll then, it was an ac7!

theac8 is not related to the ac6 or ac7s (AFAIK)

11:17 am

thanks gwen

11:17 am

well i mean it is related to its own non-plural 7

11:18 am

but not the OTHER 7s

11:18 am

ty gwen. I finally figured out which misspelling you meant,

oops, that's what i meant

(!)

26 to go, gotta run, haves the funses

11:19 am

I too have 26 to go :)

11:20 am

okay, first pass complete

11:22 am

4-4-4-4-4

11:25 am

ac 6/24, first one, pls

11:25 am

agree to, perhaps reluctantly. often used when a superior grants a request

11:26 am

isn't that 6/27?

11:26 am

doh, not paying attention

11:26 am

sorries

11:26 am

ok the only 6/24 i have is multiple angles of less than 90 degrees

11:26 am

no, but ty

11:27 am

that's the second one :)

11:27 am

I'm assuming

11:27 am

based on bich's request

11:27 am

ok good to know!

11:27 am

then that is my last missing A

11:28 am

though not sure how there could be one before your first clue :)

11:28 am

sure, but there's room between them

11:29 am

another 6/24 :)

11:29 am

maybe that's it

11:29 am

that's what i'm saying

11:29 am

lol

11:29 am

yes, it's between

11:29 am

as you predicted

11:30 am

ok so now you can clue it :D

11:30 am

a plus homophone of a part of your body that is IN your head

11:32 am

Can someone clue the su7/40?

11:32 am

good morning all ---

11:32 am

it has to do with a form of death wht

11:32 am

hey nan

11:32 am

put a gun to one's own head

11:33 am

sweltering here already at 9:33 am -- supposed to it 87F today

11:33 am

also a song by phoebe buffay, su- su- su7

11:33 am

thy mool and nan. Can you do it by slapping yourself with a fish?

11:34 am

there are two 8's that go with it, wht

11:34 am

Those were my last 3 words, so fireworks.

11:34 am

i'm still perplexed with the ac6 clue

11:37 am

ac6 a + it rhymes with what pollen affects this time of year.

11:37 am

ahhhh thank you

11:38 am

putting the two clues together really helped

11:38 am

your welcome.

11:38 am

gosh i still need so many Ss

11:38 am

I try not to be too obvious, obviously

11:38 am

It is also a less than middling grade with a letter missing.

11:39 am

ooh, I like that

11:39 am

mool, I specialize in clues that are only obvious if you have already found the word.

11:40 am

:)

11:45 am

I have enjoyed chatting with you all today. Thanks to all the cluers.

11:45 am

Happy Babbling.

11:46 am

ca8?

11:46 am

another one I'm missing - looking hurshy

11:47 am

Molly clued it earlier as ending with the spotted cubes you roll when you play games.

11:50 am

i cain't git there from here

11:51 am

cube or cubes, I wonder

11:51 am

yeah maybe just cube? cause no matter what 2 letters i put between ca and cubes, it isn't working

11:52 am

Start with c + two vowels....

11:52 am

hello all....

11:53 am

it's two of the cubes you play games with and pl letter...

11:53 am

ohhhhhhh

11:53 am

thanks

11:53 am

yw...

11:54 am

so really what we should tell people is that it is a plural similar to the plural word for matrix

11:54 am

Hi and bye pen. Now I really am going.

11:54 am

bye, wht...

11:55 am

ohh- ty hurshy - that did it for me

11:56 am

:D

11:56 am

just need one more 8 and 4 more 7's now

11:59 am

is there more than one ag word?

11:59 am

i only have one...but i have As missing...

12:00 pm

I have 3 ag words

12:00 pm

but still missing two a's

12:00 pm

ok, so my missing two a's are both ag

12:01 pm

one of mine was a duh word.. ;o)

12:02 pm

have the ag 4/6 babblet, but that's all

12:02 pm

to do over...and to be anti something....

12:02 pm

another one has probably been said over and over in the chat...not as a clue, just in general conversation :)

12:03 pm

two duh words!

12:36 pm

I used to us ag4.6 a lot in the form of ag4.6ose gel.

12:39 pm

holy sweat, it is muggy out there today

12:40 pm

up here, 80F and 41% humidity. Oddly pleasant for this time of year.

12:40 pm

carla!....damp and cool here....

12:40 pm

landlord is putting in heat pumps....noisy here...

12:40 pm

arborists were here earlier, trimming trees near the playground behind the house.

12:42 pm

ac 6/24, first one, pls

12:44 pm

I was working in the shade and it's only 75 but had sweat dripping off

12:45 pm

it was cloudy off and on so I won't be surprised when a storm pops up

12:46 pm

BTW, pen!

12:49 pm

hopefully, my place will be cooler this summer with the heat pump....

12:49 pm

Nights here are MUCH more humid that our days usually are.

12:50 pm

I have a plural of an ac5 infection. is there one before that?

12:51 pm

my first ac 5 is a pl....

12:51 pm

and i have all my As...

12:51 pm

I have a plural ac6

12:52 pm

after two ac5.14s

12:52 pm

the angles, yes....

12:54 pm

Finally finished my coffee now that I have no cats sleeping on me.

12:56 pm

coffee sounds good....i think i will take a break....stalled at 19 anyway....bye all....

12:56 pm

enjoy

12:58 pm

d'oh. just found the 9. should've found earlier.

12:59 pm

oh bye, pen

12:59 pm

dcseain, do you have the ac6/24 between those two ac 5/14s? it's the latin singular of an ac5 we see quite a bit

12:59 pm

21 left here. 4-3-4-5-4-1 D G AAAAA CC DDD Sx9

1:00 pm

I don't, thank you nrkii, will look

1:00 pm

I'm down to 10 AA, S, DDD, T, SSS

1:01 pm

dc, need the first one, pls

1:03 pm

eh, I'm missing 2 A words, dc, so I may be sending you down the wrong rabbit hole. the ac 6/24 I mean comes after the non alkalines

1:04 pm

yes, I was clear about that, thank you :)

1:05 pm

ah, found it. Looks like a male first declension to me, thank you.

1:05 pm

yes, you're right... Only one year of Latin and it was almost 40 years ago :)

1:06 pm

my monkeys encouraged me to give that word a shot... good little monkeys

1:06 pm

:)

I only have 5 ac words, feels like I'm missing some that you all are talking about

1:09 pm

there are 8

1:09 pm

or more

1:09 pm

somewhere between 8 and 10 :)

1:09 pm

Do you have the 3 that are about King Charles' recent coronation?

yes

1:11 pm

then non alkaline and plural

yes

1:12 pm

skipping the one dc and I were discussing (Latin thing)... there is an ac5 that is about a type of angle in geometry

1:12 pm

and it's plural

1:12 pm

its

btw, pulled out our wii over easter weekend and one of the wiimotes had ac4 leaked and dried all in it. tried the other day to clean it out, alas, it didn't work.

oh duh, thank

1:13 pm

so the one we were talking about comes between plural non-alkaline and singular angle

1:13 pm

and it's a different latin form of an ac5 we see here quite a bit

1:13 pm

but it's an ac6

will look, thx

1:14 pm

and I'm not sure if there are other ac words, because I'm still stuck with 2 A words to go

1:14 pm

I have 3 AG words, and 1 Ai word

I think I know the ac5 you are referring to but can't think of it right now. I'm assuming the 6 ends in not them. it's really on the tip of my brain.

my yes was to molly, but yes to the cu6/7 too

1:22 pm

there is another cu7 very similar to that one

1:23 pm

3 ca words

yep,have that too

1:23 pm

7 cu words

well, it's probably something easy

I keep seeing dedicate and student

1:31 pm

good afternoon all.

hey peri

1:32 pm

I went back to the gym today. had not been there in almost two years. used some of the machines. walked around the track 4 times and then took an aerobics class which was a very long 45 minutes.

1:32 pm

thanks

1:33 pm

I have su7/9/8. I know there is another su8. does it go with the others

1:33 pm

I have 2 other su8 words...

1:33 pm

right after that series, there is a su7/8/8

1:33 pm

are they related

1:34 pm

1:34 pm

not related to first series

past tense, peri

1:37 pm

the two base words are su7/44 and su7/40

1:37 pm

I need the su7/40 then

1:38 pm

the first is do achieve a goal, the second is death by your own hand

1:38 pm

and then both of those have pt and pl

oh, you'd think since I had the ac I would have seen the su, but I failed

1:38 pm

thanks so much nrkii

1:39 pm

you failed to su7/44?

1:39 pm

exactly

1:39 pm

The past tense of death by your own hand sounds weird

1:39 pm

stuck with 7 to go, and have to go to my Fred Astaire dance lesson

1:39 pm

it does

1:39 pm

bbl

1:40 pm

It has a gerund form too, which also sounds weird

while I agree, I just used su8 pt in convo like yesterday!

enjoy the dancing, nellie

I'm off to the paint store. 13 left for later.

Okay, dictionary.com says that the second ac7/40 is "High School Level" (which seemed odd), but redirects for the definition to a different spelling of the word which it says is "Post-College Level".
